If you got to the Citadel, he’s up the back near the big fire pit. However, one of them was removed in a recent update and his function rolled into the other, I forget which one, but it’s in the patch notes
What needs to be fixed? So you can’t burst down a necro/engi who just condi’d you to death? Seriously, outside of pvp, conditions are already messed up. If they’re nerfed in pvp/wvw then they’d be useful nowhere
Best kill ever for me.
Was in a borderland, forget which one and was running to cap Redvale. Ran across a thief and an ele. Thief ran up the wall and started attacking the camp, couple of team mates went to deal with him. Ele stood on top of the wall and I feared her down with my necro. Chased her out into the open and condition spammed on her. Got her down to about 1k HP and she mistformed and ran away towards the tunnel next to the nearby tower but took a detour through the gap. I started chasing but just as she passed through her mistform ran out and she aggro’d a nearby moa who pecked her down… ran over and stomped. Stayed there for 5 minutes waiting to catch my breath from all the laughing.
Best almost kill.
Early days of Obsidian Sanctum running with a warrior (when I was a total noob). Saw some eles. I fell off the walk way near the first fire trap maze before the well. Looked up and while they couldn’t see me Kill Shot the first ele, instagibbed. Second ele came to res, popped healing surge for a full adrenalin bar, FGJ, SoR and fired a second kill shot, just before animation landed popped On my mark. Instagibbed that one too. Started peppering them with shots but third ele arrived popped an invuln and ressed them =(
Best self kill ever.
Playing my ranger and took hills. I noticed a mes trying to hide under the bridge. and started peppering her with shots, got her down to about 1k and decided to drop down and point blank shot her off the cliff. Shot her a couple more times waiting for recharge then instead of hitting 4, I misclicked my stun breaker bind on my mouse and lightning reflexed my butt into the gorge.
Thieves can land, or at least used to be able to, 10k plus single hit crits with back stab.
Waaaaaat, 10k is super weak. The hell you playin’ with?
I bolded the relevant part in my post for you as it seems you missed it, also changed it to a word.
As people say, do what you like. They’re your characters. Some people love having many characters some only like playing just the one. I’ve got 5 maxxed characters and recently bought another slot to try a 6th. My first 5 are fully kitted in ascended/exotics with ascended/exotic trinkets only because I wanted to see what they performed like at max and to see if I really wanted to keep playing them. As it is, my main my warrior but I also have a necro, thief, ranger and guardian although I play my guardian very little.
It’s been enlightening how nolij only focuses on the posts that he thinks he has a chance of rebutting but any of the posts that actually seriously debunk his proposal with economic principles are basically flying over his headignored.
Edit: removing the ad hominem as unnecessary.
Well… if you can’t achieve it in real life… i guess this is also something.
But it was achieved in fantasy!
Or it’s the Tengu temporarily opening their doors but decided to say no to the Divinity’s Reach free steak knife set
How about champion risen eagles? Dem carpet bombs
OK, thanks for all the help! I’m afraid GW2 may not be for me. I’m pretty bad at dodging, historically.
I turned off the ‘auto-dodge’ got fed up of dodging with normal movement … if you do get downed, and even die, the good people around you will probably assist in healing you again.
I have, since the game launched, been able to, somewhat, dodge … but it has to be a very conscious effort on my part to do so. I usually just, RUN!
I was the same way when I first started. Then I mapped the dodge key to a thumb button on my mouse. Makes for significantly easier dodging. And now it’s just second nature to dodge.
I was going to suggest this as well, but was beaten to the punch. Most mice these days will have at least 2 buttons for thumb control. Unless you have a Razr mouse where you can your entire utility bar. Mine has 2 and I’ve mapped a dodge on one and the number 7 skill onto the other. On this button I’ve mapped a cleanse, so for a warr it’s “Shake it Off!” which has saved me so many times from knock backs, stuns and CC’s.
Haven’t been on WvW for a while, but was on briefly during the last week of tournament and managed to get in to EBG. We, Gandara, were up against FSP and GH, I think. Capped SMC and the comm decided to let them in again so we, about 50 or so, waited inside and I caught sight of the FSP blob streaming in while GH came through the other way. Thus ensued a fight that lasted well over half an hour as reinforcements streamed in and were trampled. Blobs swung around each other, up and down ramps, into and out of tunnels, regrouped and fell apart. It was utterly glorious.
Illumination is an option, so is Redemption, although the latter is more of a very rich yellow. However on very metallic armours, they come out as a very gold colour.
@Azrael .. I like these suggestions; I think they would add to the tactical nature of the game. However, what your suggestions don’t do is change the advantage that coverage overall gives a server. A high population WvW server would still dominate a match-up against a low pop server.
I’ve always wondered why the outmanned buff doesn’t add a ridiculous amount of extra damage output say +200 power/condition damage, and 5 points to score for stomps. That would encourage the low pop servers to develop (or attract) high skill tactics which may not prevent the high pop server ‘winning’ the PPT war but would at least give them (low pop server) high rewards for fighting and stomping.
I’m sure this has been suggested elsewhere..
High population servers will always have an advantage especially the international servers who have populations spanning NA, EU and Oceania. French servers have always benefited from having access to Canadian players. German servers have it the roughest as even Spanish speaking servers can count on Latin American nations. However, a daily points tick rather than an ongoing 10-15min tick will heavily offset the current imbalance caused by coverage. As EU resets are at 00:00 UTC, and American time is between UTC-5 and UTC-7, NA evening players on EU servers will be overlapped with Oceania morning players on UTC+7 through UTC+9. However, whatever grounds NA and Oceania players make during their hours of operation can be undone and offset by the larger numbers of EU players when they come online.
So in that sense I think that although high populations servers will still have an advantage in numbers, EU servers with non EU players can’t always count on coverage to give them the advantage.
ah yes, the elusive “one shotters” which nobody in the game can ever give reference to
But think of the children! (Never been one shot myself, but I thought I’d be considerate)
Stack to win. Just like Season 2.
Soccer may be one of the most boring sports in existence, but at least the teams have even numbers.
I’m not sure if you are trolling, because I agree with your first point. But soccer is boring????
Because I disagree with your opinion I’m a troll? Good one bro.
But I’ll explain my opinion.
From childrens leagues all the way up to adult leagues, even the World Cup, soccer requires one skill to play (foot skill) and one aspect of athleticism to play (cardio endurance). This is an undisputed fact. The elite level is a mastery of foot skill, and having astounding cardio endurance. This doesn’t appeal to me.
I prefer sports that utilize more than one skill, or sports that utilize more than one aspect of athleticism. And I especially love sports that combine both of these.
Soccer does not provide that for me.
Then there is the agonizingly low scoring, for me this is a yawn fest. I know some people like watching paint dry, but not me.
The action is also mostly slow paced, and I don’t find that exciting.
Then there is the rampant injury faking, and really pansy attitudes in general. For me, this is disgusting to watch. Also, other countries soccer players complain that “Australia is too rough”, lol!!!! How sad.
Some people grew up in a country where soccer is the only sport played there. For them, this is all they know, and that’s why they love it so much.
I grew up in Australia, playing and watching our national sport, which utilizes all areas of skill, and all areas of athleticism. Amongst playing and watching a wide variety of other sports.
The elite level of our national sport requires every player on the field to be an absolute master of hand, foot and body skills, as well as every single area of athleticism in order to be successful. No other sport in the world demands this much from every single player. There’s also no pansy attitudes, and a tonne of courage and bravery. And no padding.
That being said, it isn’t the only sport I like. I love watching tennis, all martial arts, American football, rugby, ice hockey, snow boarding, basketball, volleyball, and plenty others.
Cricket? I like 20-20, but find ‘one day matches’ and ‘test matches’ to be boring.
After watching and participating in many different sports, the simplicity of soccer does not appeal to me.
___________________TL;dr
I find soccer boring because I was born in Australia, the sport crazy nation.
As an Australian myself, I salute you and the mighty sport that is rugby (although I’m not much of a sports fan, still rugby > soccer).
This isn’t important to me but, footy = league, union or aussie rules? ;p
The biggest issue is that there is no benefit in taking and holding points, whether it be camps, towers or keeps. You get the same points regardless of how high a tier a location is.
Many aspects of WvW can be improved by removing PPT and switching it back to daily points. At daily reset, the scores tick over and the higher level a tower/camp/keep/garrison is, the more points you score. This makes taking and holding territory imperative. I’ve written up some ideas but placed them in their own sections as they’re very long
Disclaimer: all values in the following sections are plucked out of the air
For instance (these are points values for the sake of an idea)
Stonemist
T1 – 20
T2 – 50
T3 – 75
Garrisons/Keeps
T1 – 15
T2 – 30
T3 – 50 with a 5 pt bonus for having a waypoint, on EBG the world holding 2 keeps gets a 10 points bonus and a 20 point bonus for holding all 3.
Towers
T1 – 10
T2 – 15
T3 – 30
Camps
T1 – 5
T2 – 10
T3 – 20
By changing to a daily points tick rather than every 10-15min or whatever it is, night time coverage will have no meaning whatsoever. You can control the whole map at night but the points don’t count until the reset. It will mean EU/NA night time players from EU/NA/Oceania can contribute by fighting off other night time players and holding on to make sure upgrades are complete BUT! they won’t be able to take advantage of the fact that the vast majority of players on those servers will be sleeping. The actions of a few should not be so disproportionately rewarding for their server.
I also propose that for the larger points, like keeps, garrisons and SMC, the single point to capture the whole target be replaced with several points. For instance, to fully capture SMC requires the capping of all 3 supply camps in the inner keep. There’s a couple of reasons for this. One of the joys of fighting in SMC is the sheer number of players involved, however as everyone knows, lag makes it virtually unplayable. By requiring three points be capped it will force commanders to consider a coordinated assault rather than simply zerging one of them at a time because the defenders could deny your team by sitting and camping on 1 point. Even if you take your whole zerg to fight that zerg, all it would take would be a couple of roamers to cap the point your team just left.
As for keeps, I propose that the inner and outer supply depots become cap points as no matter how powerful a lord is, no keep can stand without supply. It will also give the defending side a chance to reorganise, regroup and assault the keep again.
Camps and towers would stay as they are now.
The existing rewards system encourages zerging because all a commander has to do is wait for the RI buff to end and bam another champ loot chest. My line of thought is that champ loot be replaced with a daily loot chest which is scaled depending on a player’s contribution to the war effort. This would be scaled based on a resetting daily contribution title track. The level of rewards will be tied directly to how much of that bar is filled somewhat like the rewards for triple wurm of tequatl where the more you achieve in those events, the more rewards chests you obtain.
Example
Points for capping
1 – Capping a T1 location
2 – Capping a T2 location
3 – Capping a T3 location
Points for defending
1 – Defending a T1 location
2 – Defending a T2 location
3 – Defending a T3 location
20 – 50pts = WvW Bronze chest
51 – 75pts = 1 WvW Silver chest and 2 WvW Bronze chests
76 – 100pts = 1 WvW Gold chest, 3 WvW silver chests and 5 Bronze chests
(I’m not saying anything about what’s in the chests as that would be too contentious)
Stack to win. Just like Season 2.
Soccer may be one of the most boring sports in existence, but at least the teams have even numbers.
I’m not sure if you are trolling, because I agree with your first point. But soccer is boring????
Yep, soccer is boring. Rugby is more interesting
Back on topic. A regional cup, though interesting in concept, might not work very well when you consider that you have residents of the Americas who play in EU, EU players in the Americas, Oceanic players in both. I’d say it ends up boiling down to coverage again. Nothing will work unless the whole PPT gets reworked, or better still replaced.
Actually, it’s 60 shards on your first run on each path per account. After your first run it’s 20 per path.
Well you are not supposed to facetank the mob it cleaves, this move is the automatic defense against high melee pressure. the goal is to control the amount of damage done and the way its dealt.
The key is to control how long, a group of player can maintain it’s highest dps output(melee dps), with a few cleave"auto attacks"(so here we a limiting the amount of time a boss spends recovering from it’s previous move) in between the key moves, first stacking will become a high risk/reward maneuver, fighting a boss will be naturally phased (offence/defense)and a lot of other changes in the way pugs will apprehend a boss.
So gameplay wise it’s much more interesting.Uh, an enrage of sorts?
Basically what do you propose then: at certain point of people meleeing the boss it flips tables and starts cleaving in a radius.
Two and a half choices here: it never stops that move till people kitten off which brings us back to what I posted before.
Or it cleaves for some time and stops. Man, that’s just a burst skill then. We have plenty of those already and they force people to take defensive measures. The only point that makes it different from, say, Frenzied Blast or Teeth of Primordus, is that you can’t counterplay high frequence melee attacks with aegis or reflection. And it only triggers at specific conditions promoting lazy gameplay.
And it can be at the middle ground between above, like, steady dps lasting long enough to waste people’s dodges and defence utility and a bit more which is solved by a mix of above solutions, maybe promoting water field usage in the encounter. Water fields are generally underused in PvE but massive spread of such a counterplay isn’t that great either.
Can’t reinvent the bycicle. A move that just tells you to get out with no counterplay isn’t fun. A move that has a counterplay already has that counterplay known and tried.
Simpler solution. Replace the boss with a party of legendary/champ mobs and Make sure they have a variety of abilities. HP should be commensurate with legendaries as opposed to uber bosses whose difficulty is all about high HP pool with hard hitting 1 shotters
My net cost was near zero as I only crafted when I had mats and always crafted the items that had the best sell prices on TC. In fact, I would go so far to say that all my crafting to ascended has been profitable.
Zerk stat gear will always bring back in gold. A full set of zerk stat weaponry/armour should net you between 30-50g depending on the state of the TC. This will always recoup the cost of buying the thermocatalytic reagents. Ori and Ancient wood are the biggest problems usually, but they now drop so regularly from salvage that this should mitigate it. If you’re consistent with crafting the capped items everyday, again this should be net zero when you compare it to how much silver you should be bringing from regular play.
Personally, I avoid buying mats off the TC unless I’m a small handful of components left. I did weaponsmith and armoursmith the same way. Finished up huntsman last week and working on leatherworker and artificer atm.
Spacing out crafting over the long run is very good for long term profitability.
Personal wealth in game is largely pointless. So you have 50k gold in your bank, what good is that? Usually, I don’t have much more than 120-150g in my bank because I’m using it up so much, whether it be for gems, crafting or runes and sigils.
If I need gold, I’ll make a few high value things and throw them on the TC. It’s knowing the market and being sensible in your expectations. I made an exotic in the forge that I wanted to TC. Ended up taking over a week and a half for it to sell because it was undercut many times. But because of its rarity it eventually sold. On the other hand I made an amulet with very rare materials and its on the TC for just under 40g, but it’s undercut down to 31g. Again, a very long term investment that may or may not pay off.
Just crafting those two items dropped my total wealth to 5s. I had to borrow gold off a guild mate just to list them. Sometimes, you just gotta go for broke and make a punt, but it has to be a calculated punt. I spent my last 50g crafting those two, but I got back 100g for the exotic and when the amulet sells another 40g.
Point scoring with personal wealth is meaningless. If it translated into real world wealth then sure, it might be useful, but it doesn’t, unless you’re a real world gold seller in which case I hope you rot in hell.
After spending many hours on pvp and pve, where I did everything possible and got bored very fast, I tried WvW.
It’s terrible.
You spend hours simply getting into action, and what action! You have a choice between destroying doors, those don’t don’t really fight back, or go roaming. Roaming is fun, until you encounter the enemy bus at which point your are dead and you have to walk for hours again just to get to play the game.
So PvE is almost non-existent, WvW is terrible, PvP is kind of decent … that’s it?
Depends. I PVE a lot and for the most part it’s like walking in the park, except you get to fight off wildlife. I’ve never been much into PVP
But WvW…
I go through bursts of activity on WvW then just burn out really quickly. When the tournament started I was hardcore-ing it for the first couple weeks but then just burned out and sat out the rest of the tournament. WvW as a concept is great but the way it’s turned out, well, lets just say that it could be vastly better
I’ve got quite a few duplicates as well. I didn’t make quite that many characters, I think 6 in all, but they’re all many years old so have quite a few minis.
Are you EU or NA? PM here or in game.
If seen ori nodes disappear if I’ve already mined one earlier on a character, leave, come back to a different map, find a node with another in view and mine it. I suspect he had already mined earlier but forgot.
Ori nodes are fixed in position as long as you are on a map, reset or not. Your presence on the map pins them in place. As long as one person is on the map their position is fixed. It’s only when the map empties out that the map will despawn and the position of the nodes will reset when someone else enters the map and respawns it.
That’s interesting, I’ve not stayed in one spot long enough to see that happen.
In a single shot, I’ve landed a 100k+ Kill Shot crit on the ice elemental in dredge fractal, but you can only get that because you drop the lava debuff on it.
With Impale (sword off hand throw attack), you can rip the sword out and that can crit for >7k in a single hit. That’s not counting the initial hit and the torment stacks.
Eviscerates can top 12k. Arcing slice could probably do about the same, but no one uses that because it’s a silly skill.
Thieves can land, or at least used to be able to, 10k+ single hit crits with back stab.
I won’t comment on eles since I don’t play them.
Or, if you’re really lucky you can land a Kill Shot on a rabbit, you can get 300k+ damage on those poor blighters.
Or, I dunno, make a YOLO only PUG? Wait, where have I heard that before?
Just out of curiosity AuTomA, how many points do you have?
Maybe u got this but, when talking to Kimmes in GW2 choose ‘Show me my legacy.’
NOT the other conversation option.Well, no he won’t. The options are for Guild Wars 1 to track progress either for your account or for your character. In Guild Wars 2 it’s only for your account, but they named it your Legacy. Not consistent, but whatever.
I was thinking the same thing. Even if you have the two games linked but no title tracks maxed out, then you won’t get a legacy
Astral, I think nolij meant that one disappeared while s/he was mining another as opposed to wanting to mine the same one on a different character.
It’s possible you may have been doing it near the reset as most nodes aren’t permanent. I know that some nodes continuously reset during any given day, but their locations can change at the daily reset. You may have just been unlucky enough to come across just such a one
Some players can be very discriminatory when selecting classes for dungeons, but for the most part you’ll generally find players are pretty open to any classes. I lean on the less discriminatory side of parties. I have kicked people in the past largely for being a pain in the butt or just generally abusive.
Some dungeon runners challenge themselves by seeing how fast they can do the runs for gold. I do it with mixed groups to challenge myself in working with all sorts of classes. Some days I want to blitz dungeons and other days I’m just looking for a laugh. Just the other night, I listed up a COE group with “NOT stacking, must be willing to YOLO all accepted”. At every fight we just charged in and hugged everything.
I’ve got a necro and warr, among other classes, but recently rolled a mesmer. Still undecided whether I’ll keep her. Necro I use largely in wvw and for triple wurms. There’s always a demand for condition users in wurms. As for wvw, mark and well bombing as well just general disruption is the hall mark of necros, excellent fun when you’ve kitted them out for survival.
fractal capacitor, guild back pack, temple karma vendors or for the more pricey ones, tempered spinal blades and various other mystic forge recipes
I don’t think the temple ones have beserker. Wiki says it’s Rabid, Cavalier, Soldier and Magi’s.
Indeed. For some reason my brain decided that listing all the back pieces was the answer to the question
give us the ability to buy more bank tabs. I am maxed out and still need more room.
Have you also bought the material expansions? Though that being said, I had a lot of dust as well, so I threw away a lot then just started converting them to bricks. I’m sure I’ll have a use for them at some point when anet comes up with something else to craft with them. Now, whenever I get a few hundred dust, empyreals or dragonite I just convert straight away. Will probably start crafting them to other things when my material storage is full
The only zerk hate seems to be on the forums.
fractal capacitor, guild back pack, temple karma vendors or for the more pricey ones, tempered spinal blades and various other mystic forge recipes
wvw zerging through towers and keeps. Plenty there
seriously, 11 pages of QQ. And people wonder why Anet staff hardly bother coming to the forums anymore
Go to Timberline Falls. It’s one of my favourite areas during exploration
i believe all armour except maybe the blues are soulbound. I’ve had enough badges to buy 2 full sets of armour from WVW, still have enough left to buy a 3rd. I find it a good way to kit out new characters at lvl 80.
unfortunately, there’s no going back after that. Luckily for you karma is easily gained so 10k karma (which really isn’t very much) isn’t exactly a massive mistake.
Post in the bugs forum
More whine from the entitled players that think they should have the best with little to no effort.
I’ve got about 5K hours into the game. I’ve made 4 legendary weapons, and had 8 or so drop from forging (a lot of items). I’ve never had a precursor drop from a mob, so I pursued them via the TP, and the forge.
If you’ve been playing this game for 4.5 K hours, and you can’t get it together enough to buy a precursor, you need to stop standing around lion’s arch all day long telling each other how nice your armour looks.
As for the “scavenger hunt”, or crafting a precursor, Anet gave us ascended weapons, that equal the stats of a legendary. That is good enough.
Want a legendary? Work for it. A legendary given out those that whine, and cry cheapen the effort of those that actually deserve one.
^ this.
I’ve logged about 2.5k hours, had two precursors drop, crafted the one legendary I want and working my way through ascendeds that I need. Asking for hand outs is not the way to go about it. If players play solely to obtain a legendary, what happens when they get it?
Can you imagine a town full of people with LSD influenced screens? Awesome
At the very least, anet should really have a look at how skills synergize with each other outside of combo fields. Gw1 had some excellent synergies between skills such that certain skills will take advantage of effects provided by another skill.
For instance a skill knocks down a for while a second a skill applies bleeding on a knocked down for. A third applies cripple to a bleeding for. These sorts of old school synergies were incorporated into trait lines so that the skills themselves don’t synergize anymore
Spend some cash each year in my birthday to get some skins but otherwise my gold income is enough to cover gems when I want to convert
Well looks like you all had fun. I was busy getting tanked at a farewell party. So drunk fractals!
ah, I stand corrected. Ah the old Aurora’s Glade in GW1, what a lovely area that was
Hello,
There’s a bug at that location where the displaced spirit NPCs are glitched up into trees where you cannot interact with them.
Thanks
another zerker thread? must be a slow day
Rather than think of GW2 as having an end goal (in the over arching story there is but that’s another topic) but approach as a series of activities. You might log in and do some dungeons, some map exploration, some crafting, hanging out in a town and chatting with people, wardrobe-ing your character. That sort of thing. I’ve got 5 chars to 80 and I do a mix of stuff with most of them. Often times it’s fractals other times it’s harvesting materials for ascended crafting.
It’s not a sandbox game but there’s a big enough world that there’ll be something to do somewhere
The disclaimer that this is entirely optional does nothing to hide the fact that were this proposal adopted (which it never will be but for the sake of the argument), players WILL take it on and the in game economy will pretty much instantly (relatively speaking) get hit by hyperinflation. The big infusion of gold into the economy will virtually overnight create a wealth gap that is significantly bigger than what we see now. Precursors will shoot up in price as will legendary weapons.
A better way to drive away players I couldn’t think of
