Just wrote it so many times.

This is btw OT and useless to discuss.

But EULA is contract law that everyone agrees too every time we start up the game.

Show me a lawyer who would take a case dealing with virtual item rebates? ANet and NCSOFT has much larger legal departments. And if you go class action, when the case is resolved 5 years from now if the game is still up you’ll be able to enjoy your original flamekissed skin and 15 cents of your $10, after the lawyer’s cut.

You are also forgetting the section of the EULA which deals with the items and the Gem Store. Let me highlight.

4d. Gems — You may obtain Gems from NCSOFT (or a third party authorized by NCSOFT) for use in connection with the Game. Gems are a virtual currency which you may, in NCSOFT’s sole and absolute discretion, exchange for Items, services or access to other specific forms of Content not otherwise available without Gems. The Items, services or access to other specific forms of Content offered by NCSOFT in exchange for Gems may be discontinued, modified or removed from the Account by NCSOFT at any time in its sole and absolute discretion.

Dont get NVIDIA get AMD GPU – Mantle support

GW2 should get MANTLE support….

Yeah, some time before the heat death of the universe (maybe even before the Sun turns into a red giant and incinerate the Earth), right after they do Dx11 support.

Lets see from a priority POV, update the renderer using an API that both major card vendors support or just one? In either case it’s not a “simple” thing to implement for either of them.

You knew ANet wasn’t going to reverse their ruling.

Actually ANet has made it very clear that they are willing to change their stance on decisions made regarding the direction of specific aspects of the game and of the game as a whole if people complain enough.

Really. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

Yes, that post is quite straightforward, which does not at all conflict with my previous post.

Players complained about the similarity to Human T3 light and they changed it. They did exactly what you said. That said once they set this new policy in motion there was no chance they would reverse it again. They made the people who were upset about the it being cloned from Human T3, they pulled the set within 24 or 48 hours, they established a policy of reimbursement for the few who bought it if they didn’t like the replacement. End of story.

As I said in one of the numerous duplicate threads on this subject, what they should have done was pull the set from players immediately and reimbursed them then. This why they wouldn’t have become attached to them in the two months it took for the net set to be ready. It’s like trying to take away a puppy from kids after two months.

They are not going to start cutting people checks because it’s the players word that they spent cash and didn’t convert gold to gems.

You bought a store gift card. You then spent that gift card on something. That something got recalled. You don’t like the replacement item. They give you “store credit” instead.

What, you don’t think you will ever spend 800 gems on something every again?

Cheaper alternative to your uber system is an i5-4670K and a GTX 760. Roughly twice the CPU power per core and 15x the video card performance of what you have.

The original light Flamekissed was a repaint of an existing set and so is this one. Only difference was the original was based on something that was suppose to be race unique and cost a far chunk of gold to acquire and the new one isn’t.

If you can’t accept that, or that ANet made their attentions clear when the armor was pulled what was going to happen, that the skins will be swapped and if you aren’t satisfied with the new one then you can get a gem refund, then there’s nothing anyone can do. You knew it was coming for months. You knew ANet wasn’t going to reverse their ruling.

Mantle?

Posted by: Behellagh.1468

Behellagh.1468

Just curious if Anet has any plans to implement Mantle support? I don’t expect it just curious. For those who don’t know what it is, it is basically a new Directx 3d renderer that is more for low end PC’s hardware and it is open source. Meaning Nvidia..Intel whoever wants to make it compatable to their stuff can. It releases uneeded workload on the CPU so it can basically.. ramp up performance pretty high for a lower end machine. It is also very console friendly to make them more able to handle the higher end games. That is what I know about it but im sure there is much more to it then this.

Mods if this is in the wrong spot put it where it belongs IDK where to put technical discussions at because it isn’t a technical issue.

Also exchanging bought gems for gold doesn’t add gold to the game. The gold the exchange is giving out originally came from players who were buying gems. On top of that the exchange sinks 15%, twice, going in and coming out.

Excessive 1c demand on items without a vendor price is the TP equivalent of a blanket advertising campaign since all it does is cause the demand number to be high enough to show up in various in and out game resources. But just some viral ad campaign, a tiny amount of research will reveal the truth behind the so called demand.

For items that I sell or buy on a daily basis, I don’t see it. I see what I expect to see. High supply and low demand means lower prices. Low supply and realistic high demand means higher prices. If low sell and high bid is less than 15%, then all profit had been squeezed out of that market.

Spend the 30 seconds or less to check out the range of bids and sells prices and see if everything looks normal. You will save coin by being better informed.

Not in any particular order.

Any race can buy any race’s cultural weapons. My human uses Sylvari weapons, bought in The Grove. Only armors are race bound. The players who cared are the ones that spent over 100g to get that “unique” armor, available only to their race.

When they announced that they made a mistake basing an armor on a race unique armor they announced the rebate program once the replacement armor came out for those who were dissatisfied with the new set.

Only misstep from my POV, but I know why they did it, was to allow those who purchased it to keep it and grow attached to it in the intervening months. First if already skinned onto existing armor they would have to wholesale replace it with the underlying armor which in some cases would have been skinned once already, much more difficult than simply altering the applied skin. Second it would mean they would have had to rebate all those gems months ago. Not sure how that impacts their accounting and might have led to another drop in the exchange rate. Logic being the higher the exchange rate, the greater the likelihood that the player will spend cash for gems.

The problem is there is no reliable way to farm linen (or even silk, cotton and wool). You can’t expect players who are level 80 to enjoy farming lower level monsters with an abysmal drop rate, especially when the alternatives are better. What we need is a good alternative for farming cloths. I think this would solve a lot of the problems regarding this topic.

Also what Behellagh is forgetting is that you mainly get on-level drops. They changed that at some point. At the time it may have been a good change, but now it would seem it’s created another problem. A level 80 can’t go and smell the roses in a lower area as Behellagh thinks we all should and expect to come out with a decent amount of that tier cloth.

Except I have with my 80. Of course your definition of “decent” might be different.

Disrespect in gem store. ACT 2.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Behellagh.1468

Behellagh.1468

The gemstore itself is nothing but an extension of the bussiness model, it cannot disrespect by itself.

But the model can, and i find that it very much has disrespected me as a player and as a consumer. Well before this mining pick came along infact.

Remember when they tried to reskin an existing set and sell it for gems? That was no accident. That was trying to make a quick buck at the expense of those who got cultural armor the hard way.

And honestly, the moment they came up with the gear threadmill, theyve disrespected me as a player and as a consumer. I’ve spend time and money acquiring my skins. To have my characters, all of them, look like i wanted them to look.
Then comes along undisputably better gear and either i lose my skins or i fall behind in stats…. unless i pay again, for the skins i already own and payed for.

For me that was the line being crossed and i dont buy gems anymore, and i refuse to upgrade my gear to ascended or whatever they come up with after ascended, and they will come up with something.

As someone who spends money in the cashshop, i dont feel as if i am being respected for it with these kind of actions. Release better versions of something i already payed quite a lot of money for.
Or, as mentioned, trying to get me to pay more then once for the skins i already payed money for.

No, that was a lazy artist (lazy in terms of not reinventing the wheel, most programmers are also “lazy”) who decided he liked that look and decided to use it as a starting point to save time. And as an artist might not have understood that the armor he choose was the most expensive armor set you can buy from a vendor in the game. And you know what, there really isn’t another pretty light armor design to rip off borrow from. So you have to design it from scratch and that’s a lot of work.

Yes but I’m not or ever been in favor is speed leveling. An RPG is meant to by played as an exploration/adventure game, not a spreadsheet of optimal builds, fast leveling, speed runs and even “best farms”.

Except MMO players in general have been conditioned to play only one way with Flavor of the Month builds and choosing content solely on ROI calculations to minimize time while maximizing reward because in reality they don’t want to play the whole game anymore because all the good stuff is at max level/zones right?

It’s like reading a who done it and you jump to the end as soon as the crime is discovered. It’s like the episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation when Data and Geordi were playing Holmes and Watson on the holodeck. Data kept solving the adventure 30 seconds after it starts instead of going through it. The notion that there is a quantitative “best way” to play drives me nuts.

The difference however is that the limitations on F2P games are huge, essentially forcing you to spend money if you just want to enjoy yourself. Pay gated content or classes. Extremely limited inventory space with a long hike back to anyplace you can sell or store it. Limited range of items, limited customization.

It’s the difference between those traveling carnivals where each ride has a ticket booth vs the fix price day pass at the big amusement parks with unlimited rides. Sure the parks can still soak you for food and drink but you don’t have to stand in a line to by a ticket to stand in a line to use one. And for the longest time some T5 mats were, and still are, 1c over vendor with supply in the millions.

In the rush to max level and the refusal to play in middle level zones where some rewards and drops provide T4 mats (“I’m goin’ to ride this champ train all night long baby …”) those mats aren’t being found/savaged in the quantities that are in actual (as in a reasonable price) demand. I did get a lot of linen when I was in a level kitten zone a few nights ago. Pretty much by myself.

So how many port into those zones, do the event and port away without even trying to do a local DE or even a sweep? “But another boss event is waiting Behellagh, I have a schedule to keep.” Well guess what, that’s why linen is so expensive. Nobody is farming for it because nobody is playing in the zones where it drops unless they’re there for the boss chest.

Edit: Odd thing to kittenize, a range of numbers that are 5 less than what Zaxares posted after me. Ah, I get it now, silly way to write a word referring to the posterior using only numbers, as long as you squeeze out hyphens first.

An official statement may launch another series of threads but acknowledging the players are being heard by someone not in CS (no dis here) has to be better than riling them up by (being perceived as) ignoring them.

Edit: Just saw you posted in one of the tamer threads on the subject. It’s a start but I fear that unless we hear from someone higher up on the dev chain it’s going to be perceived as sending out the PR person to talk to the pitchfork and torch wielding mobs. That never defuses the situation.

Even if it jumps back up to a silver then it’s an awesome 17c per node on average. So how many nodes do you hit every day? If enough to get the Daily Gather then it’s 7 which means about 1.2s per day which is what, 3-4 copper ores?

So currently is around 81g worth of gems so it’ll pay itself off in 2-3 years at 1s per sprocket.

On average it’s a whole 6-8c per node. Now everyone who bought infinite use picks and other gathering tools have told those who did the math and says the ROI is over 7 years that it’s a convenience item and the calculating equivalent number of Orr picks isn’t important.

But now the ROI is 11% less because it spits out a tiny amount of money it’s suddenly all about ROI. Oh noes, that pick could make maybe an addition 1-2g per year of mats, compared to the 20-25g if you mine just copper that it’s totally unfair.

So you spent 800 gold converted gems versus 1000 gems, likely less gold per 100 than it is now, had it converted for free into an account bound item, maybe gem rebates on duplicate picks, have use of the pick for some amount of time already yet are upset because over a year you might make an additional gold or two over an entire year with this new tool. And you call it pay to win.

Not seeing it mate. A slightly more economical tool (if you do ROI) that costs 25% more gems, when gold to gem conversion rate nearly triple of what you likely paid and it’s unfair?

6-8c per node is not a P2W.

20% chance for a 40c item. So that’s 8c a node. Oh no that new gold spigot will ruin the game’s economy for good.

Yeah, right.

1st. Those who bought it early got way more cash for it.
2nd. Even if you get only 8c per node it still adds o unlimited tools convenience price:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1citm3/60000_uses_before_the_molten_alliance_pick_is/
“Currently it costs over 24g to buy 800 gems. The description of the pick says it’s the same as an orichalcum pick, which sell for 4s. Therefore you could buy at least 600 orichalcum picks for the same price, and at 100 uses each that comes to 60,000 uses. So extrapolating further, if you only mined for your daily, you would need to mine 7 nodes a day [7 nodes X 3 uses per node=21 uses per day] and your MA pick would be profitable in 2857 days, or 7.8 years, if you don’t mine more than that each day.”

3rd. The worst part is that they ruin sprocket market that existed for 6 month just by adding item like that. What market is next? Spores? Azures? Quartz?

1) The pick went on sale the 28th of January. GW2TP.com, with hour samples, had the sell price between 39 and 52c. GW2Spdy had the 24 hr average at 43.18c. 20% puts it between 7.8 to 10.4c or 8.636c on average. If you sell them on the TP deduct another 15% so… 8c or so on average. Yes the price is lower now (38.56 24hr average) but the Watchwork Sprocket price dropped due to the new LS content several days before the release of the pick from it’s roughly 1s price.

2) It’s 1000 gems so roughly 81g. At 4s per 100 swing Orichalcum pick that’s roughly 2025 picks. Now players who did this analysis would say an unlimited pick isn’t worth the gold cost and they are countered that’s it’s a convenience item and such an analysis shouldn’t be done or that it’s value should be stated in cash, $12.50. Except now, assuming the value of sprockets remain constant, it would decrease the number of equivalent picks to, hmm you will earn on average 50c per equivalent pick so around 1800 picks. But as I said people who own an unlimited pick have already said that an ROI isn’t important because it’s for convenience. Sorry you can’t have it both ways now that it’s ROI is slightly better.

3) As I said before, the market on Watchwork Sprockets collapsed 50-60% over a couple of days starting when the new LS started on the 21st, a week before this pick was offered. Since then, maybe another 10% at most. And who knows maybe when this LS goes bye-bye only those with a sprocket node or one of these tools will become the sole supplier of this item and the price will recover.
