Your best option would be to join an RP guild and get some sessions running with them
Your idea doesn’t sound that dissimilar to WvW. Have your guild claim a keep, and protect it while you upgrade it. Organise GvG with other guilds on the open fields.
I’m a GW1 player, but didn’t feel GvG was that big a thing. Compared to Heroes Ascent which seemed to get a lot more attention with the game wide announcements when teams and guilds (and regions when GW1 first started) won.
Game lacks a lot,and that proves 4.900.000 players lose since release.
Game had 8 mil subs at the release(at least they said so,but i am sure they lied)
Game has 3,1 mil players now.
In 3 years,losing 5 mil players,clearly yells TIME FOR A CHANGE.
You’re mixing your stats up with a other MMO that shall not be named. GW2 has 0 subs, and always has. Unless you mean they sold 8mil copies of the game, but then refunded 5mil copies of the game?
If you’re concerned about kids going without for Christmas, there are far more constructive things to give them, and charity’s to donate to help children in need.
This thread is going to go no where because you’re going on more about your beef with F2P restrictions, under the guise that you care about gifts fot children in need. And anyone that disagree’s with your point of view, even politely is considered a troll or flaming by you, very self righteous.
To add on to my previous post, if you think £35/$50 is expensive, go look at any other newly released games by a large studio. The Witcher 3, Cod: Black Ops 3, GTA V, Assassins Creed: Syndicate, to name a few. These are all extortionately more expensive than what HoT is selling for on day 1. And then you’ve got their Season Passes and DLC added onto that already high price tag!
Anet isn’t an Indie studio, like some players might be used to when purchasing their Steam games.

I disliked Season 1, temporary content is an absolute waste of production time when that same time could be used implementing permanent content everyone can enjoy. Also found the story in Season 1 to be poorly portrayed at the start. They are doing something new, and it showed. It did get better toward the end of Season 1.
People are under this misconception that if the base game wasn’t included, it’d be cheaper. The reality is, if it was the expansion on its own, the price would be exactly the same!
Them including the base game in this expansion and future expansions is a big plus to encourage new players to continually join the game and bolster the community. Rather than new players having to fork out for the base game + all expansions to have a chance of keeping up.
For the veteran’s, we pay £35/$50 every 3 years? Play most subscription based MMO’s for 3-4 months (not including base price to start your subscription), and you’ve paid for GW2 + HoT.

I doubt they’d discount gem’s, purely due to the damage it would inflict on the gem/gold exchange rate.
I’d rather not have to purchase Coca Cola and Mountain Dew bottles in place of my usual food/utility buffs :P
Half-way solution, don’t have the guild invest resources for Scribe into a single person. While inconvenient if you’re looking to get access to high level Scribe stuff, there’s less collateral if they decide to up and leave the guild.
I’d personally dislike a change like this. I tend to keep a couple sets of armour on me so that I can switch stats conveniently, and then each weapon type the profession can use. Trying to cram all of these from different characters into a single account bound inventory would be crippling.
Guild Promoters were removed when HoT and the new Guild Upgrades system was introduced. Influence, which you could purchase from the promoter is no longer a resource that can be obtained.
Guilds that still do have influence left over from pre-HoT, are able to use it to boost Aetherium production and exchange for favor.

There’s going to be Legendary armor, if that’s your kind of thing. Same stat level as ascended though.
Nope

I hope they don’t change it. There’s no sense in removing achievements from more difficult activities. Too many players feel they’re entitled to these rewards for having simply paid for the game.
They haven’t released the patch earlier than what they usually have in the past. Let the hyperbole begin!
The enormous amount of effort that would be required to completely rewrite the code to support DX12, with absolutely no financial reimbursement from the community or anyone else is ludicrous, and a bad business decision.
No one is going to buy more black lion keys as a result, and I haven’t seen a single thread from a player starting this is why their friend or dog isn’t buying the game.
Gear depends on what you’re looking to do. If you want to actively do WvW and PvE, you’ll likely find obtaining multiple sets of armour to be most beneficial. Unless anything has changed recently, most people prefer you to player with Berserker stats in Fractals. And then something more tanky in WvW, PVT or Knight’s (I think).
Unless you’re looking to do higher level fractals, there’s no necessity to work toward Ascended gear. But you might come across some groups in the game that make ascended gear a requirement to join them. Usually in raids, but since you don’t have HoT, this isn’t an issue you’ll run into often.
P.S If you’re looking to play a more condition orientated build, Sinister gear would work. You won’t have access to Viper gear stats (the other preferred condition stats) without HoT.
Don’t get posts like yours over on Reddit for starters, Kraggy
Nah, the biggest backlash I ever saw from the community toward Anet was when they first changed the gem conversion from convert however much you wanted to convert only in fixed amounts that Anet let you.
DH is a gimmick. I tend to run condi Necro, spam conditions on the DH from a distance, watch the guy melt because DH has awful condi removal.
Can’t take you seriously saying you ‘play on a pro level’ when you can’t overcome such a cheesy build.
I’m quite happy with the visual nerf’s, I can actually have a chance of seeing the AoE circles on the floor now. Stop being so melodramatic. ‘your customers who keep your raft afloat’, I just lol’d
Probably because there’s far more toxicity on the official forums
You need to progress to the Tangled Depths map I believe.
Materials are worth more now than they have in a long time, and I’ve been making a lot more money as a result of selling my materials.
Hypothetically speaking, it depends on the background. To set a bar, let’s assume it was completely out of the blue with no prior explanation. No it wouldn’t result in an instant kick from the community.
We operate a 100% rep rule, but we don’t ‘rule with an iron fist’. There’s a process to everything, and each case is dealt with on a very individual basis. As a rule, if someone isn’t representing for a day, we don’t hassle them. If it becomes an ongoing thing, 2-3 days, irregardless of whether someone had been with us for 8 years, or 8 weeks, we always approach for contact to find out if everything is OK.
Most of the time, it’s a case of them forgetting to rep after creating a new character, or switching back from their bank guild.
In other scenarios, it isn’t unheard of that someone would like to take a break from the community. 8 years is a long time after all. Although in all cases that have occurred, they notify us ahead of time, rather than suddenly not representing. It’s a mutual respect thing.
If someone does then need to have a break, and there isn’t any background to it, we part ways on good terms and leave an open door policy if they wish to return later on down the line. Where many have returned eventually.
No drama, no complications.
One of the great things about there being so many guilds is that there’s a guild for everyone. I’ve been the Leader of my community guild for over 10 years now. We started back in GW1, where joining multiple guilds was never an option anyway. And this always worked for us.
With the introduction of GW2 and it’s multi-guild system, there was no need for us to reinvent the wheel, don’t fix it if it isn’t broken for us, so we never fully adopted the multi-guild system.
There’s clearly a lot of people here who are members of multiple guilds (or want to be), and that benefits them the most when wanting to cover all the area’s of play they want to, and might not be able to achieve with a single guild.
Our’s is much more community based, nearly 60 members. We know each other on a first name basis, drama is always at an absolute minimum, and we recruit people very infrequently because we have a really low player turnaround. We’ve also started doing real life meet ups.
To foster that kind of community, people need to be super involved, enthusiastic and dedicated. Fair weather players with one foot in, one foot out, I simply don’t want to waste my time with because they’re damaging to our community. We do our absolute best in ensuring everyone is treated as a person, and not a number.
You’ve got to remember that people multi-guild for different reasons. Some just want to be in multiple guilds because they enjoy being with multiple communities, some do it to cover all of the game-modes they want to play for all good intentions, and others may simply have commitment issues. It’s all well and good people in this thread saying “if you need to force your members to rep, you’re a bad guild”. If you’re someone with commitment issues, you’re a bad player for my community. Sometimes no matter how good a guild you are, some people just want to be in multiple guilds because they prefer that. We clearly mention our rep requirements in our application form, so why would someone who is so against those requirements apply to us in the first place? The idea of advertising it in the recruitment form is so that we only get applications from people who share our mentality.
We wouldn’t have achieved our 10th year anniversary, started real life meet ups, or know each other as well as we do if we followed what a lot of people in this thread are suggesting. So no, the 100% rep isn’t going to die out.

If you activate the action camera, it forces skills to be aimed or grounds targeted.
I haven’t done all of the adventures yet, but I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve completed in Verdent Brink so far. Don’t even care about the mastery points, as long as you have level 1-2 in most of the masteries, you can finish the game.
Masteries that do what in PvP?
Such an artificial and thoughtless way of increasing the difficulty of a raid. If the timer is still shortened by 2 minutes, and you’re completing it with 3 minutes remaining, this doesn’t do a single thing to make things more difficult for yourself.
If I recall correctly, it’s because there was a duping bug early on in the game. They closed off the Guild Bank for a while until they got the issue resolved.
The only DC’s I’ve experienced are when everyone else gets DC’d as well. Which hasn’t happened for a long time. As educated in networking as you sound, it’s safe to say that if no one else suffers the same connection problem as you, it’s something either on your network or something on the way to Anet’s servers.
Idea: Raid design to mimick Fractal design
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

They are accessible to all who purchased HoT, there are no gear requirements to enter a raid. Your capability to finish a raid with masterwork tier gear will affect your chances of success though.
Historically, raids SHOULD be difficult. I’m a casual player by nature, but enjoy there being something I might not be able to attain without a lot of practice in the long run.
Just continue with fractals if level tiered dungeons are your ideal method of play.
Then change your guilds preference to PvE Missions, so you only get them.
Check the dev tracker, there has been plenty of communication from them. Particularly in recent months.
Which Guild Hall do you have?
I got an ascended chest from fractals for the first time last week
I agree with this idea.
dear anet, pls b considerate to casual players
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

You don’t need ascended for anything but high level fractals. If you’re casual like you say you are, exotic tier stats are more than sufficient for you to enjoy the game.
Partly depends on how many slots you have unlocked. We’re now a level 20 guild, so only have 2 mission slots locked for levels 30 & 40.
I know we have at least 1 PvP choice, but a total of 4 PvE choices, excluding the PvE specific mission slot. Looks like everyone is getting a lot of PvE this week of they’ve chosen no preference
I have juggernaut on my Revenant. I get the same skill animations on him (they look awesome btw) as I do on my other professions that use hammer.
I don’t understand this thread.
This thread is nothing more than an uneducated opinion. Has not purchased the expansion, but comments as if he has experienced the content hands on.
Pure speculation at best. Economy is fine, massive transformation due to loads of new items being introduced. Free accounts can’t be used unless they set up 2 step authentication on their mobile phones! They can’t just use a dummy E-mail and spam accounts so easily. They’re also incredibly restricted in what they can do. Once again, you’re trying to state things as fact, when they’re merely uneducated speculation.

You can get different bags that filter rarity and trash loot into them. But not the ones you’re specifically referring to though.
From Guild Leader to Guild Beggar in HoT flat

I’ve had the opposite experience with my community, we’re 50 players in total, but as the Guild Leader, I haven’t had to beg for donations. On the contrary I’ve enforced players only donate what they wish, and have ruled out people pressuring others into donating anything they consider unreasonable.
Materials have come in plenty, and of free will. Our main bottleneck is Aetherium
No single shoe size fits all however. I hope some of the similar sized guilds find a way to overcome the materials challenge for upgrades with their communities!
I’m going to leave this here…

Given that the cost for a fully upgraded Hall is about 19.5k, it’d take 39 consecutive weeks for a buyer to buy that Hall with the 500g a week limit
I thought there was only a limit on withdrawals and not deposits.
Includes the amount someone can send/deposit as well. Given the amount of money that needs to be put into a hall, if you’re looking to make a profit, you’re better off flipping the TP or farming something else. Selling a bare-bones Guild Hall for much less money is viable I suppose
Given that the cost for a fully upgraded Hall is about 19.5k, it’d take 39 consecutive weeks for a buyer to buy that Hall with the 500g a week limit
This is still an ongoing and consistent problem for me
