When a new set is released it cost 1 ticket for a while then it usually change to 3~5 tickets, there is no fixed rule to how many it will cost.
You get the tickets from the Black Lion Chest, where you can get a ticket or a scrap, the scraps you can change 10 for 1 ticket.
There is no limit on how many you can buy, but since it isn’t easy at all to get a ticket, maintain the skins rare isn’t an issue.

Dervishes did have a strong connection to the gods, but they also held a reverence to the earth and sky. Dervishes in Guild Wars 2 could have strengthen these bonds and now use them as the catalysts for their power.
Yeah, I can see a GW2 dervish using Avatar of Water or Avatar of Death instead of Avatar of Dwayna and Avatar of Grenth for example.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
An easy way to hit the pullback more often is to use it when the enemy is running away from you or going towards you, after you get more used you learn to position and move for better results.
I love my OH axe against bow rangers since they usually try to stay in higher areas and snipe you, then you just use axe #5 to reflect then axe #4 to pull the target to you, then you just destroy
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Other classes still get powers from the gods, so I don’t see why Dervish couldn’t. Even the Priests and Priestesses of Orr are still empowered by their respective gods.
Problem isn’t other classes, but other races.
In GW1 Dervishes base their power from the 5 human gods (Kormir wasn’t a god yet), I can’t see a Charr using the Avatar of Melandru as a dervish.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I use OH axe in a trap build, but I don’t really see it in a spirit build.

GW2 is kinda in a “break” right now, so for players that did pretty much everything this is a great time to also take a break and wait for the next update, for other players this is a good time to farm gold, craft your gear and get ready for the next update.
I have my legendary, my ranger have ascended gear in every slot possible (I’m looking at you aqua breather) , I was in the winning WvW server last tournament and currently tournament too (go HoD
) and finished the meta on both in the first couple weeks, now I’m logging just to maintain the daily and do a couple world bosses and guild events on weekends, then I go play another game, and waiting for the grand opening of the LS season 2.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
For WvW I use my engineer, for everything else I use my ranger, so if enjoy WvW a bit more I’ll suggest eng, otherwise go ranger.

A time ago only the daily achievement was broken, the JP itself always worked. I’m pretty sure I got a daily JP in LA a few days ago, it must be fixed now.

I think that is just a staff skin that can’t be obtained yes, and only that, just like a few other staff skins that looks like a scythe.
I doubt a new class will come to the game anytime soon, and by soon I mean the next couple years.
But … I would love to play as a Dervish in GW2, an AoE melee class with enchantments as class mechanic would be great.

When there is a sale the outfit usually stay in the store for 1 week, but again, that is not a rule so sometimes it stay for 1 day or even for a couple weeks.
Many items in the gem store are sold for a short time and rarely appear again to maintain it uniqueness and people never know when it will come back, that way when it come back players feel more tempted to buy right away instead of think “should I buy it next time?”

Stop counting tuesdays and go read a book.
…
Kidding! But seriously, it does give the impression they’re not caring about their playerbase with all this silence, no official announcement…
Actually, not a bad advice, there are 3 GW2 books and they aren’t bad.
Ghost of Ascalon, Edge of Destiny and Sea of Sorrows.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
There is no fixed time or rotation for those sales, it can be next month or next year or anything in between.

I’m pretty sure that a message popup for the person that joined you asking if he wants to get credit for that personal story step, if both are in the same step, he probably clicked in “not get credit”.

My math is not that good. Can someone help me to balance between power, precision and ferocity, please?
Many thanks!
It is kinda easy.
Depending in your crit damage you’ll use one of the 3 graphs, if you have between 80~105% crit damage (230~255% in your window after the update) you’ll use the 3rd graph.
In the 3rd graph you see that around 1.3~1.5 power to precision ratio is the best return of your damage, you get the ratio by making power/precision (I.E 2500 power / 1800 precision = 1.38 ratio), your goal is to have the ratio exactly at the zero line

If you AoE, each target you hit may proc the sigil, but after you hit 1 it will enter in cooldown, so yes it procs but only 1 of the targets at the same time.

if I used a poison and it put a (im guessing here) condition of “poison” would my condition damage apply to every DoT(damage over time) poison “condition”?
Correct, and even if you get a damage bonus (like might for example) after you caused poison, the DoT currently in the target will get increased.
In GW2 there are some different types of conditions that cause damage, those are: bleed, poison, burning, confusion and torment.
The status condition damage increase the damage caused per “tick” of those conditions.
You can add multiple stacks of each condition, but some of them stack in intensity (bleed, confusion and torment) and others only in time (poison and burning), for example:
Bleed stack in intensity, so if 1 tick of bleed cause 100 damage, and you apply 5 stacks of bleed, you’ll cause 500 damage per tick.
Poison stack in time, so if you added a stack of poison for 5 seconds and then another stack of 3 seconds the target will be poisoned for 8 seconds.
There is also the stat condition duration it increase the time your conditions stay in the target, that way making easier to cause more dame with the intensity stacking conditions.
Now the bad part of condition damage in GW2 is that a target can only have 25 stacks of each condition globally, that mean if a party of 5 is attacking a boss and all the 5 members can cause 15 stacks of bleed, that would be 15*5=75 stacks but from those, 50 stacks will be simply discarded, so condition builds is only good when you are playing alone or when you are the only player in a group doing it.

I have some recorded, buts it’s not edited so it would be just raw spvp footage, I could probably upload it this weekend
I personally prefer raw videos of PvP matches and WvW over edited ones with music and stuff, unless the youtuber makes some good comments over edit.

Rangers is limited in AoE options, but it is kinda ok, mesmers are in worse position for that matter.
As a ranger you can have a quite good AoE selection, 3 traps, torch #5, axe #5, entangle elite, bows with piercing arrow, LB #5.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
So having a disucssion on how to get the best possible defensive setup while in full zerker would be a waste too, because zerker gear is for full DPS and defense is irrelevant when using it? No.
Actually yes, it would be a waste.
I would consider a waste read a topic about a build to be a WvW bunker wearing full zerker set, like a 0/0/4/4/6 build with full zerker or something.
EDIT: The OP is showing a burst damage (SotW + behind + full HP + full endurance + night time + RF) and still that is a kinda low burst and after that the raw power wouldn’t make it a good DPS.
He is suggesting a power focused build in a defensive set and not a bunker build with power damage, those are 2 different things.
From your analogy, a bunker build with zerker gear is a waste, a power zerker build with defensive options would be a good idea.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
(edited by Belzebu.3912)
I think most of us got the idea, the thing is it is just pointless.
I wouldn’t make a topic to try to show the max damage I can make in a Givers set because it is just pointless, a power/bunker build in all soldiers isn’t a good idea, and try to squeeze the most of it without a good context like “I challenged myself to only play soldiers”, “I propose a only soldiers tournament” or something like that.
If go full soldiers is your only option because of reasons, then ok, that build isn’t bad, if you have the option to change something then please do.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I think I am going to lose the will to live if one more person comes here and says “You can do more damage if you take full zerker@!££!!!!”.
Alright, I’ll change a bit the text, OP can cause more damage with Dire set, even with some Knight/Soldier his damage could get better with almost no reduction of survivability and still be power base.
EDIT: A mix of Zealot and Cleric would be a better power/bunker gear set
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
(edited by Belzebu.3912)
Yes I agree, that 9k is really really low, and that build with GS wouldn’t make much of a difference.
EDIT: I think I really misunderstood, I thought you were defending his build saying that the GS is what would cause good damage.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
But both a cond ranger and warrior can have a even better survivability with similar to better damage.
Also most of his multipliers are very situational, he’ll have a significant damage only at night, with almost full health, behind the enemy and full endurance, and in a tiny window where SotW is active, after that count with basically only GS raw damage isn’t really productive.
I don’t see that build doing any good as a roamer or in a zerg, he seems like an average meat shield with average (at best) damage with no utilities at all.
He doesn’t have healing enough to keep his HP full, he could change a bit of vit and add precision, with that he would rise his DPS by a lot and it would compensate the small power decrease from NM V.

Most PvP tracks are repeatable, there is an icon in the left of the track showing if it is repeatable or not.
I’m not sure if it scales with the player level, I think it does.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
The real problem is not only the low damage, I don’t find much survivability, emphatic bond is the only cond. removal and 1 stun breaker, no healing power, the HP is not that high, the armor is good, not even signet of stone to get a bit of invulnerability.
That 9k damage is an all-in trick, if the target dodge/block you’ll cause an even worse damage for a good while.

1. What role does the ranger fulfill best for tPvP, WvW, fractals?
tPvP rangers are great to hold home and help mid with either spirit or trapper builds.
fractals I don’t really know, besides spotter and frost spirit I don’t see rangers bringing anything else others couldn’t do better.
2. What advantage does the melee ranger have over the thief and Mesmer?
WvW, PvP, PvE?
Melee ranger in general is great, if you keep your pet alive (PvP and most PvE is easy) your damage will be really high with even higher mobility with SW #2 and #3 and dagger #4.
3. Is the ranger less squishy than the thief?
Way less, ranger have mid HP pool, pets helps mitigate the damage, and easy access to regens.
4. Has the community’s perspective of the ranger improved since the feature patch?
Nope, or at best barely changed.
5. Has any of the new GM traits allowed for newer effective builds?
Survival of the Fittest is a really good option for some PvP builds.

Enter the Edge of the Mists, usually there are karma trains there, and while you are getting karma you also get WvW ranks.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You realize that with all those damage modifiers in a zerker gear or close to it, you could get close to 9k auto attacks instead of a full rapid fire, right?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I don’t have a Norn thief (I have a ranger and mesmer though) and the personality depends on how you see your character, like, a thief could use the charisma to get the info he wants if he is more of a spy, can use the dignity if your thief is more of a “robin hood”, can use ferocity is he tends more into the assassin archetype.
Also along the way you can mix them, if you use charisma + ferocity you get the “scoundrel” personality, and so on.

ascended gear and ascended level swappable stats on legendaries are hardly mere “vanity” things.
Yes they are. vanity
The majority of the owners of a legendary do it for the skin, and ascended set gives a really small advantage over exotics, asc weapons gives a little bit more compared to exotic weapons, and asc trinkets are really easy to get.

@OP I’ll tell you about a game that I used to play called FlyFF, I played that for 3 years.
- During those 3 years I only played 1 class and I never reached the max level, and I played around 2~3 hours a day leveling 90% of the time. I reached level 112 Master.
- You only have a quest every 5 levels and each quest gives about 10% of a level, the rest of the 4 levels and 90% need to be by pure grind
- At higher levels quests the developers wasn’t even trying anymore, the NPC that gives the quests had the following text “Get me 100 <insert drop name> for me. Don’t ask me why.”, and that was not only 1 quest with that text.
About weapons and armors: - Every weapon and armor can get up to +10 and after +3 if you fail to upgrade you lose your item, and to get +10 it is 0.5% chance to get it, weapons after +10 you can make it “ultimate” and that is another 0.5% change, after that you can try to reach ultimate +10 and the chances get even lower up to 0.01% and all that if you don’t buy an item from the cash shop to prevent the item to break (no success guaranteed, only prevent breaking) you won’t get it, and the items to even try to upgrade is expensive.

Cond damage is currently in a weird spot, very strong in PvP and really bad in PvE.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I’m in the same boat as you, 8 toons to open the new traits.
Unfortunately you need to either camp the maps, or have friends/guildmates to tell you when a temple event is going on.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Nah, I was just curious, I also don’t have the tribal set (I have the medium set though) and own most PvE skins from the LS.
I think that those skins should still be “acquireable” via PvP only, from the chests in the PvP tracks for example.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
But the PvE ones was explicit told that was temporary and the player had the option to do it or not, the PvP only skins was never announced as temporary.
Also, crafting it with wolf tokens wasn’t guaranteed, right? I was never much of a pvp player (now I’m rank 18), the skins I have was from the AP chests.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
On why you would want to “stay this way”.
Like, people that was lucky to get the armor from pvp before have the skin and new players or people that wasn’t pvp players never be able to get it?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I know your pain, my main source of income in game was farming nodes in FS, I had 6 lvl 80 toons parked there + my main toon, I checked gw2nodes to find the best node layout and usually in 15~20 mins I could get 3~4 nodes per toon, now it will take WAY longer, not making it a viable way to make gold.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Un-check the “Emotes” from the map chat box, problem solved.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
The only problem I see is one that always existed, that is Karma and WvW gear not be salvageble, if it were then you could salvage the gear and get the runes, so again IMO there is nothing to be “fixed”, but a new feature would help the players with expensive runes in un-salvageble gear.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
The size is the same, what they changed is how the camera scale to the character.
Before the update the came was in a fixed position no matter if you were a tiny asura or the tallest norn, so when you zoomed in with a tall character the screen would be filled with your body so you had to zoom out to be able to play, now the camera scale up so if you are the tallest norn and zoom in the camera will cut off even higher so you can see more of the field.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I’m starting to understand Theo.
From the maps he said he complete he picked a Norn, joined the Priory and decided to help the grawl, he completed all the maps the Personal Story sent him to.
Well, to help you get a bit more immerse and make the leveling have more sense, you probably received at least 2 mails, one saying that Rytlock is trying to save Eir in the Ascalon Catacombs (in the Plains of Ashford) and another to help Logan in the Caudecus’s Manor (in Queensdale), those are good reasons to complete those 2 maps and also do the story mode of both dungeons.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yes, Anet initial idea was personal condition stacks, but the servers doesn’t the the computational power to handle that, so they made the cap.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
So, what you are saying is, I can no longer transmute runes/stats onto another piece of armor? wow that really sucks. I have 6 Eagle Runes I need to get off a temple set of armor. kitten , should have done that before the update. I hope Anet fixes this. I dont’ want to buy a whole new set of expensive runes
The problem is that there is nothing broken to be “fixed”, they just removed that feature.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
From what I’m understanding, from what you guys are saying, is that the ranges don’t represent the content, only the appropriate level ranges for the zone. So, if you are somewhere from 40-50, you will find something there at your level. NOT that it will get you from 40-50 going through the zone.
Exactly.
Also, there are times, using your example, a Priory person ask you to get the help of someone in the Ascalon or get information in Kryta, in those moments it would be a good time to complete the map.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
WvW =/= PvP
WvW you keep all your PvE gear/stats and fight as a group against another server, it gives a good amount of exp/karma and in the Edge of the Mists (not Heart of the Mists) you can get a lot of champion bags.
Also, the Personal story makes you go to different maps, you can complete the maps that your PS makes you go, that will make a bit more sense during leveling, also you’ll want to get 100% map completion eventually, complete maps while leveling makes it less “grindy”.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
How to be epic with sword AA:
Enter wvw and join a blob. Pref EBG
Turn off auto attack on #1 skill
Make sure you never select a target, ever, while i combat.
When your blob meets another blob. Activate RAO and spam 1111111111111111111111
Use the mouse to change direction as you fly around the battle, tagging chunks of enemies all over. Ps using QZ makes it even more fun
Weird … that effect is one of the reasons I don’t like to use sword, my axe with fire+air do a very similar work with less risk.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
That is why there are multiple maps of the same level range, you are meant to complete sereval maps of the same level, in your case you can go to the Blazeridge Steppes (40~50), that is how the game was designed, you can also do some dungeons, crafting also help a lot with leveling.
EDIT: Oh, you can also join in WvW battles, Edge of the Mists is very friendly for lower level characters, look for a commander tag (the blue taco icon :P ) and follow it.
