Who in their right might would think Outfits is a solution to anything except creativity and flexibility?

The armor type restriction is a creativity issue, so…

Er, the implication is that Outfits “solve” creativity and flexibility, as if creativity and flexibility were the problem.

Er, what I’m saying is it was (for some people)

Unfortunately, I doubt I can make the event succeed on my own.
I think I’d rather stay away from this trend until it’s confirmed to be safe. I’ll probably do the Champion train in FGS, even if it’s less profitable.

Also, Enaretos, could you explain how that basic economy works? From the little I know, the excessive gold coming in the economy would cause an inflation, making the prices go up…

So I stumbled upon a farming train in Cursed Shore today. They were going back and forth the spider tunnel, purposely making the event fail to redo it.
I read somewhere that this was considered an exploit and people get banned/suspended for it? Should I be somehow reporting it?

Also, is there another profitable (and legit) event train in Orr?

On the first and second pictures, my noble Necromancer is enjoying a quiet evening at the gardens of Divinity’s Reach.
Then, on the third one, she’s ready for battle against the Mordrem.
After that is my timid Warrior, preparing for her fight in the Mists.
Next is my Mesmer, relaxing at a lovely location after a rather intense trip to Orr. After that, she’s got a Priory exploration mission in the corrupted Iron Marches!
Last, but not least, is my Elementalist practicing his spells in Southsun Cove and Mount Maestrom! He certainly doesn’t mind the heat~

I don’t think I can win this, but hopefully you’ll still enjoy my pictures~

No, I understand, and I’m def. not trolling, I just want to know the pov of someone who’s got a different view than my own. Every time I’ve taught an Arah path, there’s been a mesmer somewhere, so I’m always looking for new input! I don’t have a mesmer (or want one tbh), but I love to learn more :-)

Well, I have both an Engineer and a Mesmer that I regularly use.

As an Engineer in dungeons, I usually don’t feel very special. All I’m doing is deal out as much damage as I can, stack vulnerability and maybe stack some might or stealth if needed.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m well aware that Mesmers are in a tough spot in PvE right now. However, it feels so good to actively help my team in certain situations. In Arah p1, all the eye turrets become trivialized, I can safely portal my teammates when the ooze splits, I can ensure perma-burning on the tar, as long as my team contributes. As for the final boss, I can just summon a couple of wardens and my team can just sit back and spam autoattacks.
In path 2, the mighty Alphard can’t even touch me or my team while we DPS her down.

There are many more similar examples. Truthfully, I’m sure my teammates don’t even realize half of the stuff I’m doing to help (at least in pugs).
I know that they’re not things that are worth much. I’m mainly just making life easier for my party, rather than meaningfully contribute to the completion like an Elementalist.
But, because I know all this, I always appreciate having a good Mesmer in my party

To clear the misunderstanding: I’m not “worried” about orichalcum, I just figured I should get started on that and am looking for advice for efficient gathering~

If you want efficiency, don’t focus on orichalchum. That comes along over time when you get loot and salvage it.

For example, focus on getting T6 materials first. You can do this by farming in Cursed Shore for moldy bags. Along the way you will get countless of other items that you can salvage and get orichalchum easily.

By “farming” in Cursed Shore, are you referring to some kind of event train? I’m not really well informed with the current farming trends.

PS- I just checked the link in your signature and I’m insanely jealous :P

I must say, it also depends a lot on the dungeons you’re going to run.

For example, if I’m running Arah p1, I’d say a Mesmer who knows his stuff is far more useful than an Engineer.

Really? How do you figure? Are you thinking just in-case people wipe at tar? Engi can bring massive burning for tar, immob for tar, good running skills, immob for ooze, grenade kit for entities. Are you thinking of Lupi reflects? Guardian (for now at least) Are you thinking reflects @ Stargazer? Maybe… but at that point, it really doesn’t matter.

Engi>Mesmer unless you need a portal, especially in arah. (Sorry Sandy, ANet hates you). This is NOT saying mesmers are worthless, just that ANet hates mesmers and is nerfing them to the ground.

OP, learn your engi and you’ll be welcome by anybody that actually doesn’t need a crutch (in a portal). Vuln, fire fields, smoke fields, better than avg dps.

I don’t care about the rest of the team composition, I’m saying that I see a Mesmer to be more valuable than an Engineer in this particular path. You’re free to disagree, of course, it’s just my perspective

Sunrise, to be exact. I was looking at the shopping list for the gifts and, boy, that’s a lot of orichalcum.

Should I start farming in Orr, Dry Top and Frostgorge Sound? I used to farm now and then before the megaservers, because it was super easy with sites like gw2nodes.
I’m a bit reluctant to try it again, since it’ll be really boring to run around the map, looking for orichalcum nodes…

What about the other T6 mats? Should I try farming them, or straight up buy them from TP?

There should be other methods of acquiring things such as this for those who don’t care to go into these areas, but, that’s what this game does is try to FORCE you into areas of the game you don’t like. So much for playing your way.

If you want special rewards, you’ll obviously need to complete special requirements. You can play however you want and do whatever you want, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get extra rewards for it too.

Technically, it’s PvE. Your negative feelings towards it doesn’t change that.

And tbh, I think I’d prefer a revamp of current dungeons instead of a new one in the same state.

Improving the Necromancer's state in PvE

in Necromancer

Posted by: Axelwarrior.9084

Axelwarrior.9084

I’m guessing we all know that Necromancers are in a bad spot in PvE right now, mainly due to their lack of support and sustained AoE DPS.
There have been some suggestions going around on the forums about ways to improve their viability, so I thought we should gather them in one spot so they’re easier to notice/find.

I’m going to list a few I remember here, so feel free to contribute and I’ll add your suggestions to the list.

  • Adding cleave to dagger or another weapon.
  • Buffing/changing the Grandmaster minor trait in Spite, Siphoned Power.
  • Adding a “+150 Ferocity to nearby allies” trait.
  • Buffing Axe damage.
  • Adding Blast Finishers to skills (e.g. Unholy Feast, Enfeeble)
  • Changing Blood is Power to give AoE might to allies.
  • Make all boon on DS traits AoE.
  • Make spectral wall a reflect or projectile block.

LF offensive primary-Water (Staff) Ele build

Axelwarrior.9084

Your only real choice from a viability standpoint is a conjure build. It’s the only way camping a single attunement is even remotely justifiable. Ele’s are simply built to use all 4 elements together (which is humorous considering the additions to the earth trait line).

The best DPS rotation with Staff is camping fire attunement, so….

For raw damage output, yes. However I’m sure you know there’s far more to DPS than just the pretty pretty numbers. Setting up proper killzones for the AOE fields requires all 4 attunements. You won’t catch even a full 6/6/0/0/2 zerk ele camping fire 100% of the time.

With the max-DPS Staff build, you’re only using the 3 other attunements for utility. In most situations in PvE, you’ll be staying in Fire. The only way that the other attunements will ever increase your DPS is by making sure your attacks land in a scenario they would otherwise miss. That almost never happens in PvE, therefore you stay in Fire.

Either way, what you said in your original post was false. Staying in one attunement can be justifiable in many situations, when you’re trying to output as much damage as possible.

Necro build

in Necromancer

Posted by: Axelwarrior.9084

The best all-around build for PvE would be the standard death shroud build, like Lee said. It’s very self-reliant and can perform well in both group and solo settings.

You can also use runes of the scholar, if you know your party will provide all the might you need.
The sigils can also change, you should replace the sigils of accuracy with the appropriate +10% sigil for each dungeon, if you have food/spotter/banner/fury that will make up for the loss of crit chance.

Making the projectiles “unreflectable” doesn’t pressure us to play dungeons in a certain way. It just disables one of the ways we had, which ANet judged to be bad for the game.
Whether that’s true or not is an entirely different discussion.

And by the way, the only thing pressuring us to play dungeons in a certain way is the meta, not ANet.
