Personally I wouldn’t risk buying the core game now. I would sign up with a free account then upgrade it to HoT to be sure to get the core game at no extra cost.
Sorrows Furnace
AI is rebuilding after a small hiatus and we’re looking for a few good people to join the lunacy. We are a social guild that participates in PvE and WvW, with a few individuals playing PvP. We mostly play on the Sorrows Furnace server in the US, but if you aren’t into WvW feel free to join from any server.

Our rule:
Have fun, don’t be a jerk.
Things we value:
Game of Thrones, salty language peppered with wordplay and innuendo, www.deviantart.com, punctuation, quoting Princess Bride and Firefly, pie, and teaming up to play with guildmates and allies.
Things we do not appreciate:
PLAyIng bIG LetTEr LIttLE LetTEr, almost all types of hate speech unless it is directed at popular Texas politicians, l337 5p34k, referring to things that are stupid or ridiculous as gay.
Things we require from our players:
Basic knowledge:
You must know that there are three variants of the word there and how to use each one:
There — Over yonder
They’re — what they be gonna do
Their — not your’n.
Maturity:
Basically this is an R Rated guild. We do not check ID’s at the door, but if we’re running a dungeon and your mom comes by and hears us using vulgarities in Mumble and makes you sign out we will be angry. At you. Most of our current roster is over 30.
Activity:
Since most of our roster is over 30 we also understand about kids, jobs, hobbies, aging parents etc. We’re good with you playing when you can. This is a very laid back environment and we do not kick for inactivity.
The way the AI world works:
The developers, in their infinite wisdom, have allowed for multiple guilds in GW2. We don’t expect to be your only guild or to always have something on tap that will keep you entertained. We will have events and outtings, but it won’t be a constant thing. Go, play, have fun. For some of us AI is home, and if it becomes home for you too, that’s great; but, if you just want to visit, hang out, and have a few laughs that’s great too. Feel welcome to come and go as you please. I expect that all of us, including leadership, will sometimes go visit and play with other guilds.
We have a group of allies that we have played with for several years. Their rules are different from ours and the rating in alliance chat is G to PG Light. Plus, they hug and stuff. Shudder. But, all in all they are great fun. Treat them as well as you would an AI’er and save the colorful language/stories for guild chat.
The ONLY reason this guild exists is to have fun people to play with. If that’s what you’re looking for this just might be a good spot for you.

I hate the knockback effect. Maybe we could be like thieves and get a “knockback in place” skill.

I like the name.

Why have doubloons not been given their own slots in the mat storage yet?
Because A-Net doesn’t want to encourage you to hoard doubloons (or any upgrade item)

Was very disappointed to see that the beta weekend would be ending on Sunday. With Monday, September 7th being a major holiday in the US it would be great if the beta could be extended to include Monday.
On another note: Thank you once again A-Net for providing the dates far enough in advance so that plans could be made for the weekend. It is MUCH appreciated!
Sorrows Furnace
In my opinion the only way they should be added back into the game is if A-Net re-runs the festival — then they could be awarded to people who get the achievements. It’s not like the achievements were difficult to begin with, but I should be able to trust the devs when they tell me, “This is an exclusive reward.”
Sorrows Furnace
Challenging group content: I hope for Fractal rework with new fractals announced and new dungeons. Fractals would qualify for the “core game” content.

As for the Asura Tonn definitely has a wife. From the wiki:
Like I always tell my wife, Ceera: any lump can hack bad guys to death, but it takes skill and style to turn them into craters and dust.

Ofcourse logan will marry Queen jennah, let’s first find him in the jungle tho, where he went down with the rest of the pact
Unless I’m forgetting something that changed things, shouldn’t Jennah be able to find Logan immediately through their psychic bond? She does that in the book and even opens a portal for him that brings him almost directly to her.
Didn’t Logan have the portal himself? A stone in his pocket? One of Snaff’s creations? It’s been too long since I read it, I can’t remember.
Sorrows Furnace
It will probably be Kasmeer and Marjory. They are only main characters that have relationship going. I don’t follow story much so I could be wrong.
Hmmm…
But that wouldn’t give us the perfect opportunity to see the Queen’s Gauntlet again. I want another Divinity’s Reach Jubilee!
Sorrows Furnace
Note: This post is pure speculation with absolutely no basis.
In Guild Wars 1 we were given the option of buying wedding attire from the game store when Gwen and Kieran got married. Now that_shaman has datamined wedding attire for GW2.
Think Logan and Jenna might finally be tying the knot?

So, if they decided that my permanent mining pick could only be used twice per gathering node instead of 3 times each then I shouldn’t expect a refund for the tool? They’ve changed the functionality of the device and made worth about 1/2 what it was before; surely they should expect people will be dissatisfied with the purchase.
I expect that support will refund the items if people fill out a ticket and ask for a refund.

The problem isn’t the boosts (at least the ones that actually exist) from the gemstore. It’s the boosts that the Candycorn Gobbler spits out are now of a much shorter duration. Seven minutes is just enough to interfere with actually playing the game.
Sorrows Furnace
This is a great idea. It would be very helpful.

- Quest to get/make a glider: There is enough debris to salvage and enough pact ship engineers stranded. Why not do a questline around “We are stranded here and have no means to get around if we don’t have any means to get airborne. Let’s salvage the wracks and see what we can come up with.”…
I fully agree. I know this was just a beta, and we can’t expect everything to be in its finished state, but on release I would very much like a real quest to earn a glider. It’ll make acquiring a glider so much more interesting than ‘suddenly, wings.’
I think this is one of those “fun once” things. A quest to get the glider would be fun on the first character through, cause a few grumbles on the next couple of characters and make me want to rip my eyes out on the subsequent ones. Unless the quest is once per account instead of once per character I like “suddenly wings” just fine!
Now, earning glider skins, that’s a whole other thing, and I would love to be able to acquire different skins for different characters.
Sorrows Furnace
I’m also able to send mail and sell on the tp now too o__o
You should definitely fill out a bug report in-game.

I never managed to get in an adventure, it only says it is not available yet, and i never knew why, so please A-Net make it more clear, why an adventure is not playable.
This! I knew the adventures were supposed to be active, but I never saw one actually working.
Sorrows Furnace
One thing I’m wondering about with the people who are proclaiming how much they love the new mob difficulty, is how much is due to them simply being bored. Months with no new content, not even a festival, and suddenly a new map (ok, part of a map), new mobs, new mob skills, a new profesion, new elites, new weapon skills, new utilities. It’s all new, new, new!
And now they aren’t bored.
But in a couple of months after the expansion starts and they are trying to get to a place on a map and in front of them are a long series of these trash mobs again, will they still be excited to fight them? And when they leave that site and try to get to the next one through another long series of trash mobs that have to be hacked through, will that be exciting too?
I guess time will tell.
If it’s like Orr once we kill Mordremoth they will reduce the density of the mobs. Until then, Mordremoth reigns. Which mostly makes sense from a game play perspective. While the map is new it will need a high density of enemies to keep up with the high density of players.
Sorrows Furnace
When the events in Verdant Brink were running and not broken I had a great time following the event chain.
I really enjoyed the gliders.
I really enjoyed the mobs and trying to figure out the best ways to kill them.
Not having guild chat seriously sucks.
I feel that if there are going to be so few waypoints on a map, especially a map that is difficult to maneuver, then they should never be contested.
Dragon Hunter (at least with a long bow) wasn’t as much fun as pure melee Guardian.
Chronomancer was a lot of fun. It felt sneaky.
Mushroom bouncers are dangerous and deadly if you don’t pay close attention and aim your bounce.
Moving from Bounce to Glider is great fun.
The day/night cycle added frustration with trying to spawn the Wyvern event. Then again, it should always be possible to fail. I am just sorry that I was never able to see the Wyvern event.
I absolutely loved the AI at the event where players are supposed to place bombs in a certain area. The mordrem would immediately train anyone picking up a bomb. That was fun.
Smokescales are ugly. I’ll figure it out eventually, just hope they aren’t nerfed in the meantime.
Sorrows Furnace
Silly question I’m sure, but what benefit is the tether on Justice?
Sorrows Furnace
In before a lot of Q.Q from players…
Finally ! You did challenging monsters, which are strong, deals damage, and need strategy to kill.
For example, the Fog Monster : it doesn’t take any damage when it is in its fog… The first time I got rekt, and then… I understood !
Same for Charging Dino : no damage on the front, only on the side or behind. All I want to say, is THANK YOU. It has been a while I didn’t had that much fun and challenge in PvE combat.
But I fear.
I know that Mordrems Dogs got nerfed, because of retaliation, and most of people where just attacking dumbly, and got reket by their own, so Arenanet decided to nerf that.
Please, stop casual. Everyone at the end will be able to know how to fight, it will just take less or more time for someone.
Don’t make what kill the games today : if a level is too high, instead of puting that level down, and make it easier, just let it that way. It’s Darwinism. Player will success at the end, no matter what.
I also hope they will give us plenty of time to learn how to kill the mobs before just nerfing them. I still haven’t figured out the Smokescale and when they come in pairs they are certainly deadly, but a bit of time and experimenting and I’ll get it. Please no nerfs until well after release — then if it’s needed I won’t complain. But, give us time to rise to the challenge.
Sorrows Furnace
I’ve only seen one event completed in HoT — Defend Skybreaker. Other than than it’s been a complete waste of time to try to participate in any event. Better to just run around and see the map then move back to Central Tyria. Haven’t seen the Wyvern or any other end of cycle boss.
I did see Tigers which makes me hopeful for new ranger pets.
Sorrows Furnace
I really hope they don’t nerf any creature before we get a chance to learn to deal with them.
Sorrows Furnace
After today’s PoI I was expecting to be able to beta test the Central Tyria masteries as well as the Heart of Maguuma ones. But in Tyria I cannot access the mastery tab. It isn’t on the UI.
Sorrows Furnace
For the next BWE would it be possible to create a Beta guild so that our guildmates who are playing beta characters can still interact and socialize?
Sorrows Furnace
There is a really long and punishing jump puzzle in LA — can we turn off the speed boost given by the mastery line if we wish?
Sorrows Furnace
Yes.
What happens in beta, stay in betaLast beta I had some ascended chests closed in my bank, I opened them with my revenant and used the armor, but in my “real” account the chests remained closed.
Thank you very much for your help. I will enjoy my skins while I can
Sorrows Furnace
So, if I use this “clone” skin that is in my bank the “real” skin will reamin in my bank? I’m sorry, not meaning to be obtuse, just don’t want to risk using the skin on my beta character if it might open it on the account. I want to keep the skin to sell later, but would love to use in for the weekend.
Sorrows Furnace
Can we use skins from our account on our beta characters? The wardrobe or skins that are not yet unlocked on our account if we have them available? (I have a chaos longbow skin in my bank, can I use it on my Dragon Hunter without binding it to my account?)
Sorrows Furnace
Honestly, wait for pre-cursor crafting.
There is no reason to complain when things are about to shake up..
GW2 is currently in a state of “wait and see”
Just hoard up whatever you feel like might be useful and continue playing, but I would be hessitant to buy/sell/salvage anything that might have use with crafting since the whole system for legendary creation is about to change.
Actually, it seems perfectly reasonable to complain about this now as long as it is done in a way that is respectful to the developers — complaints are often very helpful. There is a shake-up coming, but it hasn’t happened so far. Yet, this change has been made NOW. It isn’t a good change for me, nor for the OP nor likely for many other players. It’s rather difficult to just “Hoard up whatever you feel like might be useful” when the rate of acquisition has dropped for these.
I’m fine with changes. I’m looking forward to the masteries. But, until we get a mastery bar we should still be getting spirit shards for leveling.
Sorrows Furnace
Tomorrow's PoI: What do you want to know about Pact Commander masteries?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Aye.8392
At some point in the past it was mentioned that some of the “core” (now Central Tyria?) masteries would be retroactive. Is the Pact Commander tract one of these? If not, can you tell us which masteries will be awarded retroactively?
How many total levels does Pact Commander have?
Sorrows Furnace
Just in case you aren’t aware…
With the /me command in game you have the ability to role play any action you wish. More emotes would always be good, but you do have the ability to perform actions already.
/me waits expectantly to be trashed for speaking the obvious even though many people may not know about this feature.
Sorrows Furnace
We should still be able to get a spirit shard when we fill the exp bar. I understand that will become a mastery bar and that the mastery bars will not all fill at the same rate, but until it becomes a mastery bar we should still get a spirit shard for filling it. I am acquiring spirit shards much more slowly than I used to acquire skill points.

Just saw this thread get bumped – missed it the first time a year ago – thanks all! Lots of great stuff in here. Some stuff already on our backlog, some new stuff we added after checking this out.

I am very happy to have hope for some of this stuff. It would be a great QOL improvement.

I think it is very likely that Eir is dead. I’ll be surprised if she isn’t.
Sorrows Furnace
I would love to be able to wear my glasses, bunny ears, gw2 ball cap, etc. with outfits. But if you’re wearing an outfit you have to choose to wear the headgear that comes with the outfit or no headgear at all.
Sorrows Furnace
Dear A-Net,
Thank you very much for giving us notice for this event instead of telling us just a couple days before it happens. This allows me to make plans to include playing Beta, instead of just being disappointed that I’ve already filled my weekend with other activities. I sincerely appreciate this consideration.

So from todays blog post
Just like all future precursor and legendary items, this precursor will be account bound and can’t be traded—it must be earned.
So does this mean that say I get a random new pre cursor drop from an enemy I cannot sell it, if this is the case it seems stupid, I can understand if I made if via the pre-cursor crafting that it would be account bound, but a drop in the game should never be account bound, as some people may get a weapon drop for a legendary they have no interest in at all.
Also on the back of that, where it says it must be earned, I kinda read that like pre’s will not be dropping and that all new legendarys must be done via the pre cursor hunt…
Sorry if this was covered in a previous blog post.
From what they have said new precursors will be account bound on acquire whether they are from drops or from collections. And I have to agree that it isn’t the way I would like to see it. If it’s from a collection and the player has worked for it because it is something they want then it shouldn’t be traded. But, if it comes from a drop I’d like to see it tradable — I can only think of 2 precursors that I would want for myself and only one legendary. To have that kind of high end item drop and have nothing to do with it really sucks.
I’ve had one ascended drop in all of my time playing. One. It was cleric’s. I unlocked the skin and sold the pistol for 1g. Then they came out with the news that stats would be changeable. I didn’t cry, but it’s only because my cat was watching me and I knew he’d make fun.
Sorrows Furnace
My wager is they’re releasing 500 Jeweler and players will be creating some ascended jewelry that will then be available to salvage.
Sorrows Furnace
Thank you Fog — your open missions have been a great help to me and my guild and I appreciate it more than I can tell you. I’ll definitely point any new players I see in your direction.
Sorrows Furnace
I agree. Originally they said they were making it drop faster because people would carry adrenaline from fight to fight. That is no longer a concern, because berserker’s power is from activation now, rather than a passive effect.
Exactly – things change but the nerfs we received are still there.
There’s no reason to keep adrenaline between fights anyway – your best bet is to spend it in the fight in order for you to win. So why exactly does this nerf still apply?Because they don’t want warriors to start a fight with an Earthshaker, Evisicrate or any other burst ability. But it’s pretty annoying how fast it drops though. A 5 second lingering before draining starts would be more than enough in my opinion.
But why? Most melee opens with a burst, both thieves and mesmers burst from stealth. It seems reasonable for warriors to open with a burst. I can see not allowing a warrior to start a battle with full adrenaline if all of the weapon and utility cooldowns are fresh — that would be too much. But unless another opponent is very close 5 seconds of adrenaline won’t hold over anyway, and if the weapon cool-downs from a battle are still active then the adrenaline should also still be active.
Sorrows Furnace
I sympathize even though I don’t think it’s A-Net’s fault. It hurts to lose big money.
I’ve found the weapon skin market to be quite lucrative, but I always go in knowing they could reintroduce skins at any point and that I might either lose money or be sitting on an item for a very long time. I also don’t have the investment capital to lose as big as you have with these, but knowing that the price is unreasonably high for a skin in the game should make investors very hesitant.
Try not to be too discouraged, you’ll make it back. Major shake-ups are coming with HoT, just have to invest in the right items.
Sorrows Furnace
They will also be in Germany next week. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take a break this week.
Sorrows Furnace
This is rather exciting news. Thank you.
Sorrows Furnace
Seriously, write a support ticket. While it was your mistake I’ve seen support help people who made mistakes before. Be courteous, admit your own mistake, don’t try to blame it on them and ask for help. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Could be wrong… but it’s worth a shot.
Sorrows Furnace
I know lots of people complain about the repetitiveness of the events but I really enjoy playing in SW. I play there more than anywhere else and I have no trouble finding an event map. I don’t really see any need to change this map.
Sorrows Furnace
I think A-Net knows where their money comes from. That they know the type of player most likely to buy gems; that they have metrics in place. I’m willing to believe that they know more about it than you do.
Sorrows Furnace
