I feel I should throw this out there, because for some reason it always seems to catch people by surprise.

When HoT launches, despite the beta weekend events to help iron out such issues, there will be bugs. There will be lots of bugs, some of them may even be game breaking. This is an inevitable occurrence, and should be expected by every single player in the game. At the time of launch ANet will have ironed out every one that they are aware of, but as we should all know by now there will be things that appear on the live servers that can’t and won’t show up on their test servers.

These should not be considered ANet’s fault. These should not be considered an insult to the player base. That being said, there will be people who will think otherwise. They will be angry, either because of their initial excitement or because they’re arrogant and self-entitled perfectionists that have no idea what goes into the development of such games as Guild Wars 2.

Temper your excitement and your expectations.

At last check it wasn’t a high priority. As for making your own program, I strongly advise against it, as such a program would be against the games terms of use and would result in the termination of your account.

Are you referring to the skin? If so, it’s a regional weapon. Each region has their own skin styles that will drop in multiple grades. And yes, it’s partly so you’ll unlock the skin in your wardrobe and possibly use it later.

Other than the occasional FPS do any PC games even have VOIP? I’ve yet to hear of an MMO that has one.

ANet never gives a set time for the launch of anything, in case there are any last minute issues. It will launch sometime in the 24 hour period on the 23rd. Keep in mind, it will be pacific time.

I’m also having connection issues. Can’t even update.

Given what we’ve seen in Beta’s so far, I have to question the 250 point final count. So far, all interactive points of power have been for mastery points, not hero points. I’m also curious as to a final count, but I believe that 250 is way too high.

Ash, I work a night shift on weekends. I’ve also missed the first two beta weekends and will likely miss this one too. Why? Because I’ll either be working or sleeping. And I live in the US. ANet can’t cater their schedule to every player. It’s impossible. Take some comfort in the fact that both you and your wife will still be able to play the finished product whenever you like.

It’s a very rare occurrence when I don’t get at least one per day.

If I remember correctly they can not buy or sell any ascended crafting materials either.

They will be adding ascended aqua-breather recipes in HoT.

I currently have a full set of Ascended Soldier/Sentinel gear ready for my Revenant, along with the scrolls/tomes needed to insta-80. The only thing I’m lacking is ascended aquatic head gear. I’ll have to wait till launch for that.

Is there any way that Revenant could get a second ranged weapon? Currently the only ranged weapon is the hammer. I’m not particular about what it could be, but I believe that a second ranged weapon is in order. All of the other professions have alternates.

On top of Inculpatus cedo’s reasoning, there are financial reasons as well. ArenaNet owns both data centers in the US and in Germany. To set up Oceanic servers, ANet would have to purchase property, build/renovate a building, purchase and set up servers, then hire staff to tend the hardware. That is a HUGE financial burden to undertake.

I’ve still got items from when the game launched. I’m also curious as to whether they will have any value other than sentimental.

Some Guild Wars veterans may remember some promotional weapons from the first game. These include the Spiritbinder, Hourglass, and Soulshrieker staves, Glacial Blade sword, Dragon Fang daggers, Darksteel and Nevermore bows, Serrated shield, Wolf’s Favor focus, Tiger’s Roar wand, and Rhino’s Charge hammer. Is there any chance these might make a comeback either as weapons or weapon skins?

[Edit] I’d like to further suggest some of the armor skins, such as the Glacial, Destroyer, Chaos, and Dragon Gauntlets.

I have 15 characters, all but 2 of which are at 80. Make as many as you want, there’s nothing wrong with it.

The game isn’t region locked, so I see no reason why this wouldn’t work.

Last year’s Halloween event is a good example. Almost a carbon copy of the year before, no change in story, only a few new item rewards. It wasn’t bad, but could have been a lot better.

And the next one that comes out will be the worst ever, and then the one after that will be the worst ever, and then the one after that, and the one after that… seems to be an on-going thing for some people. I won’t be participating because I either have the available rewards already or didn’t want them to begin with. That being said, this is a far cry from being the worst thing ever.

Multiple reasons. First, security. Having a central trading post makes it extremely difficult if not impossible for scams to occur during trade. Scamming has always been one of the biggest issues in a player-to-player trade system.

Second, convenience. Players can list or sell items from anywhere in the game. They do not have to gather at a central location to buy/sell/trade their items, and don’t have to wait for said items to become available. They also don’t have to spend time hawking their wares when they could be spending that time playing.

These are the two biggest reasons, and to be honest the small gold-sink fee that goes with the trading post system is more than worth it.

I’m a US player… and I work nights, including weekends, 11PM-7AM. I will be either sleeping or working through most of this beta. I will play when I can though. Seriously, even for those in the US, there is no way they can make this work around everybody.

Please note that I do NOT know how this is being done, but apparently there are at least two bugs in AC that allow groups to do multiple paths without resetting the dungeon. One lets the group “skip” over to a second path after the first is completed. The other somehow activates all three NPC’s at once. I have reason to believe that this is being exploited regularly.

Actually there are quite a few back items that are relatively cheap to make. That being said, legendary back items are coming, and you can change stats on them to your hearts content.

I created a free to play account just to try things out. I was able to select my home server at first log-on. Granted I wasn’t able to select the one I wanted because it was full, but I was able to pick from all other available servers, both on NA and EU. If he deletes all characters, I believe he’s still able to switch servers.

From my perspective Angel, what you’re doing is basically the same as selling a path in Arah. As someone who has bought paths in Arah, I can safely say that I see nothing wrong with the practice so long as it isn’t abused and the prices are reasonable. There are always going to be people who have difficulty with certain content. If you’re willing to help out, even for a fee, I see no issue with it. And thank you for offering such a service!

Despite an article saying otherwise, people are under the mistaken impression that ALL precursors and legendaries will become account bound when HoT launches, hence the spike in price. The reality is that only the second generation precursors and legendaries will be account bound.

I know the big hype is for the release date, and I’m as psyched as everybody else is, but here’s a question… what does this do for Halloween? Will they recycle the last couple years or will there be a new celebration in LA?

Actually they had a second reason for disabling guild functions, that being they didn’t want people using their personal guild banks to transfer gear from beta characters. It was probably easier for them to disable all guild functions than to pick and choose.

Along this line of thought, ANet has posted pictures of each elite specialization having unique weapon and armor skins. Does anyone think these will be unlocked with the specialization or will they be earned in game?

And this means absolutely nothing, zilch, bupkis. With the expansion still in development and being beta tested, we have no idea if more maps are coming, or if the maps datamined will even be kept. Until an announcement is made we have nothing but speculation, and badly interpreted speculation at that.

Seriously, where are people getting the idea that there will only be 3 maps? I’ve looked extensively and have yet to find anything even remotely close to this. All I’ve found so far is ANet saying that maps will have 3 explorable layers. How does this translate to there only being 3 maps?

No, there will be an entirely new series of legendary equipment introduced in HoT. However, you will still be able to “craft” the series 1 legendary precursors as well as currently existing methods.

The current set of legendary/precursor weapons will still be trade-able, even those that can be “made” with masteries. Any new legendary/precursor equipment coming with the release f HoT will be account bound and thus will have to be completely earned. They did this so as not to overly affect the market.

If you got the Beta version of WinAuth that could be your problem as well. Try the older version.

Is this still obtainable from the giant winter’s day gifts? I want to get my hands on one but I don’t want to blow the gold if it won’t drop.
