Anyone who ignores the not sent by GW2 staff part of the message only have themselves to blame.No doubt.
But some people panic when they read the body of the text, and miss the message below. And some people aren’t good at reading, sad to say, and it’s hard for them to figure out two opposite messages, one that says it’s from ANet and you’re being banned and one that says it’s from a player.
People who read and post on the forums are typically of the class where reading and comprehension is effortless. They should work a while with an adult who struggles to read and understand text before making too harsh a judgment on those who fall for this,
Worked with many who struggle with every single physical, cognitive, and behavioural challenge as well as those that had multiple and various combinations of the above (plus many more you may not of even heard of) including those that required 24/7 medical care to live let alone attend class. I am quite able to make informed judgements. Let me know when you have a had a student(s) pass in front of you ,in your care, or while comforting them.
I wasn’t being harsh, just truthful. Someone who has the ability to play an interactive MMO on a PC and comprehend the mechanics and nuances of this game and are lucky to be able to do so.

Yeah but Blude it’s like having an “are you sure” dialog popping up, people quickly learn to ignore it because 99% of the time it’s okay. A dancing, pulsing “this isn’t from ANet” would just get mentally filtered out especially if a player gets a lot of email from other players.
Yep, I see your point. I was debating posting about add a better notice or saying anyone who overreacts, doesn’t read the notice from anet ,visits the site and provides their info have only have themselves to blame. I’ll move to the user is at fault camp.

BUT, Gaile, it has been asked/suggested many times that the notice about not coming from the GW2 is more eye catching—red or pulsating, moving flag—something that would draw attention to the fact that it is not from Anet to help those that panic and don’t read the entire e-mail.
They are too busy fixing the game.

First off English isn’t her 1st language, no need to be rude. She only shared her account recently (2-3 weeks) to someone she thought she could trust with it. Like you said it’s up to Anet. One GM has already said she could be unbanned but then another ignored it. Hopefully Michael will see her for the great player she is. Our guild has lost a wonderful member to this.

1st of all , no one was being rude!!!!!! 2nd your biased interpretation isn’t what I read. I read a support person suggested a ruling , then a higher up(with further research) made a final call. It wasn’t a decision made, then ignored. It’s all a matter of perspective.
Shared is shared and is a violation, too bad she shared it with a cheater and was caught. (btw is the cheater she shared with a member of your guild too?) I guess I fall in with others that have said, if you share your account be prepared to face the consequences.

I hope you can understand I forgot about such silly thing like account sharing is forbidden after over 3 years of having this account and a 1,5 to 2 years of a break from this game. We are all human, we make mistakes. I did already make a mistake by sharing my account and now I got also punished by a permanent ban. Why don’t I get a chance to prove myself I am not wrong?

Reading it——1.5-2years (not 3 years btw) and admitted sharing her account. No need to play around with semantics and exaggeration. It’s in Anets hands and is completely up to them now.

I understand, but your attitude calling it a ‘silly thing’ doesn’t help the case. There is a reason for it and it’s what could happen when you share. You agreed to it to the terms.
So you can continue to go through support to get a review. But don’t be surprised when posting access is removed also.

I understand that you will have to use support to continue review your issue.Hopefully you still have the conflicting e-mails and a higher up will review and make a final decision. That being said you did violate the the terms of agreement when you shared your account.
It is just a dumb mechanic (one I have gotten used to but continue to swear at).

Not sure what DL you’re talking about (beta drivers?) or if you’re just pulling people’s legs, but I doubt the crashes are from the gfx card. Only “crashes” I get are connection errors after they update the game. :\

Indeed. If I could build banners as a micro guild before HoT, I should still be able to build banners. Using the old mechanic, I spent time and effort to do so, and that ability has been taken away.
Bingo!! Just another reason why HoT is not in my future.

I got myself fixed. logged in a character that was sitting in lions arch and waypointed to all the zones that I had characters stuck in. Then I was able to log them in with no problems.
Thanks for that tip. Repair wouldn’t work. I logged an alt as suggested and was able to get back in with my main after that.

Mostly because I bet in the late night Anet’s time, it’s hard to staff a communications officer on top of the team managing any game issues and handling tickets.
Would you really pay a communications officer during the night? Or would you rather that money go towards a person working on fixing the issue.
5 seconds to respond is all it would take. Quit trying to absolve their lack of competent communication.

It isn’t necessarily on Anet’s end. A high latency network connection can have the same game symptoms. I’ve seen this timeout where you can log in but can’t connect to a map before trying to connect from California to the EU datacenter without a VPN.
It is an Anet problem —period! Don’t try to be an apologist for their problem and lack of response.
I’m not apologizing for their lack of response. I would like a response too. I’m just not going to continue naming everyone’s bandwagon cause when my own observations of my network connection have shown a different cause.
So Sad when you ignore the real culprit.

Internet my butt! Just a mistake by Anet.
Same story here. I purchased HoT originally from g2play friday, played 2hours, next day account was downgraded. I got refund from g2play. Yesterday I purchased HoT from ingame store and now my account is suspended. What the ****?
Checking to see if you are legit??? You used a site that uses fraudulent methods to get keys, so you have a history now. Use the support function and ask and put in a ticket.
Yes, after entering the serial number, i play two days HOT and now is suspended…
Because your seller used a stolen CC to get the serial from Anet and the bank system finally caught up with the theft and no money went to anet—so anet shut it down.

With all the crash posts that are appearing since HoT (both cards as mentiond by some AMD users). I am starting to feel it is a problem on Anets side. There are just too many of them to be a coincidence.
Yep old news and it is quite visible in the e-mail that it is not from anet. Just report ingame, delete and move on. I do question when posts don’t edit out the scammers url when they post the pic.
This has been reported and talked about in many many many posts, as well as in stickies from Anet. It quite clears says in the e-mail(as mentioned in all the posts and stickies) that it is not from Anet. .
