Let me know when you get those same low results for a week or two. Then I might consider not telling you that it’s RNG.
Because it is. One bad day means absolutely nothing.
Typically, updates have happened at “some general time on that day.”
I realize that I should have been more studious in making sure I finished the achieve before logging off, and I’m not saying it’s anyone’s fault but my own; my point here is that it’s frustrating as hell for this to happen, and quite possibly is not a good model for how to do future content.
I’m hoping that ArenaNet rethink this. It’s very, very demotivational. I’m always going to be 4/5 and missing that achievement. I’m far less interested in even bothering with future content now, because what if it happens again?
I don’t know about you, but 0/5 would bother me more than 4/5.
impossible? why? o_O
lvl 80-81 fractals video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP0avYvVGX8
That video was posted on January 30, which is, I believe, a date prior to the time when the de facto level 50 limit was imposed.
I agree that coordinating to get the Crab Toss achievements is silly if someone wants to play normally, but you’re certainly going too far by suggesting those people are exploiting.
i like to lol at people who complain about someone doning something they would never even fathom being in their skill set, or even attempting.
im just waiting to play your mmo’s.
I think this is a flawed argument in this case. If someone doesn’t have a particular skill, they should still be able to criticize those who have the skill but perform poorly. That sentiment is valid when someone is performing a service for another for altruistic reasons.
Fantastic. It’s actually an achievement.
Keep it.
I don’t think anyone knows.
Not if he means he feels obligated to run dungeons because that’s the only means given him to achieve his goals end game, thus limiting choice, thus not being casual because running dungeons is usually a stressfilled experience, I know it is for me. All choices for gameplay style leading to the same end game experience.
…
That’s all this thread was about really is it’s not casual because it doesn’t cater to the gather/farmer/RP style players enough
I assume you mean that he feels obligated to run dungeons because he wants money. There are other ways in the game to earn money, even if they aren’t as quick. Thus, his choice is not limited by gameplay style. There’s a time imbalance, which is another issue, and one that I am not going to defend.
What I will say is that correlating farming with casual play seems odd to me. That seems to be the crux of your problem: that the casual player can’t farm quickly enough. I suppose I just don’t understand the need of a “casual player” to farm quickly for money. It seems paradoxical. Perhaps we have different versions of the term “casual.”
urgh, the hell how you made all dat money XD seems like people have a magic hat to get those kitten precursor i barely get over 50g before spending ALL
Sounds like that might be your problem. :p
Thanks to the above posters. I’m eventually going to compile the information you’ve given me, and hope we can get a sticky to once and for all end the whole loot debate.
I hope you don’t consider posts like ajm.2931’s useful. It’s completely anecdotal with no reliable data.
People forget what the definition of casual actually is. Relaxed and unconcerned. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I feel obligated to participate in dungeons to earn as much money as people that play for 10 hours a day and I DO NOT get the “relaxed” feeling when I have to play for 3 hours or more to actually accomplish something. I have not seen Anet implement a single casual activity to do since the game was released. FoTM, Guild Missions, Ascended gear, all of those things are for hardcore players. And, if you disagree, think about the ways to get ascended gear. 30 laurels, which is 30 days of playing. 30 days is a ridiculous amount of time for a “casual” player. Guild Missions, which require massive amounts of time to organize, again, not a casual activity. Fractals, is the longest dungeon in GW2 and requires the most time. Tell me again how GW2 is made for casual players.
Dailies are for casuals, they take 20 minutes. Most of the living story was for casuals too. Did you even do the instances that happened in the month before the end dungeon was released. Each instance takes less than half an hour and can be soloed. SAB could certainly be enjoyed by casuals. The christmas jumping puzzle and music game, enjoyed by casuals too. The halloween minidungeon, easy to enjoy for casuals.
I’m not sure why you think nothing has been released for casuals, when so much of it has been.
He’s most likely talking about what I’m talking about permanent new open world content. all of that other stuff is not permanent. the living story is not permanent, the holidays are not permanent.
What the world is wrong with folks, can’t see the forest…
Galtrix you’re right. but don’t expect people to understand. All play styles leading to the same end game results equally.
Saying casual means “relaxed and unconcerned” and then immediately saying he feels obligated to farm dungeons seems pretty hypocritical if he’s claiming to be casual.
posts a thread about all the ways that GW2 is not casual….
gets this reaction.
Not exactly. What you got (from me, at least) were facts that you conveniently ignored.
Also other games have tons of dailies. The dailies in Guild Wars 2 are severally casual. To do all the dailies in Rift would take you a whole lot longer than to do all the dailies in Guild Wars 2. And in Guild Wars 2, most of them you can get just by playing normally.
Dailies in GW2 aren’t the same thing, because they aren’t quests and with the requirements that some on the list they have they do sometimes require an entire day to finish due to the requirements they impose. We were supposed to have more of a choice now randomly not being able to finish dailies because suddenly the game decides to have all dungeons/FotM/WvW/150 invaders suddenly. Still not casual and others have attested to this when they first allowed us to choose, it wasn’t enough of a choice/should never have been randomized.
Did you misspeak or are you implying that daily quests include running all dungeons, every fractal, and killing 150 invaders in WvW? Each of those is completely false.
No there are some days tho that objectives that one must wait hours on (like meta bosses) and dungeon/WvW focused content are the only things that popup (ie there aren’t 5 open world items one can do in at most an hour and a half to complete the daily). Which means the daily takes about 8 hours to complete on those days and the “choice” of not doing them is unacceptable as a possible solution.
Take a look at the table. It shows the complete daily choices from the last fourteen days. Upon inspection, I see on each day five choices that have nothing at all to do with group events, dungeons, or WvW content. Which of the five non-group event, dungeon, or WvW daily items each day takes you so long to complete? Maybe I can give you some tips.

Are you sure that you’ve uncovered every explorable area in the game? Browse the map and see if you find any numbers (representing recommended levels) over unexplored parts of the map.
Alternatively, you could compare the zones you’ve uncovered with the complete list: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorable_area
And no, there are no hearts in WvW.
This part is VERY specific, and definitely not always true. Again, like I stated before and showed in the pic, people have to do research. Because it will not always be like this. So it isn’t really one sided, there are far more examples of both instances being true, so its best to always check if you want to be the most efficient and profitable.
Isn’t it extremely easy to check, though? Can you not just hover over the picture of the item in question to see its vendor value? It seems as if this “research” takes nearly zero effort or time.
Warriors are very useful everywhere, one guardian is very useful almost everywhere and one mesmer is useful almost everywhere. Situational Eles are very useful. Thieves are nice too but don’t bring much to the party in fights. Rangers, Engineers and Necros just suck. I’d rather go with an open spot than taking a ranger, anytime, everywhere.
You’d rather 4-man a dungeon than take a ranger? Do you think they actually have a net negative effect on the group?
It’s an issue that has been around for months now. One of the reasons many people no longer play the mini game.
And it is cheating, a very clear case of exploiting. It involves using an ability in mid air and rotating the camera in a certain way to target much much further than the skill is intended to be used.
No it does not.
Why are you spreading misinformation? The skill has nothing to do with ‘mid-air’. It’s just using one of the skills as intended.
Most people don’t bother to actually learn how the skills work and so they think one of them is broken. No skills in Keg Brawl are broken, and if you think they are then you’re not playing properly.
Of course whenever people don’t know how to play- a subset will (instead of learning how to play) start accusing other people of cheating. Keg Brawl has been modified multiple times since launch, to pretend that a core skill is somehow ‘unintended’ is a joke.
Things may have changed since this was posted, but the skill 1, “Throw,” which reads “A short, quick throw that is easily intercepted” and has stated range 400 can throw the keg across the entire map. That seems like the worst tooltip ever or an exploit.
I apologize. I was doing practice mode to get a feel for the “issue.” It seems as if practice mode has the first two skills switched and with stated ranges. In game, this is not the case.

There is that one decent one on my Guard…well…kinda.
There is? My guardian wants to know which one. ^^ I use Renewed Focus because I tried the other 2 and they seemed to be overwhelmingly underwhelming. And then that long cooldown starts.
They should make the elite slot capable of holding utility skills. It would be more useful then.
Seconded. I often find myself wishing I could use a fourth utility instead of the elite.
let’s……. pause and analyze here. someone is doing a giveaway. meaning, they’re taking something that they have, and giving it to people. apparently in the form of a contest. i.e. they’re being generous. for there to be 20+ people, what they’re giving away has to be pretty nice, since there’s that many responses. i’d wager something along the lines of a precursor, or perhaps even a legendary itself. i.e. they’re being VERY generous.
Legendary? I bet saying “First 20 people to say ‘1’ get 10 silver” in Lion’s Arch would garner over 20 responses.
We had a situation where a big guild were scouting all the bounties, having half a dozen at EACH target then would roll the bounty. They asked us and anyone who engaged the bounty not to engage the target even though we had activated already. Out of respect, we chose not to grief them over it, but we ended up failing the bounty. And then subsequent attempts as we never found the target (and map chat ppl were trolling the location in other zones which wasn’t helpful).
Respect? Why did they deserve respect? They were griefing you, not the other way around.
Tauren and Charr are pretty much opposite of eachother… COMPLETE opposite..
The only thing they have in common is fur -.-C’mon man. The models are very similar. One has a bull face, one has a cat face, both with horns. Body types are so similar that most people will instantly think of the Tauren when they see a Charr. Yeah I know the lore is different, I’m talking about the look of the character.
Is this what you’re concerned with overall, the looks of characters? If so, do you really want 10 humanoid races? I’m sure many feel differently, but that’s just mind numbingly boring. Part of the fun of playing fantasy is to get away from real life, no?
I’ve yet to be kicked from a dungeon and I do tons of pug dungeons. I realize that there are people out there that grief. I also think that it should take 3 votes instead of 2 to kick. However, if you’re getting kicked from every other dungeon, I think you need to objectively look at your performance and/or behavior.
Its not my performance, the problem is im usually the one guiding people thru the dungeons telling them what to do (only after theyve died/wiped multiple times)
A lot of people don’t like getting told what to do, keep in mind i do this in a respectful way.
Its not me trust me.
I wonder if your “telling them what to do” is what’s getting you kicked. As others have said before, people don’t like to be told what to do. Even if you don’t mean to be pushy or offensive, they may take your style that way. Try playing some dungeons without talking much.
^Actually it does make sense because it’s his opinion and that’s how he/she feels, as do I. You don’t have to get all hot and bothered about it lol.
No, it doesn’t make sense. Believe it or not, opinions can and often are nonsensical. “GW is better than GW2 because it allowed me to set personal goals” is nonsense. “The game was made by suits, not gamers” is nonsense.
You’re missing a very important point, it’s how he or she feels, the person wasn’t stating it as fact, so it very much does make sense. Get off your high horse
and learn what an opinion is. Keyword “to me” go and re-read the post.
I’d argue that what a person feels, or emotions, are very often irrational and nonsensical. Additionally, where did you find a definition of “opinion” that included “making sense?”
It’s totally up to you to fill that void. There’s content for it.
How are they not a different race?
In this game, I believe “race” should actually read “species.”
Zero.
Could we please get an official response if this is an intended nerf or an overlooked mistake?
It is neither. It just takes time to build these items and there is a huge amount of stuff on our list of things to do. We aren’t done adding stat combos. We will continue to add them as we have time to do so. With this batch, we wanted to even out the spread of primary stats and we already had a lot of stats with Power or Condition Damage as primary (more than any other, in fact), but I’ll be sure to get Valkyrie and Carrion into the next batch.
Thank you very much for answering this, I can happily play and save up for new carrion gear now! Can I push my luck and ask if there is a rough guestimate for when the next batch is going in?
My guess is the end of March.
Some people keep suggesting to “buy the influence”. Sure if I was in a big guild too (and liked to stay there) I could go around post "easy’’suggestions like that. It is a way, but as someone said above, the guilding experience shouldn’t depend on money. I don’t feel like a part of a whole community anymore, rather it’s like I was just thrown into a class struggle; you can join the big and powerful, stay impersonal but get it all easy, or you can remain with the few good pals, hardly get anything done and furthermore empty your pockets in the process.
(bold mine)
You’re upset that it takes a small guild more time to build up a given amount of influence. You then acknowledge an alternative way of achieving that goal (a way that a single person could reasonably hope to achieve). However, you then just simply discount that alternate?
I don’t see a lack of unreasonable alternates.
I’ve completed half of the Uncategorized Fractal, all of the Swamp Fractal and then all of Jade Maw with only 2 people at level 26 scale. Thinking about that, I’m so glad people dropping doesn’t screw me over in Fractals anymore.
You two-manned the Swamp fractal, the one with three wisps?
It’s more just the $$. I’ve gone with the Vigil and I like it.
I’ll check back every now and then in case anyone posts more though.
Like I said, I kind of regret spending all my gold on it. It looks nice on a static model, but the shoulders are so huge and unrealistic; as soon as your character moves it throws off the appeal of the set. I still love the helmet, though it doesn’t really fit with any other armor set.
Part of it may also be me missing my 119 gold. I didn’t really have anything else to spend it on, but 119g is a decent chunk of change.
I’ve been looking at other armor sets and mix/match combos, but nothing really seems to “fit.” I actually kind of regret not making a human or norn guardian. Humans and norn both get amazing looking heavy armor sets, and I’m quite fond of that “holy knight” look.
My solution was to mix the Tier 2 shoulders, gloves, and boots with the Tier 3 helm, chest, and legs. Less cash and less clipping.
I’ve tried a couple of times and still have not completed this path. As such, I’d just like to update the thread indicating that I am still interested, should anyone organize a group for NA servers.
At the moment, I have a Guardian in berserker’s gear and am leveling a Mesmer.
Your character has a great look of a veteran government official, which is appropriate for the setting. However, the chair is a bit big. Also, would sitting look better?

Hello,
This also eats at me in the sense that I need to do something. I need to log in and focus on my daily’s. It is a mental road block for me. I can’t just do what ever I want to get the best gear the way I am seeing it.
What do you like to do when you play? You may be surprised at how much of the daily you get done without trying.
Also, you seem to be upset that “I need to do something.” Surely you misspoke, because it sounds like you want to get the best gear by just logging into the game.
Here are some damage calculations using a greatsword’s average attack value and a Power/Precision/Crit Damage (Berserker) gear set:
Assumptions:
Ascended gear ups Power/Precision stats by 8%.
2% increase per item for crit damage.
Ascended gear is available in the identical “Berserker” format.
+300 Power, +300 Precision, +10% Crit Damage from Traits
Jewelry uses Exquisite Ruby Jewel upgrades.
Armor value of 2600 for base damage calculation.
Calculations for Exotic
Base Power and Precision = 916
Armor Power (Chest, Legs, Helm, Boots, Gloves, Shoulders) = 101+67+45+34+34+34 = 315
Armor Precision = 72+48+32+24+24+24 = 224
Armor Crit Damage = 5+3+2+2+2+2 = 16%
Jewelry Power (Ring, Ring, Ear, Ear, Amulet, Back) = 92+92+81+81+115+43 = 503
Jewelry Precision = 63+63+55+55+79+28 = 343
Jewelry Crit Damage = 6+6+6+6+8+4 = 36%
Greatsword Power = 179
Greatsword Precision = 128
Greatsword Crit Damage = 9
Greatsword Average Attack = 1048
Final Exotic Stats = 2214 Power, 1911 Precision (51% Crit Rate), 71 Crit Damage (221% of normal on crit)
Base Damage = (Power)(Attack)/Armor = 892
Average Damage = (.49)(892)+(.51)(2.21)(892) = 1442
Available Ascended Calculations (2 Rings, Amulet, Back)
Power Increase = (92+92+115+43)(.08) = 27
Precision Increase = (63+63+79+28)(.08) = 19
Crit Damage Increase = (2+2+2+2) = 8%
New Power = 2241
New Precision = 1930 (52% Crit Rate)
New Crit Damage = 79% (229% of normal damage on crit)
New Base Damage = 903
Average Damage w/ available ascended gear = 1509
1509/1442 = 4.6% increase in damage.
Calculations for Full Ascended
This will include all six armor pieces as well as the greatsword. Again, everything (including greatsword attack) is assumed to increase by 8% with Crit Damage increase by 2% per piece.
Full Ascended Power = 2294
Full Ascended Precision = 1967 (54% Crit Rate)
Full Ascended Crit Damage = 97% (247% of normal damage on crit)
Full Ascended Base Damage = 999
Average Damage with Full Ascended Gear = 1792
1792/1442 = 24% increase in damage from Exotic
Conclusions
Right now, the damage increase from a theoretical ascended berserker’s upgrade (2 rings, amulet, and back) is not terribly noticeable at 4.6%, I’d say. However, in the future with a full theoretical ascended berserker’s set, the increase becomes much more noticeable at about 24%. That might be a cause for concern. But who’s really to say? There are quite a few important and questionable assumptions made in these numbers.
Notes
These numbers are clearly far from concrete, as no exact ascended berserker set exists. Numbers should be very close but may be slightly off. Please double check the math if you’d like. Any equations not explained should be available on the GW2 official wiki.

While Fractals are often thought of as dungeons, they are a standalone type of content. They do not count because Fractals are not dungeons.
I’ve never really been a fan of daily tasks honestly.
If it were up to me, dailies would be totally based upon what the player wants to do.
Say you log on, and all you want to do is check out the TP, or maybe you want to go run a couple dungeons, no prob! If that’s not your cup of tea, no worries. You could do some map exploration, level some alts, or play some pvp. Anyone could do any of these and still be credited with daily rewards, and it’s really pretty simple.
Currently, the average daily shouldn’t take more than an hour for even the most casual players. So, instead of making dailies requiring to do x, y, and z…just simply make them time based.
You log in and play for one hour, and do what YOU the player wants to do. Congratulations!! You just earned your daily.
Problem solved
So the solution to the “Daily Problem” is a one hour timer? Logging on completes the daily? Unbelievable.
Whoooosh. The sound of another monthly passing the open world players by……
This monthly actually seems quite “open world” friendly. You get drops in the open world, so you can salvage. Events are all over the open world, so you can complete that portion. Dailies are often “open world” focused as well. I believe today’s was events, gathering, crafting, reviving, and kill variety. Each of those is easy for “open worlding.”
I’d say that the only part of the monthly that is not friendly to “open world” players is the 5 dungeons part.
If you kick someone at the end of fractal, the entire party gets teleported outside. I tried kicking a slacker during the end, all 4 of us got teleported outside.
I’m guessing that person started the fractal.
Also, thanks for letting me know not to party with you.
Gate of Madness Server
Arah Story Mode.
I only get the option for Explorable Mode. I’ve done Story Mode once before, but now I need to do it to complete my personal story. However, as stated before, I have no option to enter Story Mode, only Explorable.
As you said, Deroxx does deviate from the syllabic norm. It has the common double consonant, though. The “hard” ending in an “x” makes me think of a hardy type of character, like a Warrior.

I’ve not attempted this path before, but it is the only one I need for Dungeon Master. That said, I am interested. Send me a whisper/mail.
Try running some dungeons. I’ve found it’s a decent way to earn gold fairly easily.
Or is it that you assume that everyone wants a GS precursor?
Of course they do. Do you know anyone who plays an Engineer, Thief, Elementalist or Necromancer? I sure don’t.
Plays WvW for 5 mins
I know about 25 of the middle two.Seriously, I have several of all of those classes in my guild. Your newbie is showing.
I could be wrong, but I think your lack of a sarcasm sense is showing.
It used to have 5 torches that needed activating, pugs don’t like coordination. And I dare not mention kits, that rustles alotta jimmies.
The path itself also takes longer than the other 2, and everyone is in such a rush these days..
Used to? Have they removed it?
Haven’t done path 3 since I finished it for the achievement months ago.
They were going to reduce it to 3 torches. Not sure if that happen already or not.
I ran this path an hour ago. It still has 5 torches.
