They are barely able to handle the content they have
That’s debateable, I have no complaints. But I am an easy going guy, not prone to complaining.
i have 3, 80’s all in full exotic dungeon gear (mostly arah or cof) full jewel sets, i have 1 precursor and am 4/5 of the way done for creating my leg.
and i have noticed a huge reducation in the different ways you can earn money, now
Bluestone.7106: you can keep saying be happy with farming trash and stop dying.
Actually I never said be happy farming (trash or otherwise), in fact I mentioned that I don’t farm and I am quite happy, I just play and I always make a profit. I think farming events is the most boring concept players have attached to GW2 and think DR should be toughened to counter it, get players moving around more, and possibly hinder event bots in the process. But I don’t rally for tougher DR since that wouldn’t make me any friends lol, it’s just my opinion on that.
It is my opinion that if your game income comes from varied sources (which the game allows ample sources) then things don’t appear as bleak as many claim.
It seems much better to relax the filter so it only catches accidental swearing while cutting down on false positives. If someone is intentionally bypassing the filter, treat them like you would treat anyone else who breaks the forum rules: Warnings, followed by bans.
I disagree, I think keeping the filter strict on the forums helps catch far more of the ‘naughty’ people and any residual effect (collateral damage) is easily overlooked because they are just words on a forum.
You could argue that ‘they are just words on a forum’ is a reason to remove or relax the filter but that would be ignoring the negative effect that allowing the intended filtered words would have.

i’m starting to think Bluestone.7106 is trolling us.
I just have a different opinion. Don’t be that person that throws the word troll around just to derail a discussion.
Yes, it’s possible to make gold in GW2, but unless you are on the leading edge of each new farm, you will be behind the curve. Just playing the game indeed provides you with enough to repair, respec now and then, and waypoint. It does not provide enough to equip in short order in the current market. Yes, there are people who are swimming in gold, and there are a lot who aren’t.
People need to stop trying to keep up with everyone else then (the curve). Gear is not as important in GW2 as it is in other MMOs. Out-gearing your enemy is a concept from other MMOs that only has a small bearing on gameplay in GW2.
Also, if someone is struggling with gold in GW2 then they shouldn’t be wasting money on buying exotic armor from the TP. There are cheaper ways to get exotic armor such as running dungeons.
But the suggested way to expand the secondary source of income cuts off the guaranteed income entirely.
My reasoning is that if someone is going to buy gems from the gem store then they can afford to buy the initial purchase whereas people who wouldn’t buy the game upfront generally won’t buy gems.
(edited by Bluestone.7106)
People who die too much waste money on repair costs. Repair costs take away money that could go towards other things like saving for legendaries. It is basic math really.
You’ve gone from saying we are wasting money on stupid purchaces, to wasting money on repairs. I refuse to run around naked to make my money. Yes sometimes we die way too much when leveling a character, but that is only because the loot drop bug has prevented us from upgraded our armor and weapons for the last 15 levels and we’re trying to manage with what we have.
My comments are not mutually exclusive, it all adds up to wasting money unnecessarily.
Also, pre-80 and non-exotic armor is reaaally cheap. If you can’t afford to buy on-level masterwork armor while leveling then you are doing something wrong, perhaps salvaging too much?
And you don’t need to buy L80 exotic armor, such a waste of money, run a couple dungeons a day and you can have full exotics in a couple weeks (run more daily to get them faster). Or mix it up and you can greatly reduce the amount of money wasted on exotics from the TP.
There are so many ways people can save their money, they just choose not to be smart with their gold and then complain that it’s hard to make money.
No please
and about your idea … The arenanet is company, can you tell me why they should give free product to people? Guild Wars 2 is protuct itself, gems are also the product. Why should they give their money they would make for players for free?
Well, ANet can produce a infinite amount of GW2 access for free because of the nature of software industry. People who gets to play the game free wouldn’t have purchased the game anyway and ANet will make money even if a small % of these players ever bought gems or even indirectly influence another to purchase gem.
Um… this is a stupid idea. The game only costs initial purchase and that is a huge source of income for ArenaNet.
The current system is far superior to free-to-play and supports the continued development of the game.
It WAS a huge source of income to ANet. Not anymore because the sales of box have long since reached its peak and now only serve as a obstacle to recurit new players. I would imagine the majority of “continued” revenue comes from the gem store, so expanding that to more players would be a smart business decision.
If I was ArenaNet I would favour guaranteed income (buy-to-play) from new customers rather than possible income (free-to-play).
With the buy-to-play model everyone is a customer. With a free-to-play model only those who purchase from the gem-store are customers. Divisions never help games.
Games that are free-to-play tend to have a subscription plan for premium members and that always divides the community.
We don’t need the negative effects of free-to-play ruining GW2. The buy-to-play model worked for GW1 and I have faith in it for GW2.
it has nothing to do with dying, when they are nerfing different ways we all went about making gold?
People who die too much waste money on repair costs. Repair costs take away money that could go towards other things like saving for legendaries. It is basic math really.
I don’t farm ever and I make profit every day. I do the occasional dungeon, I level alts, I play with low level friends. I basically just try enjoy the game and I am never short of money for repairs, travel and savings towards bigger things.
i guess your one of the only people here who doesn’t have a problem with the poor loot system atm.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Change-in-loot-parameters-or-a-bug-Merged/page/1
every person i’ve spoken to has thought the same thing about this besides u
I am not lucky with loot drops, I am simply content with whatever I get, even if it’s just bags full of trash to vendor after a period of time running around the world playing the game.
I have never hit DR because I don’t sit in one spot doing the same thing over and over, I would get so bored. I don’t complain about changing loot tables because I don’t care if I don’t get awesome drops, every little bit of coin adds up after all.
I may be the minority I guess but I am still enjoying the game and I know I would have been burnt out on GW2 if i sat around farming endlessly.
Um… this is a stupid idea. The game only costs initial purchase and that is a huge source of income for ArenaNet.

It is very easy to make enough money in GW2 to cover repairs and travel and buying food potions and saving for bigger purchases.
I simply assume the people who complain about making money are either too impatient to save for a legendary precursor, or wasting their money on stupid purchases and leaving nothing for repairs and travel.
Or there is the other scenario I guess where all their money goes on repairs. If that is the case then they need to change the way they play since if you are not making more money than repair costs you have plenty of room to improve. Be adaptable, don’t play GW2 like other MMOs, you don’t have a healer.
where is the logic in your response? thought we were talking about earning gold for legendaries or ascended gear or other cool weps, not silver for wp or repairs or did i miss the title of the thread is it arnt we aloud to earn silver? i dont understand why any players would want to support the fact this game is taking away ways to make gold so ppl spend money in the cash shop
I have no sympathy for people who think they should be able to easily make legendaries, they aren’t meant to be easy. Anyone can have a legendary it just takes most people longer due to simple luck (RNG).
The thread title? Yes you can make gold, you most definitely can. And I mentioned in my post about saving for bigger things, did you read that part? Did you read my post?
Many people complain about the cost of repairs and waypoints and so those complaints are interlinked with a thread questioning earning gold (the game currency).
If anyone feels railroaded into buying gems to get things in game they are simply impatient, no one has to buy gems, everything can be obtained with over time, and not as slow as people claim if you are wise with your money and your character (ie don’t die so much).
I don’t farm ever and I make profit every day. I do the occasional dungeon, I level alts, I play with low level friends. I basically just try enjoy the game and I am never short of money for repairs, travel and savings towards bigger things.
No of course not, the reference to stupid errors was entirely my own opinion
Yep. I regularly ask people that made the quiver if they just don’t understand the system.
A book would look stupid on my warrior. I went quiver and got the versatile infusion. Simple.
Probably completely unrelated to the other comments but this is my thoughts on melee in GW2:
On my warrior near launch I died all the time trying to melee. I decided I was doing something wrong and started using my longbow most of the time. From my new perspective I started learning the encounters better and when it was safe to melee and when to dodge etc. Slowly I started returning to melee more and more and now I rarely use my longbow.
With this game you can actually improve with practice over time, just don’t force it. By taking in the bigger picture you can respond to the situation as it changes and this makes melee so much easier. (It can be hard to read the situation when your screen is filled with the enemy NPC lol, thus why the period of ranged helped me).

Lol that sucks.
My personal theory regarding the human-error that some people are reporting from ArenaNet customer support is that they are working too hard, trying to push through all the tickets they receive and some of them are making silly mistakes because they have a quota to process or something similar pushing them.
I prefer my above theory rather than assuming some of the support team are just stupid and bringing the rest of the team down by tarnishing their reputation.
ArenaNet, I hope you are investigating all the claims of CS doing stupid things and sending stupid replies to people’s support tickets since the longer it goes on the more damaged your CS reputation will get.
This is stupid how hard is fix this, this is easy problem.
Nothing is as simple as it seems.
Think of coding like playing jenga. If you pull out blocks near the bottom you can easily topple the entire tower. Likewise if you mess with a bit of code over there you can make another part of the game break. This is why new bugs keep coming up because when you fix one thing it can have a negative effect on other things.
If it was an easy fix it would have been done already.
The whole idea of the world changing because of player action was a big deal….well, there’s nobody left to watch it. I know an exaggeration but there’s not many people left there if I have to believe all the other posts complaining of empty zones…
It doesn’t really change though. It bounces back and forth between specific preset settings. It is a nice concept and hopefully develops further in future games but this small step is not enough to pull people away from the more rewarding and controlled instanced content.
You already have FOV (Field of view) as that is what you see on your screen when you play.
For the last one you might need to clarify what you mean
EDIT: Ah so you want an increased field of view? (to be able to zoom further out)
You cannot currently have the same zoom as the Mad King dungeon had.
And I am not aware of any plans to increase standard zoom to that extreme.

It is an english forum so foreigners not comfortable with english can expect some confusion from time to time.
Once you read a thread like this one you become aware that kitten is the filter word and will know what it means when you see it in other threads.
They should maybe have a tooltip on the filtered word whenever kitten is used to replace foul language so that on hover anyone will know that it is a replacement word. Or even just a hyperlink to a thread like this one.
While people still care about their character ‘story’ (I personally don’t) we will always have instanced content because people don’t want random people screwing up their game world since story stuff tends to develop the character and it’s personal world.
I look forward to a time when games can be advanced/complex enough to support fully persistant and ever changing environments in a smooth and refined way without the need for hand-holding through quests and storyline.
I feel GW2 is a step in the right direction steering away from the traditional quest system. Still not perfect but I look forward to what this prompts other developers to do.
but I do not see how it could work in GW2 without changing the fundamentals of game
You know, most people would be content to just be able to fight each other without any overarching rules or goals. The game engine can already support that, as we’ve seen with the brawling tonics. It’s as simple as setting a flag “can be hurt by friendly fire”.
There’s currently no way of effectively settling an argument about religion or politics. How are players supposed to prove they are right without dueling each other?
If you can convince ANet that a majority of players aren’t carebears, there might be a good chance of them enabling world pvp functionality, and start building upon it.
But that would completely screw with dynamic events.
A duel system would be an easy intermediary.
I personally have other games to satisfy my open world PvP needs.
Pardon my posting here but I made a mistake when I bought the game for one of my daughters, I sent the confirmation e-mail to the address by one letter. As this e-mail was as of then not created not claimed I had my daughter create it so that she might be able to get her code and start playing, however the e-mail never came through(as it wasn’t yet created) and I, in a fit of stupidity, did not write the code down. Is there anyway the code can be re-sent to the e-mail so that my daughter and I can run the game together? Thank you in advance.
Contact support (file a ticket).
Your friends need to try random hours (like 4am) until they find it less than full. Or get really lucky and catch it on a day when most players happen to be doing something else.
Bots count towards online active population. So does WvW. There are so many ways that people could be hiding from you.
alright good to know i’m not the only one with this problem
No one else said they have the same problem… but definitely put in a support ticket as from your description it is not working as intended.
The utility buffs I want to use are removed on death so I consider them a waste of time most of the time.
I tend to use food buffs when i have them, but when I run out I am never in a rush to restock, the benefits are only small.
Support should be able to tell you that if you update the ticket.
Swapping to a new server is free every 7 days. Also yes, the way Anet did the servers appears to be a very dumb way. Instead of showing servers by how full they are (actual people playing) they show how full they are by accounts associated with the server. Which when no one is using those accounts the server might as well say empty.
Pretty sure that’s not true. Very few servers are full during my evenings (Oceanic primetime). And I have had a bunch of people move to Blackgate (my server, one of the more popular ones) since launch, they just had to wait till the early hours of the morning to get in.
I love open world PvP but I do not see how it could work in GW2 without changing the fundamentals of game (aka rebuilding the game from the ground up).
GW2 is less instanced than GW1.

Better to get it banned/locked quickly to prevent anything that hasn’t already gone from being stolen off your characters.
Is reporting someone without chatlog "safe"?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Bluestone.7106
Most certainly report them anyway. Let the mods look into it. Even if action is taken against the person you won’t be informed about it so its safer for your sanity to just assume that someone went to their house and kicked them in the face as a result of your report
Will an account be deleted after inactivity?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Bluestone.7106
No, your characters will not be deleted and your account is safe too.
Two separate games are required.
The serial code isn’t to install the game as is usually the case with singleplayer/offline games. In the case of an MMO the serial code is tied to the account so a new code is required to create a second account.
Whether the self-entitled people think they should be allowed to swear or not doesn’t matter. You agree to the terms of service when you created your account. If you don’t like risking a ban whenever you use foul language then stop playing. That is your only course of action if you do not like the terms.
Did you like, even read what I typed?
Yup. Anyone that wants to use foul language in GW2 does so at their own risk. If someone feels inclined to report you for it then theres a good chance you will get a short ban.
No sympathy for rule breakers.

It is not challenging at all.
It’s impossible to survive.
Many people have survived and already proved you wrong.

Send in a support ticket silly billy, that’s step 1, not posting it on the forums.
When you dangle a carrot in front of a donkey, you don’t get to say “you don’t HAVE to eat the carrot”
Another newsflash, you are not a donkey and don’t have to act on impulse and desire if you choose not to. So you don’t have to do the monthly.
Please stop adding these to the monthly achievement. I like to achieve the monthlies but it’s really annoying having to do a dungeon that not only do I not like but goes against everything ArenaNet said.
Newsflash: You don’t have to do the monthly…
There is botting. Keep reporting them and then carry on playing. If you let it ruin your game experience while ArenaNet deals with all the reports then you are letting the bots win. Don’t let the bots win, don’t let them enslave the human race.
just got my account back, even with email authentication on. gold was stolen
That just most likely means the thief had (or has, go change your passwords) access to your email as well.
Lol @ people who rush things and as a result don’t pay any attention to what they are doing, at least you didn’t delete a character like some people, or delete collectors edition items.
Wait 7 days and next time you will remember having to wait and take more care when transferring.
You could always get banned for profanity, first someone has to report you though. Obviously you got reported.
Think of the profanity filter as a safety net, it’s there in case you fall but you are not meant to fall. Just like the filter is there so people don’t have to listen to people run their mouths off but it doesn’t make it okay to run your mouth off.
