I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
Warrior is so bad on pvp ,he have no chance on win vs elementalist, necromancer or mesmer, why u dont balance it ?
Time you get closer to them you have 0 hp and cant handle 1 hit.
PS: dont come here now telling im bad on pvp ecc, because im not.
U Fullzerker, Bro?
Use the 6/6/6/6 Double hammer Double bow build.
Sometimes you just fight things for flashy rather than for overall effectiveness. Why does an Ad need to use the meta for fighting a boss anyway? If someone wants to hack away at a giant with a sword, what’s the problem with that? It’s possible and reasonably effective with the right build.
What about the:
~Backpieces
~Weapons (mistforged, amberite, etc)
~World Boss
~Scarlet story arc which included several “world bosses”
~Stat prefix
~ New Runes
~New Zone
~New Dragon
~New Region Release in China
~New Tournaments?

Dear A-Net,
these days i can’t anywhere on youtube without getting your ad
in my face.Nothing wrong with it.
But how the heck can you present something that is borderline lying ?
I was witness to an epic movie battle between a player and a giant in Dry Top.
This guy was using shield and sword. How comes you advertise shield and sword battle when this combination is absolutely crippled to almost useless ???
I had a good chuckle at this. Sword/Shield isnt crippled at all.
@Azure The Heartless did you focus so much on the negative part of my statement that you missed the good. Ill quote myself: “why not copy and paste the good Halloween from 2012”. That particular piece of content in its entirity was good from start to finish. Lets bring it back instead.
Apologies. I am apparently growing negativity intolerant. I did notice it though.
I’d address it by saying much of the content but (not the skins) will be returning. We may not have the hilarity of Shadow of a MK, but at least we’ll have inquisition.
hopefully. They might make some changes to the events due to the changes in world topology, so right now its too early to like or dislike anything.
So is the blood and madness event going to be an exact copy and paste of last years Halloween minus the features. Cause we already got the features. If so, why not copy and paste the good Halloween from 2012 and not the crappy halloween from 2013? And dont bring up lions arch. No body cares about lions arch.
I think attitudes like this are why they are hesitant to tell us anything. We as a community cant even handle not calling dev work crappy every chance we get. No reason in telling us what they -hope- to do for us when there’s so much flak about what they actually get done.
On topic though. you didnt miss it. its going to be up briefly before season continuation.

A game does not have to be morally perfect. Otherwise it’s surreal.
-paragraph of caps-
Woah there, we can ‘hear’ you just fine without the wall of caps.
It would make no sense gutting the classes that were previously underpowered but suddenly became overpowered due to inclusion of a single stat combination. rebalance celestial for PVP and then we can work on fine tuning.

It’s impossible to kill a bunker engi, even 2vs1 its hard to kill them. I’m facing a bunker engi almost every game and they can’t die for real… NERF NOW A-NET!!!!
Do you mean impossible in general or impossible just for you?
All they need to do is remove the effectiveness of control spam for fall KOs. Then I’d play it.
Thief spotted
Yep, it sucks for you that those things counter you hard when you 1v1 an Engineer who’s in a defensive position.
Engineer is a great profession, but it dies in about ~5 seconds to a Thief/Necro, Mesmer/Thief, or Necro/Engi coordinated burst.
I don’t get how you think “Just DT it” is a reasonable remedy for “Engie is broken 1v1”. Mind explaining?
Because IMO an engie being able to completely decap a point passively by dropping turrets on it and letting them autotarget any nearby enemies isnt very balanced.

From what I understand, Riposte can also block all melee attacks for its duration, but only if you’re out of range for the counterattack. So if you face away or run away from the opponent while using Riposte, you’ll block everything.
Nope. if someone melees you while riposte is active, you will counterattack in the direction you are facing, regardless of whether or not you hit anything.
You cannot fail at Black Lion Chests.
You can only fail to get the item you personally want.
The first slot of the chest returns a random booster that is at or above the value of the gems you spent, so technically there is no -fail- state where you would receive ‘no’ item or an item that was ‘less’ than the value you paid.
It’s like paying for a grab bag. you dont know whats in it, but the price of the items is listed on the face of the bag. Whether or not you personally value the items as such… well, that’s up to you.
While I don’t think mesmer are op they do potentially bring a lot of DPs to the table and I am surprised there aren’t more complaints.
What’s a DP? I mean, the non-sexual meaning?
This made me laugh because that is the first thing I thought of when he said DP as well.
Maybe because it’s the mesmer and a phantasm giving it to him at the same time it kind of counts as DP?I meant dps idk why my phone auto corrected it making the d and p caps.
Your phone knows.
Saucy.
This is for plodding around a finite space, mind you. Its not like you actively do anything but run/jump to complete a map.
If we’re talking about rewards though, tequatl and wurm could use some nice precursor drop rate increases.
You’re forgetting the 303 hearts, map completion is insanely time consuming.
It also deserves to be well rewarded. We are not talking about a Dynamis event here that take from 5-30 minutes. Yes precursor drop rate should be increased.
True, karma hearts were forgotten.
Those could be rewarded individually with better things. Those who have completed the hearts could receive their prizes from an asura standing in divinity or w/e.
The difference between offhand sword and shiled block skill is that with sword you can block only one attack and with shield you can block all the enemy skills for 3 seconds.
That make the shield skill more good in defence than the sword block, because after the first skill you’re still vunlerable to enemy attacks.
But in PvE you don’t need defence, you need only huge dps and some stability and dodges. That’s why shield is used only in PvP.
This.
Shield recharge is higher because if you need to get out of a mosh pit of direct and ranged attacks, riposte will cancel on any direct hit you take and leave you exposed, whereas shield stance will give you full duration invul until you cancel it or it expires.
used properly, you can mitigate -a lot- of damage, if you are focused.
Huh. how about that.
And here I thought “entertaining cows” was the silliest thin- ahem.
I guess the NPE is kind of an adapter for people who come from different mmo playstyles and non-mmo backgrounds to get acclimated to the game without being choked on gallons of lore and new and what-is-this.
Glad it helped you guys. some of us who had gone through it already were pretty ticked off to find portions of it removed, but if it works; it works.
I’d rather new blood than old lore.
You know what.
After taking a look at Arche[redacted], Final[Redacted], and some other MMOs that have graced the scene, I always find myself drawn back here, even though there’s nothing significant to do that I haven’t done already (That also I want to do/ can find the party to do) because:
The art is gorgeous.
The music is gorge-ahem
The community in pve generally is sweet and kind (outside of dungeons/farms).
The PVP community is toxic but still accepting enough of valid beatdowns, unlike other places where people refuse to accept they lost much more often
The customer service ISNT !#@$% HUBRIS BROKEN
They deliver on content promises within a year (unlike another game when a promise has gone undelivered for longer even though it was promised 11 months ago.)
Instrument system is nice. (Violin would be neat.)
I’m bored, but its still entertaining to hang around here. Just wanted to note that for a dev/whoever would like to read. Gw2 isnt deep enough to keep me completely enthralled, but I can go do things without worrying about losing out on events running without me and then jump into WVW and join a train/TS like I haven’t missed a beat.
Not being completely enthralled is a good thing for me. In the terms of being a good, even a great game, GW2 hits the mark completely as far as I’m concerned, although I am not entirely sure why.
You guys are doing something right.

Tryptophobia. Google it. There. Now you have it.
I’ve got to learn to stop googling stuff. The pictures that showed up shudder. Now I can’t get them out of my mind.
Thank you dictionary for not being able to figure out what the hell that was.
crisis averted.

They want people to cave and just buy the keys outright, that’s why the keys go on sale every other week or so.
Just because it’s possible to get said keys for free for 20 mins work or so, doesn’t mean the actual obtaining of the item needs to be easy.
It’s a good business model actually.
@ Megaz, I agree. The perception of the game by an individual really affects how they treat this whole thing. For people that think that dungeons are just AA spam until done, they see no issue because they can AA as well, without giving attention to the fact that there might be people trying to run a dungeon a different way for entertainment.
@Swag, also a good point. There’s obviously some people that perfectly match the definition of “elitist” in the sense that they will only play with the “best performance group” they can get, only to end up wasting hours of time that could be spent doing the dungeon repeatedly in the hopes that they can cobble such group out of passers by. Still, I’m careful with throwing that term around. Rarely do I find genuine elitists in this game. I find dedicated people, people that like to push themselves to complete a dungeon as fast as possbible, and also people that help beginners and do things with very laid back attitudes.
It’s hard for me to make a big deal out of this, honestly. You cant force people to play with players they don’t want to play with, and you cannot force people to not attempt to join you, so is it so hard to just deal with these situations as they come?
Most of the dungeon runners I’ve run with that are concerned for speed can actively sniff out low DPS without even pinging gear. And even those players just patch it by saying “X, take banner for speed” or switch their own loadout to balance the drop they perceive. A visible meter, imo, wont do anything to change the attitudes of people that even care to use it, and those players will still get, and in some cases need to allow, the players that do not meet their output specifications.

No one class should be able to dominate several other classes in a game that values balance , in the majority of common settings.
You must tell this to thieves.
They will answer it is in class designBut I totally agree with you.
Thieves have problems with [properly built] guardians, (decent)warriors, engies, rangers, and in some cases elementalists. They are almost guaranteed to eat unsuspecting members. Necros are a toss up.
The only other classes that I’d even begin to compare to being as insurmountable as ele are T. Engie and MM necro, and those are affected by pulls and control, respectively.
C-Ele is a juggernaut. A light armored juggernaut with AOE and CC. They may take some time to master, but mastering a class should still leave you with weaknesses inherent to that class, IMO.
As an aside, funny how people thought the cele buff was insignificant until these ridiculous builds started popping up. Like balanced stats weren’t going to make this happen.
Also, since Cele is not focused significantly on any one stat, Eles that use it, to me, are just a real hassle to fight. Duels with them take upwards of/ around15 minutes, and are mostly lost/won due to people being unable to perfectly rotate that long/getting launched/stunned inconveniently. They don’t do that much damage, but they’ll melt you eventually if your rotations are not perfect and you do not intercept their heals.
I assume they are an issue for full zerk/non bunker builds.
-snip-
I don’t really have a preference for this either way, but if group A is asking for a specific type of armor for whatever reason, be that efficiency, elitism, or generation of test data/time attack data, and you join without meeting that criteria even though it is not disallowed by the system or by the players through ping checks, it -is- a moral failing on your part, by joining that group knowing that you didn’t have what they were asking for. You assumed that completion of the content was the ultimate goal, but it could easily have been for another reason (like acquiring test data) that your build could have affected more fully.
The reason they created that group didn’t matter. The fact they had a reason should have been enough,
Imo.
You can’t just assume that you know what people want. That’s no better a view than the “elitists” you’re talking about. I really don’t care too much about this disparity between dungeon runners, but at the very least you can show some courtesy and abide by the rules of the dungeon you join, or just dont if that is too hard to do. the game is starved for normal runs.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
I have galeophobia.
Because of it I avoid Orr waters pretty much completely.
This seems like a good idea, but I’d rather just work on trying to get over it instead of asking for a potion so I dont have to deal.
>Mesmer, ele and guardian
>“hard” professions
Neat.
Warrior isn’t ‘fun’ anymore. It used to be fun but now it’s for people that like playing the game on hard mode because the damage it puts out is easily surpassed by the majority of the other classes with significantly more risk attached.
If you enjoy challenges, you will find it fun.
Use the skins on a weapon type you can share. like GS.
I’d say fighting D/D elementalist 1v1 in sPvP is a mistake in almost all situations. Why would you do that??
The moment a class has a significant and clear advantage over most other classes in a 1v1 setting, it is overpowered.
No one class should be able to dominate several other classes in a game that values balance , in the majority of common settings.
seems that as of the last few months and even with the patch recently, the numbers i see in hotjoin and the que times i have are so much worse. there are like 100 people in hotjoin sometimes, let alone my stupidly long ques for solo que. 400 people watching tol 2 a month or so ago? ded game? whats going on gais.
Game isnt dead.
the players that want to try out pvp are by and large being scared off by general intolerance/stupidity and are in wvw/karmatrain/pve.
PVP is choking on its own toxicity.
How long are you going to keep the thief class hard countering every other zerker spec in the game. Thief hard counters shatter mesmer, zerker ranger, zerker s/d ele etc. Do think this is fair?? Not only that, they always get the opening cause of their ability to stealth on demand. When they’re losing they can reset the fight and come back and burst you down when all your cd are on recharge. Their steal abilities are seriously op, consume plasma 5 seconds of god mode. How much longer does the balance team needs to realize this? This is why we have so many bunkers in the game.
Here’s a better question.
How do you expect to not die to something you can’t see sneaking up on you when you’re made of glass?
If you are a light armor class and you take no toughness/defense, you are accepting that the reward of the power you get from doing so outweighs the risk that youll blow up if a thief sees you first. do you want to not blow up with no toughness?
And they’re nerfed right now, besides.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
It isnt quite meta yet. The recent buff they got hardly made them overpowered, but it invited a playstyle where camping is heavily rewarded with little risk/effort. So everyone is doing that.
Rarely do you find a ranger that is a decent fighter among them though.
an 8+ man against crippled Zhaitan
What is this blissful sensation I’m feeling-
I use Up Down Left Right, and Q E for strafe.
When I need to aim or adjust camera, I switch movement keys to WASD.
If you cannot harass far long enough for your 1v1 to request backup you should stop going far.
At that point you have become a liability to your team.
If you can harass far (Or better yet are a turret engie) Go nuts, but keep an eye on where your teammates are. if they are doing poorly, regroup at wherever they are. if they wipe, fall back and meet them at home/mid.
I’m not dissatisfied with the game in the slightest.
I’m dissatisfied with the responses the development team is making to customer and player tester feedback.
I’ve gotten my money’s worth of entertainment. I couldn’t ask for more. I’d be willing to pay for an expansion though.
In Guild Wars:
“Since the May 26, 2010 update, Dhuum appears in-game whenever an account is suspended or terminated and kills the character using either Impending Dhuum or Vengeance is Ours.”
-wiki
Grenth usurped him.
And is apparently not an account termination tool , but rather seems to have taken an interest in run of the mill finishers.
My good sir.
If you missed my implication.
Warrior is more balanced with other classes. Every class is actually supposed to beat every other class. Your just used to being over powered. So after you get a deserved nerf and quit…..please just go. But of course you need one last qq
Can you explain to me how Warrior is more balanced now, since the problem build has been pretty much untouched and most of the warriors -not- running that build are now struggling to fight anything else?
I’d like to see your rationale for this claim apart from “qq you deserved it shut up”.
Same here bro.. I have said this in other threads. The good warriors are even better now after this patch.
Great logic there you are using. Let us make strong even stronger and crap even crapier.
I think he’s saying that, for example, before he could kill Profession A in 10sec. After nerf, he could kill Profession A in 8sec. Doesn’t that make him way stronger?
Only odd thing is….I didn’t see a buff that made that possible, unless…the person using Profession A somehow died to a whirling axe use which got a buff…
Somehow people who post “the nerf only made me, the good warrior better, and the bad warriors crappier” somehow don’t seem to understand that with a nerf, you became weaker, and without a buff, you are still weaker. So how are you able to get stronger? Unless you are killing other warriors who in your terms are “crappier than you”…
I guess for one using the favoured hammer/bow builds already, and no or fewer traits/abilities dependent on or benefitting from adrenaline, might feel stronger relative to warriors who reallllly don’t want to be stuck to hammer/bow or who enjoyed builds more related to the core warrior mechanic (adrenaline) before it was gutted? That is the only logic I can make out of statements suggesting ‘weeee my warrior got stronger because all you others suck’. Or maybe some feel relief at not having as many people raging against warriors? Not sure… I can surely say my warrior feels far less fun with the new nearly insta-vanishing adrenaline system
Or he’s trolling since nothing on Warrior was buffed on Sept 9 update except F1 on Greatsword (oh wait, where’s that Adrenaline?). Whirling Axe also had a “bug fix” so it was a wash (Thief stolen weapon from Warrior is now way better…surprise!).
EDIT: Trolling = use of “na bro”
Not trolling, (un)fortunately.
I got AOE access to permanent Fury Uptime since I started using GS on point, without having to [Redacted. Something about never touching a Signet here. ]
Lightning bruiser bunker, was bunker before.
The adrenaline is now on [Redacted – Insert the only weapon that actually builds adren quickly here]
Not that the changes didn’t cripple warriors. Just not all of them, my playstyle has barely changed.
For those that depended on management of adrenaline-reliant traits for their damage output, I’m angry for them, because Anet blindly gutted the class mechanic, the blame for which I place on people whining about how Warrior was too strong. It could easily be Anet’s decision to simply make gameplay harder for us, but that makes little sense, otherwise they would have touched hambow.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
I can’t get past the fact that the OP seems to be implying that anything that is easy for him to down is balanced, and everything that has even a miniscule amount of annoyance makes him view the class negatively.
It’s par for the course though.
It appears that Really good Mesmer was not so farfetched.
Stability would have saved you still.
I get this sometimes.
Switch back to your armor skin before logging out or porting to keep the colors where they are.
There’s some armor dye glitches. Namely, that one, and the fact that braham’s armor top cannot be dyed without skinning to ANOTHER armor, coloring that one, and skinning back.
If someone on my followers list is being annoying, they do not get any special treatment. I treat them exactly as I treat someone being annoying out of the blue. block.
Yep. It’s a good game, what we have currently is well built, and as a “buy once, play forever” model it’s pretty akin to a stand-alone game. It may not update as fast as some of us want, but what we have at the moment is more than enough to entice players and entertain them for a couple of years. by the time they get bored, others will take their place, while they quit.
It may not be the most entertaining, but having a semi-boring endgame and an interesting playthrough might be keeping their server costs manageable.
small notice trought ranger has no access to an instant cast stability as both signet of the wild and RAO require a channeling time :P
The OP is a guardian.
Just an aside, I’m finding it funny how on one side of the “lets nerf warriors” bandwagon, players want to nerf Greatsword mobility because it is “unrealistic” for heavily geared player characters, but on the other hand being smacked in the stomach by an iron hammer and getting (not a full, mind you) weakness uptime, while realistic, is also an issue.
I dont even care about protecting warrior from nerfing anymore. I have no opinion on this apart from the above; let Anet do what they please.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
~Complains~
i hate the style of mesmers and im absolutely not going to spend my time playing one lol.
At the very least you should take the time to understand what you are complaining about before you make wild assumptions about why you didn’t use stability I mean, why mesmers are overpowered.
whether you are for or against them, refusing to be properly informed/experience your problem from the other end cripples any fleeting credibility you may have had, to be completely honest.
This tired old photo again.
Charrbecue. I’m really proud of how she came out.
(this is old, will update maybe.)
Here’s a thought.
what makes the troll posters think that the warriors they complained into oblivion won’t do the same to their class?
At some point, people will have to learn to leave what they think is a strong point of a class alone so that the players of that class wont take apart their strong points.
The more they push, the more backlash they put on themselves. Warriors are pretty close to a free kill right now. all it would take is a signet nerf and then they’d be unplayable competitively. Then, Warriors would either reroll to a different class, drawing attention to it, or bemoan the op portions of other classes outright.
I enjoy a challenge, but I’m not going to play a training dummy because X player cannot deal with weakness or y player thinks 360 HP a second is when their auto attacks do twice that on normal hits.
And I’ll be honest. I certainly wasn’t looking too hard at Ranger/Mesmer/Thief/Engie utilities before my class got “fixed”.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
Mantra 1 second
Chaos storm 1 second and may stun multiple time
Shatter about 1 to 2 second depending on interval between the illusion shatter
Finish the job with the GS push and in theory you got your fifth second and all this time youve prety much been unable to heal
Chaos storm is a Daze. you can still move.
A push is a push. not a stun.
…Stability?
Redacted, it’s been said.
Is there some overlap between “leechers” being “people who do nothing at all to help in the dungeon” and “leechers” being “people who are trying their hardest but not outputting as much DPS as one would consider optimal?”
You can identify the former without a meter.
They’re the same thing result wise. Nobody cares exactly why they’re not doing their job. It could be because they don’t care or don’t know how to – but the end result is a slower sloppier run.
Well, okay. If you wanna lump honest effort in with apathy.
I think people should be allowed to set a standard on their runs. Having a meter or not won’t exactly change the attitudes of people players might not want to play with anyway, so, w/e.
Thieves 2 OP, need 100% uptime reveal if you hit them while invisible.
