If you look at the header, it’s listed under Non-Functional Command Line Arguments.

Ok .. then i deleted what i wrote first for no reason.

So .. in that case .. just copy local.dat from one PC to yiur GW2-directory and copy it
back to your appdata directory on the other PC.

However .. mostly its better to configure it manually once on each computer in case

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

You ask for specifics on the offensive trait unlock locations; I find myself agreeing with Kain Francois.4328:

X- 100% anything… No, no, no, no!!!! I do not want to do map completion on my 5th alt.
X- Kill Champion X [Group Event] and timegates. Waiting for Champ to spawn, then waiting for people to help…
X- Personal Story Traits… Too little, too late. A possible consequence of traits unlocking at level 30 instead of level 10.
X- “Find the grand chest near Scholar Fryxx.” (Straits of Devastation) This one is just annoying.
X- Any WvW objectives… This is THE worst of all trait unlocks! It combines time gates of waiting until an Ogre Camp expires, so that you could cap it… Then it also has the issue of no one wanted to help out. I’m sure even your own metrics will report that trying to kill the Overgrown Grub is dumb.

So I add my voice to those who ask to please make the traits unlocks “account bound”.

I also sign that.

Also to say it clear : give for all those traits simply at least an option that is soloable
content beside just buying it, and that is not a map-compltion. Or at least some of
the “popular” worldbosses (not Teq, Wurm)

September Stat Changes...more dead levels?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Beldin.5498

Beldin.5498

I believe this could be true, but also that there will be no “dead levels”. Maybe something like this?

Level X: gain 6 levels worth of Power increase
Level X+1: gain 6 levels worth of Vitality increase
Level X+2: gain 1 hard-to-get equipment piece (like a back item) with above-average stats
Level X+3: gain 6 levels worth of Precision increase
Level X+4: gain 6 levels worth of Toughness increase
Level X+5: gain 1-2 trait points (like is already the case since April)

Repeat this cycle for each subsequent block of 6 levels, until you reach level 80.

Look at the picture :

Downed state may really be confusing, because you don’t have time to read the
skills when your fighting for your life .. but lvl 5 doesn’t change anything, we need
a tutorial for that better, and maybe a description of the downed skills under the
list of the weapon skills.

Else .. i don’t like it do have more and more useless levels where you get nothing at all
and rather have the old trait system back, and also leave the stat gain how it is.

Dude I have 23 almost 24 level80. And I leveled a bunch of characters after the trait updates.

I think people simply dont’ know how to play. I have problem on my first elementist too, that is with traits.

But now on my third elementist, I’m having a much easier time without the traits.

That being said, elementist is pretty hard to level for beginners, and it’ll be “slightly” harder without traits.

Had also less problems with my second elementalist leveled with the new system,
however i used also a level 20 scroll, crafted 21 levels, and bought exactly the traits
that my older 80 elementalist was using .. so i did the experimantation with that one
to find out the build that works best for me.

Oh yeah .. because it will be a killer when everyone notes that it is just a free demo and

Also open world pvp seldom really had a big success in the west, in the end it turnes

And Black Desert .. the same .. also open world Pvp .. and its also a real grinder where
you don’t get much exp from questing and you have actually to grind mobs to level.

How about Gathering Tool Skins in Wardrobe?

Keep in mind that anet is a business, and they need to generate revenue. Doing something similar with the tools (though I have asked for such as well) negates all inclination to purchase another set as you don’t need it any longer. This affects their bottom line.

I think that the idea that someone might buy more than one set of tools is a bit exploitative of them, given their price. It would cost me $288 to fully gear out my characters like that, and I don’t think ANet could see that as a reasonable target. The existing prices are already plenty for account bound tools, $36 to fully deck out yur characters in tools is a reasonable amount by any measure.

I bought them all with gold .. but in total i have 15 picks, 7 sickles and 8 axes.
Most of them i bought however when 800 were like 25-30 gold.

But of course i also have often wished they were a characterwide feat so that i only
needed one and all characters could use them without switching them via the bank.

September Stat Changes...more dead levels?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Beldin.5498

After the September patch, ‘between’ levels will be even less progressive, having no traits and no stats either. With 80 levels to get through, that’s a lot of dead levels with no progression whatsoever. Progression will grind to a halt between arbitrary numbers.
To me that seems like it will make levelling feel less progressive over all, not more.

In the end they can strip now all the dead levels and make max level 16 or 20.

Stats every five levels .. so 80 / 5 = 16

Just adjust traits then to start with level 3, and we get another each level.

Or make it every 4 level .. so 80 / 4 = 20 .. and there we are back to max level from GW1

but they will not, so why bring it up?

Because bringing it up makes as much sense as this new feature .. also who knows ..
maybe they also think that it would be “less confusing” for new players if they don’t
see something about level ups too often .. i really think level ups are confusing like hell

Hmm .. this picture from Chinese Version also feeds my fears .. look at the “daily AH sales” ..
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img577/2972/0ucs.jpg

I dont think this for gw2 lol – would they add seomthing like this than this would be last day for me. I would sooo quit and delete this game^^.

Maybe not the VIP accounts .. but at least the limited transactions per day ..
you know .. “just to avoid confusion” ^^

John Smith stated several times that the high volume and velocity of the market is one of its biggest boons, so i doubt, they will put a brake like this in it.

Begs the question then of why limit AH (strange that it is called AH and not TP in the linked graphic) in the Chinese version. Is there a major difference between the amounts of items and gold generated by each version?

Its called AH and not TP because whoever photoshopped (translated the graphic from chinese to english wording) didnt know better.

Some of the major differences between the chinese and NA/EU version is that they are first of all separate clients (different games) and they follow different business models.

Does having different clients and different business models effect the TP though? If both versions generate player wealth at the same speed and the US version’s TP is a boon for controlling wealth why does the Chinese version limit TP transactions? I realize that is a big question and I am not trying to have an argument with you Wanze, just curious.

I would think that both the TP, the way the story progresses and various other changes on the Chinese Client are largly due to how the player base prefers to play. China is a VERY different culture when compared to the US, and the various cultures in the EU. Their prefered method of play is far different then ours. I would think that the TP changes in the Chinese version were made to cater to those types of players. As I don’t know much about Chinese player preferences I can only speculate, but that seems to me the most logical reason.

But our story will progress the same like the chinese version .. we also got all the
things “to not confuse new players” they have in that version, like the fantastic new
trait system, and we get also now new stats only ever 5 levels ..

So all in all i see that we get step by step everything from that version here.

My real hope was at least a better UI for the TP .. but after all i saw the last weeks
i don’t have any hope for something that is really for the better and not just to
“not confuse new players”

Really? I kill them almost on a daily basis because I want to max the underwater weapon kills. After 30 sharks I always have at least 2 scales. And it’s not like it takes a huge amount of time to kill 30 sharks in that area.

RNG is really the problem .. when i farmed Arctodus i sometimes get 3 T6 mats from

The only other solution is to prevent the game from reaching the point where
it wants to use more than 1,7 GB of memory .. and that can only be done with
setting all graphics to minimum and maybe even use a lower screen resolution.

Also .. avoid zones / events with a lot of players, since more different armor skins
also would need more memory. And maybe restart the client every now and then.

I know in Age of Conan there was always the mini-map as indicator .. if it turned white
the game would be crashing at the next zoning .. that was by the way the time when

Rebalancing the Scale-down Feature

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Beldin.5498

Beldin.5498

Ok, here we go again:

Threads like these pop every now and then. There are generally two types of people replying:

  • People like OP who want monsters in low level areas buffed or high-level players nerfed, because otherwise they don’t have challenge and fun.
  • People like me who want everything to stay as is because we enjoy character progression and want to kill weak monsters for poor rewards in low-level areas much faster, because otherwise we think it’s boring and not fun.

If I invested in leveling and gearing my character in ascended, I deserve return on investment in form of faster kills and easier dailies. Getting to 100% map completion was rather boring already on my fully geared lvl 80. I don’t want huge HP bags with stupid AI everywhere, doubly so if they drop 1 silver stuff.

If your problem lies in running with underlevel friends, than simply gear yourself with greens of that level or take off some armour. Sorry, but I don’t want to be involved in a global solution to someone’s own personal problem

There’s been a thread on this subject before. There were basically two groups of people:

  • those who thought it was boring because it was easy;
  • those who thought it would be boring if it wasn’t easy.

You’re in the first group. I’m in the second. You like challenge; I like progression, I like to feel stronger, I like to get lower rewards only for easier tasks.

If they buffed the monsters for 80s, I do not think I would ever finish my map completion.

Just a small question: After the mega server update, have you been in an event with a lot of high level players, and tried to get credit as a low level player?

Your opinion only takes into account a few situations, such as world completion. Whereas the general idea behind adjusting the down-scaling system is to make the game a better place for everyone to be, not just your lv80.

Prime examples being the Savanir Shaman event or The Reactor Fire Elemental that dies in a matter of seconds and if not an 80, no chance at loot.

Or The one in Harathi Highlands that due to sheer DPS output from zerk 80’s even when downscaled makes lower ( level appropriate people) get basically nada due to the way they judge loot .

Totally wrong .. the DPS has nothing to do with getting the body loot of champs, its
just who hits them first.
Ignore the Portals at the Svanir Shaman for example and alredy start to fire on him
when he is still invulnerable .. and you will mostly get his body loot.

And yes .. i did that with a level 15 elementalist after the megaserver and got loot.

Also as a player who is leveling you maybe run once into these events .. if ever, and
there is no really need to nerf everything because of false assumptions in something
thats in the end takes maybe 20 minutes of your leveling phase.

All “QoL” they announced recently was something along the line of

so .. yeah .. i’m scared that the next QoL feature is.
“to avoid confusion we remove collection and trading .. " or at least

You rightfully ask why people don’t just put on some white gear. Fair question.

  • First of all, they would have a greater risk but without greater reward. It wouldn’t feel fair. You want something good out of a mob which took you 15min to kill.
  • Their builds won’t work either (builds that work with a certain amount of crit-value to generate specific effects).

But thats what people ask for with the harder downscaling .. more risk for nearly no rewards.

If i’m in low level zones, i’m mostly there to harvest and mobs are mostly just annoying
and i would mainly even prefer them to be grey / non-aggro like in other MMOs.

If you want harder fights .. go Southsun and have fun with the Karkas. They can
also drop powerful blood. Who really wants to fight 5 minutes against a lvl 2 skelk to
get a claw thats worth 15 copper ?

A lv80 in Queensdale should have just as much problems with a Centaur as they do with a Risen in Orr. At least, that’s my personal opinion.

So he should be weaker than a low level character ? Because the lowbie at lvl 5 will
much faster kill the lvl 5 centaur than the 80 kills the risen.

Also .. give the 80 level 5 items, reset all traits and don’t use them .. and i suspect he
will also be weaker than the lvl 5 character.

Yes, because the high-level player has far more experience, along with utility skills, elite skills, traits, runes, and sigils, and other advantages. The power curve between low level and high level players is exponential, not linear.

Making them take longer to kill the mob compared to a level 5 is the only way to balance that they can skill for many damage bonuses, defenses, CC, heals, and even use skills that can completely turn the fight once every few minutes.

The only other option would be to take those things away…

Why do you want that ? Have actually any lvl 80 stealing your loot when you played
a low level ? Have they stolen your copper node ?

Since thats not really possible .. whats your problem ? Do you personally want to
have more challenge ? Then DON’T go into low level areas.

Do you want to level with a low level friend ? No problem .. equip a white lvl 5 weapon and see how your friend kills faster than you.

Really .. tell me why you are here on a crusade to nerf other people to feel that they
only have gotten worse with every level and better gear and traits.

Healing without doing damage would be extremly lazy game play, since there is not
much that you would do then .. casting your healing spring every 25 seconds .. or just
staying around as a guard doing nothing else than sharing your regenaration ?

Personally i don’t know that there is a way to constantly heal other without doing
any damage and without standing around doing nothing between cooldowns.

Well, this is not strictly true. A staff Ele on Water can actually be a full healer because their autoattack AoE heals allies in a radius of 240 around the target. When properly traited and good runes and sigils, it has an incredibly amount of HPS far surpassing any amount of personal heals (relative to their cooldowns, of course).

I doubt that the auto-attack on water of the staff-ele does zero damage .. right ?

.So if you think you’ve done plenty of dps then feel free to rev and heal but if not then focus on dps cuz you’ll get garbage loot(not like beside that you actually get smthing useful)or no loot at all.

Loot quality is not bound to your DPS .. you just need to hit a champ once to get loot .. the rest is RNG. Else its more important to hit a champ first because it seems to be that there is a cap of many people maximum gets loot .. but thats it more or less.

A lv80 in Queensdale should have just as much problems with a Centaur as they do with a Risen in Orr. At least, that’s my personal opinion.

So he should be weaker than a low level character ? Because the lowbie at lvl 5 will

We found that trading is much to confusing thats why you can now only 1 item
every 5 levels. Also you need to be at least level 50 for that,

1000/10 I’d like a rework on Shatterer LIKE with Tequatl.
(I meant, at least SAME difficult).

I do Tequatl every day. It is really challenging, I love that battle. But fighting a dead dragon in a swamp will not be ever like THE SHATTERER in Blazeridge Steppes (I love the violet effect in that map: always spent some time watching the sky waiting for my mates for Guild Missions).

In the end it is a f****g dragon, not a little elemental o wurm.
Next steps: Shatterer then JORMAG.
In that case: faster battle, harder mode, better rewards.

And most important .. much longer wait time ..

My idea .. make them so that they needed to be killed in 3 different zone similtaneous
and need 500 people at least .. wait time should be at least 5 hours.

For the jewels .. yes .. i still get some nice Sunstone out of iron ore now and then

This pick is a good example why gem items should NOT create trade able resources. It disrupts a player based market. It make the game look and behave like pay-to-win. .

If you don’t like what you think is “pay to win” .. then buy the SILVER Fed Salvage-O-Matic .. because that is cleary “pay to loose”.

Tequatl’s only a ghost town if you arrive five minutes before the show. Show up around 40 minutes to an hour before and you’ll land in a map that’s organizing.

There are a lot of people that simply don’t want to camp mobs forever. Had that
long enough in Everquest 2 .. no thanks to Waitwars 2.

Completely Pointless Revamps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The way I see it, the recently announced changes to levelling are in response to the complaining about the new trait system.

In case you don’t recall, tons of people were complaining that now gaining a single level feels meaningless and unrewarding, especially up until level 30.
With the new changes, they’re “fixing” that problem with new rewards and UI changes that make levelling feel important.

But now the levels are even more meaningless .. in fact they can make max level
now 16 .. because its like 1 level you get stats / traits .. and the next 4 level you
only get weaker because you don’t get anything.

Its actually maybe a little different because of the 5 level stat progression and 6 level
trait progression .. but if they would set traits also to 5 level they can really delete
all those levels.

You want the game to be hard?

Equip low level armor.

Low level weapons is already enough .. give an 80 a level 5 weapon and you need
maybe more hits than a level 5 character.

I could maybe understand it if high level chars could steel ressources because they
can faster reach them .. but thats not a problem here.
