*Beldin: I code for a living, it is just that easy, it’s actually one of the very first things you learn how to do. And I said it saves it in the user profile, they could even save it in your character settings among half a dozen other locations. How do you think the Inventory/Bank windows remember where you put your stuff? same thing is applied to the skills panel and we’re good to go.
And again for reference, they already did it in gw1. It’s a standard thing in all mmo’s except gw2. Anyway, this topic has been beaten to death since the betas and still not addressed. The only thing we can do is hope they add it later.
There still have to be dedicated variables you create where you store the infos
in memory and you have to write code that writes the value of those variables
down to your profile, or loads them in memory, also they have to be checked
each time you change a weapon and so on ..
And its simply not just 1 = Skill 2 2 = Skill 5 .. but its that for each possible
combination, and its get especially compicated when you want to have maybe
different layouts for axe and sword mainhand and then chose an offhand where
the layout conflicts with what you had chosen for that weapon.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I wish there would be an option to automatically take your target as the center
of the ground target. We have tha mouse cursor option, but that doesn’t work
very well if you often use the mouse to click on your skillbar.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
All of that ‘saving’ is done in the user profile, not static combinations that have to be accounted for in code.
And I’ll remind you that they already know how to do it. You don’t have to accomodate for weapon swapping anything at all, each and ever skill is it’s own object in code, you just tell the UI where to put that object and it gets put there. It’s quite simple even though it would take a couple weeks to code it out.
I don’t really understand what you are talking about, maybe since english is not
my native language.
Do you really think that an UI is so “intelligent” that you don’t need to program
that intelligenz in the first order, and that you don’t need to have to save the
settings anywhere because the UI has it always in its brain ?
You could maybe earn a lot of money if you can create such “living UIs” and sell them.

They promised a something ever changing, interesting, and dynamic. HoT doesn’t look to be that. I just want to be excited to play again. If I’m the only one not pleased then ah well.
We had that with LS1 .. problem was most people didn’t wanted to have temporary
content and prefered to have a “not changing” static world where everything is
permanent.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
The big problem is that the 1-5 skills change with the weapon you use, so it
would be a nightmare to save all possible weapon combinations. Its not just
save 1-5 .. there need to be variables to save all possible combinations.
They could maybe easier mix 6 and 10 with 7-9 .. i think thats more a design
choice to have healing and elite on dedicated spots. The way the skills are
chosen at the moment however would also not work with that and they
needed to let us drag&drop them in that case.

:( I like that confirmation, helps me stop salvaging when using kits to salvage tons of greens. I can’t quite see the yellow border when in “salvage mode” as well as others might be able to see. Don’t remove, please.
^ This.
It would be nice to have of course something like an autodetection where you
only need to confirm if you want to salvage yellows with a lower kit, but i fear
in that case they will again go over the top and we would also need green kits
for greens and blue for blues .. -sigh-

Thank you for all constructive reply. I will provide the crush detail once it happens again. Yes, I’m using 32 bit Window 7 got it from years ago….T.T
Upgrade to 64 Windows is the only real fix. If you have an original Microsoft Version
you can download a 64-Bit ISO at Microsoft and install it with your Serial Number.
Else try playing with minimal graphics settings, since the problem is mostly that
you just have out of memory crashes.

Well… we shall continue to talk about 64 bit client to the thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/64-bit-client/first
Please keep Cesarking’s Thread clean. ^^

I always love it when people use still 32 Bit windows and have 8 or even 16 GB

I guess we also have too much colors for you and we only need grey and brown,
everything else is just “soooo unrealistic”
And remove Asura, Charr and Sylvari from the game and all magic professions
and all skills that have unrealistic animations.
Let us just all play on level 1 with starter gear .. just autoatack with a rusty sword
in grey chainmail ^^

As a compromise, they could leave the “coming soon” window and remove the “you sold this on the Trading Post, hit accept” and the “Zommoros rewards you with this, hit accept” because I already KNOW I sold or MF’d and don’t need to be told or made to hit accept. They could make those windows appear then fade out, remove the required accept.
You know that you don’t need to click on the accept buttons in the TP or at
the Mystic Forge ? You can directly click the next stuff into the forge under
the accept window and forge again.
On the TP you can also click anywhere outside the sell window and it closes
without clicking OK .. or sell other stuff from your inventory ..I didn’t know about the MF one. Ty. However the TP one, if you are clicking outside the sell window that’s still the extra click, it’s just in another spot. Since that big panel is covering up your items to sell, how do you sell something else? Does it go away when you click on something in your inventory?
I always sell with right clicking stuff in my inventory .. and in that case directly
the new sell window in the TP opens.

since the prices were fixed and not driven by the market.

They are not giving us rewards. If someone gives you worthless things that is not reward. Its just salvage material that you dont need.
They should add real rewards, like gold.
The joke is .. it isn’t even salvageable. Now the next step would be to let us type
in the name of those items if we want to destroy them

that you can’t salvage or sell. There should be an option that you simply don’t get
them at all

So how do we earn them now ? Only randomly from champbags without even
a notification ? I think i got 2 in Frostgorge last week from 21 bags, and null from
last Jormag events where i had 8 chests.
Else not even anything anymore from level up ?

Theres plenty of games with better AI than gw2 and are pve, its not only need to be pvp.
You mean any of those games where the mobs blindly attack the one person
with the most defense and hitpoints, only because he tells im some yo mama jokes ?No i mean, that kind of games that are for just one person and are hardcore oriented.
Been hardcore not the quantity of hours you spend in a game, but your level of coordination, reflex, fast and proper thinking, concentration and capability of notice many detailsa t the same time.Plus, even if a game like what you said have better AI than GW2, except what you mentioned. Why not correct it?, i mean your argument/reply, doesnt make sense -.- .
MMOs are no single player games. If you want singleplayer games then play those
but don’t try to turn MMOs into it.
How do you image fights that last 5-10 minutes against a single mob in the open
world where you have 20 mobs in a camp and the all respawn after 1 minute ?
Please go play those games, but don’t try to turn this game in something that would
just frustrate most of the players because you won’t be able to move 20 feet because
mobs respawn 10 times faster than you could kill them.

Maybe there should just be two different versions in the gem store. Traditional Monk Outfit and Balloon Monk Outfit.
Also a male version for female norn / human this time. Im so sick of all those skirts.

Yeah downscaling is the problem, at least if you play like me alot in mid level areas.
Nearly all character feel nerfed there beside my engi. However when i went to
Frostgorge for Clawmag i noticed that he mobs there die as fast / faster than before
and also nearly as fast as mobs in Dredgehaunt or Timberline.

To be fair, the original clipping was not that worse than other clipping in game. I am not sure why it had to be fixed.
Because some people simply seek with the magnifying glass for ever clipping
error and can’t stop complaining until everything turns into a big balloon.

when they are released on live servers.

live server.

“smart” AI ends up just being frustrating but just as predictable as “dumb” AI.
Mostly this.
I always laughed when people wanted better AI in trinity games, where the whole
concept lives from the fact that the mobs are NOT intelligent. Else they would
kill the healer first, and the whole concept of the trinity goes down the drain.
Now here .. who would play a scepter ele if you would never ever hit a mob with
dragons tooth because those mobs are intelligent end run out of the radius
before it comes down ? What mob would stay in wells of a necro, or in the
range of 100 blades .. and so on and so on ?
In the end we would have maybe only chars running around with longbows
and staff eles, because melee is just running after mobs but never hit them,
as long as the mob leads us into 10 other mobs where we then have to run.
Or we need to have masses of root skills that last long enough to kill a mob
before he runs away. However then mobs maybe also root us constantly ..
what would also be “great fun”.
I remember in Lineage2 there was an Ol’Mahum camp where mobs also always
ran away when at 25% health or so .. and yeah directly into a camp with masses
of mobs. As melee that was simply frustrating since you couldn’t kill them if
you don’t wanted to get killed and loose 5% of you level exp.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Please no .. all those faction grinding in other MMOs is just because there is mostly
no other “endgame” if you don’t like raiding.
So what will it change here ? Now we grind for money .. with faction grind we first
have to grind for enough faction that we can buy things at faction merchants and
then finally grind for the money to actually buy it. Great concept ^^

Yes, my female human looks pretty “hippy” now.
It’s strange… the Ancestral Outfit (the very first outfit introduced after they killed Town Clothes) still clips with my body style to this day. It has never been addressed, and the dress clips through the sash at the hips. But I never noticed any clipping on my body style with the new Monk Outfit. I was happy with it until the “fix”.
Better live with those small clipping errors if you don’t want to run around
as a balloon.
All those complains about small nearly visible clippings just lead to the fact
that we get monster hips and stuff like this.

Is it actually true that downscaled toons are worse than intended level, or is it hyperbole?
I have ’t had much chance to look into it
https://whyigame.wordpress.com/2015/06/27/gw2-i-think-downscaling-is-borked/
I kill a bunch of boar with the level 20.
Yes, the words are very small, so let me summarize:
Cyclone Axe (~80 damage)
Chop (~165-170 damage, critting for 210-250)
Double Chop (~149-163 damage, critting for 229-259)
Triple Chop (~145-149 damage on the first two strikes, 324-334 on the last strike, critting for 469-540 damage on the last strike.)
Boar hits me for 70-77 damage each direct attack, more or less, and healing signet pulses away for 32 healing.80downscaled
I swap over to the level 80 and do the same thing.
Cyclone Axe (~64-69 damage, critting for 98-119)
Chop (~112-145 damage, critting for 171-245)
Double Chop (~104-129 damage, critting for 168-257)
Triple Chop (~104-129 on the first two strikes, 235-286 on the last strike, critting for 188-233 on the first two strikes, and didn’t manage to crit on the last strike during my test)
Boar hits me for 82-89 damage each direct attack, and healing signet still pulses away for 32 healing. The boar’s bleeds was a constant 32 in both cases (makes sense, since armor doesn’t affect conditions), and the level 80 had a trait that had a chance of applying a bleed on a critical (which did 28-40 damage.)
I dunno… but it SURE SEEMS TO ME like the level 20 is doing more damage than my downscaled level 80. I kill the same boars in less hits on the lowbie than it takes the level 80 to finish off his.

I’ve been waiting for low level content to become challenging again for 3 years!
I always love this posts. Are you people really level up to 80, gear yourself up in
exotic or even ascended, just to go then directly to Queensdale to have a greater
challenge then you had there as when you were level 1-15 ?
Oh my gawd .. i leveled up to 80 .. and now i am NOT weaker than i was at
level 1 .. that can’t be right .. the whole reason for leveling is to get weaker
and weaker. If i’m 80 i expect to need a full party of five to kill a skelk in
Queensdale .. and not oneshot it like those newbies.
Really .. go kill some Terragriffons if you want more challenge.

In a serius note, im happy with the changes, i advice people having problems to either practice or change to builds and stats that suit them (or both depending of the situation).
Its not that i have problems with anything .. i just don’t like it to have crafted
ascended gear and leveled to 80 to find myself weaker than a level 40 in green
stuff in a midlevel zone.
If they really want to make all areas even, then they should simply remove the
whole concept of levels and everyone is 80 at creation and we can forget about
blue and green gear. Maybe make the whole game like sPvP where you can
select your amulet for free .. and thats it.

Frostgorge is the new Queensdale now when you have to do daily events there.
Really .. the mobs there last night often died before i could tag them .. the same
way what people always complained about what the problem with mentoring

The scaling is no so out of order .. last night i felt in Frostgorge as if i was in Queensdale
before the nerf, since mobs in normal events died there very often before i could

I can choose any part I want also the assembly is free !well at least here in Israel so I should go for Gtx 970, lower the cpu to i5 4690k and ram to 8 gb ?
My budget is around 1500$-1600$I would bump up to 16, even if it meant cutting back a couple versions on the video card. But that’s me.
Isn’t 8gb enough for gaming ?why would I need 16 ? Unless I do video editing or streaming right ?
Its enough at least for most actual games with 32-bit clients. When 64-bit gets
more common then of course that may change.32bit will only use 3GB. Same as a 32bit OS. That’s why.most games say they need 2GB of ram. The only need for more ram is so the GPU can use it. But these days with after market cards coming with 2GB+ ram, needing more than 8GB is overkill, unless you are running alot of things in the background, voice coms, streaming/ Vid capture, overclocking apps etc.
32-Bit programs can only use 3GB under 32-bit OS but up to 4GB under a 64-bit OS.
However since some of the memory is used for system access its in the end around
3,5-3,6 GB mostly where the app runs out of memory. 1,6-1,7 under 32-bit OS.
