You could have stayed, tried your best, and actually learned something from the experience.

But you deliberately went afk during a rated match. They reported an afker.

I see no problem here.

No, he’s not. OP stated that he entered by accident, and had every intention of leaving as soon as the verbal bashing began. Why on earth should he help a group that’s verbally tearing him a new one?

I saw a dev post on this, and if I remember correctly you are perfectly fine with reporting them for LFG abuse, especially since that’s not what the tool was meant to be used for. I believe that’s why the use of it for such has gone down.

The new Wardrobe was introduced while you were out. Sign in with every character, visit the PvP area so as to unlock any skins you may have had in the PvP locker. Also, with each of your characters, visit the Black Lion Armorsmith. The NPC will unlock any town clothes you had on each character, either as everlasting tonics, or in the case of your Winter’s Day suit, it will be unlocked as an outfit and be available to all of your characters. You should do this with all your characters so that anything they may have had gets converted one way or the other. Some pieces even became armor skins.

9/9 Patch, A Critique

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Berelious.3290

Berelious.3290

Malkavian, I believe that the heart continuity issue is likely the same as the LS continuity issue, in that NPC’s are programed to immediately assume a certain task has been accomplished. I’ll admit, I’m not sure which hearts your specifically referring to, but here’s an example.

In the LS, DE 2.0 and many story NPC’s immediately assume that you have the rank of Commander in the Pact, and have already defeated Zhaitan, even if, with that particular character, you haven’t even finished your personal story. This may be the same with the hearts in question.

9/9 Patch, A Critique

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Berelious.3290

Berelious.3290

There were many good and many not-so-good facets to this most recent feature patch, and a few that fell in the middle.

- Commander Tags
Making these account bound and allowing the owners to change colors is a good move. However, I do believe that an option to turn viewing off in PvE areas would be a good idea. I do know that it’s possible to reduce the number viewed by joining a squad, and that does help with the issue a bit. However, during legit PvE events in which commander tags are used (such as guild missions) others in the map may not appreciate having to deal with a few dozen commander tags suddenly appearing on the map.

-Trading Post
This is, by far, the best feature update. The search filters are absolutely amazing and being able to fully search by category is a huge boon. In truth, I can only find one fault with the system, and that is it is now impossible to instantly sell items in your inventory quickly, as the system defaults to “listing” your items rather than selling to a buyer. Perhaps this system was put in place to help negate the buy offers that are for less than what the item is valued at, but when running something fast paced (such as WvW) people want to sell on the fly to clear their inventories and will not be able to do so.

-Early Leveling System
There is a lot of controversy about this. According to ANet developers most of the level gating that has been introduced was not intentional. Assuming this is true, I hope that it will be fixed soon, as it does indeed impede the leveling experience over all. That being said, the “intended” leveling features, such as making it easier to level to 15 and removing some of the complexity of the starting areas, while perhaps a bit along the lines of “spoon-feeding,” I do not feel seriously impact game play.

-Personal Story Breakdown
I honestly feel that certain aspects of this were unnecessary, particularly where the next chapters are unavailable until you hit the level requirement. That being said, the revamped reward system IS a plus and hopefully will encourage people to play through the Personal Story rather than abandoning it once they’ve done it on at least one character.

The level gating is the thing. Whether or not it was an intended feature or unintended bug, I do agree that it’s an issue that should be addressed as quickly as humanly possible.

That being said, I appreciate ANet’s efforts to bring it’s players the best game around. For the most part I find myself liking this patch, and hope that the developers continue to work on behalf of the player base and improve/expand on this great game.

Everyone will have different opinions on this, but here is mine. If you can’t seem to choose a weapon type and aren’t sure if that stat combo will be overly helpful, you can always make it an Aquatic weapon. I think most people will agree with me that Aquatic weapons tend to feel under-powered and that the fight mechanics underwater can be difficult to master, so any Ascended Aquatic weapon is a huge step up, no matter what the stats.

The only thing you can do about them and others like them is block/report. Because they change up how their text comes across every time the spam flood doesn’t catch them. Blocking and reporting will insure that the account gets banned and (assuming it’s stolen, which it usually is) returned to it’s rightful owner.

Also, there have been several hundred posts like this one and they, like this one will be, have all been closed because discussing gold sellers on the forums is against the forum rules.

Somoe, I was not in any way, shape, or form defending the Silver SOM. I assure you I can perform basic math. I was simply pointing out that due to lack of immediate access to MF stones (either from achievements or because they don’t want to get them from the gem store) that this would be a more attractive alternative to new players (hence my argument that it and the sale in general is geared more towards them)

I posted a response in regards to this in another thread but I’ll paste it here.

"

I did some serious thinking about this item in particular, and about the 10 day sale in general, and I’ve come to the conclusion that the whole sale, in particular the silver SOM, is NOT in fact geared towards veteran players. Stop and think about this for a moment. As far as the weapon and armor skins currently on sale, as well the permanent harvesting tools, have already been purchased by veteran players who wanted them when they were previously available. I say “most” because obviously there have been people who missed them or were unable to purchase them when they were available (such as Rox’s Quiver).

Now, particularly in regards to the Silver SOM, the argument has been that a mystic salvage kit accomplishes the job nicely, and at little to no cost to the players making them. This is true, IF the player is a veteran. Most veteran players who’ve been at this for a year or more probably have a stack or three of mystic forge stones sitting in their banks just from achievement rewards and daily/monthly awards. However, people who have only been playing for, oh say, the last six months, will have few MF stones if any, and many of those that might have them won’t have a clue as to what to do with them. The Silver SOM would then seem like a good idea to them, since they wouldn’t have to take up valuable storage space for a bunch of 25 count master salvage kits.

It all comes down to demographics. This sale, by-in-large, is mostly not meant for veteran players, but the new and relatively new ones. Not that veteran players shouldn’t take advantage of it should they have missed something."

“We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary. On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013. Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/

That is why people still go on about this. Over a year later and I’ve not seen any more on the subject but have not been playing or following forums/announcements prior to living story season 2 so may have just missed stuff. But if nothing more has been mentioned about this update I can perfectly understand why people go on about this and are not happy.

Surely an explanation as to why this has been dropped/forgotten about/delayed is owed to the players after failing to deliver this when every other feature in that announcement was implemented into the game long ago.

From Mark Katzbach in March of this year:

“We want to let you know that the ability to build your precursor will not be in our upcoming Feature Pack. The way progression and rewards work in Guild Wars 2 have changed quite a bit since we initially talked about that feature, and our main horizontal progression systems are about to get some additional updates in the upcoming feature pack. Because of that, we are looking into several ways to integrate building your precursor into our new updated reward and progression systems we’re working on, which is requiring additional development time and iteration. As always, we’ll share details on this system once it’s far enough along in production we’re ready to discuss it.”

We should probably take that last bit as an indication that we won’t be finding out ANY info about it until it’s actually released.

Thank you Alpha, I knew that was out there somewhere I just haven’t been able to find it.
