The tell was implemented to give players facing rangers a fighting chance to dodge the pushback if they need to get in melee range to do damage or are on precarious terrain. Has nothing to do with exposing bad rangers, those are already apparent.

All they really need is a 200 or 100. That way they can still discourage people from grinding gems to buy small items in the gem store while making people that buy gems from them more comfortable in grinding out whatever supplemental gems they need.

Heads up, this might be merged.

This company has fallen so far since Guild Wars Prophecies. It’s indescribably sad.

Was this the same company who felt it necessary to nerf several almost harmless farms in the Crystal Desert? The same one which had the Favor of the Gods exist only so long as your region could keep winning in the Hall of Heroes, otherwise you needed scrolls to access Underworld/Fissure of Woe? The same one which had refund points early on until they disappeared, preventing you from really experimenting within a class/subclass structure unless you devoted a lot of grind time to leveling?

It amazes me how people forget about that sort of thing.

Nostalgia removes the bad parts.

On topic.

Used to mad, just relatively disappointed now. It’s hurting people who:

a: Want things from the gem store
b: Dont want to pay

While still allowing them to do so provided they farm until they’re sick.

It makes sense, if you consider Anet actually wants to profit from the gem store. Consider the possibility that the people who are aggravated at the gem store are clamoring “pay to win” and are generally displeased with everything being gem store only.

Maybe there are more people farming things out of the gemstore than is tolerable at the moment so there’s been a forced difficulty spike.

Deactivating rage. Still displeased because gem to gold is a cakewalk while gold to gem is impossihard relatively.

Arena.net DIDN’T get 200 gems profit from you. They got effectively NOTHING from you.

This entire change is all about making the gold to gem conversion process as difficult and irritating as possible. Hell, if it wouldn’t amount to outright revolt, I bet you the gold to gem process would have been gone yesterday.

Because, ya know, as irritating as it is now, you STILL have more options than someone who buys gems with cold, hard cash. And Arena.net wants you doing THAT, because THAT is money.

They’re now targeting the F2P crowd that is well used to this model, and have come to accept it. Because THAT crowd spends money. They spend a LOT of money. And probably far more than everyone complaining in this thread put together.

Sad but true.

As I said before, the only thing that will be lost from a player who decides “hey, I dont want to spend any money on this and get cash shop items for free” and quits because he cant do that is the memory required to render his avatar in the world.

The players in game are just going to fork over 400 gems if they can, and get on with their lives.

It’s really, really bad for players, like myself, who may have leftover gems and want to supplement that with gold conversions, but seeing as how many of the players apparently cannot do math, ignoring the uneven gem balance would probably be less strain on precious brain cells.

“But I’ll tell my friends not to play!!” wont even fly either, because I’m sure those used to the F2P, cash shop model have friends too.

Of course, this is all just assuming you need the gem store at all.

could just pretend the whole thing doesnt exist and leave it as a perk to people who actively and consistently support the game.

Yep it’s now not only popular but fun apparently with these new players to have RNG to the extreme in this manner. It’s reached it’s apex I agree OP. And they’ll defend it too. You’ll read statements like “it’s not all that bad” or “it’s a natural extension of the games design” or my personal favorite “why worry about go play something else”. I saw the worst of it in other titles recently. Their forums (just like this one) were filled with new players who’ve never played an mmo before or who were just too stupid to do the math who basically think it’s perfectly fine to play a game that is basically a lottery. Everything should have a drop rate. DR is awesome. People should pay for every tiny aspect of progression or advancement in every title.

Apparently no one has ethics anymore there is no limit to what these mmo developers are allowed to do over here and it’s getting worse. It’s almost to the point of paying per second really that’s what I see coming, a truly Chinese method of paying for game time.

we already have that here.

It’s called a subscription.

downside is you can only buy it in sets of 365 days.

There have been pretty much non-stop posts in this thread all day and yet the last “feedback” we got was 19 hours ago. Where are the devs?

Having lunch, duh!

I guess it’s taking a little longer than usual because they only wanted a couple of sandwiches but had to buy 400 of them.

Ps. My heart goes out to the devs that knew this was a bad idea but could do nothing to stop it.

Isn’t devaluation the risk you take investing in something? Why should anyone be entitled to see items grow in value?

Thing is this is more of a bragging right investment. Since all of this stuff was bound to your account anyway, having it was an investment in collector’s value.
I take this update as a slap into the face to veterans who played since the beginning and as a sign that anet is too lazy to make new rewards despite earning 100m $ a year with the game.

Bragging rights have no monetary value. I agree there should be some new ideas, but just keep that in mind.

I dont even care anymore. the rate at which people buy gems may just increase to bypass the gold conversion cripple. People in game that have that option arent just going to leave if they’re invested, and the people who it hurts most severely probably werent pumping money into the game to begin with.

If gem buyers, especially the ones that do not frequent the forums, do not suddenly go into hiding for people who may be converting gold, there probably will not be a change at all.

I was angry but now I’m just disappointed.

Excuse for new player (you take months old players for new player it seems but whatever) is just a lie. If a player couldn’t make the old gem store work, it means he couldn’t even power on his computer, and less use it, or use a mouse or a keyboard. He couldn’t even eat or drink alone.

There are parents to do that.

Proposition: Tickets are coming in by children who got GW2 as a gift and have a problem with basic math.

[/harshmode]

You mean like they cannot multiply? For example they have 100 times 9 and it equals 733?

On a serious note, the idea behind the system is to be less confusing. Why is it more confusing then? I certainly have no idea why, as the screenshot shows, I would get 100 gold for 733 gems if 1 gold cost 9 gems.

That is confusing as kitten as each option offers different amounts of gold per gem.

harshmodebackon();

Anet got tickets from children who cannot do basic math and decided to take advantage of it.

thwip

Someone hit a bullseye.

Once you acquire items for future investment, you risk devaluation. Especially if they are seasonal and you hold it for the same season to roll around again.

If you’re complaining about this, then you just suffered a common loss associated with investment.

If you’re complaining because you lost points in “special snowflake” That’s a you problem.

Ok, guys. Some of you are unhappy about this change, I can see that. BUT… quite honestly, most of you are sort of (I hate to use the word) ranting (sorry!) instead of offering suggestions.

if you pay me i give you a lot of suggestions…. there is a reason for this huge ranting…..

Gaile arenanet have to find the right way for this , not the player , but seems you don’t want to do the right things for the player (veterans or news) but only for your profit…..

That reply is the last thing we need right now.

“We kind of need suggestions on what you want”

“Lol pay me, otherwise figure it out”.

This isnt digital minesweeper. Do something.

Suggestion: Add a 100 Gem option for people who like trading in small increments

Ideal suggestion: Put it back to how it was.

I think arenanet is enough intelligent to know that the player want back the old system.

Obviously not, seeing as how they changed it in the first place and are asking “how can we fix it?”

so you think arenanet is stupid?

…. No?
I’m saying exactly what I mentioned. They determined there was a problem in a system that frankly wasn’t broken, and broke it trying to “fix” it. If they had believe the system was potent enough as it was, they would not have changed it in the first place.

I’m seeing some info about tickets coming in that are to the tune of “cant use gem store halllp” which makes sense somewhat, though.

1. Gemstore conversion needs to account for less than 400 gems, AND odd values.

2. NPE would be easier to digest for veteran players if they didn’t have annoying pop-ups. And the NPE lacks a crucial system to teach fields and finishers.

3. WvW balancing could use some love, and I’m glad you’re looking into that.

4. Players want new content, and I’m guessing you can’t afford the manpower to do both new content, and polishing. I would prefer polishing over new content, but that’s me.

5. Skill point implementation. At least make it cost cheaper? I get the idea you want people to put map exploring with trait acquisition, and that’s fine. And you have the idea that vets should be more than able to pay the resources to bypass the traits. That’s fine too. Buuuut they are costly. If I were to count in the hours of farming loss to buy traits or do events to get them for free, I would only get the bare necessities. Not really worth getting them all.

This, 100%. Concise, constructive, helpful, easy to back.

Suggestion: Add a 100 Gem option for people who like trading in small increments. Optionally, add a 25 and 50 gem option to allow people who need that extra 25 for the Black lion key or are 50 gems away from a hood mask or whatever to get what they need without an extra 450-475 gems of work.

Ideal suggestion: Put it back to how it was. Doubt the metrics will allow this so let’s propose the former.

. . . I really rankle at the reputation being saddled on the guy. He’s spoken out of a few things (most recently being how Traits are handled) but it gets buried, and forgotten, under how everyone remembers him for defending everything and anything blindly. Not to mention it’s rarely blindly. He does try out things before he passes judgement when it’s possible.

I’m not saying he is blind, I’m mentioning that he puts in significant effort to validate decisions that may otherwise be seen as a kick in the teeth by the majority, but this time is at a complete loss.

Forget whatever reputation people pile on him, the fact that he cannot actively defend this is a strong message.

….I’ve always seen him as a phoenix wright of sorts, don’t take my giggling as condescending or what have you. I actually find it humorous.

So please keep your thoughts coming on the new system. Feel free to make suggestions but please, keeping them constructive would be very much appreciated.

I need to know who it needs to be practical and desirable for before the system is adjusted.

Community? Now.

Anet? Probably never, since gold converters more often than not do not spend money to buy gems and the income comes from people who do, where gold conversion is conveniently placed at single piece transactions.

I’ll be honest with you and also point out something.

Up until this point, there have been several cases where decisions made by Anet had some form of understandable point. the NPE was one of them, although it was outlandish.

This, I cannot find anything nice to say about. I had something nice to say about commander tags being expensive as kitten. This, nada.

Not blind, just optimistic. That’s run out as far as this conversion goes. They didn’t even mention it was being worked on or whether there was a problem with silly players not being able to figure out what conversion rates were. This whole thing just comes across as “we need money now” thing. which, along with the comparatively nice and new gemstore releases when viewed alongside a halloween event near recycled in its entirety, doesn’t look very good.

What makes me more irritated is this whole stupid controversy could have been avoided by devoting that same effort to polishing the Halloween event at least a little. There was nothing wrong with the kitten conversion rate. They broke it for no reason.

Anet have revealed themselves to be the villains people like me warned you about.

I’m going back to single player games and mario kart until Star Citizen releases.

What value does your warning, even if it was heeded by some, have to do with anything that would stop this “villainy” from happening?

Tired of people going “Warned you guys” Like it means something to anybody but the person who gave the warning.

That being said, not happy about the gemstore “simplification.” It wont bother me too much, but its gating people that are grinding gold.

The point is to increase collective consumer intelligence, punish offenders like Anet by not supporting their game, and send a clear signal to other companies and future games that we’re not going to take it, no we’re not going to take it, anymore.

So that maybe next time, the next game I’m invested in, won’t make the same mistake.

Anet needs to be demolished for their arrogance. Corporate culture ruins everything.

I’d love to see an internal revolt by the devs and employees of Anet – Occupy Anet. That’s about the only thing that could turn this around.

That train of thought is lacking.

Anet pays the devs. you’re talking about getting people with wives and families laid off for the sake of your comfort, and assuming they’ll revolt against their employers for the sake of strangers they’ve never met; many of which, the metrics show, are children that cannot understand conversion rates.

Have some balance in your viewpoint where that is concerned. If you dont like something, dont support it monetarily. It isnt decent or even rational to say an entire company needs to go because they decided to squeeze a little harder for some profit than we thought was necessary.

Gee whiz.

This update has taught me one thing: There are a boatload of people that have no idea what “Pay to Win” means.

On topic: Honestly, I would never be able to afford any of these skins, so this is a great opportunity for me to collect these tickets and turn them in just by simply playing the game like I always do.

This. its a lottery but you do not have to pay to play or win. you just have the option of doing so if you do not want to chase down the candies yourself.

Like…say..if you have a job.

Full time job makes me not want to hunt candies at home. Granted ill grit my teeth and do it anyway, but it makes sense.

problem is people are going to “abuse their stupid money” and flood the raffle with tickets in some peoples minds, the idea of which I laugh at because That is no different with someone with nothing but time on his hands farming everything to death and flooding as well.

Why funny? These people clearly have a passion for the game or they wouldn’t even bother. I think it’s kind of sad… they want the game to go in a good direction and may even want to give anet money, which is why they stick around despite what are arguably terrible changes.

But that is just the thing. They aren’t sticking around. They are coming back as soon as there is a new big thing to hate. When there are no new things to hate on they are very quiet and you more or less never see them post anything at all. But as soon as something controversial turns up they start posting like mad.

Threads like these give players who quit a feeling of solidarity and a platform to voice their concerns which they feel are not being acknowledged.

All fine and good, except more than a few basically agree they left and aren’t coming back, so . . . why bother caring about solidarity or their concerns? They’ve admittedly already left and uninstalled. It’s not about whether or not they have a point, it’s about whether or not they show up just to stir up the pot for their own amusement.

dont worry about them.

There are people with genuine concerns, and then there are trolls that are desperate to feel right about something, so they come back to flaunt supposed correctness when it does absolutely nothing to help the situation, and would only expedite the situation if people listened to them in the first place.

Being right does not make your opinion not worthless. just saying.

Because “Anet are money hungry, dont buy from them” would not make them any less money hungry if people bought less.

Or did people buy 10 bucks worth of gems to trade 9 of them for 1 gold piece with alarming frequency?

I don’t think any company that I can think of has explicitly told their consumers that profit is the reason for that sort of system. It’s how companies, on the whole, operate.

Right, but anet has gone a step further — they’re trying to pass this off as new player experience , which seems far-fetched given the 75g minimum.

You expect companies to not mention the motivation, you don’t expect them to fib…

This. I try really hard to think there is good meaning behind most of these updates, but expecting a new player to have 75g when they have a notably intelligent economist on board is just hilarious.

There’s just no way, Anet.

First off let’s get two things straight here, this thing with the candy wrappers is a RAFFLE; which is similar to a lottery, however, it is not the same as gambling, by definition, which is why any organization can have a raffle, but gambling is only allowed where it is legal.

Yes it is considered gambling. Raffles are not legal everywhere.

I found this interesting. Note the bold:

You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.

If this is the case, why has the choice been taken out completely? You said it yourself, people did buy smaller increments of gems. People also bought larger numbers. I don’t understand why the choice was made to completely remove the option so we could buy as much or as little as you like.

This. instead of centering the game around what metrics deem the majority, you should make allowances for outlying cases if they exist at all, no matter how improbable they might seem.

The choice to omit 50, 100, or even 200g options from the conversion rate seems more willful than mandatory. I mean, you even have the space to add those rates on the ui. you could have just done it for the sake of balance.

but instead, there is a buy more gems button on the conversion table for people looking to trade gold for gems where a 50, 100, or 200 option could have gone.

I cant buy this, sorry.

Ha… buy. get it? Cause I literally can’t buy it.

It obviously is to cater to people who cannot put numbers in the conversion rate boxes and see what currency gets them what equivalent.

Noted, sometimes it was kind of aggravating to not be able to see “how many gems I would get for this amount of gold” and vice versa. That could have been addressed.

What is glaring me in the face is that players that want to exchange gold for gems now have to do it in sets of 400 which heavily gates them from obtaining something that, in the store, costs much less.

Want a key? Grind to 400.

Want a booster? grind to 400.

Want that silly phantom mask that came out that will be gone in two weeks? grind 75 gold or no dice bro.

I mean, they didnt even make any effort to hide it. They could have gone down to exchange rates for 100 and still gotten the same result. Obviously though, they have much more favor on people trading gems to gold. That’s just strikingly apparent now, so claims and arguments of “pay to win/gem shop focused” will have much more weight now.

interesting is, if the players that do exchange gold for gems slow down in buying them and the prices on that UI are influenced by the relative gem pile to the gold pile undergoing conversion, gem prices will go down as gold becomes harder and harder to trade for. This is assuming that those conversion rates are still community influenced though.

Could see gold inflation on the market from this if I’m not having a dunce moment.

Man i dont have enough time to farm like others do.
I gave 10 scraps to the skrit and it taked decates for me.
Now I speak to other guildies, who spend 10,20,50euro for these scraps.
Is it weird that Im feeling out of luck now?
Is this fair?

That is not how random chance works.

You can put in a single wrapper and still win while someone who put in 10 000 wrappers might not win.

But when I (sorry about my kittenty english) go mouse over the
‘’Shiny Foil Candy Wrapper Contribution’’ you see the discription and overthere
they’r saying stuff like:

The chances of receiving an item will depend on the total number of shiny
foil candy wrappers submidded.

What does this mean?

It’s talking about standard probability.

Your chance of winning will depend on how many wrappers the skritt gets.

for example.

If you are the only one who puts in wrappers, and you put in 10 out of 10 of them, your name is on all 10 of the wrappers and you have a 10/10 = 100% chance of winning.

if you put in 10, and your friend joe puts in 10, you have 10/20 = 50% chance of winning.

If you put in 10, joe puts in 10, and sarah puts in 10, you have a 10/30 = 33% chance of winning.

The more people put in wrappers, the smaller the chance that any one of your submitted wrapper wins becomes.

It is still a chance though. you can put in only one wrapper, while everyone else puts in 100 or so, and have a .04% chance of winning and still win.

Anything above 0 gives you a fighting chance. how much of a chance that is depends on how many people play.

Unless Anet is going a different route and changing prizes based on how many people play, and then outright delivering prizes to the people who submitted the most.

SUGGESTION: Healing Signet change

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

Healing Signet ticks for 362 every second, can be halved by poison since it has no controllable uptime, and has a low active heal. It does it’s job, but if anything it is too weak/has no better option.

You keep stating this misinformation. If your going to argue the mater, it would be helpful to know the actual facts. Poison does not halve and thing. It decreases the potency by 33%.

Much of the angst against HS seems to be stemming from some issue with the fact that warriors can facetank and still win.

I cannot speak for everyone else, but my problem with the signets effect have nothing to do face tanking, or whether or not you win or lose. It has to do with the fact that it is too strong of a passive, and no awareness to is required. Allowing for more offensive actions per second, that other professions do not have. It also offers a large boost to stances as utilities, because you passively heal while not taking he damage negated by those utilities. It allows more defensive actions by not needed to take an action to heal. As well it permits full focus on escaping, and requires no effort taken from that to heal either.

In rebuttal:

Concession on poison reduction. 33% is still a sizeable chunk to lose per tick while it is on you.

As I mentioned in the post, It seems very well that the playstyle you are describing, namely, allowing more offensive play because of less focus on managing HP pool, seems to be the precise focus and encouraged playstyle of the warrior class. Consider that Healing Surge, Mending, and Defiant stance all require active combat or incoming damage to do reliable healing. I call it “Facetanking”, because, as a warrior, dealing damage takes precedence over managing HP; but I think we are talking about the same thing. I have reached the conclusion that such a playstyle is unique and necessary for the warrior class though, and that should be upheld (That being said, such a playstyle also makes them very predictable, so I would not be against a modification that adds complexity. I am unsure Anet would get it right in a reasonable amount of time if they attempted, though.

As regards the Stances you are talking about, That’s 4 seconds of “no raw damage” and 8 seconds of “no condition damage”, both on a cooldown of a minute. That’s hardly a “large boost”, imo.

I’d also argue that awareness to the state of your HP pool is mandatory for any kind of heal that allows your hp pool to drop below full at any time.

HS is a double edged sword. It’s really strong against classes that deal small amounts of damage frequently, but weak against large amounts of damage infrequently.

So warriors now completely suck in all game modes. This despite being highly desirable in WvW zergs and capable of soloing dungeons. The last post is clearest really: if you want an OP FotM class, warrior is not the bandwagon you are looking for. Otherwise you’ll be fine and very effective.

I already stated that warriors are wanted for stacking the hell out of swiftness in WvW zergs especially, and since when does “being capable of soloing dungeons” actually matter? Literally all classes are capable of soloing most dungeons— even the necros. Sometimes there are certain bosses/encounters that certain classes particularly excel at (example, situations that call for reflects = guard/mes), but overall it’s pretty much always been this way.

Warrior is incredibly fluid and much easier to learn/survive with in most circumstances which is why most people tend to call it OP when the reality is that they’ve always had low-end DPS in groups, yet fairly nice solo DPS.

The difference nowadays versus previously is that not only is it low-end but it’s even further behind the other classes than before in groups and instead of having fairly decent solo DPS, it has noticeably bad solo DPS by comparison to before.

Hey, at least they’re easy to kill now, right?

Now, if we could only stop them from running away from a fight and cut their regen in half….

Totally agree

Unfair. You don’t have to buy anything with gems to be in pair with anyone else, GemStore is just about facilities and skins. Of course there has been too much content item-wise being released in GemStore, and if one likes itemization it’s a HUGE letdown, but it’s definitely not pay-to-win.

Did he say pay to win?

What are you getting at then?

All items in the gem store are available with gold, mind you.

Works vica-versa. All legendaries & other gold based items can be bought with gems too. The point is if you look at last year they clearly added more skins of any kind through their ingame store than to the actual game itself. Except back items .

That doesnt exclude them from gold purchase. it just trivializes payment for people who don’t want to grind for them.

and for the people that want to grind for them, they can do so doing any content they like instead of being forced into an aspect of the game they dont like just to get a prize they want from it.

It sure as hell isnt a new zone but you can definitely build a quest around it if you want to buy one.

If we had a more complex playstyle than “mow the kitten down, ch33f” , it probably wouldnt hurt a lot of player butts to lose to a player that essentially ate all of their damage for breakfast, grinned, and then proceeded to kick them down the street. But, seeing as how they -are- that simple, they -need- an anti melt mechanic that keeps them alive in fray so they can do what they do best. They have to eat damage to be effective. Gibbing their HS without considering another buff to their currently abysmal line of healing (none of their healing skills can be used effectively without combat apart from HS, btw) would reduce them to free bags.

If anything, they need a buff, community qq or not.

Hell, they’re already too watered down in high tier play because they’re predictable as hell as a class. I’d easily reroll a thief, mediguard, engie, or ele if I didn’t adore swinging a greatsword around. The problem here is with a stigma affixed to the Warrior that labels them as being too easy and too forgiving to play, when any complexity added to them that has a higher payoff would be immediately spurned by the community anyway. I’d love some complexity. I’d love being able to not have to eat damage and blink, teleport, stealth, passive fear to keep enemies at range except when I want them to be so I can whale on them. I’d love to be able to set up a “you will not enter here” line without having to use my HP as a buffer.

The community would not, though. Apparently the part that warriors need to get close to them with a “hit me” sign on their back like any standard mob AI is a good thing, but the fact that they wont melt in two hits like other mob AI is a bad thing and should be fixed immediately.

Because people will obviously continue to play warrior if they become DPS food. More than they already are, I mean.

SUGGESTION: Healing Signet change

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

Two things:

Just a re-post from the other healing signet thread.

Honestly, warrior has a now eternal stigma connected to them due to their admittedly overpowered stance early on in the game. Yes, they did horrendously outmatch every other class at some point early on. Is that still the case? No, far from it.

It’s quickly becoming a case of just wanting to make warriors free kills, while other classes desperately defend their newfound buffs.

I am tending to agree with this.

Part of the problem based on this, is that while others have to stop defending themselves or attacking to heal, warriors can skip this step. It is an unfair and unreasonable advantage.

This is not entirely the case. I’d like to point out why HS is balanced at the moment by focusing on the nature of the other class heals and some of their respective mechanics.

Elementalists have Signet of Restoration, which actively heals as much as Healing signet, but slightly less Healing signet’s tick every time they cast a spell. They also have an affinity dedicated to team and self healing, and traits that regenerate health while they are attuned to that affinity, in addition to being high DPS.

Thieves have Hide in Shadows and Signet of Malice. Signet of malice is similar in function to restoration, with the concession that it is much weaker. However, Thieves also have the ability to untarget themselves for long periods of time. Hide in shadows is a defense, as it cures three conditions and grants stealth.

Guardians have Selfless Daring, which heals on dodge roll, as well as Shelter, which is a block and a heal.

Rangers Have Troll Unguent, which is not defensive or passive at all. That being said, they can do major damage at ranges exceeding many other classes, and have moderate access to stealth and knockback to work around this. The cast time for Unguent is 1 second, heals for 10 seconds at 850HP, and has a 25 second cooldown. This is similar to Healing signet, barely. They gain regen for 10 seconds at a time, with 15 second periods of CD in between.

Necromancers have Signet of undeath, which essentially fuels their Death Shroud while in combat, as well as Consume conditions. At basal level, Consume Conditions heals moderately well. It also functions as a defense as it removes all conditions and grants health for each one consumed.

Engineers have A.E.D. which resets any down damage and removes conditions. it has 3/4 second cast time.

Also Healing Turret.

Mesmers have everything. Mantra of Recovery is instant after precast. Ether feast is a standard heal. Mirror is a block that reflects projectiles. Signet of the ether, with three illusions, both rivals healing signet in Heal uptime and has a much better active.

Healing Signet ticks for 362 every second, can be halved by poison since it has no controllable uptime, and has a low active heal. It does it’s job, but if anything it is too weak/has no better option.

Much of the angst against HS seems to be stemming from some issue with the fact that warriors can facetank and still win. That is essentially the focus of their class. They have very little mitigation, (unless you take offense to Berserker stance, at which point I have no words for you, holding off on condition loading for 6 seconds is hard?).
They have very little invul/evasion/blocks, very little protection against condi bombs, a lack of blinks, a lack of stealths and a lack of teleports/evasion apart from their dodges, which everyone gets anyway so that is not a class advantage (granted, if they specifically trait for it, they can dodge a little more frequently, but not as frequently as someone using signet of energy so that whole vigor setup leaves a lot to be desired.)
