Your top 5 design mistakes in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

1. No cross-region play — cutting me off from a large portion of the world, especially those friends that I made in GW1 is horrid. That we COULD guest together in beta, and up until the time that guesting was implemented made it that much harder to swallow.

2. No guild alliances — there were well established alliances in GW1 that were given absolutely no accommodation in GW2.

3. Poor Trading Post mechanics — the trading post itself is an extraordinary concept, and it works incredibly well except where it doesn’t work at all. The lack of sorting by armor type is a big deal, having things like the boxes of armor that don’t have the armor type on them (medium or light), having hidden charges that can actually take the profit of a listing down below the merchant value… The TP definitely needs work.

4. Forced solo instances in an MMO — with scaling available there should never be times when I CAN’T play with my friends/family. I am happy that there are places that people who prefer to play solo can do so — the whole majority of the world is this way. Forced solo isn’t good.

5. Time-gated content that requires daily game play for the sake of crafting mats, meta achievements, etc. I know this doesn’t affect everyone, but it’s a huge deal for ME.

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

Aye.8392

Continued form above…

Agents come in seven different quality types corresponding with gear rarity; common, fine, master, rare, exotic, ascendant and legendary. The bulletin board in your headquarters will track potential recruits of common to rare quality. Exotic quality and better recruits will be found through rare events similar to the Treasure Skritt as well as meta achievements from the living world, WvW and SPvP. Random events in dungeons could also be set up to introduce special dungeon themed agents; like a freed ghost from Ascalon Catacombs or a Dredge rebel from Sorrow’s Embrace. All agents that are not out on a mission will appear in your headquarters in uniform or out in your home instance in plainclothes or custom gear skins. As your agents gain experience they will progress from trainees to field agents. Successful agents can be promoted to the coveted position of special operative or even one of five management positions in your headquarters.

While managing your agents would be an important part of the sub game you would also gain access to personal missions from the bulletin board. These missions would send you out into the open world similar to Guild missions and allow you to kick off events that award faction commendations to anyone who participates. Commendations would be used to buy order skinned soulbound exotic and ascended gear as well as order specific miniatures and other cosmetic rewards. Missions would vary by faction from members of the vigil going out and fighting large champions and world bosses to the priory searching for artifacts to the order of whispers sneaking into places to steal plans and gain intelligence on the various villains of Tyria. Anyone who participates in an order’s mission would receive that order’s commendations. Characters that are in a specific order would receive a commendation discount in that order’s store.

As you gain reputation with your Order and upgrade your headquarters new upgrades and mission types can be unlocked. Depending on your upgrades you might focus on espionage missions over combat or crafting over exploration. Once your reputation reaches a certain level you will be offered the chance to open Order headquarters in other cities. You may even have the chance to take over command of your order entirely.

Key Features:

  • New content that provides new purpose for the home instance
  • New long term progression system that emphasizes organization and gameplay over gear.
  • Customizable headquarters for your Order
  • New dynamic events that directly affect who you see in your home instance
  • New crafting recipes that improve your agent’s stats
  • Open world content that bases events on how you play
  • Story that brings back characters from the early parts of GW2: The Road to Orr
  • Unique decorations and premium headquarter skins in the gem store
  • The opportunity to build an all Quaggan army for the order of whispers

Challenges

  • Large number of new interfaces needed to be made.
  • New code that affects the back end of the game
  • Long implementation curve may need to be released in small chunks
  • May pull players out of the open world initially

Opportunities

  • Provide a framework for player/guild housing.
  • Allow players to affect the world individually
  • Invests players in the world
  • Adds passive progression that makes players excited to log on
  • A platform to provide lore and living story links beyond “your herald told you to”
  • Monetize new art assets that can be used to expand the world

TLDR : I would like to see a horizontal progression system in the game that focuses on investing us in the world of Tyria; a system that allows us to build something beyond our character’s stats and appearance. I would like to see a system that rewards gameplay with expanded options to generate world content for yourself and other players.

This sounds like a great game, but it doesn’t sound at all like GW2.

Want to chime in with this small thought:

Time gates have no place whatsoever in a supposedly casual and player friendly / grind free game.

This is not true.

The point of time gating isn’t “You can ever catch up faster than once per day while you are in game at all”

It’s “You can never fall behind faster than 1 per day while you’re gone.”

Any change directed toward alleviating the first statement has to not invalidate the second…

Time gates grind their boots of the faces of people who play for 8 hours a day far more vigorously than they do on people who log in for 45 minutes.

Where improvement seems possible to me is maybe some of those gates can be “saved up”. If you were gone for most of a week, would it be wrong for the game to let you to finish today’s set of dailes, then have yesterday’s pop-up, and if you finished those have the day before that pop up, and so on until you’ve back-tracked through as many as you care to from the days you decided going skiing was more important than logging in…?

This! I hadn’t thought of it in quite these terms before, seeing only what time-gating takes away from me, but you are exactly spot on. Having some way to catch up to the pace that A-Net has decided is okay would be a huge boon for the players that can’t be in every day.

Hi, I encourage everyone to read this thread which was recently created.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/What-if-hearts-were-repeatable-for-T6/first#post3386694

The OP had an amazing idea to get players back into the open world, and provide players with another method of T6/end game materials (or can be designed to include actual gear) acquisition which I feel is relevant to this topic.

Summary: At max level, have each map/renown heart completable once per month. The hearts reward T6 materials(the quantity is up for debate). Full map completion in a zone(hearts only…) would reward something substantial like a core, 5 ects, and whatever else.

Heck, extend this idea to Dynamic Events. "Complete 10 events for X items, 25 for X+X items, 50, 100, and so on.

This entire idea serves multiple purposes:
1. Gets players into the open world, into any zone(really, all zones because once you’ve re-completed all the renown hearts in one zone, you can go onto the next zone of your choosing…same thing with the Dynamic Event idea I proposed).
2. Rewards max level players for simply playing the game.
3.Whether youre creating a legendary, ascended armor/weapons, or whatever..you could be working toward character progression.

I love this idea…the rewards have to be just right. One T6 item for a renown heart won’t work, but this can be debated.

Having a book, like those used in GW1 for repeating missions would be reasonable — or possibly separate books for Ascalon, Kryta, etc. You complete an event, a page fills, you complete the full book and turn it in at a collector for the designated reward whether that be mats or tokens toward gear.

ps: I already never want to do another heart for the rest of my life, but I love doing events, dungeons, jumping puzzles, or simply rampaging through a zone with my wonderful guildies. I would also really love some type of journal that let me know if I were missing events that happen in a specific area — combining these things with gear acquisition would be great.

Also — crafting recipes… this is actually a great idea for progression, but having unique recipes where the product is then account bound kills the whole reason that I want to have them. Sure, I might want to make something for myself, but I’d also like to send something to friends, and maybe put it up for sale to make a profit. If time gating ( which is truly detrimental to my play style) is okay to allow crafters to make money then why shouldn’t unique recipes that fall only during a limited time be allowed to be used to make crafters some money?

Bells + blocking function

Aye.8392

Hi

There are so many bell-spammers out there, they put the highest note on auto-cast and standing at the bank or the TP in lionsarch
Yes, you can switch instrument-sounds to zero
BUT I love to walk through LA and suddenly hear someones playing a nice song with his bell/flute
So I always have to switch the instument-sounds on again when those spamming kids are gone
I often forget that, so I’m sure I missed many nice sessions in LA :-/

So my question is:
Why not mute someones bell/flute/whatever if I put him on my ignore-list?

Greetings from germany

That’s a great idea Nicron. Ignoring someone fully should be possible. No more emotes, no more instruments, no more anything. It would be a very nice fix and it wouldn’t bog down support.

  • Remove Repetitive, Archaic, Cosmetic Gating/Make skins Into an Easy to Use Collection
This is one area I was extremely surprised that Anet is years behind the current MMO standards. DCUO is the prime example of how cosmetics should be handled. Having individual items with individual looks feels like nothing more than a reason to sell more bag slots. When I get an item, I should be able to use a transmutation stone to unlock the skin. I’m not talking about having skins like in the achievement panel or the pvpvlocker. Even that is pretty clunky. I should be able to right click an arrow next to an equipped item & see a window of my skins, like the skill bar. then I can just click the one I want to currently use. Anything else just seems like a waste of UI space & time. I have to say, I’m surprised Anet missed this MMO convention. They usually seem to want to be on the forefront with features & focus on cosmetics. But this time around it seemed 2 steps back.

This would rock, and I would actively work at unlocking all of the skins — this is a long term goal I could easily get behind. I don’t think attaining the “elite” skins should be easy, but being able to use them easily would be very nice indeed.

The topic will be around Player Progression: Horizontal vs Vertical Progression.

This horse left the barn Nov 2012 …

This is true, but I’d like to be sure the corral gate is closed. Plus, it’s about much more than gear to me. I can no longer be an effective combatant in WvW because I don’t already have the ranks and abilities that others have there.

I’m okay with vertical progression in some, very limited, parts of the game — for example Fractals of the Mist and the gear required there — but in other parts of the game it is seeping in and it really needs to be stopped.

Guild wars 2 IS alt friendly

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

I feel that GW1 was a lot more alt friendly, but that is just me.

I didn’t play GW1, did they do account bound only items instead of soulbound?

GW1 had a mixed mechanic. Armor was soulbound to the character, but it was super, super cheap to get BiS gear. Once you had level 20 armor, you were done. The quest turned into a quest of not looking like a scrub.

For weapons they had something called customization. Weapons can be passed from one character to the next however customizing the weapon to a character would “soulbind” it to said character, and that weapon would do an additional 20% damage. 20% extra damage was the price of making the weapon soulbound. IN GW2 is simply a penalty.

Well, aside from BiS being super easy to get as of today, it actually sounds pretty close to what GW2 has going on. That customization thing sounds like a form “Soulbound on Use”.

Although I don’t understand quite what you mean. The soulbound weapons did 20% more damage, but 20% damage was also the price of making it soulbound? Am I reading that wrong.

The main difference between customizing a weapon and soulbound on use is that you could use the weapon for as long as you wished before selling it to another player without ever customizing it. If you were using it in PvP you’d definitely want to customize, otherwise, depending on your profession and build you might never customize at all.

equip-able armor did not drop from mobs; armor had to be purschased from a vendor and was soulbound on acquire. However, armor could cost a very small amount or be incredibly expensive depending only on the looks of the pieces. I could have a set that cost 1,500 gold or a set that cost a million gold (obsidian) that provided exactly the same protection. In GW1 you never had to grind for gear, and absolutely nothing was time-gated.

I think that’s fair but there wasn’t much back and forth on the topic sense our commander system is so simple there isn’t much to discuss.

Thanks for the feedback though I’ll make sure and cover some more reasoning/explanation for things next time.

I would have really enjoyed hearing what the devs would like to see in a commander system, what makes you decide to keep the PvE and WvW functionality the same, what are some creative uses you’ve seen of the squad functions, how did you expect it to be used at launch and what did you include that you are disappointed that players didn’t use?

Yes, your system is very simple — why? What decisions influenced that? Where do you want it to go, what ideas did you hear in the thread that inspired you? What made you think, “Now that’s a good idea!” and what made you roll your eyes.

To me it seems that we are looking for interaction, but what we’re getting is a few focusing questions and nothing else. Even so, I can see the Initiative being helpful to the Devs. Throw us some crumbs in the way of personal interactions, let us see a little bit of personality and some feedback on which thoughts and ideas are valued and you’ll get even better participation from the players.

Devs dueling in the mists on ready up show

in PvP

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

Don’t get me wrong…I thought the new pvp show “ready up” by anet was absolutely great and I look forward to seeing it more. One thing that upset me though, is how easy it was for the devs to duel each other in the heart of the mists. Power and Karl dueled in the heart of the mists by the golems to demonstrate new healing skills. In order to duel, all karl had to do was enter ONE LINE OF CODE!!!!!

This is unacceptable because we have been begging for dueling since the game launched and even beta. Every other major mmo has dueling everywhere in the pve world, except maybe cities but they allow dueling right out front which gives people a lot to do in their spare time. The fact that they can just enter one line of code and duel each other sickens me….it is pure laziness that dueling has not been added to this mmo yet. Dueling should be done by the skills and balance/pve team so the pvp team wouldn’t have to worry about it. It would give people a lot to do while waiting for queues/screwing around etc.

Please implement dueling….I am very sad after seeing the devs do it so easily when we wait over a year and still no talk of dueling…

If you’re right and it would be easy to code, but they still haven’t done it that indicates that they don’t want it in the game. I’m glad, I don’t want it in the game either, at least not in open world PvE. Were they to add a pit to the OS to give some type of player policed dueling fine, but standing in front of a dungeon in the open world… I would hate that.

In my case for example i’m on one server where normally we have a public commander with the tag on, and a few guilds raiding along the map with the typical mark of CTRL+T to not attract the no-guild raiding players. Sometimes this method have some problems to know where are the other guilds or the public commander to know where are all the guilds raiding, so we end at the same spot to take supplies for example or sieging the same build at different spots(yes, I know it sound absurd).

I have the same issue. Commanders should ALWAYS know where other commanders are… it’s also one of the reasons people don’t join squads. When players currently join a squad they can’t see any other commander pins.

People like being informed. Knowing where your ally commander is fighting so you can take your smaller squad to ninja a tower/camp on the opposite side of the map is huge. If they implement colors and unique shapes to commander pins…. I’d also like to see changes made to show ALL commander pins while in a squad. Or at the very least make all commanders see all pins, both guild/private and public.

This functionality is very important. We need to be able to see all commanders on a map whether we are in a squad or not.

I would like to see the ability for the Commander of the map to act as a Server Moderator where the Commander has the ability to do a couple functions:

/mute [player name] – Makes it so a player cannot communicate in Map chat for 30 minutes. (Used to keep players from taking their drama in Map Chat or spamming nonsense in map chat).

/remove [player name] – Removes player from Borderland and sends them to overflow borderland, unable to return for 30 minutes (used to remove griefing players who are purposely harming WvW by draining supply, killing Golums off cliffs, etc. Limit of 1 per 15 min to eliminate abuse)

No, the commander tag should not be a God mode. We certainly don’t need players with the ability to disrupt the play of others. If someone is that bad use the /Report feature.

Commander gating

  • Current 100g gate isn’t the cleanest gate. (Whole goal behind a gate is to limit the number of commanders out there.
  • Gating using WvW abilities seems to have some debate to it, but seems like something we should avoid.
  • Account bound commander tags vs character bound.

Question
3) A guild gating system would be clean but require all commanders to be in a fairly active guild is this a fair gating system?

Question
If there will be any change to the Commander Gating, does that mean everybody start from scratch? or current Commanders still get to keep their tags? Because I would hate to lose/get a refund on my tag. I saved hard for that when i had very little cash and would like to keep it.

1.) How important is it to see your squad members as a different color and always visible on your map like party?

2) I’ve always felt the best commander organization tool would be the ability to create events. Like drop a siege and the commander can set this is a build event then everyone gets Ui like build this flame ram 0/50 supply needed. Or Destroy this gate <show gate health bar>. Lets assume for this discussion there are no rewards to the events just a communication tool. Thoughts on commander created events?

3) A guild gating system would be clean but require all commanders to be in a fairly active guild is this a fair gating system?

1. in wvw, considering i can manage fine without it now and only see luxury benefits from it, i dont think its really necessary. for guild missions itd be truly useful and incomparable (especially because the only players visible on the map are party members and commanders).

2. i like it, but there is almost 0 use in open field battles. your attention must be anywhere but the top right corner of your screen. i think itd be great for training new players. would i use it? probably only if event creation were as simple as calling target on the ram site or door.

3. i think no. guild membership has even less bearing on game knowledge and leadership ability than amassing x amount of tradable currency. plus, people already complained a LOT about how they felt forced to join large guilds in order to take part in guild missions. giving guilds the ability to hand out commander tags wont do anything to discourage trolls or encourage leaders. in fact, we already have the unfortunate situation of guild sponsored commander tags that are just wasted donations, though its not prevalent.

All of this.

1. As a Guild/PvE commander seeing the squad as colored dots would be very beneficial.

2. I can see it being useful, but by no means necessary.

3. You shouldn’t have to belong to a guild to be a commander.

We often run guild only forces, but occasionally invite non-guild members for multiple group havoc forces. People shouldn’t be forced to leave a guild and join yours, just so they can run under your pin. Making a private option allows for guild only, or guild with some friends. If players enjoy running smaller size forces consisting of a few groups, it shouldn’t exclude non- guild members.

Agree with this to an extent — I’d like to see it where people who are members of your guild, even if not currently representing, can see the tag and join the squad.

Perhaps the largest question I still have, how would everyone feel if the only changes to commander were the smaller scale ones? The other stuff is super interesting and has a lot of promise, but is also a major task and one I can’t make any guarantees about. I suppose the crux of the question is how priority is the rest of the stuff, if the smaller bits are taken care of? Would the commander system be functional enough with more markers, guild only tags, less suppression, better supplyinfo, and possibly additional marker shapes?

Add the ability to Join Squad by typing in the commander’s name to this functionality and that would be perfect for me. Most especially if the Guild Only tag works for everyone who is a member of the guild, whether they are currently representing or not. That would ROCK!

Mai Trin & Captain Horrik destroyer of pugs.

in Fractured

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

I find it’s mostly a case of people not knowing what to do in the fight. To those people, here’s how to make it much easier:

Setup:

Bring lots of condition removal. Blocks and skills that grant Vigor are also helpful. Long-distance res skills can be useful during the cannon phases, but more often than not the guy who goes down will be killed before you can get it off.

Important things to know:

1. Mai Trin has Captain’s Shielding that makes her take 10% less damage for each stack she has. The only way to remove her Shielding is to have her stand in the electric fields fired by Horrik.

2. Mai Trin will automatically res Horrik if he is killed, so there’s no point to killing him unless you’re after the achievement. Note that there seems to be a bug where as long as you damage Horrik during the fight, you’ll get his achievement at the end anyway.

Battle Phase:

During the battle phases, stay close to Mai Trin. She always shadow steps to the person furthest away from her, so keeping your distance is a BAD idea (you will always get targeted). There’s no need to stack on her (that just lets Mai Trin get her 15 stacks of Bleed on your entire party); just move in small circles around her but stay close enough so that you can easily keep her in Horrik’s electric fields. Use your condition removal if Mai gets lots of Bleeding on you. Warriors with Shake it Off!, Rangers with Healing Spring, and traited Guardians/Eles can make this fight much easier.

It’s difficult, but possible to dodge Mai Trin’s shadowstep. You can also block the attack, which results in Mai Trin remaining in her old position. Reflecting her projectile will actually teleport YOU to her. (At least, that’s how it used to work during the initial dungeon. Not sure if that’s still true.)

Cannon Phase:

At 75/50/25% health, Mai Trin and Horrik will teleport up on the platforms and start raining down cannon barrages. The best tactic for this part is to have everybody split up and go to a different corner of the room. (The 5th person can remain in the center.) This is because each player gets his own set of AoE barrages; if players are too close together, the barrages overlap and leave you with no room to move.

If players are split up, the barrages are light enough that you can mostly sidestep the AoE’s. Dodge if necessary, but try to avoid moving into another player’s zone.

If somebody goes down, use a long-range res skill if you have it, but if they die, don’t try and res them. That just results in you going down as well. Instead, move the fight with Mai closer to the dead person and res them while avoiding Mai’s attacks.

TLDR: In battle phases, stay close to Mai. In cannon phases, split up.

This is a very helpful post. Thank you

This ‘all or nothing’ attitude is fine for what we have now (because ‘all’ is virtually ‘nothing’…) but if we start to add things like group buffs, increased survivability in friendly zergs, reduced costs for upgrading siege equipment, and other things that actually set a commander apart for building and directing squads, we benefit from some sort of progression scheme, and progression fueled by something other than Gold.

Please God, never let anything like this happen! This would be horrendous for the game!

I bought my commander’s tag a long time ago mostly as an experiment to try to recreate alliance chat, which did actually work to some degree, but didn’t work well— too messy to get people into the group and too difficult to keep the group going long-term.

I have never used my tag in WvW — only for guild outtings in PvE. I don’t want to have to earn a tag in WvW unless there is also some other method of obtaining a PvE tag.

Things I would like to see:

Join Squad button like the Join Party button — type in the commander’s name and be placed into their squad even if you are not on the same map.

An option to make the tag only visible to guild members, or people who are a part of the squad.

An option to kick people from the squad at the commander’s sole discretion

Different tag colors/icons

It would really, really rock if gold dots showed on the map for squad members the way that blue dots show for party members. If this were the case the commander could ask for a small team to split to a separate objective, and be able to see when the positions on the map.

Account-wide Commander status would be great, but if that is the case the mouse-over should the account name and not character name. If I find someone that I love to follow I want to recognize them at a glance — same for people that I hate to follow.

I like that, add more parental controls to the game that are optional for mature users. Perhaps make it interactive, so that parents can run through a list and check a word and variations of it to appear as “kitten.” That could be long and tedious, but it is the parents’ jobs to protect their children -not the rest of the worlds’.

It is every players “job” to abide by the rules that they agree to when they accept the TOS. If they can’t keep the agreements that they’ve made they should expect to be reported. Saying that puts them to protecting other people’s children isn’t accurate. There are people playing this game from all over the world and from all walks of life and consequently the rules of polite society apply — through the TOS.

Pet name violations, guild name violations, chat violations, all are reportable. The OP is simply asking for an easy way to report, and I agree with the suggestion. Making an easy way to report would be great.

[Lore] Scarlet and the Reactor. It fits.

in Fractured

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

Disclaimer: I haven’t finished the instance. I very seldom use guides to learn to beat content, and didn’t find the button on the wall to open the control panel, so I never made it past the first phase of the fractal, so I certainly don’t know all that happens. With that said…

First, I don’t hate Scarlet — I’m pretty neutral, and sometimes I think she’s humorous and fun. But here is the issue in my mind: Timeline. Fractals are a way for us to play with time. They show us things that have already occurred, or that will occur in the future. The reactor incident is in the past — the meltdown had already occurred when the game launched. So how the heck are there members of the frost and flame alliance, members of the aetherblades, all of the bad guys from the alliances that Scarlett has created there, in the reactor causing the meltdown?

The story that has been delivered to me with this fractal is that those creatures/alliances existed for a year before we even realized they were in the world. Unfortunately, this just doesn’t fit.

Generally I’m pretty good at suspending disbelief, but I can’t buy into this one. Sorry. No.

I’m just upset that the only emote that works is /threaten.

Costume brawl skills would have been amazing too though…or make it like the watchknight one and let me fight as a krait!

I would LOVE it if I could fight as a Krait. Really disappointed that the tonic is account bound though. You would think that since the TP is such a great gold sink for A-Net they’d be a little more enthused about us using it instead of having so many things account bound.

~prepare for potential Wall O’ Text as I write to think~

Thank you for sharing this, Salome, and that’s not a generic “Gee, thanks” but one offered with real gratitude. Your comments are an obvious attempt to help us improve and that’s always a good thing. Let me share a couple of thoughts:

It’s not possible for a support agent to know the answer to every potential question about the game. It’s simple not possible. The game world is huge and the content offers millions of elements. No agent, not even a team of agents, can know every detail about GW2. So, if an agent cannot answer a question, and if his/her teammates also are unsure of how best to answer, and if it seems bug-like, getting a potential bug into the bug system is a good idea.

But because this wasn’t a bug, and other non-bugs may get the same bug answer. So what if the agent had said something like “This could be a bug, so report it this way (with the info s/he gave” but included, “This also could be something that your fellow players have run into but which we don’t have documented yet.” What if the agent suggested that you post on the Player-Helping-Player Sub-Forum, decidedly not to avoid answering the question, but simply because our millions of players know more than we do? And what if the agent also suggested that there might be information on that Gold Mine of Amazingness™: The Guild Wars 2 Wiki?

As a player, I would welcome that. “Hey, cool, resources that might help me!” But someone else may say, “No, you’re passing the buck, you should answer me explicitly and in detail!” Face it, we don’t have enough people to create a character, play to a certain level, and try to reproduce every potential situation a player may encounter.

So — anyone is welcome to share an opinion — Where CS simply doesn’t have an explicit answer to a gameplay question, how would you feel about being given additional potential resources in your ticket response?

Being completely honest and straight-forward here, and speaking as one who is the customer service manager at an international company… I would definitely consider this a brush off and a way that support was pushing their job back at the player. I would consider receiving a link to the wiki or to the forums as not helpful, and insulting to boot.

If a player reports something that is a known bug then support asking them to file a bug report is certainly reasonable. If a player reports something that isn’t a known bug is there a quick and easy method (such as these forums) that an agent could use to find an answer to the problem? Do you allow your agents access to the forums? The wiki? An inside database of issues and their resolutions? Instead of sending the link to the player would it be feasible for the agent to use it themselves?

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback i will make sure to do a summary and list actions on Monday.

I don’t want to derail the thread but i would also like to know how everyone would like the next topics to be chosen. Simply would you like to vote again or would you like us to pick the second topics on the respective lists?

Chris

My first preference would be for A-Net to choose the topic. If that can’t happen then going back for another vote would be best.

[Merged] Fractal level reset is equity wiped. Discuss.

in Fractured

Aye.8392

Hello all,

The Developers are reading these posts and we are gathering feedback. This is a reminder, as I’ve already had to edit one post. Please do not discuss exploits, discuss how players may have used exploits, and keep these topics clean. We do not want to have to shut down more threads because they dissolve into name-calling, rude comments, and other violations of the Forum Code of Conduct.

I’m glad to know that the devs are reading these threads. It would be a great boon if they would actually speak to the players about this issue and possibly explain a little bit why the levels being reduced to 30.

More 'solo' content

in Suggestions

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

I have absolutely no problem with instances that scale to the number of players in a group allowing 1 or 3 or 5 to go in with a reasonable chance of success. But I definitely don’t want instances to be created that force people to solo. I play this game with friends/family/guildies — it’s why I’ve chosen the MMO game-type to begin with.

Scaling would be the very best of both of our worlds. I understand that there are people who don’t want to be forced to team up or who want to play alone sometimes and team others. But instances are rather special and, from what I understand, demand a great deal of the developer’s time. I don’t want that to be focused on solo encounters.

I’m not a veteran fractal player but I agree with the OP, they should give them something; a title, item, gold. Taking something away without rewarding their efforts is a bit rough.

I agree with the OP too, and therefore disagree with this post. High-level Fractal players don’t need a title, item or gold; they need to have their level — which they have earned left the heck alone.

Fractal levels above 30 to be reset?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

I am not over 30 myself, but I can feel the pain of those who are. Leaderboards…honestly? Who except a bunch of braggers wanted to have that anyway?

As for the “But it’s going to be redesigned, so it has be be reset!” argument: Did people who completed their Dungeon Master title prior to AC changes and Aetherpath have it revoked? No? Why should it be different for Fractals then? Or will I lose my legendary when the new precursor system launches? I -really- hope not!

At NO point in a MMO people ever should lose their progress on anything except they used exploits to get there. Ever! Everything else is just a horrible decision. It makes one wonder if it’s actually worth working towards anything at all if there is always a lingering threat of it being taken away after the fact.

I’m also below level 30, but I don’t agree with removing progress. The people who have played to high levels deserve to keep those levels. The advent of leaderboards definitely shouldn’t take accomplishments away from players who have already earned them.

Instant 80!

in Suggestions

Aye.8392

After reading some Threads, i think would be a good Idea to implement instant 80 leveling scrolls for 300-400 gems in the gem store. This would perfectly work for me, i’m sure as hell don’t want to level another character and go through that boring level grind again. I would prefer instant level 80 alt. and just do end game with him.

Who else likes the idea?

I love the idea, but I doubt if they’ll implement it. Just craft to 80 and be done.

Perhaps I could ask the devs if they plan to get the Aetherblades dungeon back or if the monocle will be reintroduced?
Oh and by the way, it’s not 250g now – it’s 600g.

IF you’re going to sell it you should do it before the next LS release when the Aetherblade Retreat is added to fractals. If they reintroduce the monocle that will probably be the time it happens.

Secret Bosses: Too rare?

I rather expect it to be completely random to be honest. It’s kinda natural for humans to try find a pattern but I doubt there is one. My Norn ranger ending up fighting Zoija and Mr Sparks doesn’t correlate with anything in her personal story or race.

Were you in a team? Did a Asura open the instance? It’s possible that it is random and dumb luck, but every time I’ve seen one of Destiny’s Edge they have corresponded racially to the character opening the instance.

We are refusing to allow an Asura to open the doors

Gem shop skins too expensive.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

Compared to what we’ve been seeing with the only way to get special weapon skins being to buy BLTC keys this is much more financially reasonable. I would rather pay 600 gems and get to choose which weapon I want than 125 gems for a rare chance to get the skin. There are some who say the odds are 1 in 50 for a weapon ticket in the BLTC.

Maybe it’s all in what you compare to — you’re comparing what other games charge for a skin, while I’m comparing what players in GW2 have spent to get the skins in the past. But, personally I’m glad to see that we can buy these even at 600 gems.

Finally Weapon Skins We Can Buy!!!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

All I’m stressing is: if they bring new skins into the game then don’t hide behind the random chance of black lion ticket scraps. Give us a chance to earn or buy, but allow both chances. Some folks are willing to fork over the cash, others aren’t so willing. I think we should have both options.

But, you already can if you trade gold for gems. Granted that they are definitely expensive for the gold currency, but at least it isn’t just dumb luck chance. If you want one you can earn it and know what it will cost you, or you can open the wallet and buy it and know what it will cost you. For me this is WAY better than the BLTC junk.

I bought the staff. I like the skin, and even though I don’t have a female caster (the skin seems very feminine) it supports them doing business in a way that I prefer. I’ll find somewhere to use it

One major flaw with tower...

in The Nightmare Within

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

I kinda though the biggest flaw was there is no reason to keep doing the tower. I played about 4 hours and got all the achievements done already and I’m no great player. At first I died a good bit but nothing that felt too cheap other than the mobs CC. I just don’t see much reason for people to go back other than a rare chance at a gasmask skin that you get anyway for the meta. The meta is pretty easy, there’s no other skins to get, and its hard enough that its not a good farm.

This is actually something that I’ve been asking for over and over, so I’m very excited to see it. If I can play for a block of time on the weekend and get the meta chest that is awesome and it means they aren’t time-gating me away from the rewards by using the daily system.

You seem to have a lot more play time than I do. Good for you If this content is fun for you then play it some more! No sense in them dragging the achievements out and keeping you playing them for a week if you don’t really enjoy the content. If you DO really enjoy the content then by all means keep playing it! There are plenty of mobs to drop loot, lots of players to socialize with, lots of things besides the meta chest to keep you going. The wonderful thing now is that you have full choice of where/how to play without having to worry about the chest. You can just do what you enjoy

And now I will buy them

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

I will admit I feel a kitteneated, having bought some of the tools more than once so I could equip a couple characters, but!

That being said, it’s about kittening time that Arenanet started doing some changes like this! I am happy for the folks who are going to be able to take advantage of it. The players of GW2 deserve this sort of perk. Account bound stuff is cheap and gimmicky (looking at you, dyes).

Not going to herald this as a change of heart on Anets part. I suspect they did this because sales tapered off and now they need MOAR MONEY™

I’m not going to spring back and log into GW2 just yet, but I’ll certainly be paying attention again.

Gaile has suggested that if you have multiples of the same tool and write to support they may be willing to refund the extras that you’ve purchased.

For myself, I’ll keep the extras for the sake of convenience and not having to hand tools off, but for some this might be a very nice gesture from A-Net.

Guilds are useless ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aye.8392

Aye.8392

To me the guild missions were a total failure. I really didn’t want A-Net to create the guild events for me, I did fine with that task on my own. But providing some tools, much like the commander’s tag, but that only guild members could see, would have been much better in my opinion.

Not having guild alliances with their own chat channel is such a huge let-down. I enjoyed GvG and the guild halls in GW1, but inventive players can come up with their own answers to not having those. Not having alliance chat is debilitating, and there simply aren’t good workarounds that players can provide.

Also, not supporting cross-region play is horrid — I miss my friends from across the pond that I played GW1 with. And the whole nonsense of guild “branches” on other servers instead of being able to access the guild bank, guild missions, or guild bonuses from any server is just incomprehensible. It’s like… having discussion forums without a search option, or a trading post without being able to sort by armor types. Some things are basic and you should be able to count on them being there.

It is sad how little A-Net has offered to social communities since there are so many players that stick around because they enjoy their guilds even more than they enjoy the gameplay.
