I would say 2 levels an hour is fast. Knowing where events are and grinding them out.
For normal leveling it is fast .. however i often read you can do that in EotM.
Was never there personally since i avoid everything that has to do with PvP
like the devil avoids holy water, since i played Aion.

“personal story starts at level 10”
So the question is how long it takes to get to level 10.
You more or less reach level 5 when keyfarming right now, and that’s 15-20 minutes. However, that’s including experience from doing the Personal Story itself.
Anyway, using this as an (extremely) rough guess, it’ll take 30-40 minutes to get to level 10. Add another 10 minutes to do your Personal Story steps, and it’ll be 40-50 minutes for each key.
So expect Black Lion weapons to significantly increase in price on the TP.
Without the exp from the story you can normaly make maybe 2 level per hour, so
for me it seems it will then take maybe 5+ hours for a run.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
The level system for me starts to look like :
So if you level up now .. absolutely nothing happens, since that will only confuse you,
and to minimize confusion you only get some traits and stats and whatever only
all 10 levels.
Next step : now you play as level 1 character until you have collected enough exp
to directly level up to 80 .. that will give you less confusion and a much better feeling
of beeing rewarded if it happens.

So .. stats now also work like traits ? No stats each level but every 5/10 level whatever
some more .. so all the levelups are even more boring ? Maybe you should really make
a 20 then from the 80 and give us again something each level.
Not that i will ever level up a new character.
In the end all i see that i get from this feature patch is the new combat log , a nerf
of signet of rage and the removing from key-farming.
This is all really awsome and exciting.

I think thats a great item, because nobody wants “pay to win”, and for some people
paying money to save money in the long run already is “pay to win”.
Now this item is clearly a “pay to loose” item in that way .. so everyone who hates
the watchwork pick so much, should clearly buy it

While the quality of S2 is higher, its replayability is lower. The boss fight at the end of the latest chapter is one of GW2’s best, but I’ve seen it, done it and… well, that’s it.
^ This very much. And even with that awefull achievement system they won’t bring
me to do that stuff more than once.
If we at least could maybe got the achievements if we play the second time on another
character .. but even that is not possible.

I do like the new map Dry Top but it feels more like an “amusement park” and as if nothing serious with impact happened there within the story.
Yeah .. maybe permanent isn’t even really that great .. the temp content made you
play the stuff as long as it was there .. but Dry Top .. why should i go there .. i know
it will be still there in a year or whatever.
Also .. why should i farm chests now if maybe after the next patch there will be
even more things in the chests ?
What i liked most in LS2 were things like the first Queens Palace Event when we
had a lot of different stuff .. like these Ballons and Champs in different zones and
then also some zerg events .. so different stuff for different playstyles.
Or those Dragon-Staues at Dragon Bash ..

Ok .. i have to say it .. even since it seems everyone hated LS1 and likes LS2 more.
Personally i must say : I miss the LS1
I really have not much interest to play these instances more than once .. heck i
have even to force me playing them once because of all these overlong fights.
Don’t know .. but all in all i think i spent much more time on LS1 than on LS2.
I somehow like it much more to play in the open World than soloing an instance
and i really really hate these overlong fights. And in the last part we got even 2 of them.
I mean .. 10 minutes or so for a solo fight ? Heck people do complete dungeons in
that time. Worldbosses go down faster.
When people constantly ask for challenge .. i don’t think anyone of them wanted
something like that. Its not even a challenge at all if you can die and just revive
yourself at the same spot and continue the fight without the boss getting resetted.

To be fair OP, this is ANet we’re talking about.
They delivered a lot more content with less staff in Guild Wars 1.
Lets not forget GW1 only time was open world was in city hubs. Whenever you left towns it was all private instances makes producing new content a lot easier.
Doesn’t mean it can’t be that way here. It seems like the general reception of the “personal, instanced story” has been much better than LS1 where it was much more “you and one bajillion other heroes of the day stop the bad guy”.

Alas, there are more things from that game worth looking at (collections cough, tradeskills cough cough).
Guild-UI .. Crafting-UI .. and Housing
However .. no raids .. raids were why i left that game in the end.

I have 3 level 80’s atm, none of them have full world completion, and 2 have them have barely any hearts done.
hearts are boring.resetting them, won’t make them more interesting.
Have 13 80 .. the last ones have around 18-21% world completion and i rather wish
they would consolidate all those hearts and make them accoundwide .. they are
simply just a timesink because they sadly give nearly no reward.

This game is the ultimate example of the Asian “roleplaying” mentality. That change is scary and actually presenting a game that simulates roleplaying, is far less impressive, than watching the same asymmetrical outfit wearing clown in an anime movie jump around, pockmarked with menu selections.
Beat the same stupid setup until time ends. Grind, grind and grind to fight a big monster every other month, so you can get gear to grind again for better gear, to grind for better gear, so you can grind for better gear to fight a big monster that takes 18+ hours to kill. Where’d the kittening “role playing” go?Ok …
sooo you believe in what urban dictionary says?
No .. that was just the first thing i found when googling for FFXY and “grind”.
However i remember i heared about mobs that needed 30 hours to kill and that
even people in Lineage 2 called that one very grindy. And nobody can tell me
that Lineage 2 was NOT pure grind.

Problem is, the most content that they’ve released fills no purpose. EotM is 24/7 karmatrain at best and Southsun Cove is as redundant as any other PvE map.
And thats the reason why an expansion with 20 maps will also change nothing.
People consume them in 20 hours .. and then say : Give us something new ..The problem is that many players including me don’t want a level cap with a
new gear grind .. however exactly that is what makes people play all the new maps
in other MMOs with every single character .. because the NEED to do all the quests
there to get to the next level cap .. and then to gear up again. Here we can say : oh .. those maps are boring and redundant .. because there is no
need to play them .. and even with a new level cap we can still level to 90 or whatever
in Queensdale thanks to the mentoring system.you ever play guild wars 1? ffxi? both maintained one level cap throughout at least 3 expansions/campaigns.
What makes people do the content? interesting new things to do in interetsing areas, with interesting rewards.
It has been done, it can be done again. If anet is wondering how, they can PM me, i will give them free ideas.
GW1 was NO MMO. FFXwhatever .. asian grinder ?
Played Lineage 2, EQ2, AoC, RoM, Aion, LotRO, RIFT, Champions Online.
EQ2 the longest for over 4,5 years and through 4 expansions.
For the “interesting” things .. yeah didn’t they tried that in Dry Top with the insects ?
I’m still unsure if it makes more people happy or unhappy to implement more of these
RNG type things to force people to play specific content (aka making it “interesting”)
Mostly in the end you look if there is a better farming area in the new zones of the
expansion, and if there is one people change their prefered location to that map.
Oh .. or what also has been done a lot is implement faction grind in every new zone
so you can grind 20 dailies for different factions each day.

Having to hide all the lower level recipes EVERY time you launch the game is a royal pain. Preferably each character would ‘memorize’ what craft levels have been hidden, but at least the account should. Finding all of the time gated crafting every day is tedious.

feeling they maybe just skip the pick this time.

I have chop it all and frost wasp, and really don’t like frost wasp and regret buying it. It looks cool, but it has a bug or something where the character will get stuck for a second or two after the animation ends. You can end it sooner and avoid the bug, but it’s really annoying having to even think about it.

I love the gearsets for the heavy armor wearer’s but my toon wears medium armor. I noticed you have several gear sets available that are profession agnostic. Could you make ALL the gear sets profession agnostic?
Problem is .. they designed the different armor weights different. Thats mainly the line
where chest armor ends and leg armor starts. Its for example higher for medium than
for light armor.
So for this reason its simply not possible to mix and match different types of armor
without they have to rework every armor in the game.

That has really nothing to do with WoW. Lineage 2 for example was released long time
before WoW.

My first MMO was Lineage 2 .. it also had a world with no loading screens, but i
always had to put down all my graphics settings when i knew i came near the
next town .. else i got a dia-show for the next minutes .. so that was infact the
loading screen
Second MMO (and the one i played the longest) was EQ2 .. it also had loading screens
and Zones had a 100 player maximum, else we got new instances. Personally i never
had a problem with that.
Later .. RIFT worked really great without loading screens and without noticing any
loading times at all .. however i think that something like that will produce a lot of
extra traffic in the background.
In the end for me it would be “nice to have” something like in Rift, but i don’t really
have a problem with the loading screens.
Ahh .. and of course that system wouldn’t work at all with multiple instances of zones
so no Megaserver and also no Overflows.

When it comes to being a WoW clone the thing that this game did that made it try to be a WoW clone imo was making the game suddenly ALL about dungeons. That’s the problem they threw out what made this game appealing in the first place to many of us even those of us who played WoW for years and years. I bought this game specifically because they spoke like they were going in a direction AWAY from dungeons prelaunch. I never wanted to step into another LFGchannel-Pug-LFGtool-votekicking-denied-access-because-of-class-imbalance situation ever again and prelaunch interviews in which Colin laid out the plans for open world, the updates to open world to follow, and the reasons why open world was originally to be the focus (NOT DUNGEONS) was the reason why I bought GW2 in the first place. I felt it was very liberating from the old molds. But then imagine my immense disappointment when Nov 2012 came along.
I hope they have seen the errors now that I know they aren’t working on dungeons like they were due to their recent interviews, and will turn this game around.
I always wonder how many players never have read any of these interviews when they
constantly complain that we get no new dungeons ad so .. cause i also always had
the feelings that open world was the main focus, and dungeons .. yeah .. ok .. we give
you some dungeons because we must to make some people happy .. but thats it.

I always saved my armor with cultural skin and made a new one if i wanted to use

So in the end you wasted the money already before the wardrobe.
However i also wasted money because i bought some pieces 2-3 times ^^

If ANet selects, they’ll have to be prepared to weather a storm of criticism from the people who think they’re already out of touch with the community.
If you leave it up to a Forum “vote” here, then you will only be getting the opinion of the forum-goers. (Not to mention you will have to MANUALLY tally up the results, and many people will chime in multiple times. No control.)
As I suggested in the other thread:
During the Beta testing, we were given little in-game questionnaires to help you guys decide what people liked, and disliked, and what needed work. That seems like a good way to reach a nice, sizable spectrum of gamers. Do you think your little questionnaire program could be adapted to quiz the community on their desires?
You can control that each account gets to vote only ONE time. Offer a checklist of “hot topics” we’d like to see addressed. Your computers can quickly tally up what topics are the most important to the community as a whole, not just the forum-goers.
Easier. Faster. More representative.
^This
I remember they also did those things in AION now and then and i also think its
much better than just listen to the forum that not really represent the majority
of the players.

Agreed. All of their focuses and big selling points at launch have been abandoned for the living story.

To say it short and simple :
without grind / farming you have beaten a game in 2-4 weeks and then need to buy a new one ..
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I only know one spot for lemongrass .. there are 4-6 herb spots and it takes 3 minutes
to farm them .. if you can reach another instance via guesting its 6 minutes.
To farm them you need 10 characters and 2 instances .. and in the end you make maybe
8g per hour .. the same like farming mobs for T6 mats or harvest iron and platinum. So for me the price is OK.
Still the price for lemon grass and chilli pepper is ridiculously high. Around 30 silver is a lot of gold for one crafting material. Dungeon runs alone give you 1 gold and most of them take about 20-30 minutes to complete. The solution is simple:
- Make people far them OR
- Introduce more nodes so that people farm them casually.
Lemongrass is 16s not 30s .. i just had to check that .. else i would have directly went
to farm some Lemongrass again
Problem is that people always brag about how much Gold they make with dungeons
and tell all people farming isn’t worth it and they should just make dungeons and buy
everything from that.
So if you believe them you can make 20-30g per hour with dungeons why we poor
lemongrass farmers make just 8g per hour .. and in that case lemongrass should be
even more expensive .. lol

And i just checked it .. switched ascended and exotic berserker axe and damage shown
on tooltips was always the same .. only when i unequipped 1 axe the ascended did
0.35% more damage because of the little better stats.
So outside of lvl 80 zones / dungeons its simply a placebo effect.
