Hello, I have a question about login … i just got e-mail that someone from other side of planet tried to login to my account, I need to aprove it but of course I will not.

So I just want to ask if there is a way to stop guys like this … I know what he want to do at my account so … if there is some way to stop them i will be happy

The way to stop them is to do exactly what you did: To decline to accept the log-in attempt. There is no way to increase protection by saying “Do not allow any log-ins from [country]” because most account thieves have access to proxies, so while they may be located in Beijing, they may appear to be trying to log in from Boston.

So how we are secure of this guys if they have proxies?, many of the reports in this forum said that they dont receive the email of login attempt, and how they are getting your passwords so easy?

If the email login is bypassed it usually means the hacker also has access to the victims email account and has either changed the email associated with the gw2 account or they got to the login authentication email first and likely deleted it afterwards.

If your gw2 and email are compromised together you are in trouble. The first step to prevent this is to make sure you use different passwords for your email and game accounts. Another step is to have a unique email address for your gw2 account to prevent them having access to any sensitive information in your main email account.

There is other things too but those are a good start.

PC’s are not the same as consoles, there are millions of different PC configurations, the game runs and produces different bugs on every one. There is 1 console configuration and the game plays exactly the same on every one. It is like comparing Apples to Kangaroos.

You really just proved my point. People are more than willing to defend games if it’s a PC game. AC3 is a console game, too. The consensus that I hear for Assassin’s Creed 3 is don’t buy it right now – PC or console. Maybe wait a few months or so to see if they fix stuff and buy it then.

I totally didn’t encounter a single bug in AC3 on the 360. No issues or hinderances or anything. Everyone else was just playing it wrong lol.

If your email was previously authenticated then the hacker would have had to contact support posing as the account holder to have the email tied to the account changed.

If he had/has access to your current email account then it is possible.

Did he use the same email address that he used for the trial account? If he did then it’s an upgraded account (trial to full), if he used a new email then it is a new account and the issue is indeed confusing.

It is not possible that a similar bug went unnoticed… unless no one did that fractal before the release of 3rd dec.

They have an internal testing team. What may happen too often is that the team goes in to test a patch, they only observe for the specified bug(s) and don’t notice that a new one popped up nearby.

Honestly though, if they had a PTR to run these test on first and allow the community to help then these little things wouldn’t go live and have people deal with them for a week.

Personally I don’t see the difference between a public test server and live servers. In fact I think live servers are better because there are more people to identify issues quickly. I think a public test server would only be marginally better than their internal testing which already happens so not worth the effort IMO.

ArenaNet do not do phone support so there is no phone number.

You will get banned if you are found to be buying gold or services from a third party site. So yes, it is illegal in the sense that it is against the games terms of service.

If you want to get more gold in game you can purchase gems legitimately from ArenaNet and then exchange them for in-game gold.

You must have visited one of the WvW maps in the past as you get all the waypoints on a WvW map when you first visit it. You need to go to two of the server battlegrounds (6 waypoints each) and Eternal Battlegrounds (7 waypoints) to get your 19 waypoints.

For the POIs and vistas you will need to run around the WvW maps and unlock though.

You can only get a refund from ArenaNet if you purchased directly from them (in which case follow IonicBlaze’s link). If you purchased the game from another source you will need to try get a refund from them instead.

If you are in an instance when the new build is made available then you will be given 3 hours to complete your instance, this has been the case for months (if not always).

If you are not in an instance when the new build is made available then you will be given 3 minutes.

Hi, I am Bluestone. I have no complaints about the game right now, I didn’t start playing with preconceived ideas about how they should make their game, I started playing ready to see what they had done.

Now you have met someone who doesn’t kitten about the game. I spend a day every now and then trying to give a different perspective to people on the forums.

Just go join your friends on a less full server, if your friends are not willing to wait until the server presents itself as less than full (happens occasionally) then you have to choose between transfering off your server to play with them or just not playing with them (although you can do dungeons with them no matter how spread you are across servers, and sometimes explore with them in overflow servers).

ArenaNet can’t win with this community lol. People are complaining about dead/empty servers while others are complaining that their servers are too full to get new people in. lol.

Thank you I found it, where Mike-OBrien-ArenaNet says “we’ve always expected that we will someday raise the level cap in GW2.”

This is disappointing to me as I liked the constant level cap in GW1 and hate when it raises in other games. But that’s a topic for another thread I guess, just wanted to say TY for the link.

You may have a keylogger or something on your account if they have your password despite you changing it.

The DR and similar attempts are to combat bots, not players. Trying to combat bots is with the aim of making players happy. The threads complaining about bots have decreased drastically lately, this may mean something they are doing is working.

I don’t think fraud is an easy thing to investigate, even if your card was flagged accidentally they need to do due diligence before removing the ban on your card because fraud is a serious matter.

It is unfortunate that your card got banned but sometimes while trying to protect the wider community/company from fraud a few mistakes will be made. Please bear with them. Gaile is good at what she does and I am sure will help you get a speedy resolution.

Change your email account password too.

And then maybe contact support and change the email address associated with your account.

This will improve your security.

There is a vertical treadmill NOW because they created one. There was no gap between exotic and legendary until they CREATED it with ascended gear. Then they made it a LA lobby game.

Um… there is a gap between Masterwork and Rare, and again between Rare and Exotic but I would hardly call that progression a treadmill. A treadmill never ends it goes around and around. GW2 gear progression ends in Ascended. That is the top. It ends. There is no treadmill…

If I was customer support I wouldn’t be as lax as what you describe in WoW. Assuming the person on the account was the legitimate owner and just restoring all the items quickly. If the hacker still had access to your account then they could just take it all again.
People are complaining about ArenaNet when all ArenaNet are doing is taking precautions to ensure the accounts are secure before giving the account back. They are working on a comprehensive tool to restore items to accounts. I don’t know why it wasn’t in place at launch but the fact is that it isn’t there yet, but it is coming.

Take the complaints with a grain of salt. People imagine all kinds of slights when they are frustrated. And it’s not ArenaNet’s fault they get hacked so they should really be directing their frustration at themselves for providing access to a hacker in some way.

There is no vertical treadmill. Ascended is the top, was always intended as the top. The verticalness ends at Ascended.

If you had been keeping up to date with the Developers comments on Ascended gear (which you should do if you are going to comment on them) then you would know that Ascended gear was planned for launch but they content that required the infusion gear was not read yet (the first of these is the fractals dungeon) so they chose to hold off from releasing Ascended gear until they released the fractals. It was a stupid thing to hide ascended gear from the community because now there are a bunch of silly people complaining about an imaginary vertical treadmill.
New content will not introduced tiers above Ascended. Ascended is the top.

You could convince your friends that it (hacking) can happen no matter where they go. That it is not ArenaNet’s fault that so many people are slack with their account and email security despite ArenaNet’s efforts to encourage people to be more secure.

It’s a stupid reason to not play IMO. But if someone wants to use that as an excuse to not play then I guess they probably just didn’t actually want to play anyway.

You should go to the suggestion forums and suggest that they add a hack/exploit option to the drop-down menu (though I’m pretty sure it has been suggested already).

Oh, I don’t deny that it’s meant to be a gold sink. Any MMO needs gold sinks to keep inflation in check, and pretty equipment is one of the best ways to do it.

I think your reasoning behind it is sound too; however, the fact that Order armor exists kinda puts a wrench in that idea, since Order armor is also Rare and much, MUCH cheaper than T3 Cultural. (I got the impression that Order armor was intended to be the “Can’t afford level 80 gear? Here’s the cheap option.” solution for end-game players.)

And of course, it ended up being moot anyway since most players are just skipping over Rare armor and heading straight to Exotics. (This happened in GW1 too, with people running to Droknar’s Forge and buying level 20 gear and skipping all the other armor along the way.) Since that’s likely to happen again when Ascended armor comes onto the scene, it makes me wonder if ANet will buff all end-game armors by 1 tier to prevent them from being made entirely obsolete.

I would like it if they added a recipe of some kind to upgrade the tier of your gear in the mystic forge.

People wouldn’t get it for reasons other than appearance because anyone with a brain would know that there’s easier ways of attaining exotic armor. exotic armor on the TP is many times cheaper than T3 armor, and Karma is one of the easiest ways of getting exotic armor.

There are two options, interested in T3 aesthetics OR not interested in T3 aesthetics. Why would some who isn’t interested in T3 aesthetics earn 119g just for exo stats when you can spend 20-30g on the TP and get perfectly fine exo armor from there?

The cost would still need to go up. ATM they are priced appropriately for the best cultural armor skins of rare (yellow) quality. If they were of exotic quality then they would be too cheap.

Dante, I would assume the game is feeling like a grind for you because you are getting burnt out/bored with the game.

As things are now I love seeing a Norn in cultural armor because they aren’t overly common and I have a little bit of Norn pride.
