THE solution to fixing golem exploits/bugs!

Everyone qqing over this is looking at it from the wrong perspective.

Think of it this way: anyone can utilize the buff. Think of it like guard stacks, food buff, or sigil stack. Put in the time and get that buff for yourself. Its your fault for not Devolving with the rest of us.

I’ll leave this here…

I very much doubt there will be bans with the Golem exploit, simply because it only ruins the fun of the game and not the economy of the game. That is, there isn’t a long lasting effect on the game when people use this exploit the way there was with the snowflake mass ban. But I could be wrong. The thing is it is at their sole discretion. I sure wouldn’t be taking chances with it and I don’t believe anyone who values their account should take part in this exploit.

Do we have an approximation to how many people were banned? Like you, I doubt they would ban this many. Though that is interesting.

I certainly don’t know how many were banned, but I heard reports that it was in the hundreds. The outcry on the forums from people who lost guild leaders, guild mates, main accounts, and such was fairly extreme. My guess is that it was significantly more than the number that would be banned because of the golem exploit simply because a whole heckuva lot more people are concerned with making money than with playing WvW. But the snowflake exploit had a lasting impact on the economy of the game that affected every active player at the time. It wasn’t about cheaters, it was about cheaters destroying the economy.

Server dependent marketing area

in WvW

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

The megaservers have made it very difficult for WvW. You can’t do a call out in LA for more players to defend Garrison, or recruit for a WvW guild… It’s bad for WvW, but the megaservers are good for PvE, and no question about it. Going into a heavily populated LA feels good. Being able to recruit and play with guild members no matter what server they are on is a good thing.

What I propose is a marketing area similar to the Airship or the Royal Terrace that is server dependent. A place that offers PvE’ers a good reason to sometimes go there — free access, conveniently placed services, egress to the same place that you left. A server based area that would let people from WvW jump in and ask for players to go help with an attack on Stone Mist, or ask for extra borderland defense…

I do understand that the market centers are currently a profit center for A-Net, but WvW is also a profit center. WvW desperately needs a server based area in the PvE main maps.

No guild panel? Sorry Anet :(

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Maybe I wasn’t clear. I understand that there are reasons why I can’t access guild panels. The point is that I find the experience very lonely and isolated when I cannot talk to my friends (who don’t all have beta access, by the way).

I believe it’s in my right to express my regret over this.

I will express my regret over this, too. I made a revenant, but when I saw that I had no guild access I deleted it and went back to my guild. As long as there is no NDA there should always be guild access.

It really should be that switching legendary stances also switches weapons. It would just be wrong to see Shiro (or even Jalis) with a staff.

The play style with the revenant is currently tied down too much. The weapon skills need to be able to change. Having them change when you switch stances makes the most sense — you don’t get to customize at all, but you get a full bar change when you swap.

I paid money, but can't stress test?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Aye.8392

The word WEEKEND isn’t capitalized n their site. Apologists on the forums clarifying poorly worded or misleading statements on their main site are not the same as a company being clear about their policy to paying customers.

Their stress test announcement came after I paid them money. Their main site needs to be changed to very clearly tell people that many events will only be open to a select group of customers.

It isn’t poorly worded, and it isn’t about what day of the week the test is occurring. It’s about whether it is or isn’t HoT content. The WvW map will be released with HoT, but it is specifically NOT HoT content. It is available to players who do not buy HoT, it is core game content, and it is not what you bought when you bought the prepurchase. The same with Stronghold… Core content. The Revenant, however, is HoT content and you are invited to Beta it this weekend with your prepurchase agreement.

I am not fond of the change that puts the trait points onto equipment — which is very static — and not into a more fluid medium like trait lines. Taking away the ability to increase condition and boon durations also kinda sucks. I’d much rather that they had given us points to place as we wished on the fly instead of dumping them into equipment.

I can’t say that it ruined anything for me, it’s just that more choice is better. There is very little choice left in this game.

Harassment in game, what can we do ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

I have to ask. How do you “physically harass” someone, outside of PvP and being in the same match and being on opposite sides? About all I can think of is throwing down skills with visible effects and jumping up and down, which are easily ignored by most people.

I have to disagree with you here. This is not easily ignored and, for me at least, it had the effect of making me want to leave the game. I was in Silverwastes when this happened to me, and it was extreme. I went to a different fort, played in a different area, stopped playing in forts at all and just escorted bulls, and it didn’t matter. Whatever I did, this player was bouncing up and down on my character. The thing is, we had no verbal interaction at all. I hadn’t said something to anger them, hadn’t been speaking in map or local at all, but for an unknown reason they decided to make my play session horrible.

Since the play style in this particular complaint is PvP then the victim of this harassment isn’t able to choose to play in another area. It’s Heart of the Mists or nothing. Customer service needs to take action against the players that are making this person’s gaming session miserable.

This is a very dangerous move by Arena net that will only hurt their image very severely. So instead of asking your customers for this idea. suggestions and their opinions about this very dangerous design: you do it anyways.

It is the same idea and mindset Arena net using for thief profession stealth. But this time, they cross the line. Forcing their ideas and belief to their customers is not acceptable.

Example:

It is like putting a religious staff in the main entrance of the building for service.

I do not have problem with any belief, religion etc… but i have a problem with a company who believes forcing their beliefs into their customers. Belief is private and personal

Arena net should know better than that: i am very disappointed Arena net!!

Suggestion:

Allow the npc to be selected in players personal and private guild halld.

" Freedom isn’t forcing your beliefs on others "

I’m throwing a party and I have TONS of snacks. Cake is one of the items, along with chips, soda, crackers, cookies, jello, tapas, etc. The cake is there. You don’t have to eat the cake. You don’t even have to look at the cake if you don’t want to. By having cake at my house, I am not “forcing my beliefs” about cake on you. The cake is merely there, because cake exists, and some people like cake.

Yay! Party at Ferretz’ house!

I’m glad there is cake in the world. And I’m glad that Sya is in the game. Even if some people are terrified of the idea, even if some people are angered, even if some people are threatened by her simple existence, I’m still glad she’s in the game.

Exclusive items should stay exclusive.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

I like having some exclusive items in the game. I like it that some are earned like Liadri, and I like it that some are, “I was there when…” like the celebration cap or the Mad Memories. I think of those things sort of like concert T-Shirts — you get them at the concert, and you don’t get them anywhere else. When I see one out in the world I think, “Oh cool! I was at that concert too, and it rocked!” Or, “Man I would have loved seeing that…”

I was a little bummed when they put the season 1 rewards on the laurel vendor, not because I want to have things that no one else can have, but because it’s like having concert t-shirts at the mall shop. But I was far more bummed that season 2 didn’t have those types of memory rewards.

I never resent the person who has what I do not, or something that I can’t get any longer; nor do I believe that other people pay so much attention to what I have that they are wrapped in envy when they see something that I have that they can’t get. I think it’s odd when posts imply that people do feel either of those things.

[HELP] We don t want guild mission

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

Hi,

We are a guild of 3 guys . We love WWW.
With Guild halls , we will have to do guild missions.

So why we have to do puzzle jump and things like this , when in this game we just love killing people on the battlefield !

Why can t we play as we want .. ??

HoT will include a solution for this for both guilds that are WvW, and PvP oriented that want to build and expand their Guild Halls and need the favor generated by guild missions. Same goes for guilds that have a mix of players interested in all three. More info down the road a bit on how this will work once we’ve got it a little more solid on our end.

Edited to add: Everyone will have to do the actual mission to capture the guild hall once per hall though no matter what. If your group online is too small, you’ll need to invite friends (or pay/beg/sing-songs-to-woo peeps in Lion’s Arch!) to come with you and help you claim the guild hall to own one. Or you could always grow your guild

Thanks Colin, I’m very glad to hear that we can recruit non-member help to capture the guild halls. Much appreciated!

Shouldn't S2 be included in HoT Package?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Aye.8392

No, it shouldn’t be included in the HoT package. It’s for sale in the gem store and if anyone really wants it they can use gold to get the gems for it. No, it isn’t part of the core game, it isn’t part of HoT, it is a separate offering at a separate price — free to those that were here to support it at the time it was current content (and therefore be enticed to buy gems at the time), paid for those that were not. It’s really a simple concept — not everything is free.

Hmm, appreciate the response.

Warcraft has a policy where if the guild owner has not logged in in 90 days, then another member of Rank 1, 2 or 3 can gain control of the guild.

I will be writing customer service at ArenaNet because I do believe it is incumbent on them to have a solution for this.

If you want a guild buy a license and start one; then invite all of the people that are in your current guild if you’d like. Asking customer service to take away the ranking of someone who bought the license and chose not to have a co-leader is just wrong.

[Suggestion] Extra Toon Slot is nice, but...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aye.8392

This has been brought up several times in the main HoT thread posted by Gaile. She has not responded to any of those concerns that I have seen aside from stating that we will get a second character slot. I’m not exactly pleased with it as well as the character slot was part of the value of the Deluxe/Ultimate edition as the standard didn’t come with it. A second slot is of no value to me.

It’s kind of funny all the people that were up in arms over the initial pre-purchase that now got what they wanted, a free character slot, and now acting hostile towards those that purchased the upgraded version and would like to discuss some other option.

I bought the Ultimate last week too. I’ll be getting every single thing I paid for, plus an extra character slot. I see absolutely no reason to complain about getting an extra character slot. If nothing else it will become a mule because extra storage is nice.

I could understand some of the complaints before, but now it just seems that people are pushing for the love of pushing.

  • We’ll be jumping into the game throughout the day.
  • We’ll do our best to stop by any in-game events or parties that are going on. Because goodness knows, ArenaNet folks love a good party.
  • Some of us may be chattier than others because in celebration of the build, we’re having coffee carts in the morning and a few of us ~whistles~ tend to really enjoy that caffeine buzz. Flying chat fingers, ftw!
  • Each team member will let you know when he or she joins the game. We don’t have special chat colors, but we’ll definitely try to let you know we’re in and where we are. (I have my spot all picked out.)
  • The characters you meet tomorrow are official non-play characters created for events through a special process. They will not be used to play; they will not impact the game economy; they will not participate in WvW or PvP. They cannot give away items or currency, nor can they accept anything.

We are really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, and even more, to you seeing the beautiful new Lion’s Arch!

I’m really looking forward to tomorrow too, and I would love to party with the CM team, but how do we end up in the same server? Will adding the name you’ve specified to our friend’s list help?

Skill points and Spirit Shards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

A quick update on this one -> After feedback from presenting the original hero point count – we decided getting to level 80 will give you enough hero points to unlock all the core skills and traits entirely. Doing hero challenges (aka skill challenges) will simply allow you to earn all the skills/traits earlier before level 80. With the release of HoT, there will be options to spend the excess hero points earned from doing hero challenges in the world.

There are a number of other changes on 6/23 to make the experience from 1-80 more exciting, better-paced, rewarding, and fun as well after having the time to evaluate and player feedback from the updates last year.

I think the price for the basic expansion would be fine if it included a character slot. I think it’s high without a character slot. I am okay with the pricing for the Ultimate package since it includes both a character slot and $50 worth of gems, but I think the Deluxe Package is overpriced for what is included.

This is probably how A-Net wants us to feel about things — that way they collect $100 for the expansion instead of $50.

GW1 expansion didn’t include a new class or race so no reason really to need a new slot.

Here I have 4 choices :
- fork an extra $10
- create a new account and leave all my 6 chars in the “dust”
- delete a char I spent time building, leveling and equipping
- just not use that new HoT feature, the Revenant, which in a way cheapens the value of the addon itself I’m buying

There is one more option — don’t buy the expansion and continue to play what you’ve already bought. It’s something that must be considered when looking at the price and what is included for the price.

Why are people in a hurry to reach max level?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Aye.8392

I think we might fall into two categories.

  • The “race for the roses” type of gamer, players who rush through content as quickly as possible to get to the top level, end game, etc.
  • “The “stop and smell the roses” sort of gamer, players who take their time and probably engage more in the environment, story, personal interaction, etc.

“Different strokes for different folks,” as the old saying goes. I fall into the second category and I admit it, sometimes it makes me a little sad to know how much some people miss by not savoring the moment, as least with one character.

It is every bit as easy to savor the moment on a level 80 character as it is on a level 14 character. There is nothing in the game that prevents reading text, interacting with NPC’s, following DE chains or anything else just because you are level 80.

Not savoring the moment is a completely different issue to leveling quickly.

Since tomes are available I will never again worry about leveling any character. I expect I won’t create one until I have 80 levels sitting in the bank and can pop them all off at once. Then I’ll play. I’ll read, I’ll savor, I’ll team up with friends, I’ll laugh, I’ll PLAY, but I won’t LEVEL. Because there is never a reason to be at any other level other than 80.

Make (Fast Hands + Warrior Sprint) Baseline

in Warrior

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

Removing Fast Hands would logically lower the value of weapon-swapping (you’d swap less often). The consequences are:

  • Weaker weapons rotations, because of the reduced CD’s synergies between weapons (including the burst skill). This means a reduced efficiency of the warrior, in both attacking and defending. This also means a reduced adrenaline building rate, since we’d be hitting less.
  • Weaker effects of traits benefiting from weapon-swapping: condition cleansing (Brawler’s Recovery), might building (Versatile Power), adrenaline building (Versatile Rage).
  • Weaker effects of burst-based features, because of the overall drop of the adrenaline building rate: less bursts means less condition cleansing (Cleansing Ire), less endurance regeneration (Building Momentum), less critical chance (Critical Burst, only interesting in “pulsing” bursts though).
  • Reduced value of weapon-swapping sigils. The warrior, thanks to Fast Hands, can take great advantage of these sigils (though admittedly not as well as eles or engies).

As one can see, swapping weapons is critical for the warrior, it’s not just nice to have, the class is built around it. Removing Fast Hands would increase build diversity for sure, but would render the whole class mechanics not only inefficient, but also ineffective. One would have to significantly reengineer the class to make Fast Hands optional (and such a thing would go beyond a mere class specialization).

I don’t believe anything else needs to be said.

It doesnt “Hurt” me. Its a bloody annoyance. I dont remember they are, they dont talk to me. Why are they there then? what is the point of following someone you never whisper or do anything with? Nothing hurting here at all, i just would rather have a follower list made up of people that i know, do stuff with and talk to, instead of one filled with people who never get online, or do get online but never talk to me. Its pointless for them to follow me if they dont ever want to do anything with me. When ive tried to get ahold of them to find who they are, i never hear back, so again, why keep following me?

You have complete control over your own friends list, you just don’t have control over anyone else’s. If you are added it shows up to let you know that you’ve been added. If you then block your “follower” they will receive no more information about you.

I sometimes put people that I’ve reported onto friends list so that I can see if they disappear for a few days. Stalking for the win!

Ugh, this. Please Anet, make a male charr who has nice teeth…please..

They did. His name was Tybalt. Unfortunately, we aren’t him.

As for dental plans, ANet is notoriously unfair to its virtual employees. Look at how many dull and broken fangs we get out of wargs, wolves, and other such critters.

Yes, Tequatl’s fangs fall out all the time. It’s why he can only eat soup.

I had very little time to play the Beta last night but when I got home from work my wife and I jumped in. We immediately teamed up and started play. We went through Amber and into the first instance which we completed fairly quickly but when it was done I was in Maguuma and she was in “Silverwastes”. The portal between Maguuma and Silverwastes was disabled for beta and it did not allow me to rejoin with her. Even though she had completed the instance with me the WP in Maguuma did not open for her so we could not join there either. She did not receive any rewards, have any option of accepting storyline progress, or even have progress through the area saved while playing my instance. I could not return to her and play with her in her own instance.

I will say right now that we bought this game for the sake of playing it together and with other members of our family. Not being able to do so ruins any interest I have in the game.
