A Meteorlogicus that stayed permanently night would be suitable.
Dusty Moon beat me to Deathwish, which I have on my necro. Looks awesome, although her tendency to stroke the staff is a bit odd. The Wayward Sceptre from the Hall of Monuments is a very good fit to Necros.
“Their excrement is something like mulch.”
So, since they’re a plant, are they eating plants to produce mulch? in which case, isn’t that a form of cannibalism? Also, if they excrete mulch, could they just sit in the poop and re-absorb the nutrients from the mulch?
I might be looking too deeply into this
Is eating a cow cannibalism?
Can you eat your own poop to reabsorb the nutrients?Think through what you just said. No, eating a cow is not cannibalism. Yes, you can eat your own poop, though it’ll be very nutrient-poor.
I don’t think you’re thinking deeply on this at all.
You might want to think about your plant and animal biology somewhat before speaking next time. Plants can absorb nutrients from the break down of mulch through their roots. An animal could sit in its own poop all day without getting any nutritional benefit, thought they’ll definitely have an aromatic “benefit”.
I think it would be more akin to mammal eating mammal. Thus, plant eating plant would not be cannibalism. So, we can eat cows, and Sylvari can eat dandelions, without treading into the cannibalism area. =)
Hmm, that’s a good point. I’ll “ruminate” on this for a while.
It’s basically a way to get you to buy BL keys instead of buying the skins directly. Players were given the opportunity to get the skins for a very long time. Sclerites dated from the other Southsun Cove event series from last year after all. It’s like any business. You don’t keep a stock of dated merchandise forever, you need to continually revamp your merchandise to keep people buying stuff.
Granted, this stuff is virtual but the concept holds the same

That should answer your question with regards to food.
However, Superior Sigil of Blood (also a life steal on crit) does scale with Power AND Healing power.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_Blood
You can only have 1 food active at a time so stacking does not happen. However, if you use both Sigil of blood and Omnomberry ghost, the two effects can trigger off the same critical hit but do not stack.
Basically, whenever you inflict a critical hit, the game does a calculation to determine whether your sigil or the food will proc. So in certain cases, you can have a hit proc both at the same time, or only proc one of them.
Hope that helps
You are correct. Laurel items are generally for higher level-max level characters.
As a word of advice, do not spend any of your laurels now, keep saving them up for later. Laurels are the cheapest way of getting ascended amulets, which cost 30. You can also buy accessories (earrings) with them but are much more expensive at 40 laurels + 50 globs of ectoplasm.
Stick with using blue and green equipment while you are leveling. Save up for the more expensive gear
See if you can get to some of the highest peaks in Timberline, and look north. The Shiverpeaks are a sight to behold

I don’t even..?
For some reason your name looks a lot like a person who challenged Hendo to a duel of wits and then cowardly backed out. Your name is strikingly similar.
I’d certainly go for a duel of wits, with which whit’s wit would we weave wonderful wittiness
Now I’m thinking fist weapons… like one could be just a hand full of huge rings. They need it introduce fist weapons.
Erm. Yeah!
Why warriors aren’t allowed to just drop weapons and go fisticuffs is beyond me. Surely you could do some serious damage with those heavy gauntlets.
I mean I can totally see a Gypsy Danger style attack with dem CoF gauntlets
There is food available that reduces condition duration (and hence, ultimately damage)by up to 40%. Check the wiki for options!
That would be the lemongrass poultry food. It’s pretty much the meta food in wvw at the moment, coupled with Superior runes of melandru you get a -65% duration to conditions, which can be enhanced by traiting against certain conditions.
Ahhh .. now i know why i can make so good money with farming lemongrass
Almost all comms in high tier wvw will drop lemongrass poultry feasts. Tier 1 wvwers probably siphon it up like a sponge does water
Heavy armor.
Phalanx coat, leggings, and gloves. Human cultural T3 shoulders and boots.
Edit: beaten by Azrael. Darn!
Winning. booyah
Shoulders are tier 3 human cultural, so are the boots
Gloves, Chest and leg armour is Phalanx from the gem store
There’s a weapon you can buy in Metrica province where you summon a one use golem that flies along the ground and explodes on the target. I want to see how many of those it takes to do a dungeon
better yet, LET ME PUT A RING ON EVERY FINGER I want my bling bling
I don’t even..?
I want that Shatterer statue.
In our guild, we have a mother who has a very young baby, literally only several months old. She sometimes has to tend to the little fella for a while and I throw my gauntlet at anyone who would not give her the time to do so. If someone has a reason to ask for a few minutes here or there, then it would be discourteous not to do so.
If you’re too leet to wait a couple of minutes for people, then you’re not welcome in any group I host. People should understand that RL >>>>>>>> GW2.
(edited by Azrael.4960)
even if this idea didn’t take off, I’d settle for being able to salvage them
reading = harder than any dungeon for some people.
what I normally do to “fight” against ppl that don’t read is that I write a lot of giberish at the start so in the LFG you can only see something like this: OMGWTFTROLLLEETIDGASWIASI. After that I write the real message. Normally ppl will read what’s inside and if they don’t I do another thing too, I write ""something"@join" so if they don’t say that “something” its a kick in 10 sec for not reading.
Sir/Ma’am, I demand that you TAKE MY INTERNETS!
aetherblades in the TA Aether path should drop it (not certain since I’ve not done that dungeon much), also any aethers in fractals will have a chance to drop them, think I’ve collected another 100 by now from those. I’ve got about 700 of the things now, spent a lot on the wings.
Did a COE 3 path run with guildies the other night. Took a relative newbie in the guild through it. Was quite funny and frustrating at the same time watching him dance around the AOEs. Since he hadn’t really done it before, we decided it would be good to show him the pain that can come with being unskilled and not stacking.
So we did all three paths without stacking and each time it ended up being me (with my warr), another guildie (power DS necro) and a third guildie (another warr) smashing up Alpha while our guild leader (guard) was trying his hardest to keep the newbie (healing ele, yeh I know he’s a newb and wanted to try out a healing ele much like a GW1 monk) up and around.
Even just for laughs we aggroed the champ abomination after the laser phase to see how long it took us to kill him. Only took 2 wipes since we managed to pull him to the WP and we could basically respawn instantly on top of him.

Bah, wish I knew about this the other day. My guildie and I were hunting around for something like this but gave up. I’ll have to get my cooking up.
A word of warning, Melandru runes are VERY expensive atm. I sold one for 13g not long ago.
Focus on power as a primary stat with precision as the minor, when it becomes available. Precision is the stat that gives you critical chance. Reason being that at low levels, you need few points, relative to lvl80, to get very high critical chance. As Carpboy said, traiting Deep Strikes, which is in the Arms line, will gain you massive amounts of critical chance because it is a fixed stat gain. 40 points per unused signet. So at lvl20-39, you gain 1% of crit chance for every 3 points of precision. That means 1 signet will gain you 13% of critical chance. As you gain higher levels, the effect of Deep Strikes drops because the number of stat points require to gain 1% of critical chance increases and maxes out at 21 points of precision for each 1% of critical chance.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Precision
Check out this wiki to see how the maths works for critical chance.
The items you should be aiming for are green (masterwork) items with the Mighty prefix. Such as Mighty Iron Greatsword or Mighty Bronze Greatsword. You can also craft these with a weaponsmith and is a great way to add extra character experience.
Personally, I recommend carrying a few different weapons at all times. Standard equipment that you can swap to in combat should be greatsword with longbow. This will give you enough flexibility to deal with most situations. In your pack, I suggest keeping a rifle as well. Longbow has great area of effect (AOE) damage but is very poor against single targets. Rifles have excellent single target damage but no AOE. However the number 5 skill on rifles, Rifle Butt, does cleave which means you can hit more than 1 enemy at a time. However, this means the enemies are in your face.
An alternative to Greatsword is Axe/axe or Axe/mace. Axe and Greatsword benefit from a lot of traits in the Strength and Arms trait lines. Axe also has traits in the Discipline line.

Yes, it will replace that infusion though. Replacing infusions is exactly the same as replacing runes and sigils.
Actually, there are +5 bonus infusions which come with AR but they require a staggering amount of materials that make them not worth your while to make. If anything, just get the versatile simple infusions and leave it at that. The stat bonuses are so small as to be meaningless.
I actually threw mine out. Got it in the achievement and since it’s unlocked in my wardrobe, I don’t need to keep one. Doesn’t suit any of my chars anyway
The thing about GW1’s trading system , if I am remembering correctly, was that the trade window only showed trades that were available in the town or outpost that you happened to be in a the time. i.e. You were only tapping into a very tiny proportion of the available market at any one time. The BLTC taps into the whole game population.
Admittedly, I quite like the GW1 style as it gave one a much more adventurer style feel. You went out and found a rare item that you really can’t use or doesn’t have the stats you want. However, there may be someone who wants it in town so you go to trade. It had the medieval feel that GW1 seemed to embody.
GW2 has a much more global trading system. It’s more like listing stuff on a commodities or stock exchange. It’s less personal but it does mean the GW universe has evolved from the past.
It’s Evon, he’s always up to something. I voted for him too!
I very rarely kick people from pugs. Only had to do it a couple of times for afk’ers and one spectacularly foolish player that had no idea what fractals was all about.
“lvl 49” in LFG
player joins and we roll harpies
player gets blasted off every platform possible
Boss fight, player gets one shot 5 times by asura and we wipe three times trying to save him
I check his AP and he’s at 1.5k. Normally that wouldn’t be an issue but this is fractals 49 and going down like that so regularly led my guildie to ask him how much AR did he have. Response? “What’s that?” Linked him an ascended item. Response? “Wow, I’d be lucky to have those” Gave him a quick run down of what AR was and what ascended items were, then booted him.
AP isn’t a gauge in determining skill, but it can be a good determination of familiarity with aspects of the game. Some times, like in most dungeons, inexperienced players can be carried, and I don’t mind doing so. But in high level fractals, everyone really needs to pull their weight
Add me in game. My guild leader created a non-repping guild solely to have a list of people who like doing fractals. We don’t care about speed runs or necessarily doing things the most optimal way, but holy hell do we have a lot of fun. Most of us are on most nights and usually do 49 at least once and maybe one or two from the other brackets. If not we’ll do dungeons or a few other things.
Sometimes we’ll do really random things like all transform into quaggans and do a tour of a map and proselytise amongst the non quaggans
…other than misusing the word “illogical”, in a rather ironic way (thus creating endless yet annoying entertainment…..thus my theory he just might be trolling this along in a masterful way).
“ILLOGICAL. This is completely false and incorrect, for reasons I’ve already explained.”
Hmmm. This might be my new signature. It has a certain flair and charm to it.
Maybe if we use this enough, it will become a new meme. When the OP used it, I ground my teeth and face desked, but now it brings a smile.
But then, that’s ILLOGICAL for reasons I’ve already explained.
So basically, Anet has to reset the spawn of the queen because you’re too lazy to get the other waypoints, when you get to the map early.
Yup, gotta love that sense of entitlement.
Now I will say specifically the OP mentioned that how much can one player and their single party contribute. For example at Teq we divide ourselves into two defense squads for the two turret ends. Each squad only consists of a single party and we do it quite well. You’d be surprised how much a single player can contribute in a world boss fight.
This is especially felt in wurms attempts. Being short a condition party member puts a big burden on the remaining four given how spread out the party has to be to manage husks on Cobalt. On Crimson and Amber it’s not so bad since the battlefield is more contained but you can definitely feel the difference on Cobalt.
I feel like so many players measure AP as a skill base. While yes it can determine how long someone has played for, it doesn’t measure how skilled you are. And while yes there is nothing in game to measure skill at first sight, capping LFG groups at “LFG Zerk Only 7,000+ AP Ping Gear or kick!” Is annoying at the least.
Last night In fractals I had a 21.000 ap guy repeatedly die at various parts more so than everyone else around 3-5k.
However I do agree if someone’s joining my group at high level fractals and has 500 ap I’m gonna kick them. I feel it should be loosely based on something like that to avoid wasting time.
The way to get around that is to remove one’s feet from one’s mouth.
There’s a couple of mid 30’ers in my guild, including myself. One of our older members is in his late 40’s, ooh and the troubles he gets in with his wife ha!
I believe that are in fact able to salvage blue and green karma items for scraps. Unless of course, they’ve changed this recently
Incorrect. Haven’t been able to salvage anything karma-related, regardless of rarity. Wish I could give a date on the change (a few months after launch, if I recall), but the wiki seems to be down.
Strange, one of my guildies has been buying low level armours from a karma vendor…or might be a heart vendor to get his hands on linen for cheap.
When the molten dungeon came out during the event, the dredge and charr bosses were beast. On our first run, I went with 4 guildies and the whole lot of them went down. Ended up having to solo the berserker so the party could get back up. The TS was absolutely alive with chatter and terrified screams. Of course, now that they’re fractal bosses, they’re a walk in the part \O.o/
Shaman is pretty easy as long as you have a guard. Although I have done it without a guard, it’s generally less chaotic with a guard.
Champion cave troll in AC is now pretty tough with all the CC’s that come with him. Fears, dazes, stuns quite a challenge.
Oh, also try Kol Skullsmasher solo for some fun. he’s a Giant boss in a cave that deaggros when you try to pull him out. He’s in a cave in Harathi hinterlands. Fighting a giant in a closed environment is GREAT fun.
RNG loves some and hates others.
So far, I’ve had 4 fractal skins (Sceptre, focus, bow and harpoon), 1 ascended weapon drop (apothecary stats but oh well), 6 ascended armour drops (3 malice, 1 healing, 1 defender, 1 raider) and 1 precursor (Leaf of Kudzu). That’s after about 600 fractals or so
I use an all Rabid kitted necro for triple wurm in the condi team. It’s pretty boss when you’re fighting husks. Even when scaled down, my condi damage is almost 1k with buffs.
I believe that are in fact able to salvage blue and green karma items for scraps. Unless of course, they’ve changed this recently
The game has far more useless sigils, than just only those creature damage boost ones.
ANet should remove all those creature damage boost sigils and rework them into a Talent System, where those damage boostst become just passive Bonus Effects that increase so more creatures of a specific species you kill, until that boost effect reaches its maximun.
Or it could work similar to Magic find, that killed creatures could drop "Essences of “Creatures Soul” and if you use them, let your points raise, until you collected enouch to raise your Damage Boost towards that species by +1%Just that the cap is here alot lower and that the chance to get these essences are alot smaller and can#t be received through just salvaging stuff.
The Feature pack was nothing other than just making some tweaks here n there, but nothing about significantly improving the sigil and rune system and also adding nothing new…
Theres alot of stuff, thats basically missing for runes/sigils.
Alot of unused potential is here in those 2 systems.
Hmm perhaps tying in +X%dmg vs Y to the slayer achievement much as was done on GW1 where you got boosts related to a title track which reflected which area you fought in. And rather than being a blanket boost, it would only be selectable. So prior to jumping into combat with Krait, for example, you would select the sigil of serpent slaying on your hero screen. This way, you won’t get a blanket advantage in all areas of the game. I did think about the ability to select more than one since one can have 2 in a two handed weapon or 1 in each one handed weapon, but really who would use 2 at the same time anyway.
Each slayer tracks require 1000 kills to reach the full achievement, that ties in nicely with the +X% of a sigil. So that every 100 kills grants 1% account wide damage boost against a given creature type. I would also consider that this boost won’t kick in till lvl 20, or maybe even 30 to match with the traits kick in.
If you can manage to grind out the 1000 giant kills, when there are only 3 giants in the game that go towards the title, then you’d surely be worth granting the equivalent of a superior sigil of force, although I could see that lending to power creep.
I reckon this would work quite well with the progression of a character anyway. Most players don’t go out of their way to grind to slayer achievement as it naturally progresses as part of the game and it would be nice to tie achievements to a useable ability in-game. However, I can understand the nature of power creep that this creates…
If you’re new, a warrior is very good for getting to grips with the game mechanics and such. In terms of survivability vs dmg output, warrior is probably, if not THE, best. Because of the generalist nature of the class it never really feels like it excels at any one particular thing but with the right gear you’re looking at exceptionally good performance in all spheres. Even full damage spec, zerker, warriors have much better survivability than you would expect. Other zerker builds, except necromancer because of their access to certain skills, tend to be extremely fragile.
However, I will give the OP that he made me chuckle at “all smoke and no roast”
Hell, I’ve got 5k hrs on my account and what I’d like to see is as many shinies as there is content.
They’re correct. That achievement was part of the Boss Week achievements for fighting Teq. It’s now part of Historical achievements which cannot be completed anymore.
As a lot of others here have said, high AP is meaningless. I’ve played high level fractals with high AP players who have failed miserably. One of my guildies only has 3k and she outplays most pugs that I’ve gone with who have 5k or even 10k more. Pre fractals patch, when the levels were capped at 50, she’s come and done 51+ with us. In the guild I’m in, I have one of the higher AP counts at almost 9.5k. Whoop di doo. Another guildie is approaching 10k and he is terrified of the idea of going into high level fractals but he’s pretty good at regular dungeons and wvw.
AP’s mean little. Knowing the strength of your character(s) in whatever you play in is all.
I think we’re getting to the point that this discussion is going nowhere. The OP doesn’t seem to get that his points are nonsensical and when it’s refuted he changes his argument. Before this gets anymore circular, can a moderator please close this?
How to casual:
Buy endless quaggan tonic, bug a flamethrower, go to Tequatl, coo at him while burning him to death
Explosion Mistlock was epic on dredge fractal.
Also, on cliffside when people stack inside the doorway for the two seals on the arm.
The random lightning strike, lvl 35, is a pain as well. If you’re paying attention you can dodge it, but in a fight you’re likely to have no dodges at the right time and that can drop you right there.
Randomly appearing Mossman, lvl 31, is a bit of fun though. Middle of a fight, POW! axe comes out of nowhere. Anti-elitism, lvl 47, can be hilarious. “Warbanner coming!” BANG party members ressed, you die.
Losing control, lvl 36, can make lava fractal VERY hard in the fight where you have to stop the veteran grawl going after the humans. Similarly, Impaired Immunity, Lvl 32, can make the Lava Shaman fight incredibly difficult when the lava elementals spawn if you don’t have a lot of cleanses.
I reckon that social awkwardness, lvl 46, should be “Nearby allies reduce your damage”. Now that would make stacking useless. ha!
