One of the devs agreed with the requirement that a majority vote should be the norm but apparently there are some coding issues behind it that mean it won’t be implemented this patch
I’ve been using the standard setup for WASD. I’ve almost never used QE for left right strafing. I’ve played with AD+hold right mouse button to strafe simply because the camera control is entirely based on the sensitivity of your mouse. As I have sensitivity control on the mouse I can reposition the character and camera pretty quickly
Patch notes haven’t been fully updated.
I believe that what they’re doing now means everyone will see all languages in map chat but doesn’t prwvwnt thwm from re-enabling the option so thay you can see whatever language you wish.
Tbh, I was quite excited about multi server guild option. The fact that my guild has died isn’t really relevant, but at least I can get my hands on all that influence that has accumulated
This would be the first step on a very slippery slope. Anet I urge to not give in on this abomination! If you do then next Pennsylvania Folk will demand Scrapple! Scots will demand Haggis (shudders at the resounding tread), and Austrians will demand vegemite. The list goes on, while the mind boggles!
“Nay”, I say! A thousand times NAY!
I’m pretty sure austrians won’t have much of an idea of what vegemite is…but Australians on the other hand…
First. To switch servers you pick the world selection button in your login screen. Selwc the world you wantpto move to and if it’s not full you’ll just need to pay the gem cost to move.
Second. The market for all NA and EU servers are the same. So a chaos dagger skin where you are now will be same on another server
Make one of them infused then you can use both as they then count as two separate unique items. I did it on my thief a while back until I had the second zerk ascended ring
The inquest armour is pretty close to what you want. Particularly the leggings
Anet choosing the topic makes sense. Letting the forum users choose would just end up with buckets of posts about what to talk about without actually getting anywhere
The other thing is that ascended trinkets are account bound anyway so you could begin acquisition of a new set dedicated to fractals. This is as good a reason to start from beginning. Ascended accessories would be the biggest killer as you an only get those with guild commendations or laurels
It vanishes when you draw the sword
Have you gotten the underwater one in LA where the drill is?
I think there’s a new one in Brisban wildlands associated with the LS.
Also, explorer and map completion are not tied together 100%. There are many areas in zones that have no POI but are nonetheless zones which go towards the explorer achievement.
Rather than be wvwvw, make it wvw. Server on server. Redesign the map so its format is reminiscent of the Luxon vs Kurzick faction fighting.
Basic format looks something like this.
- Each side has a citadel, much like it is now. However, it would gave a supply point that generates supply like the eotm linked one now.
- Between each citadel is a stretch of territory filled with resource points and strategic locations.
- at each location only a commander may start construction of a particular structure, whether it be a camp, tower or outpost.
- sites can be upgraded up to 5 times with each level opening up new upgrades. Upgrades can be accelerated by players bringing supplies from other camps or the citadel.
- camps provide construction resource to the sites and can be upgraded similar to the camps now. But higher upgrades increase the strength of the supply caravans delivering supplies to the point that a level 5 caravan will be guarded by very strong NPC’s, possibly legendary level(?)
- towers guard strategic passes and bridges or fords. Upgrade to level 5 opens the option to build a way point in a tower. Other upgrades include the options of stronger walls, defensive weaponry. To prevent over building of player owned siege, each tower tier will have a limited number of locations where siege can be deployed, which will be untargettable from the ground (no more aoe suppression). This number increases with tower tier. Upgraded towers will also have extended lines of sight for spotting enemy movement.
- outposts are mini defensive positions that operate as scouting posts. It will be manned by NPC’s and will show enemy movements on the minimap. Upgraded versions will add minimal defensive weaponry but not so much that they are as strong as a tower but good enough to delay an enemy zerg. They can be occupied by players to use as defensive positions.
Points are gained by capping sites and constructing structures. System is still ppt but will be per hour rather than per 15min. Upgraded structures will generate more points per hour. Additional ppt can also be gained by capturing enemy structures with a small initial injection for capturing. Alternatively, a large once off injection of points can be obtained by destroying the structure.
That’d be my basic layout for a wvw contest. Something that requires strategic planning and a good number of committed players. I’d hope for a map design that allowed even a small number of players in a good defensive position to hold out against a larger force. There’d be forested terrain for massing surprise attacks and ambushes. Choke points where massed artillery could wreak havoc on enemy mobs. All the sorted of things that a mediaeval fight should have
Keys are the way to go then. Cos you might get one of those insects in a chest
Interesting. Good thing I only crafted a few easy pieces but otherwise everything else were drops from fractals.
“Horrik! Unleash the cannons!” Never was there a boss whose words caused so much panic in a party.
Probably because the price would be astronomical.
I believe it will still transfer just that it will be instacleansed because of the immunity
in case you missed the memo, NCSoft servers were hit by a DDOS. Took down the NA then lagged the EU servers to hell
cos exploiting an event is the way anet intended the game to work amirite?
The Manifesto promised ‘no grind’.
To me, this means I should be able to access content in the game without needing to do any excessive farming (excessive: repeating any piece of content more than three times, and for any reason other than I find it fun and want to do it).
This game is nearly 95% farming. I’m still working on outfitting my 7 (soon to be
characters with a full set of exotic gear plus sigils and runes. I have no legendaries, no ascended.
Bosses – whether they be world, or dungeon – should have chances to drop exotic, and even legendary, items. The chance should be high enough that we shouldn’t have to repeat content more than two or three times to get it. Dungeon token rewards should be higher, or not capped every day.
GW2 was promised to NOT be a treadmill of any kind – but it IS.
I have 6 character 5 of whom are 80s all kitted out either in exos or ascended/exo with full exo, exo/ascended, ascended trinkets. I certainly didn’t need to farm any of that. I crafted most of my armour from materials that I accumulated over the course of just playing the game. Other exos I got from dungeon tokens again without farming them, just doing them here and there
Farming is only “required” if you want the items “now”.
Pretty obvious they are targeting GW2 of all the NcSoft games – it seems to be hitting consistently after one of the “major” world events has started to cause the most pain.
It’s not just GW2. This past week (at least according to their twitter) they have attacked and temporarely taken down WoW (some servers), LoL NA, Eve Online (partially), Runescape, Brazzers and even the FBI website.
Oh I know it’s not just GW2, I’m just saying that when they choose to hit NcSoft, it is during GW2 major events – there is no way it’s coincidental.
Although it’s easy to get angry at these people, on the flip side, I rather pity them tbh.
Their lives are so sad and pointless that they go to these lengths to get attention but it doesn’t change the fact that they’re still sad and pointless. Mere irrelevancies in society
EU just got hit.
When the law catches up to these guys I almost want to be there to unload some skale venom onto them
Watching an ele run away from me in mistform, in wvw, and come out of it next to a moa, only to accidentally aggro it. It responded by pecking the ele. After a biff with me, the poor ele could only take one hit and down she went. I shook my head the whole time I was going through the stomp animation
Don’t be too surprised that in the next update the event will be patched to prevent this from happening. Players are creative, they’ll find another place to mob and farm. Give them some time to realise the sheer amount of time wasted getting worked up over trivial things like this. The sweet, sweet moment of revelation
Well, there you have it Gaile has laid the law down.
The people who were saying they would report you had it backwards.
It just boils down to: 1 click/button press does precisely one action.
You’ve flipped it round, making it slightly more complex because you’re using a controller, using multiple keys to do 1 action, which Gaile has confirmed is fine
If I am coming off as hard headed or not understanding something, sorry. I’m a para-schizo so I have some difficulties here. Maybe I am not totally grasping the megaserver thing but I just want to play with my friends, their guild, and interact with and meet new people outside their guild that roleplay even when they are offline. Also if my friends DO do WvWvW, I would want to join them and help their side, not fight against them.
Megaserver is this idea that Anet implemented so that no map was ever empty. They do this by putting people from any server into a map, lets call it server 1, until it’s full, the limit is 150. When that hard cap is reached a new “shard”, server 2, is opened up. It’s exactly the same as server 1 with the same event timers, events, everything. When that is full another copy is created, server 3, and so on. In PVE, irrespective of what server you’re from, assuming you’re not in a party and the server is not capped, you could end up with people from Blackgate, Jade Quarry, Tarnished Coast, etc (I’m on the EU servers so I don’t know that many NA servers). For me I’ve ended up on maps with people from Desolation, Gandara (my home server), Ring of Fire, Whiteside Ridge, etc etc.
Meeting up with your guild is no problem, as unless the map is full you’ll be able to see where you’re guildmates are when you look at the guild roster and their map location. Their character names will also stand out in the throngs of other players because the text is in gold.
This means you’ll always find people doing the sorts of stuff you want to participate in. However if you want to do WvW then you’re pretty much stuck hoping for a slot in the server population to open up from someone transferring out.
If you have more than 3 tags you’ll be given 100g back for each one beyond 3. Whether you’ll get the option of changing the colours of your existing ones I don’t think so and I don’t expect so
What I suggest, and this may sound bad, is any account that has not logged in for a few months like, maybe 6 months or so, be tossed out of the server. Keep your character and progress but get shuffled to a mostly empty one or back to the screen where you have to pick your home world again. Or on some kind of character limbo where you no longer take up space but if you come back you can get in again, I don’t know. Just something to think about because people that stop playing all together are still taking up space.
See I also don’t want to spend the entire day infront of the PC again just watching because it could possibly go ahead and open a slot them fill again when I leave the room for some reason. I just really want to get in and play since GW1 was such a great game and this looks amazing. I was told part of the issue is people that transfer just to go to the server that is top tier in WvWvW, thus taking up space for people that want to play with the community and interact.
Well, that wouldn’t work would it? I mean, quite a lot of people may have paid to move to TC but for one reason or another are on hiatus. It’s like if I bought a parking space that went with my apartment, but I’ve just sold my car or I’ve lent it to my brother so the space is empty and the real estate agent turning around and saying sorry you haven’t used it for 6months we’re taking it back.
Unless you’re aiming to play WvW as well, then it really doesn’t matter which server you join now because it lumps everyone into a map until it is full then creates a new shard, then when that is full a new one is created. So you’ll have people representing all the NA servers in one map. If you want to meet up with your friends from TC just add them to your friends list and party up with them. Then go to the map they’re in, right click on their party icon and select Join in <whatever map you’re in>. Even if you were in the same guild, the mega server still hasn’t been set so it preferentially puts you in shards where your guild mates are in. Yeah, it’s that good
Because Season 2 was a major success.
Because Season 1 was a major success.
Because WvW has been a major success
Isn’t also lovely that engineers have gotten love? Now EVERYONE is an engineer with nade spam. Reminds me of the good old counter strike days
The WvW team is actually one guy who usually works on the gem store, but occasionally during his free time he messes around with adding stuff to WvW.
1 year of development, a single siege mastery, 3 woooah colours for the commander tag and a 1200 range grenade that disables siege in a 450 radius. Haha.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to disable siege and buff golems does not play wvw
This is an awesome feature, except for K-Train zergs. This will allow a server to get defenders to the objective, and then a fight will ensue. Keep fights are awesome.
If you think about it, it also empowers attackers if it is a throw AOE. Everyone knows that AOEs overlap onto wall tops so you can just bury the walls in grenades and disable every AC, ballista and treb up there then roll your zerg up to have all your siege disabled by the same grenades and PVD some more. Basically, the only things you’d have to fight would be burning oil and cannon and those will last 10s against focused fire.
So basically, you end up with two sides trying to carry as many grenades as possible and disabling each other’s siege to the point that siege is unnecessary and it’s all blob fights and PVD
They wanted to keep the UI in line with the way it was in GW1. I do like this simplified UI.
Bags with content – no. What game has that? That means you can nest bags within bags within bags – too confusing.
Two quivers of arrows will make quiver of bolts!
(1) Button to quickly scroll to the end, or the place would not reset when inventory is closed/opened.
(2) 4-8 slots which are always visible, and does not scroll. E.g., to keep the salvage kit and buffs always easily accessible.
(3) Inventory tabs. I would like to separate crafting stuff from all other.
(4) Bags movable to and from the bank with their content. I would like to move crafting stuff to bank, and adventuring stuff from bank to inventory when going out.
The compact operation could cause problem; inventory tabs could help there.
You do realise that you can resize your inventory window so you don’t have to scroll at all, yes? You can make your inventory window 20 slots wide if you want, there’s a resize point at the bottom right of the window
Or,
1. empty your inventory before going to TP
2. get bigger inventory boxes
3. buy extra character inventory slot
Sorry to put it this way, but your inability to organise your items isn’t a reason to change how the TP works
Hmm, I used a condimancer for that fight. Took a while, but it worked out
I’d rather see a back item that was more representative of each class. Maybe a back piece showing two stowed swords. A big scabbard for Greatswords, etc.
Seeing things just stuck to a back is disconcerting.
Wiki is your friend
Think of it as catering to the average. There are the loudly vocal critics and the just as vocal fans, but in terms of player population, they’re likely to be outliers in statistics. Thus Anet aims to cater for the majority who are in the middle who are neither too critical nor too fanboyish
EU hasn’t really kicked in yet. It’s just after lunch time so only the kiddies on holiday are playing. Wait till the working population get home to log in.
wow I thought this thread had died
Crafting a legendary should be a long term task not something that should be done in a short time frame. I, in an amazing blaze of luck, got the one precursor for a legendary that I actually wanted (Bolt). It then took me the better part of a year to complete it, simply because out of choice, I didn’t bend all of my time and effort to making it. It boiled down to “hmm today I might do some fractals, some dungeons, some wvw, ooh look I have some resources I can put towards my legendary.” At the end of the day, when I count up all the time I actually spent on working towards the legendary, it would probably add up to a month and a bit.
I completely understood OP’s point about the cost of precursors but also wanted to make the point that there are reasons for such a massive price disparity. If I drop another precursor, I’m going to be laughing all the way to the bank
Oh kitten , and just when I was taking a break from the game…
could be worse ! Let them eat putin.
Which in french, is pronounced the same as putain!
(editing to say… I actually have no idea what that stuff is that he is eating xD)
Putain Putin’s Putain Poutine?
Make another one?
Some people certainly do have many tags. To be entirely frank, the re-price to 300g makes a great deal of sense, if you choose to have > 3 characters and intend on having commanders on all of them. yes, the initial outlay is steep, but the end result is that you can have every character with a tag. As a long term investment it is very cheap.
However, I think Anet has gone to extremes. Rather than wholesale replace the commander tag with only an account bound tag, players should be given the option of purchasing the 100g tag instead except this would be soulbound while still allowing a colour change.
Players would then have the best of two options
1. A tag with a colour of choice for 1 character at 100g
2. A tag with a colour of choice for all characters at 300g
I’m surprised Anet didn’t think of that.
I’m surprised the moderators haven’t slapped down this thread an infracted everyone (or almost everyone)
So if I am reading this right now not only will the skill fail due to very poor targeting now I will lose adrenaline when the mechanics fail?!?! Can you just remove all damage from Warriors while you are at it? I will be facing a target click a skill and it will jump backwards, swing and miss since there is no “in range” mechanic. In pvp warriors will become the unused class since everyone will be able to dodge every attack. Oh look a warrior is about to use a skill move 1 centimeter to the left and no damage will be done.
Sorry this sounds like a rant but I have missed more times than not due to the poor targeting mechanics and now I will be losing all the adrenaline when the mechanics fail just takes it over the top. I would like to know how do you target something that auto un-targets itself every 2-3 seconds? I will be almost touching someone and it misses just for no reason.
Please repair the targeting system and something to let you know you will hit what you are facing or remove all the ranged toons ability to follow their target (i.e. rapid fire will follow a moving target, mesmers confusing images does the same I can go on but I think you get the point). I could see if you get “Blocked” losing adrenaline but if the skill fails to the due to the broken mechanics than it should not be lost.
End rant
It’s been often said but leaving in the ability to retain your adrenalin on a miss encourages lazy game play. You should be penalised for bad timing/targeting/positioning. This is not a mechanic fail, this is a player fail. Many a time when I’ve missed an attack, either from blind, shortened range due to a CC, or whatever, I’m actually angry that the game just pats me on the back and basically says “don’t worry, have another go”.
Adrenalin management in GW1 gave the warrior a level of complexity that was on par with energy management for the spell casters. Without this, warriors are just a face roll class that requires little to no skill in playing.
could be worse ! Let them eat putin.
