Which is to say….you can’t.
Spidy reports that it’s only going for 1g50 ish. So easily affordable
For some reason, every time I see a bump on this thread I keep thinking Let them eat putain, which is obviously bad
Well, if they did that, it’d start a new craze of dungeon grinding
A junk recycler! Give things that are obvious broken metal, like lock picks and what not and they recycle in to the ore as nightly suggested.
At the risk of being a bit racist, maybe the ability to trade with the few friendly grawl tribes some broken claws and fangs in exchange for mats. The grawl are obvious references to native americans after all. Broken clumps of ore can be traded with jotun or ettins for chef materials.
Busted shinies can be traded with skritt for certain types of ore.
An alternative currency, item for item swaps, could liven up the scene a bit. However, there would be obvious repercussions on the in game economy so should something like this come to pass, Anet would have to do some serious thinking about it
Depends heavily on what content you do most. If you hit fractals a lot then getting the capacitor is cheap (I’ve got 3 ascended infused versions) Otherwise, the other ones all require pretty significant investment in time and gold
I’d say I’m roughly in the middle of the bunch in terms of rewards.
Over the last 2 years, since release, I’ve only racked up 2000 hours or so and I’ve had
- 2 precursors as drops (One I made into a legendary)
- 6 fractal skins
- 9 ascended armour/weapon boxes.
- 1 dungeon trinket exclusive recipe (these are kitten ed rare)
- Lost count of the number of exotics as drops. Probably a good couple dozen by now.
Although I compare that to an ex-guildie who has played maybe 1200 hours and got 4 precursors as drops…
Lately, I’ve just been signing in to flip a little. When I played a lot, I’d make anywhere between 1 and 10g per session, which was about 4 hrs ish, so you could say gold income wasn’t exactly an issue.
Admittedly these days my game activity is quite a bit lower. I been taking a break since I’ve done the LS chapters and am waiting on the next update. But have a lot of IRL stuff to deal with.
Rewards aren’t so much rare as they are lacklustre. There needs to be worthy events or content that leads to a significant reward at the end. Something like a weekly or monthly super event where the odds of getting a super rare or unique items are boosted by 10,000% or something. Something that requires an enormous amount of effort on the part of the players and a commitment in time, which is justly rewarded at the end.
The way I leveled to 500 weapon smith was:
1. Mats refinement till I got no experience
2. Discover all the dagger recipes (Berserker, Assassin, etc).
3. Discover sword recipes
4. Discover greatsword recipes
Reason being that it makes my ancient wood stock piles last longer. At the time I was leveling to 500, ancient wood was significantly rarely than orichalcum. This was before they started popping regularly from salvages. Daggers, swords and great swords only use orichalcum to craft their main components while wood is only used in the dowels.
Once you can craft ascended mats, start working towards the vision crystal, that will give you quite a nice boost of exp. If you’re intending to make a few ascended weapons, it doesn’t hurt to stock pile a few vision crystals. The other ascended mats, mithrilium and ectoplasm residue, aren’t as much help as they’re time gated so unless you plan to spread your leveling over a few days don’t count on them being a source of exp. However, you should do them as part of preparation for making your weapon otherwise it’s a huge waste of time again because of the time gating.
I recommend making a point of doing regular iron and platinum runs. These mats are where you will be most short as Deldrimor steel requires a LOT of iron, in the form of iron ingots and steel ingots.
The map areas are largely designed so that as you progress through a map you’ll level up,, if you do everything, to match the mobs in the area. So for instance, Queensdale is a 1-17 area which borders Kessex Hills, a 15-25 area. As you progress from Divinity’s Reach and provided you level up by doing the personal story as well as the various things in the zone, you should be between level 15-17 by the time you reach the portal that leads into Kessex Hills. The best push to move to a new zone is doing map completion. This definitely should get you up to the level you need to move on.
There are dynamic events that appear from time to time within each zone. These plus the renown hearts are the replacement for quests in GW2. Renown hearts can only be done once as part of map completion but dynamic events can be done repeatedly, but they don’t restart straight away. So the best way to do them is really just to wander around a zone and join in as they pop up.
There’s actually a rather odd bug that I’ve encountered a few times. The boulders can randomly despawn so that the vents won’t shut off. You just have to go back and find the boulder and plug it again,
First stage against the dragon body. Same as now, but instead of killing him outright, you blow off his wings and tail so he falls.
Second stage of the fight also against the dragon body. Similar to the Battle of Claw Island. Have Pact forces deploy siege lasers and artillery, which you have to defend while swarms of Orrians attack, and I mean swarms. Like Balthazar level swarms. Once deployed the siege start beating back the swarms and battering at Zhaitan’s body until he falls. If the lasers are destroyed during that fight, Zhaitan regrows his wings and you retreat to the Glory of Tyria to shoot him down again. Once you succeed, the siege lasers rip his body open to reveal…!
Third stage. Inside the dragon body is the “core” body, the Great Eye of Zhaitan much like the one you fight during the Pact mission but bigger and more powerful. To defeat the Eye, you have to over charge the lasers so that they form a big reflecting shield that reflects a powerful stunning beam attack back on to the Eye which will disable it for a while. Your party then has to charge in and bash it, or use the siege artillery, while also fending off Risen who port in to defend the Eye. The whole time, lots of Risen spawn so your party and the Pact forces have to use siege artillery to defend your position.
Defeating a dragon should be an epic encounter
No there isn’t. Simply because dungeons and fractals aren’t so difficult that you need more help
three, HoTW, CoE and Arah. Fractals is like 9 dungeons or something. I just go Force/Night on my great sword for everything. It’s not I really pay attention to the numbers any way.
Anet should introduce a Coliseum style feature. One person, foolishly, volunteers to jump into the arena and faces off, solo, hordes of mobs while other players hang around the stands and look on approvingly….wait, do it in the Bane in Black Citadel!
This makes me feel like I’m slacking at my job. I’ve got story mode open on all dungeons. I have ascended stuff, I have a legendary. Either I’m really time efficient or I seriously need to get out more. Most likely the latter.
Probably archidiviner, because I always tell my Warrior to Rush into his hammer
The new system of levelling needs a tweak. The old system made levelling too easy, the current system is just tedious. I’ve done 5 chars and started on a 6th post change and just got bored. That’s even with using a lvl 20 scroll to get close to the trait start point at 30.
I always have so many ideas and suggestions in games that people most people like and agree with. Why is there no official place for suggestions in this forum? :[
Because Anet closed the suggestions forum due to all the infighting that went on
That’s weird. From 400-425 or so, you should be able to do that just by refining the T6 mats. After that it would only take about 25 or so exotic discoveries to max to 500. That’s how I did my armorsmith, weaponsmith, huntsman. If I could be bothered I’d do it for the remainder of the professions too. It helps if you have the crafting boosters as well as the guild crafting buff.
Amongh my characters, I’ve got a guardian and a necro that I leveled to 80. And between the two, I far prefer the necro over the guardian. I tend to play solo a lot so the necro’s more selfish characteristics suits me. I say the same thing about my ranger too. Both are very self sufficient classes that tend to handle most things quite well alone. If I go for parties in fractals or dungeons, I use my warrior and depending on the group, I might make him very selfish as well.
And before someone asks, all of my characters are kitted in full exotic or a mix of exotic and ascended gear.
shift+click or alt+click already tag the skill that you’re using without casting it. So really it’s just down to how fast you can ping then cast your skill.
It would be very annoying if you can’t turn it off because every time you use a skill, it will ping party chat and eventually your party members will just want to kick you. The current system works just fine. get used to shift/alt + click then casting if you want to call attention to what you’re doing
Therefore, it is incumbent on those wishing to change the system to point out why it would be worth ANet’s time to implement a system that competes with the TP. So far, I haven’t seen anyone make that case.
I’ve yet to see any refutations of my suggestion that it could potentially bring product back into circulation, rather than cause hoarding. Someone might be waiting for a price hike to sell something in order to make back money on a mistaken purchase or just they were hoarding it for when the price goes up and might not want to take the loss that selling (or re-selling) the item would bring. However, if they could trade it for something else of equal value, they just might, which brings it into circulation rather than just sitting in someone’s bank.
Alternatively, maybe someone has an item or items that sell slowly or not for the price they quite want, and would rather trade it for something that’s easier to sell, while someone else might want that item in the first place.
Can you refute that it couldn’t possibly cause more supply to hit the market and circulate, even if only from people who might want a better exchange rate between their item(s) and the item(s) they want?
Extremely high value, extremely low supply, very low volatility, items like precursors and legendary items would go up in price and in fact encourage hoarding because players who seek to swap them would dilute the stock available in the gold TP. Thus as the stock in the gold TP dwindles, the price rises. However, this leads to the flip side issue where the price becomes so high no one would buy it and swap trades would be the only way of circulating the items.
The elite Elementalist armours in GW1 were lovely, the pyro-, geo-, hydro- and aeromancer armours. It was quite nice how each profession got different armours. However I guess the idea here is less about the profession and more about the races, hence the racial armours.
The original Primeval armour in GW1 is better than the GW2 version, particularly the shoulder pads. I don’t really want the skull of some animal as a pauldron.
i am glad to see that there are more ppl who think tp flipping is not the way to play the game : )
It’s not the way to play the game but it is a way to play the game. It’s been said many times before, without flippers constantly sinking gold into the TP, amongst other forms of gold sinking, and removing it from the game, the regular influx of created money via loot drops, dungeons, event rewards etc would create a massive pool of gold in the economy. If everyone has access to near unlimited amounts of gold, it loses its value and the prices of everything goes up. This is a really simplistic view of things as economics isn’t my strong point.
Real world examples were pre WW2 when the German government kept printing deutschmarks but the large scale availability of money led to hyperinflation. A similar thing happened in Zimbabwe. It got so bad that USD$1 was worth 1 QUADRILLION Zimbabwean dollars. To go out to buy a pair of trousers cost 10billion Zimbabwean dollars. The Zimbabwe government ended up introducing a new currency the NEW Zimbabwean dollar which was the same as the old one just without all the zeros. Turkey did the same with the Lira by lopping off something like 7 zeros from their currency.
Without effective gold sinks in the game, you would see precursors, and everything linked to making a legendary, cost at least double if not triple what the going rate is now.
What are you talking about mate? Legendary weapons are the top tier luxury items in this game. I just offered proof that Precursors are highly affordable to nearly anyone, including new players.
I beg to differ. Rodgort’s is an awesome looking Legendary. The animations are top notch. The torch head almost looks alive. And if they were so useless, then why would someone have purchased my Rodgort’s Flame listing from the TP?
Because from a mechanic perspective, they make the three least useful weapons in the game.
I was doing some research, and discovered that there are Precursors being sold for super cheap on the TP as I type! The image I’m attaching will shatter the mythos of Precursors being too expensive. These Precursors aren’t 2,000 Gold. Or 1,500 Gold. Or even 1,000 Gold. Amazingly, the price is between 90 to 115 Gold!!! How exactly did these deals go unnoticed for so long?
Because no one uses torches. And the vast majority of people won’t fight in the water unless necessary and who wants to spend their time showing off a legendary underwater?
In phase 3, there is a very safe spot for rangers. Head towards the right ledge but before you get there, there is a small overhang with a very small ledge. From there, with 1500 range, you can shoot him in the head. During his stun phase you need to creep forward a little bit, use walk mode, and you should be able to still keep hitting him. Strangely, barrage is out of range, but you can hit the ice crystals that form.
The other safe spot for rangers is down the cliff to Claw’s right. Again with 1500 range, you can pew pew him from there in perfect safety. You’ll be able to reach him during his stun phase as well. The only skills you can use are Long range shot and rapid fire. Barrage doesn’t reach because you can’t see the top of the plateau.
Great jungle wurm has a double damage spot right if you stand at the one of his ridge of spines.
Golem mark 2 has a double damage spot if you stand at any of the corners of its block.
Tequatl’s one is like Claw and Shatterer. Somewhere between his neck and front paws. It can take a bit of shuffling to get it. Each triple headed wurm has one as well. It’s a bit tricky to find but usually you’ll hit it by stacking on the commander tag.
It’ll vary from week to week depending on your server’s performance. So if it’s doing well, you might have a 10% bonus by the end of the week before reset.
You can see the active bonuses by hitting B and opening up the general WvW summary page
There are plenty of PvE exclusive armor skins, it’s just that people don’t bother to go looking for them. I’m sorry, but PvP can have their new exclusive skins. I’m glad they have them, and I’ll congratulate anybody who puts the work into getting them. I won’t be one of them, I hate PvP. Good luck with those new skins!
One of my guild mates has earned the Fashion title…the nutter..
Confirmation that players who have three tags or less will get the option of converting one of the tags into a different colour would be nice.
I made the mistake of buying another tag last night and applying the tag instead of waiting for the update as that was my assumption. So if Anet doesn’t do this, then it’s my bad and I have no expectation of being reimbursed in any way. I might buy another one and hold out on applying that one, so I can at least get one different colour for sure :p
Anet would have to introduce something suitably challenging to be worthy of its own set of armour.
In GW1, there were the Fissure of Woe armour and Obsidian sets for people who tackled the high end dungeons and even then it took some doing. Arah is the nearest thing to that level of dungeon (which is being generous since FoW and the Underworld were substantially harder).
Rewards should come with rewarding content
O M G
That is awesome
inb4threadlock.
I’m primarily a PVEr, and imo PvP, and WvW, are due for a massive influx of developer attention. They’ve been short changed for so long that I’m really impressed that so many players are still playing those modes.
Catering to 1 aspect of the game has 1 result, and only 1, all the other modes are killed off and players who play those modes mostly will leave. The flow on effect from that will be those players spreading word that the maker of the game doesn’t care about <insert game mode> and that people shouldn’t play it as it’s full of <insert derogatory term> who only play <insert game mode that is being catered for>.
Throw everyone a bone every now and again and the makers will keep most of their player base. Throw out some meat and more will join in.
I posted this in another thread but will say the same thing again.
If a player is good enough to compete in a tournament, then they deserve something for winning, something that no one else has. Competitive play in GW2 has been neutered of rewards over the last few updates. It’s about time they got something that PVE’ers didn’t. I don’t play PvP myself, I largely stick to PVE with some WvW every now and then and PVE gets the majority of everything simply because that’s where the majority of players are. PvP’ers and WvW’ers have been short changed for way too long
Get to the next tier of AP where the armours are available again. It’s not really that far away. I got to 10k AP and…I have no use whatsoever for the hellfire OR the radiant armours…
Rather than tie it to WvW rank, it should be tied to the number of points that you cap for your guild in wvw. By which I mean, having your flag displayed at a tower, keep or camp. That usually implies that you’ve led an assault and provided bonuses to your blob through the guild bonuses. That’s a sign of leadership. Everything else is just fluff.
So say, cap 1000 points and apply a guild bonus to each one to earn your commander pip. Thereafter new colours can be unlocked for every 500 points capped. Given the amount of time wvw players spend there, these sorts of levels shouldn’t be hard to achieve.
This isn’t likely ever to be implemented but it’s nice to throw ideas around
If a player is good enough to compete in the top tier tournaments, then they deserve something that no one else has. It’s like the threads asking for the Heritage armour sets to be made available on the gem store. GW1 vets got something to reward their loyalty to the game. This should not be cheapened by making it generally available. The same principle applies to the Glorious Hero armour.
I burned 100g last night to get another comm tag, so down to 700g. But if I factor material values, probably another few hundred G for that and 1 legendary.
So my net assets is probably worth about 5k gold or thereabouts I guess?
Orichalcum is a lot easier to come by these days. Salvaging green and blue weapons, lots of them, yields quite a bit of ori. Rare and Exos yield more regular ori. In fact, I hardly mined ori nodes since the armour salvage was yielding so much for me
You motherkittening kittenfaced kittenhole doesn’t really have a lot of impact don’t ye know
@OP
As I main both a warrior AND a necro, I have to say that this change is massively overdue. The ability to build up a full bar of a adrenalin in a few attacks is fine give that’s the idea behind adrenalin. It comes and goes quickly. But for warriors to be able to miss a burst but still retain the adrenalin made for mindless play. There was no cost involved in screwing up.
Now, with death shroud, I’m sure other necro players will agree with me, if you punch it at the wrong moment or dismiss at the wrong moment you’re pretty screwed. One reason is there are 2 cool downs built in. A 10s one when you first activate it and a reactivated 10s cooldown if you cancel it manually. It also removed your ability to cleanse yourself unless you trait for it.
Depending on the build, the sum total of HP+DS for a necro would still be less than a warrior even with zerk gear.
Lifeforce also decays during use in addition to absorbing your damage. So although you gained effectively another health bar, it would deplete at twice the rate of your main health bar but took at least three times longer to fill compared to adrenalin.
Quite frankly, if you don’t understand another class’s abilities you would do well to keep your trap shut.
it also inserts it when words are separated by a space. Kitten completely confuses the sentence
Examples
- the word for where weapons are kept and the name of a famous English Premier league soccer team -> kitten nal
- “pen” and “is”. The kitten mightier than the sword.
Living story is end game basically. You can’t really do the instances without being 80. I believe it up scales you to 80 anyway, but the mobs can hit pretty hard and the new mobs, yes new mobs, spam a lot of condition damage as well as having some new fight mechanics such as invulnerability to damage from certain directions. There’s a few new champions in the new zone that are a hell of a lot more fun to fight than the other zones. i.e. they’re not punching bags. They can and will wipe a lot of people who aren’t paying attention. I quite like the new zone, it’s interesting, it’s 3 dimensional, the events are fun and it’s not completely filled with zerglings
Or I dunno, try looking for a party earlier in the evening? If real life intrudes so much that you’re not able to get in to, or host, a high level fractal late at night then it’s your life that is taking precedence and it’s not up to Anet to sort that out for you.
When people have the option of doing comparably simple events to activate an environment where you can get champ boxes without fighting champs? I’m sure there will still be people around
When I saw the thread title the first thing that came through my mind was full of innuendo….
Because you’ve stuck it out for so long, you’re going to be reward with…a whole stack of Jenna’s
The guild or even the heritage armour might be what you’re after. As the necro shares the same armour, I’ve gone for 2 sets for mine. A mixed Vigil set and a mixed primitive set. Quite nice imoi
I think a great plot twist would be to have Trahearne turn evil, blaming his turning on the fact that we kept stealing his thunder and taking credit for the stuff he did. lol
I’ve actually been thinking about that for quite some time. Perhaps, in reality Trahearne is an agent for Mordremoth. Mordremoth has been seeking to off Zhaitan for a long time. So he bent Trahearne to his will and sent him out to influence the 3 orders of Tyria into defeating Zhaitan. This is largely because Mordremoth represents life while Zhaitan represents unlife and thus both are polar opposites.
In time, when Jormag encroaches further south, Primordus might rise up and the forces of the two will face off against each other. Fire versus Ice (A song of ice and fire?)
Kralkatorrik and the Deep Sea Dragon may do the same as one represents stasis and lack of change as judged by the crystalisation of creatures into the Brand while the DSD represents the tides and constant change.
Or ironically, it was in GW1 but not 2
