I went for the Vigil Honor’s rifle, but holding out for a Fractal Rifle

But seriously. All this open field running around really detracts from the whole wvw experience. You end up spending 90% of your time running to and fro or waiting.
PPT also needs an overhaul. As it stands, as long as you hold the structure when the tick happens you get points. This discourages take and hold but encourages speedy zerging. It also makes upgrading defenses largely a waste of time as there is no difference in points between a t3 and a t1.
Change PPT so that a t3 is worth more than a t1. So, as an example, with existing maps Stonemist is worth only 10 to begin with but rises to 30 for a T3. This should encourage take and hold tactics rather than constant zerging.
oh as an extra comment, always report for verbal abuse, always. I popped into the old LA and the first thing that appeared was some racist diatribe. Waited for a bit, and after a few more posts popped a verbal abuse report. Mentioned it in map chat and quite a large of number of players responded with “me too” “same here”. Later heard the abuser had gotten banned.
Do what my guild mate did, disable map and say chat.
If it procs off condition damage then armour will not reduce that damage. So a high condition damage spec’d guard will do quite a lot of damage, relatively speaking, to a glassy thief.
www.dulfy.net is probably one of the best resources for any level of player. In fact, Anet named a character after her, you’ll find Siegemaster Dulfy defending a gate in Urban Fractal.
As for your armour, it looks like you’re still using the blue or green (fine and masterwork) level armours. Run some dungeons to get tokens so you can start moving towards rare and exotic armours.
Hmmm that I don’t know. I tend to avoid zerging content, except in wvw and even then don’t play that much either.
Pull gravelings onto Detha. She can out heal oozes even the elites. Doesn’t always work but works enough times that I haven’t had to restart that path much.
The other way of doing it is opening task manager and causing GW2 to “crash”. Even as the opener, if you do this the game holds the instance open so you can go repair and come back. Still working as intended
Oh! I do that to my imaginary friends. ._.
Poor guy. Group hug! [[[[[]]]]]
My imaginary gold fish is looking at you with malicious eyes. I’d be careful. He carries a harpoon gun for some reason.
…?
It’s what happens when quaggans get angry and go all piranha, but then get all their limbs amputated and are still able to hold their weapons.
did a 49 last night with a pug group that slapped him down good. Though the engi was spamming nades like no tomorrow and between him and the ele they littered my monitor with so many particles I’m glad I don’t have epilepsy.
Axe toss when you’re in melee can be a pain. There’s basically a lot of praying when you go in that you have aegis or packing a block. Off hand sword for warrs is great for that since it doesn’t end on a ranged block so if the axe comes back it blocks again and if he melees you after that you get a nice hit in. Somewhat OP.
The wolves can be a pain, but having a non-vet wolf in their as a rally bot is a life saver.
Had an absolute nightmare of a fractals run over the weekend. Went in with a guild mate to do an easy lvl 19 fractal with pugs for the daily before reset. Most of the time it was doing ok until Mai Trin.
My guild mate and I were the only two who went in to stack her. The thief? Pistols. The Necro? staff camped. The other warrior? Rifle. Someone save me
I should rephrase that as
“Those explorer achievements are NOT all related to the POI’s”
Oh, also forgot that the Boss Blitz is running and virtually every mob there is a veteran as well. Even when the events aren’t running the veterans are still there and count towards the event achievements. Hook up with a guild that’s running the gold blitz and you will very likely get the veteran killer achievement in one go
It’s regional Australia, so it’ll probably be higher latency than Sydney. But being a major mining town, who knows? Maybe decent infrastructure has been put in place. Best shot would be to look for what ISP’s are available there. If you’re stuck with only Telstra then you can probably expect some fairly high latency
my warrior because he’s got all the fractals gear. Though depending on what I do, I alternate to my necro for triple wurms and wvw.
Not sure if sarcasm. If you’re sceptical you can feel free to do 15 minutes of research on the costs of running servers.
If you’re in denial about the costs because you believe the myth “monthly fees are needed for MMO’s to pay server costs” then I only feel sorry for you, since you followed forum fiction rather than fact.
If you’re renting servers then sure, your own running costs are minimal, but if you’re hosting your own then that’s a whole new ball game. At which point, rather than looking at server running costs, you should look up facilities running costs.
But then, not sure if we’re getting trolled here
So, weapons with effects applied to AC weapons are more intense? This only at night?
Haha, now if I could just get the normal AC weapons to lose their blue glow permanently I’d be set..
No, it’s more a bug where the effects of both the AC weapon and weapon skin applied to the AC weapon somehow stack together to produce a more amplified glow. However, this only works in night time areas where the AC effect kicks in. Otherwise it looks more or less the same
Actually, the only extra area that has been added, Southsun Cove, doesn’t contribute to world exploration.
Devs don’t seem to pay a huge amount of attention to the general discussion forum (though would love to be proved wrong) You might try going to the dev tracker forum, finding a name and sending a direct PM to one of them.
Should also mention that dungeon mobs count towards the monthly. So if you’re going to grind through the champs, may as well get some gold for doing dungeons while you’re at it.
So do Fractals, for instance, the ice fractal is loaded with veterans. If you aim to go and kill them all (recommend this only on the lower level ones since the higher level veterans are lvl 81+ and will wipe the floor with your party). All of the other fractals are heavily populated with veterans as well. The urban fractal basically has a buffet of veteran Ascalonians in the main field all fighting veteran charr. So if you roll that, there’s a good 30-40 veterans just on the field, just run to a mob and tag them all. When you go into the city itself, there’s at least another 30 or so in there.
Orr is a pretty good place for veterans and champs because there’s often an event zerg running around. Certain events will scale up to spawn champs if the right number of players are present, so you can kill 2 birds with one stone.
PvE aside, a good place for events is wvw. Literally every attack on a tower/camp/keep is an event and every tower/camp/keep has veterans and champions. Naturally, plenty of zerging going on there.
Not to mention now that the crafting stations in LA have their own BLTC reps most people just hang out there again. Divinity’s reach also has very convenient placings of crafting stations with respect to the TC although it involves a WP. The TC is literally just above the crafting stations. Even Rata Sum has good placement since the TC is just round the corner.
Those explorer achievements are related to the POI’s. You may remember that when you run into a new region a message pops up with “such and such discovered” and you got some XP, but no POI’s were shown. This is what that explorer title relates to. There are some regions inside caves which have no POI’s but are counted as zones. Check the wiki maps. You’ll see that each map is sectioned off and have names. If you compare those names to your revealed world map you should notice some areas that are still hidden under fog. Just go check for cave or underwater entrances in those areas
Strangely enough, I logged back into my GW1 account to check my chars. A couple of them are 8 years old and got the new birthday exchange token. Picked up a mini Gwen out of that. Was got chuffed
Hmm, a lot of the weapon skins were available at one time or another. Limiting them to the black lion chest now encourages 2 things. Key farming through the creation, leveling to 10, deletion of characters or purchases. Naturally Anet would prefer it if players bought keys but key farming is not against the TOS as players still have to invest time into the process.
Certainly some skins should be brought back. For example, the Molten boss fractal should have a chance at dropping fused skins. Makes sense as that was where they were introduced.
It’s been spoken about before. I for one would love to have the option to upgrade the home instance. As it is, despite having node upgrades, I never visit it.
or just wait for it to expire? I mean, most speed buffs don’t last much longer than 25seconds, unless you’re in WVW
Seen this guy, or girl, or someone associated with them on Plains of Ashford and various other places around Ascalon.
Always get the heebie jeebies when I see it
going for my 3rd and 4th runs
I read a very interesting article about goals and processes.
If you set yourself a goal, once you reach that goal you end up at a loss. Setting yourself a process gives you more freedom to do different stuff while you move towards a goal but the process itself is more important than the goal

bah, COMPANION CUBE MINI!
I would like a mount specific for the race of the character who has a birthday. …
At this moment, the image of Batman slapping Robin comes to mind, with him saying STAHP WITH THE MOUNTS.
You’re welcome
EDIT: A solution to the duplicated minis, is make it able to be used in the Mystic Forge, I would be fine with that.
TAKE MY INTERNETS!
Ascended infusions like that would be OP. Going with ExTribble’s numbers,
Let’s just take ascended zerk as an example.
Let’s assume a warrior fully decked out in full ascended zerk gear and running scholar runes armed with an unsigiled great sword.
Looking at damage stats.
Power: 2478
Precision: 1961 → 54% crit chance
critical damage: 213%
Running those ascended infusions that you suggested gives +6% to power, +4.3% to crit chance and +6% crit damage.
Gw2 was marketed on horizontal progression and that has kept things across the board rather stable. Someone fully decked out in ascended gear gained 5% or so in stat improvements over exotic. If Anet brings in ascended jewelry like you’re suggesting, then ascended becomes about 8% better than exotic. Definitely not the way the game should be going.
You could play this game for 100 years and never get 100 red rings of death. Don’t model pre-cursor crafting on randomization that is that extreme (mystic clovers are already random enough).
That’s what the pristine fractal relics are for. That’ll be an easy 1100 relics. I guess you forgot that rings could be obtained through relics and wvw badges
I would like a mount specific for the race of the character who has a birthday.
It will be a cosmetic mount with no speed advantage and this could set up a trend of getting mounts only through the birthdays like in GW1 the minis were obtained only in that way (not counting the trading)
The mounts would be an unique birthday gift which cant be purchased through other means
At this moment, the image of Batman slapping Robin comes to mind, with him saying STAHP WITH THE MOUNTS.
Slayed the wurm just yesterday in fact. Had about 140 or so people, 6 commanders who knew what they were doing and 134 people who followed their guidance. That’s all it really takes.
This actually has merit but needs a few tweaks.
Here are a few of my thoughts
1. Once deployed, siege has a 24 hr timer.
2. if the siege is unattended for more than 30min, it reverts to a “grey” state, i.e neutral and belonging to neither side.
3. If the siege is in a grey state, a player has to “capture” the siege, which is a 2.5s process. This applies to all players except the owner of the siege who will instantly regain control of it when they interact with it.
4. The siege gains a new utility skill. “Spike siege” which is a 1s skill on slot 6 that instantly despawns the siege to deny it to the enemy.
5. If the enemy captures the tower/keep/garrison before the defenders can destroy the siege, then all the siege inside comes under their control. I’ve always felt that capturing a keep/garrison/tower which has been heavily fitted with defenses and after a great deal of fighting, capturing a post full of defenses would be a good bonus reward.
6. With the exception of trebuchets, all siege can be movable but a player would be moving at the same speed as if they had a full pack. It’s never made sense as to why siege can’t be moved. I mean, they have wheels for crying out loud.
Extra idea
Idea 1. Alpha and Omega Golems can be repaired using supply
Idea 2. Damaged Golems left in a designated zone near the supply dumps will be repaired by workers if the worker upgrade has been purchased. This costs supply.
To offset these added features,
1. the cost of siege needs to go up.
2. The number of siege that can be deployed on a map should be limited to minimise spam.
ideas, ideas, ideas..
5. Just for novelty’s sake, a special effect when a character opens their birthday gift in town. Like a huge fireworks display or something. You want this to be more communal? nothing more communal than being wished a happy birthday.Maybe have those fireworks form a number 2, so everyone knows how old you are. (Should make this work on ‘new’ 1 year old presents to, only it would say ‘1’ instead of ‘2’ obviously).
Yes, I’m insane.
A special birthday banquet and resultant food fight!
There’s a series of armour skins that become more and more ornate as you reach 80.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heavy_Armor
Here is a list and gallery of all the available armours.
Every armour set is available in the given set of stats. So a Mighty Worn Chain Armor set will look exactly the same as a Rejuvenating Worn chain armor set. As you go to higher level areas, the armour skins that drop will change.
There’s also a set of armor skins that are only available as crafted armour, whether it be in Fine, Masterwork, Rare or Exotic rarities.
Then there are the Karma only armours, WvW armours, Order (Vigil, Order of Whispers or Durmand Priory) specific armours, which are bought for 8gold 88silver 88 copper. Each character can only buy from one set of the orders since your personal story forces you to select one order to join. As a reward you gain access to those armour and weapon skins.
ideas, ideas, ideas..
1. How about a little something that is permanent in your home instance? A new node (not more ore nodes) maybe something like an apple tree (saves on karma) or some other account bound food ingredient. A herb garden?
2. Special set of permanent finishers.
3. Soulbound Total makeover kit. I include this because it makes sense that as your character progresses, s/he ages and it’d be kinda interesting to be able to “age” your character over time
4. Definitely a new set of minis. Having 1 Queen Jenna is ok, anything more than that is silly.
5. Just for novelty’s sake, a special effect when a character opens their birthday gift in town. Like a huge fireworks display or something. You want this to be more communal? nothing more communal than being wished a happy birthday.
6. A random weapon skin box that gifts a skin from the Black Lion merchant, account bound of course.
How about make them part of a precursor recipe
For example
100 Red rings of death (non infused) + 50 Vision crystals + 100 deldrimor steel ingots + 1 gift of exploration => Zap
or something else suitably silly. I kind of like the idea of using a gift of exploration though. I mean, getting 2 for 100% should mean that 1 can go into making the precursor while the other goes into the legendary.
Welcome to play balancing.
Play the way you want and how you want, within the environment you are given. The whole point of the crit damage to ferocity conversion (nerf) was to correct how CD scaled hideously out of proportion to everything else. A flat buff to your critical hits when everything else went through an equation? yeh that’s balanced isn’t it…
Those who have a limited facet of play styles will always be the ones hit hardest while those who play some of everything pretty much didn’t feel it. I’m afraid you are going to get little sympathy from most people simply because you have chosen to limit your playing field to pvp.
A final point, you seem to have forgotten that you can get armour from wvw with badges. At least there it’s not as pricey. Not going to say anything about runes since that market is just getting crazy
The AC weapons bug was patched recently IIRC.
Legendary weapon effects were revamped towards the start of this year with bigger foot falls and more pronounced effects. Bolt was given more lightning arcs I believe. It still looks weird on my asura, but awesome on my Sylvari. Too bad the skin is so bulky looking.

It’s been bandied about a lot, but GW2 AI is significantly more stupid than GW1 largely as a result of the reduction in focus on the class roles.
For those who never played, mobs in GW1 were usually of mixed classes meaning that invariably there would be counters to whatever your class would bring. The other thing was that mobs in GW1 moved together. Aggro one and the whole mob would attack. Certain mobs with long patrols would sometimes split and you could aggro some but not all of the members to make the fight easier. As mentioned before GW1 mob AI also included an anti-AOE code which precluded them from staying in the one place particularly for DoTAOE. Burst and single shot AOE’s were still effective however. The other thing about aggro mechanics was that you really had to try to get a mob to focus on the tank. If your party is too close to you, mobs had target prioritisation that meant spellcasters would target spell casters preferentially while 1 or 2 melee (depending on the size of the mob) would target your melee while other melee and ranged would target your spellcasters as well.
These are the sort of mechanics that are missing in this game because of the need to make it an open world. Anet didn’t build in class blends. It gave the world a bit more realism but lost in party gameplay because everything can be encountered singly and dealt with easily.
Try the 250,000 player kills in wvw. Only a handful of people have achieved that
Azrael, I personally refuse to do harpy fractal with pugs so that isn’t as much of an option for me. I get what you’re trying to do, but I’d rather beat my head against the wall than even attempt to. Minimizing my chance for that fractal is absolutely necessary. It’s just one of those things that I have absolutely no tolerance for without much of an explanation for it other than it genuinely ruins my mood and motivation to keep playing :P
Lately I actually find underwater ruins one kind of fun to duo. Jellyfish boss is boring, but it’s more interesting when you’re duoing it level 50
I actually really enjoy harpies. It’s one of those sorts of maps that you know you’ve got the party for it but there’s always that slight window of error that means a knock down and you go flying. I usually go with guildies, particularly our guild leader who is a very good guardian.
However, I will agree that pugging harpies is like the lottery, you either get a great group and blitz it or it turns into a nightmare.
well, wound up on a random server tonight for Tequatl. Been a while since the last run I did and somehow ended up with SFR commanders. Pulverised Tequatl with 7:30 on the clock. Most ppl weren’t even on TS. Since the update, I’ve not been able to do it on a weekday but would normally do it with Gandara commanders.
The 1 simple thing that makes tequatl easy is communication. I’ve been in runs where we’ve had masses of ppl on TS and failed but also had runs where the commanders just communicated through squad chat. The commanders can only do so much, it’s the players that show up who have to rise to the occasion. Hell, I’ve done it so many times now I could probably command a part of it and I only got a dorito last week.
I always loved how you’d be battling all these undead in epic battles where you’d be giving it your all just to stay on your feet and desperately trying to stay on top of the objective. When, finally, your HP down to its last pixel, your cooldowns ticking over, you’d slay the last of the monsters who almost killed you, the best hope for saving Tyria from the undead dragon and its horde. You’d be triumphant against the odds, your prowess the stuff of heroes.
And, unimpressed, bored Trahearne’s all like “Moving on.”
“This will not end well”
The reason as to why Trahearne is loathed by so many is written out at length by many players over in the Living World Discussion and Lore Discussion sub-forums. The short version was mentioned up above; we do all the work, he gets all the credit/glory/rewards/titles after having done nothing.
The players want their spotlight as the hero (we did the work of one), but all we got was barely a footnote as being “Random Person #2,319,575 that may or may not have done something to help Trahearne, the Real Hero, to save Tyria.” – Trahearne needs to cozy up to a wood chipper and not return to our story to steal our glory and trod all over our sense of accomplishment from our saving Tyria.
Here is a good image that goes around the forums that accurately displays what happened and how it affected the Players behind the Player Characters.
(contains spoiler for end of “personal story” with fighting Zhaitan – the spoiler is the “fight” itself as well as the presence of Trahearne…who spoils anything he makes himself apart of)
that needs to be printed on a t shirt, TAKE MY MONEY!
