Ehh, the only forum threads I’ve made are my 2 videos and one asking about Cleric Armor for minion master.
I didn’t notice anything really insulting of other posters in those threads.
I do agree with the angry vitrol mocking developers though, cause thats what i intended with the movies, to Mock the developers.
You weren’t insulting towards other poster’s. You were dismissive :P, which ticked me off because it meant you weren’t looking for advice or help you just wanted to mock.
Now I am fine with mocking videos. In fact, I had a player contact me about doing a series of humorous looks at the Necro. I came back to him with the idea of doing a sarcastic mocking satire of all the Necro tutorials except featuring all the bad traits and play style choices that we get or are given.
It’s when it becomes an angry mocking tone and then posted as representative and educational, when it’s setup perfectly to fail with no desire to change it. That’s what I was upset about.
If you had made the post as a “Humorous take on Minions in WvWvW” Everyone would have laughed and went yep, those are the minions, but yours was definitely not produced in that manner.
He’s not censoring me, If I didn’t respect him I’d simply ignore his comments, But since he’s played the class longer then me its only respectful that I honor his wishes of not hurting the Developers feelings with Movies that I make in regards to the Necromancer (However I reserve the right to bash the living hell out of the Developers concerning Rangers).
I even tried to get you to be the Ranger podcaster :P. When it comes to Rangers, I feel so badly for you guys. No one can see more pathing issues and ridiculous utilities than the Ranger. It is the main reason mine is still lvl 22 :P.
When you have an entire profession that relies on clean pathing, and ai response timing and pets that cannot avoid damage and have no ability to reduce the amount of aoe damage they take, you have a class that has a chance to be either op or up.
C’mon Bas…people are allowed to express themselves and I certainly don’t think any other poster should be trying to censor that expression….whether it ruffles the feathers or not.
The devs have to know how their player base is really feeling…not some filtered “we mustn’t upset their sensibilities” version. It is just this sort of cow-towing to devs that gives them the “approval” to keep treating player’s views as an “irritation”.
AND we should not be “punished” by the devs by keeping us out in the cold just for expressing disappointments in their implementation of the game.
I do agree that the necro forum has calmed down of late and that those you mentioned have significantly contributed to that BUT I don’t see any change in THEIR forum behaviour of late (how many posts compared to the other professions) nor any indication that player views are even significantly registering with them.
Personal opinion…I have always been a strong advocate for expressing genuine views.
Genuine views are fine. Ridiculing someone or something with the claim that you are trying to help is not genuine. Rennoko and CHIPs regularly post their outrage on a topic with well-thought out intelligent rants designed to expose and issue that also shows a way to fix it.
Dredlord regularly dropkicks me about minions with his usual humor. I have debated with countless players over the past few months about minions, and I am fine with an honest and open debate about it. If you watched his videos, than you would see no desire for a debate simple a snarky ridicule of the mechanics with no attempt to benefit.
Now if he had done a humorous look at minions, I would be fine, there are many funny videos that people posted that greatly point out the brutal responses of Flesh Golem, Shadow Fiend, and Bone Minions and I have always been fine even when I disagreed. This wasn’t even an attempt at humor and that was what upset me.
I like Xsorus. I highly respect his ranger play, but his past few forum threads and posts have been nothing but angry vitrol designed at ridiculing and mocking on a class he has a more limited experience with.
Atroll! I fully support your recent posts. You have come from a Mighty Troll to a great wealth of posts that are full of Let’s do this.
I would love to take part, but my schedule does not give me anytime to participate. What I would love to do is promote your push with SOACGaming! We can feature you on our website/youtube.
Anything that promotes intelligent and positive looks at class synergy we can get behind.
SOACGaming is setting up a twitch.tv stream, and when you guys are ready to go. We can talk about streaming you guys :P.
You’ve seem to taken that little comment a little more harshly than I intended.
But if you don’t want me to make any more movies on the Necro I won’t, Lord knows i don’t want to offend the developers that have been posting so much on the Necromancer forums and working with you to fix your bugs with the class you’ve played so much.
I was simply responding to the last few threads you ahve made that have done nothing but ridicule and mock minions along with very dismissive of other players attempts to help you.
We have talked before, and you know I respect your opinion on a lot of things. I wholeheartedly agree that as of right now, minions are horrible for wvwvw. They are decent in tournament play, and strong in dungeons.
I respect your opinion, just not the way you go about expressing it. There is no way a dev would take a video like yours seriously. There was no education behind it, no desire to help improve, nothing but mocking and ridicule. I have never found in any form of work for that to ever make someone notice issues. It only makes it worse.
If your videos were instructional with notes to the devs on ways to fix the pathing issues instead of cries of LOOK AT HOW BAD YOU A JOB YOU DID YOU NITWITS. There is a huge difference between exposing an issue with a desire to fix it, and exposing an issue with a desire to humiliate and ridicule anyone who disagrees with you.
Still need more signups – and it would be cool if we could get a few guys who want to try shoutcasting it.
We’ve gotten more fixes and upgrades in the past month or two than we have the entire life of the game. We’ve still got a very long way to go, but we’re in a much better place now. If you’re planning on waiting for every tiny kink to be worked out to the point they never have to balance necro again…yeah just go ahead and uninstall, cause it’s not going to happen. If ever there were a time to start jumping back into it, I’d say now is it. It’s gonna take you at least until next patches to dust off the cobwebs lol.
This right here, and currently we are one of the strongest tournament classes not named ele (who saw a nerf), Ranger (rarely played well). Guardians are not stronger, and Engineers are gimmicky. So currently we are better than Thieves, Warriors, and Mesmers, and in the same spot as Guardians and Engineers.
I noticed some people kept saying that Bone Fiend was always attacked cause it did the most DPS, I disagree, It just happens to be the only pet that’s actually attacking the target
This is incorrect, and easily tested and proven to be false. It hits the hardest out of the standard minions it also has the highest toughness and lowest health from what has been seen.
Your experiences in wvwvw, which is notorious for just about every single pathing ability in the game. If you don’t believe it look for videos of ele’s RTLing in single spots in WvWvW. Watch some of the pathing skills miss completely even though there is nothing visible between you and the target.
Giving examples of worst case scenarios is easy. If I wanted to paint the Minions as perfect I would use only single target attacks and play in the mists. I didn’t i took them into an open world environment and ran them through a gamut of tests.
WvWvW is notorious for pathing issues, bugged events, and in general having abilities operate completely differently than they do in every other facet of the game. I know you value your opinion with your less than 100 hours of active Minonmaster gameplay, but for those of us who have put in close to 1000 hours playing 80 percent of the time of a MM please stop posting your opinions in a biased arrogrant like attitude.
You only serve to further push the Necromancer away from being listened to as a class. Your ridiculous videos are nothing more than a detriment to a community that has come a long way in a short time. Videos and opinions phrased in the way are the reason that the devs avoided the Necromancer forums until recently. Please don’t try to bring back the past method of doing things when Rennoko, Kravick, Myself, Bhawb, Nay, Nemesis, and many others (Maybe even dredlord) have tried so hard to keep presenting things in a rational and positive manner.
I think most of our weapons are fine though, i think that some of them just need some bug fixes cough longbow attack speed cough cough and then we’d be in really good shape.
Because seriously, what weapon do we have that’s -bad-? None, longbows auto attack needs love sure, but it’s still a heavily used weapon (for the utility granted).
LB is pretty useless in Dungeons :P. The lack of an space makes it perhaps the lease effective damage weapon we have in dungeons. In wvwvw it’s pretty awesome! In tournament play it’s solely used as a utility and even then only with specific setups.
This is an excellent update for us, especially with the signets and pet stats/skills/ai changes. The only ‘nerf’ with S&R is pretty well justified too.
Spirits still seem a bit on the neglected side with no ICD changes, but I’ll give them a test around various places to see how the hp/proc% buffs play out.
Frost spirit has no CD
This is why I tried to get Chopps as the Ranger Podcaster :P. Now if I can just find a way to get him to do some ranger related events :P>
Does anyone use Guard giving a shorter cooldown doesn’t make it useful? Who really needs to use guard every 15 seconds?
Sic ’em the only good shout should be 15 seconds, 40 seconds for a shout that the signet is better than anyways.
Guard gives 10 seconds of protection to your pet, which is affected by the ranger’s boon duration. The reduced cool down is a huge improvement for pets inside dungeons.
Sic’em coupled with the jaguar is a devastating combo in PvP. Along with the Pet’s Prowess trait I’ve had that cat crit 7800+ against squishy targets, so a 15 second cool down would be pretty OP. A 40 second untraited cool down is great and this patch is a huge buff to BM rangers.
I didn’t even think about using Guard in dungeons, hmmm, that should make it interesting. I find sic em to be underwelming since you can essentially get a better utility with a shorter CD. 40 seconds is much nicer than the previous one, but it’s not enough to make me drop a signet or survival utility for it.
will there be plans to try and get engis together again?
We are putting plans in place to host another event. Our goal is to do it once a month. I need to sit down and work out with some of our players when to do the next one.
Sittingonacouch.com is looking to continue to expand it’s already awesome selection of Guild Wars 2 podcasts. We are looking for contributors on every level from guide writers, video editors, podcasters, and video ideas. We host several amazing podcasts currently. But of Corpse, Consecrated, Arrow to the Knee, Mesmerized, EU Tournament Update, NA Tournament update, and soon the Weekly Team Spotlight.
Currently we are working on our profession specific podcasts, and in that vein we are looking for a player who mains or loves to main their Engineer. You may not have all the knowledge or all the skills, but if you love to talk about the class and want to help players find the right information than you may be the man or woman for the job.
One of the keys to a good podcaster is being able to get your guests to really talk about the class.
The Engineer focused podcast is going to cover all facets of the game, and while the hosts doesn’t have to be an expert. He must have a general knowledge of the class and skills and be able to convey his point well while allowing others to cover some of the other areas. Some of the Engineer players who are waiting for the podcast to start to be guests are OstrichEggs, Five Gauge, and several other of your favorite engineer tournament, wvwvw, and dungeon players.
If you are interested in this exciting opportunity and a chance to work on your media skills please contatct us at gaming@sittingonacouch.com
Cool. But the name makes me cringe.
Really? I really like the name :P.
I may actually level my ranger now. It seems that you guys have the same complaints that Necros are having. They buffed the health of pets that don’t need it. Buffed the passive on signets that have horrible actives and that’s the reason they aren’t used ;p.
The concern that I have now is the response time of the pets when they are behind the target. Does this mean they will now run through a target you are trying to call them away from, and if they get hit by any aoe ability does that mean they will fight in front.
Does anyone use Guard giving a shorter cooldown doesn’t make it useful? Who really needs to use guard every 15 seconds?
Sic ’em the only good shout should be 15 seconds, 40 seconds for a shout that the signet is better than anyways.
I am still going to try Spirit Pets but 70 percent better proc chance just means ICD more often.
It’s pathing issues, and not AI that cause a majority of the issues with pet AI. The same thing is absolutely true with Spirit weapons, they just have less of an obvious glitch because they are usually right next to you.
AI is not an issue, pathing is. When the pathing screws up, the minion stops attacking. This is why you can go 500 hours in pve and rarely see them not fight, it’s also why in all the MY MINION SUCKS videos you always see the ranged pets doing fine. Shadow Fiend should never be used right now. HE has zero health, pathing issues bug him out more often than even the flesh golem.
Bone minions should only be summoned to be destroyed. I did a dungeon stream with guru last night and I brought Minions into fractals. They did better than I did :P. They lived through 75 percent of the encounters, and only bugged out once. We did Fractals lvl 10 so there was some Agony, but it never even affected them. In fact, in several cases, the minions where amazing because they took the damage away from us.
TLDR: Minion AI is not an issue. Pathing for NPC related summoning skills is the issue. The major problem is pathing. It will always be a problem. You notice it less with Spirit weapons because they are attached to you on a shorter leash. You notice it less with clones because you can resummon them quickly. You notice it less on Rangers because you have active buttons.
I think I’ll be using Signet of Spite occasionally now, but it won’t have a permanent spot on my bar.
180 power is pretty dang good, especially in builds that use a lot of Knight’s gear and could use the extra power. 1200 range cripple is great for chasing down those eles and warriors (way more reliable than Spectral Grasp, for sure) and the blind will negate a thief opener. Poison, too, good for lessening heals on demand. And you don’t have to fiddle with targeting!
Cooldown still sucks and long casting time still sucks. But hey, at least now there’s a reason to use it.
Underwhelming patch for us, I guess I was expecting a bit more than what we were already told.
How are you going to interrupt the opening move with signet of spite. That cast time and cd is the issue, and if you are running a build that needs the 180 power, you would lose it all once you activated the signet.
Summoned creatures and pets can no longer draw aggro from enemies that have not already aggroed on their master.
Adjusted ranger pet AI when fighting enemies in PvE. Melee pets now attempt to move behind enemies as long as they are not actively being targeted by the creature.
From the way the SOTG was stated, the pet AI was supposed to be for all summons as well. I am usually excited by changes, but this one, ugh. They buff a signet no one uses anyways, and buffing the Passive does nothing to it.
The Rangers signets got massively awesome improvements reduced CD’s buffs, and the like and they had good signets!!
Welcome to the first ever episode of the Ranger focused podcast “Arrow To The Knee”.
In this episode, Battosai and Jin Drake are accompanied by Durzlla (a fellow ranger), in a brief, hour long introduction to this awesome profession. We started out by covering the initial reasons that brought us to picking the Ranger as main character, and evolved during the course of our discussion, to subjects such as pets, traits, conditions and even weapons, with some exemplification of Pve/PvP and WvWvW situations. As this is our first run, we tried to maintain everything barely superficial, as it is our desire to progress in detail, for the next episodes.
We hope that this podcast will serve as deeper look into the huge versatility that this profession brings to the game. It is also our desire to garantee that this profession has it’s place in the community that supports GW2 as it is also our hope to bring to light the huge potential behind the Ranger. We hope you will enjoy this as much as we are having fun in doing it.

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately I was unable to visit them before their first podcast as an Intro to the Class, but the ball has started rolling any feedback would be appreciated.
They need to nerf the active, is what they need to do.
instant rez on 3 people is absurd, especially if you’re rezzing a bunker guardian or ele that just took full elites/cd’s to bring down.Buff the passive to 2% life force per ability use. Reduce the active to only rez one person.
That’s ridiculous for three reasons
1) The active is 144 minutes if you take the CD reduction.
2) Until we get better mobility we need something this good.
3) You need to brush up on your skill traits. It’s has a cast time and a ridiculously easy to tell casting animation that makes it easily interruptable.

Axe has terrible LF generation because most people know to dodge the channel, and staff is crap generation without soul marks trait since the missiles have a hard time hitting players from being so slow.
In fact, anything that isn’t dagger 1 spam or staff mark spam with soul marks has horrible LF generation.
This sounds a lot like a gameplay issue. If you are 1v1ing a lot as a Necro than you aren’t playing your necro and tournaments right. Besides let them dodge my axe 2 please because dodging my focus 5 is way more annoying. If they dodge my axe 2 the other classes can pepper them with abandon.
To top it all off, Staff 1 is amazing for LF generation in WvWvW and tournament play. Exactly where are you playing that people can openly avoid your staff 1. In tournament play you simply use it while strafing outside the group. Axe 2 is used in the same manner, strafe, wait until he comes out of dodge and boom thank you!.
Granted I still would take dagger over axe in tournament play, but that’s personal preference.
Also spectral grasp and truth be told if you are running Axe you should be running life force on crit.
OOOOO, Flow you guys rock!! Another EU Tournament run! Another reason why Necromancers are the best community out there.
The point is to make it an actual choice as to whether losing the passive effect is worth the active. That is good gameplay for signets. We can argue all we want about how signets are right now (terrible), but having signets for only actives or only passives are both useless; the way they are trying to take it is much better from a gameplay standpoint.
Again that’s not an answer to the question, there is no choice currently because the passives aren’t the issue. The actives for 90 percent of the classes are so bad that even the really weak passives are better than the actives on every single class.
My point is that in order for it to be better gameplay there has to be a reason to use the active. Currently there isn’t a reason to use a single signet active except to gimick a build. That’s it. No other reason.
The passives are fine, the actives are terrible on 90 percent of the signets therefore buffing the passives does nothing for gameplay since you don’t want the actives.
The only class that doesn’t is Engineer. And the point remains, they are trying to fix signets a little so they are more interesting to use. No one said this was the end all be all of signet changes, they are just fixing a small part of the gameplay associated with signets.
How does buffing the passive of signets make them more interesting? It only makes them less likely to be activated which was the case anyways. If you wanted to make them more interesting than adding value to the active or lowering the CD and Cast Time is the way to go, not changing something that requires no action on my part.
The signet change is a good one. There needs to be an actual choice as to whether losing the passive buff is worth it or not. Also remember we aren’t the only people with signets, this is to make signets that are currently being used more of an interesting gameplay decision, not to correct the actives for unused signets.
Remember that the SOTG isn’t an all inclusive ask everything wrong with the game for every single class. It is for the devs to read off their list of fixes per class, get a few questions, and give a general idea of where the game is going. This means they aren’t going to talk about every single tiny issue for every class. It means that unless something is specifically being fixed, or on their minds, it is up to the rest of the people to ask.
It isn’t the place for a lot of what people seem to expect, it is just a way for the devs and community (via leaders) to communicate directly for a few minutes per class.
The problem isn’t that there isn’t a choice, the problem is the choice is always keep the passive and ignore the active. They are buffing the passives which is ridiculous, because the only signet class that doesn’t care about the passives are Warriors, every other class, only chooses signets for the passives because the actives are so bad or on such an extended CD.
Let’s look at which class benefits by this change in form of their passives were worse than their actives.
1). Warriors – You always use the actives over the passives, but shouts are hands down better anways. This choice benefits the signet warriors.
2). Rangers – Nope – again while improving the passive is nice, the Actives are way too good not to use.
3). Guardians – Signets Actives are so bad, the passives are confusing (why condition damage on a signet), and even with the buff almost every other utility is better. The Buff does not change the fact that the actives are awful.
4). Elementalist – No one used signets before , no one will use them after, the passives are awful, the actives are even worse no benefit from change.
5) necromancers – Already explained this is awful
6). Theives – no benefit from this change – again actives are horrible passives are decent.
7) Mesmers – Do they even have signets?
8) Engineers – no signets – useless buff for them
So doesn’t solve any of the issues that are currently associated with signets unless you are a warrior and if you are running signets as a warrior how does this benefit you?
(edited by Bas.7406)
Elementalists don’t give it to their group though. And I’m in full agreement that the stability duration of armor of earth from both the cantrip and the trait at 50% hp need to be nerfed, a lot.
The issue is elementalists and guardians have little need for ranged weapons when bunkering. Have a guardian stand on point, use his elite immunity for when wells are dropped on point and heal back up, go back to being a brick wall while making his teammates impossible to peel because honestly you can’t strip boons from EVERYONE reliably — the cooldowns on boon removal are much longer than the cooldowns on granting allies boons.
I just know my enjoyment of the game drops considerably when there are eles or guardians around. I’d rather fight more mesmers or thieves or rangers because at least those are not ridiculously bulky while still doing decent damage.
I know it’s not a common trait seeing as how it floored everyone when I picked it up for the elementalist tournament game
Grandmaster Trait XI – Rock Solid: Grant stability (2s) to nearby allies when attuning to earth.
It’s awesome for helping Necro’s stomp ;p.
Did I actually read that Poison field is one of the most useful field in the game?
Strange. I always knew it was the most worthless.Poison fields are pretty much crap. You win PVP by bursting down your opponent. This is part of the reason why thieves and mesmers are able to 1vX so well, and why necros are so terrible at it. Pick a target, blow him up in under 3 seconds, suddenly that 1v3 turns into a 1v2 before you even know it, and in the case of mesmers, the other two are half dead now already. You can’t kill someone by stacking weakness, thats for sure. Doesn’t do much to stop them from turning you inside out either.
Kravick, you know I like you, but you are way off. Poison fields give weakness which doesn’t work against bang bang classes, but in a majority of tournaments, there are no bang bang classes, everyone is bunker, condition, or hybrid. Weakness = 50 percent less damage = easier chance to kill. Poison right before a theif/mesmer hits and boom your guardian can’t do enough to keep himself up.
Thieves are always trying to apply poisons, and Mesmers are one of the absolute worse organized tournament classes unless you have a team that doesn’t pay attention. Shatter mesmers get condition crushed and you can easily dodge all of their damage.
Thieves are situational. You use them to strike weakened targets or protect your necro and ranger. If you are dying in three seconds in a tournament to a thief as a necro there is something else wrong there.
Why does staff stink without greater marks?
Maybe its my style but I land it right on top of people so they dont get a chance to block through them, and the aoe is large enough to hit 5…it is much larger than the mark size. The trait I find I cant live without is staff mastery.
Your method works if you are landing it on people for damage, but there is a secondary aspect where a player has to be inside the aoe inorder to get the condition cleanse or regen. This is where it’s a headache of epic proportions so you essentially have to cast it on your teammate and hope someone runs into it.
Also people dodge threw them all the time. I use them as setup and then put fear near me for defense.
Stand Your Ground needs to have the stability changed or only kept for the guardian, make it give aegis to allies instead.
A 30 sec cd 6 sec stability+retal for your group is outrageous for a mere 30 sec cd.
Elementalist get it every 10 seconds 3 seconds of stability if they trait for it. Over 30 seconds when traited you have access to 9 seconds of stability. Guardians are the second most immobile class in the game except they come with no good ranged weapons there by they have a greater need for stability.
nothing of the past, i was reading it last 2 days.
:P I was making a more general statement. It’s starting to annoy me all these look at my builds threads start with Everyone says necro’s suck but I don’t.
Hardly anyone thinks Necros suck anymore outside of solo wvwvw play, and that’s more a product of a lack of mobility.
Anyways, thanks for the video let’s keep pumping them out.
@Bas
Kitting people into your bone minion isn’t always doable, and it’s also not supose to be like that. They are supose to be like homing missile. Like when you summon them during a fight, they will go homing mode and hit.
You say you don’t use those trait in wvw/pve because of the AoE killing them. What about PvP? You don’t seems to use it ether, since you didn’t know about them exploding trigger the trait.
Is it because it’s not useful enought? Because I don’t see anyone using this trait.
Out of subject, I also disagree with you on the blood trait line, but we will discuss that when times will come
Why don’t you play boon stripping minions in sPvP?
Kiting people is almost always doable. As a necro you should be moving constantly anyways to avoid the non-tracking damage abilities.
AOE in WvWvW is ridiculous right now, plus the pathing in WvWvW is so bad that it’s bound to bug out Flesh Golem and bone minions repeatedly. When I do bring in Minions into WvWvW, I wait to summon bone minions until summon is within a few feet of me and then blow them up or wait until they are at 50 percent summon an bombs away. It’s less of a hassle.
Because both Bone Minions and Flesh wurm already drop a poison field when they explode, there is no reason for me to bring Death Nova for only two minions. So boon stripping if I am on the assault team and running Minions.
At the moment I am running a power build with spectral grasp/a well/signet of undeath and 30 points in soul reaping for 3 sec stability.
I dont know about our lack of stability but the stability on other classes is a little ridiculous. Finding targets to fear or pull can be slim pickings.
That has more to do with Guardians/Ele’s spreading the Stability boon than it has to do with everyone having access to it. Corrupt boon Stability than you will see fun.
Also I will be joining the gw2guru stream today at 5:30pm PST/GMT -8
http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2guru
Come and join us live and ask questions.
Due to real life events, and the Tournament event last Thursday we are unfortunately unable to have a mesmerized podcast this week. However Mesmer Mondays will return next week to discuss the patch and all things Mesmer related!
Where are these fabled Necro sucks threads? You must not have been on recently. I can barely keep up with all the Look at this awesome build, Check out my wvwvw videos, and let’s talk about this skill for the Necromancer threads.
Right now there are more Necromancer posts, threads, comments, suggestions, and overall gameplay advice than any other class hands down.
The necro sucks threads are a thing of the past or have more to do with specific skills or GW1 fans who miss their old game.
And here we are again :
“Just because you and your team aren’t using your poison field correctly doesn’t mean it’s bad. "I was wondering if I could get away without Bhawb or Bas remembering me that I don’t know how to play this game. Thanks man
My point was that adding damage to a poison field is a bad precedent to set. Essentially with a poison field you can get it going. Combo fields are horrible for solo play since we have a limited amount of finishers, but they work really really well in organized team play.
I also never said you can’t play. I said you weren’t using the poison field correctly.
“I play a Ranger in pvp”
I also play it, and I also play it in WvW/PvE. I’m used a lot the BM bunker build in sPvP. We might use some different traits/utility, but I was able to pull those number. I didn’t pull them out of nowhere. There were also a post not too long ago on the Ranger forum, wondering what kind of damage you could achieve with Jaguar on BM bunker.
I actually talked with Battosai and Ovi about this recently when we were talking rangers in tournaments, both stated that bunker Rangers are amazing, because you can get as high as 3k crits with the jaguar regularly while playing a bunker build. I asked them how this was the case when I can only get 3-4k with my power build and a panther. The only way you can get 5k is against a thief who has stacks of vulnerability on them. We actually went over that, and now I wish I would have recorded it haha.
Bones minions trigger the death nova when they explode. Early on at release it wasn’t like that. They eventually changed it, might be around december, I’m not sure.
and we all know how AWESOME are poison field. Oh sorry did I just put a poison field over your firefield, sorry no might of stack for you, but hey you have now 30 sec of weakness on the ennemy
And you just forgot about all the difficulties we have to go tru to land it. It’s not a simple grenade barrage like my Engineer that can hit for 10k. That’s a summon-aim-fire-hope-maybetouch skills, which does less then half the damage, with a 1 second delay between each duration.
You even admit yourself it’s not worth the investissement.
The problem with combo fields is that 90 percent of the population doesn’t use them correctly we just spam the ability, and then it keeps overlapping the other combo fields. The truly great wvwvw guilds and tournament teams call out combo fields, and learn how to use them effectively. Poison and Dark Fields are some of the most highly used to great effectiveness. posion field right on a bunker who is about to use a heal have your guy leap finish through and kill him off.
Trying to land it is not difficult at all with Bone minions. I agree with NAY I don’t rely on pathing issues to screw up my bombs, I kite people through the bone minion and blow it up then. The sad part is when pathing issues have them in two separate areas and it blows up the one I am not near. That’s an entirely different conversation.
The question is : Is it worth to have a poison field, or to have 20% more damage when enemy is under 50% hp? Is it better then 3 sec of stability? I think it’s nowhere near those 2 trait.
And other then bone minion, when was the last time you told yourself : kitten good thing I had poison nova" when one of your minion died?
And if you don’t like the damage add, we can add something else. Bleeds, cripple, immob, blind, fear(ahaha).
It’s not a great grandmaster traits, but nothing in the Blood line is worth investing in, and I don’t take it because it’s not worth investing in, but rather due to the fact that they get wtf pawned every single aoe in wvwvw or massive aoe damage in a dungeon. I need a bit of personal damage to offset their loss.
I prefer boon stripping for tournaments, and don’t run Minions in wvwvw due to pathing issues screwing up the Flesh Golem and Bone Minions.
What if the mob has the condition Fury and Protection? Now necros got to pick and choose which boon they remove, to please their warrior overlord master race.
Necros now got to toughen up. Just say to these warrior’s face “I do what I want! I am necro I don’t follow no laws!”
You are overblowing this. Thieves already have this trait. Removing boons is still better than leaving boons up always. The trait is there so they have a chance against Guardians/HGH engineers/Elementalists. They have no ability to remove a boon solo so they get increased damage.
BTW, I am very disappointed that Transfusion (Life Transfer healing) still won’t scale with healing power and still won’t be able to heal yourself though DS.
I am also very disappointed that the regen from Mark of Blood cannot heal me when I am in DS.
In layman’s terms, DS is a “self inflicted counter” to Transfusion and Mark of Blood.
All these contradictions and “self inflicted counters” of necro skills really need to be looked at.
You have no idea how much DS Frustrates every other class in Dungeons. I can’t tell you how often in a dungeon when I flip to DS another class sees the LF Dropping quickly thinks I am being hammered or about to die and uses their big heal before I leave Death Shroud, and I got no heal, and all you hear is the guardian/warrior/ranger/ele swearing because they essentially threw out a heal to save me from DS which I used defensively because I was at 20 percent health.
What I would give to start a kittened PvP game with something other than 0 life force.
Or to have a kitten teleport or a staff autoattack that actually hits moving people so a shortbow thief can’t just shortbow my powermancer to death while dodging my staff auto.
Spectral Walk should be a teleport in addition to its current effect, and spectral armor should be a 3-block stun breaker in addition to its current effect.
I would love for better life force generation methods rather than being forced into dagger 1 or staff with marks trait. Life force generation baseline outside of dagger 1 is horrendous.
And for goodness’s sake, please look at our puny heals. I wish my heals were half as good as my ranger’s heals or my ele’s heals.
Not the best wording, but better than anything the OP says.
@the OP – We have one of the top access to stability for a non-guardian or warrior class. We have 3 seconds on a 10 second cooldown, plus our elites. Rangers don’t get it this often. Only ele’s do and 90 percent of all ele’s never take it. The crazy part of the Ele stability trait is that it’s an aoe stability, that no one takes because 30 in water is way to strong, and 30 in Earth is way too weak.
So to recap and counter your point.
1). We have 3 seconds of stability every 10 seconds easily one of the best in the game if traited.
2). Only the Guardian and I believe the Engineer have easier access to stability. The elementalist is like us in that they only have access to stability on a Utility or 30 points in Earth. No one has it every 10 seconds.
3). The problem is not a lack of stability, it’s that outside of the traited Stability we have no reliable stomp or reliable escape. That’s not an issue of stability, but an issue with the class.

Wow… Dude, I’m speechless. Usually its me making these kinds of posts, with you on the other side trying to counter my points.I also agree with everything you said. Everything. What is happening here? o_O
Our most recent podcast recording was with Dredlord :P. Wait until you hear it haha!
I guess I had high hopes about the direction of the SOTG when Symbolic was on it, but they never let him talk during the Necromancer portion except to ask about the Staff. The response from the devs was completely non-commital which is worse than just saying, hmm, we haven’t noticed that, but will look into it.
Everyone loves staff, it’s just ridiculous that the Mark size isn’t larger considering the amount of aoe in the game. Then they thought we wanted unblockable as a standard part of the staff, when all he wanted was to have the size increased.
Symbolic let me down on the Minion response. They were all proud of their buff, and as every player who remotely plays MM knows Flesh Wurm is brought because he doesn’t die, and when he does die it’s because you used him as a stun breaker. Flesh Golem dies only on massive burst which would kill or severely injure me. The idea he needs more health is scary.
I can just see the next posts. FLESH GOLEM IS UNKILLABLE, Flesh Golem solo’s a guardian bunker build, and that leads to a massive nerf of all minions.
I always wanted to try hyperbole :P.
In the end, I was disappointed more with the hosts and questions asked surrounding the proposed class changes. If they wouldn’t have spent so much time talking about things that were odd, or simply stated that the main reason signets aren’t taken have nothing to do with the passives being bad (most are relatively okay), but the actives being extremely underpowered with extended cd’s. This makes it worthless to use an active thereby forcing you to dump something even if you like the passive.
I play a ranger from time to time, and I run double signets but rarely use the actives as the cost of losing the passive for a 1 second ability is worse than losing the passive. When an active ability and the cd affected by it are worse than the passive of an ability than the ability needs to be reworked. This wasn’t brought up.
Grouch and Symbolic really let me down, CAED was easily had the best questions and follow-ups while Symbolic was routinely ignored and Grouch can come off as a bit of a tool. I haven’t actually met Grouch, but the first half of that podcast left me wishing he would stop talking. The 2nd half he was better, but man that first half annoyed me.
I realize that my suggested trait line rearrangement isn’t perfect, but I’m just trying to point out that the Curses trait line seems to get in a way of a lot of builds.
I read your builds, and my first thought was your build is really poor for a DS build, than it threw me off because the weapons you took didn’t match the traits you took. Than I read your suggested traits, and it seemed that you wanted to screw up the rest of the builds in order to make yours work better.
Why would you screw up any power build that thrives on condition duration? You realize that power builds use conditions correct? Chill, Blind, Cripple, Vulnerability, and so on. Why would you force every single power build to use Soul Reaping? I don’t use soul reaping on a majority of my power builds as most of the traits in it outside of stability on DS aren’t very attractive.
[quote=1918874;Kardiamond.6952:
A Bunker Ranger can use a jaguar and crit for 5-6k on auto attack and still out bunker you.
In my opinion, the minion explosion is lack luster, as is the trait. Poison is good, but a lot of classe can counter it with cleansing, or poison removal heal.
Also take into account the liability of the attack.
[/quote]
I play a Ranger in pvp, 5-6k is not even close for a bunker build on auto attack even with 30 percent more damage on crit. Running a full power pet build you can get 4k on a crit with might stacks and coming off stealth. 5-6 k is not even close it’s more like 1-2k crit on auto and 3-4k out of stealth.
Bone Minions as far as I am aware don’t trigger the death nova trait unless they die without blowing up.
Let me explain why damage on Death Nova is just a bad idea. You have poison field plus poison = aoe weakness – blast finishers. Just because you and your team aren’t using your poison field correctly doesn’t mean it’s bad. Putrid explosion boom use your finishers, and suddenly your opponent is struggling to keep up because even if the clear the initial poison your team readily reapplies it with finishers, now you add in the 4k damage from both explosions plus your axe 2 chain of 5-7k in Berzerker gear toss in the ticking damage, and the retal from axe 3 on you or flip to dagger and drop the guy with awell and dagger 1. Adding more damage to an ability like death Nova would be a mistake.
I don’t even take Death Nova anymore its better to spend the 30 to pickup Close to Death or Axe Mastery.
All pets (Minions, Clones, Thieves, Ranger pets, Elementals etc) all got Agony resistance based off the owner in the same patch.
Thought it was only ranger pets, i should probably read more carefully next time.
It was mainly focused on Ranger Pets but it did go to all of them. It doesn’t help much since their low health still makes them get one shot every time a boss sneezes in FOTM, but they don’t die due to Agony issues.
On April 25th, sittingonacouch.com put on a Tournament extravagana that had never before been seen in Guild Wars 2. 30 players showed up and formed 5 specific profession teams. It was a great time full of fun. Here are some of the videos of those matches!

Wasn’t the show going to be called boon virtued? Or is that a different show?
It was, but the name wasn’t liked by many and it wasn’t liked by our hosts. We are going to go with Consecrated for the time being :P.
I apologize for the name change, but typing Boon Virtue’d and saying it is extremely tough haha.
