They intended it for GW2 then scrapped it because it just didn’t make sense or something.
Don’t expect it to ever be added.
Besides, I love it how it is
Server does not matter for dungeons, you can run with people from other servers already, just party up and head in. (I believe you have to be in the same region though (NA/EU))
You can do dungeons with your friends on other servers already, just party up and enter from your own server.
Read somewhere since my previous post they reset at midnight GMT if that is easier to work it out for your own timezone. (Easier for me as I can never be bothered remembering all the different world timezones but I know I am +12 from GMT)
I just 100% a zone before I leave it. Did not miss any on my first character (now 100%) and am up to 98% on my second character and the last 2% is fully accounted for in the final zone. Much easier.
Bite the bullet and travel to each zone. Use a system like work up the level ranges within an area (shiverpeak/kryta/maguuma etc) so you don’t miss any maps.
You can tell it from the icon. Try to remember the icon, then go to your PvP locker and find the icon there to preview. Very cumbersome, but it works.
Icons are not all unique, some items have duplicated icons that bear no resemblance to the item when previewed/worn. So no, you can’t always tell from the icon.
Veldan, there is no higher tier yet. They didn’t have hard mode in GW1 at launch, the most likely scenario is that they will be adding hard modes to GW2 in the future.
The game has been out for barely 2 months and you rushed through content because that’s how the majority of people play these days, but that doesn’t change how long it takes to develop content. We got GW2 now and it is great, or we could have waited a few more years for it to come out with more content forcing people to rush through it even faster. I think there is plenty of content but I am a ‘stop and smell the roses’ gamer, enjoying aspects of the game that the general speed players don’t care for.
At one point in your personal story you will receive an item which will give your represented guild 400(?) influence when used. When you finish your personal story you will receive an item which will give your represented guild 1000 influence when used.
Little bits of influence per individual story mission I do not recall, never paid much attention to what gives influence.
PvE commanders come in handy when trying to organise large meta-events such as the Lyssa cathedral in Malchors Leap.
They said in the AMAA thing on reddit they are working on the TP previewing but the issues are that the TP is like an independant browser and it just co-ordinates with the game through APIs (forgive me if I express coding stuff wrong, I know very little of the stuff). The previewing off TP is a definite possibility but the implementation of it in a polished state is complicated and thats why we don’t have it yet, it is in the works. They said that on reddit (or was it on the forums, I forget now, I have done a lot of reading lately).
I believe some restrictions are good for the community as a whole. The current armor restrictions are something I think has more pros than cons and I would personally prefer that it was left as it is.
I prefer written guides with screenshots at appropriate places (like, start this jumping puzzle here picture). I do not like youtube guides because they usually ramble on about nonsense I do not care about and it is harder to find the exact point you want since youtube guides don’t have chapters to skip to (which would be the equivalent of skipping to a heading in a written guide).
I think it is fine how it is, if you want to see someones title you look at it, if you don’t want to see it then it is hidden. Everyone wins (or at least everyone should be happy with the reasonable compromise).
Lol at thinking it looked like an X.
I don’t think that an explanation is really needed for something like that. The skill tooltips should say if a skill is AoE already. If a player can’t put 2 and 2 together then that’s just shameful
How to make money: Play the game. That’s it. Have fun dude. Do whatever it is in the game that you enjoy doing. I don’t farm for items or gold at all and I have never been left short on gold.
Resets daily back to 60 trophies whenever ArenaNet have set as the rollover time.
I never actually try to complete my daily quest, it just happens.
Without TP previewing (which is being developed atm) you just don’t know for most items.
With my warrior I use a sword in my main hand and an axe in my offhand.
Skills 1-3 only swing my sword so I only do sword dmg. Skill 4 swings both weapons and so it deals combined damage. There may be some more calculations in there preventing it being simply sword+axe damage but it is still a higher damage number than a two-handed weapon on its own.
I know my reply here is not definitive but hopefully it helps to some degree.
On the point about new skills for each weapon, it kinda defeats the purpose of having the different types of weapons.
You use the example of a sword on a warrior being for condition damage (bleeds) and suggest that you can change it to support skills. I say that if you don’t want to do condition damage then change weapon, it’s as simple as that and already in place. It is how I play my warrior and I find it very versatile as it exists.
The red crosshairs visible on your screenshot indicate AoE skills Zenyatoo.
For goodness sake people, in the same post the OP mentions that on his server, in a single zone there are a whole ton of bots. Then complains that they aren’t being dealt with fast enough.
More bots = more time to verify they are bots before they can be banned. The GMs will eventually get around to banning your servers bots and then likely some more will show up. But keep reporting them and then move along, it will only adversely effect your gameplay if you let it.
You know you’re doing something wrong when you have more bots than people playing your game.
For the record: i have no more patience wrt bots.
There are not more bots than players. Silly exaggeration.
Perhaps you are limiting your play scope to a far too small aspect of the game, bots stick to the same areas, if you broaden your game play past those few event areas you will forget bots even exist.
I don’t understand why people think that where the bots are is the only viable place to play… makes no sense.
Lalabu.2097Of all the MMORPGs I have ever played, Guild Wars is the first to put PvP first and PvE second.
I don’t feel like PvE has been put on the back burner. I think the PvE in GW2 is very polished. I thoroughly enjoy it. AND the PvP. I think this game does justice to both and makes both a game of skill and tactic rather than gear like so many other MMOs.
Gold is not currently account bound because you can send it to other accounts.
This isn’t a good idea though, especially for guildies. Would cause more headaches than it would save.
If you don’t like MF then don’t use it. Why remove it from the game? Aren’t there more important things to fix right now?
This.
Let’s no go down the route of demanding things we don’t personally like be removed from the game. That’s just ridiculous.
Default controls are almost fine for me, the only change I made was A and D to strafe instead of turn.
Ok so, fine is the blue stuff, you are saying there are no masterwork (green) or better quality L30 items on the TP.
Let me go check that. (Yes TP is across all servers btw)
I see, only 3 pieces of L30 masterwork jewellery and nothing else.
As a weaponsmith I can tell you that the only L30 weapons I can craft are of fine quality and the same tier of crafting for masterwork items creates level 35 items, not 30. The same is likely true for other weapon crafting and armor crafting. So even with player-to-player trade you will not get L30 masterwork or better crafted items, you’d have to level to 35 first.
I don’t know how many people can join a commander but would be nice if there was an intermediate option that allowed a group of 10 to form up, costing maybe 10 or 20 gold and no map indicator.
Along with this I would like it if all dungeons had a short 10-man path added to each of them. Even if it was just one epic and really tough boss fight.
Wait it out.

It is a commonly held opinion that this game lacks any content after a certain point.
That opinion is mainly held by people who expect all MMOs to adhere to a specific endgame style.
GW2 says no. We will not conform. We have a better idea. Some people won’t like it but we can’t please everyone.
Luckily, there are many of us that absolutely love the longevity of GW2.
Sounds to me like the endgame model that GW2 uses is not appealing to you OP. If you don’t like the dungeons, can’t see past a few problems with WvW, don’t want to do sPvP and don’t want to level another character then I don’t know what to tell you.
Haha wow. So many talking as if this is the Messiah of MMOs. As of the chosen people have finally reached their long awaited holy land, where they can finally have FUN and use their SKILLS.
Hilarious.
For some people it is the game they have been waiting for. Personally it fits a big majority of the things I have been looking for in an MMO where all other MMOs I have tried in the last few years have been miserable failures for me personally.
You should reign in your attitude before you start flaming people for having a different opinion to yours. Everyone is entitled to their opinion whether you agree with it or not.
How about you just test it? Go to the mists, unequip your pvp armor. go back to PvE and see if it affects the bonuses…
That would be your solid evidence, much easier than waiting for someone else to test it for you or for a dev to comment…
There is enough endgame, there is just a bunch of vocal people who don’t like the endgame GW2 offers.
If people want standard MMO endgame there are plenty of games that already have them that they can go play. Please do not try ruin our GW2 with the old MMO standards. GW2 is our new game embracing the fact that games are meant to be FUN and about SKILL.
Most of that sounds like dumbing the game down, no thank you…
ArenaNet is in control of this increase in the value of gems
Only in the sense that they set the algorithms that sets the exchange rate. They have outrightly said that they do not ‘tweak’ the gem exchange rate at all.
Arenanet has stated that since they do not require a sub fee, they are not bound to provide and endless amount of content. At some point, like all MMOs, you hit a wall and theres nothing to do. It will happen. Expect it.
I have actually read ArenaNet saying that they intend to provide more than a subscription MMO does.
So far for me personally they are living up to that since there is so much more content I am looking forward too after 500+ hours since headstart. And we are getting new content on October 22nd, a mere 2 months after launch.
In My Opinion, the whole problem with “map completion” is the map. Remove it and suddenly things are MUCH more challenging and interesting.
I recently started playing my second character and even though my first is nearly 100% (lacking wvw stuff) I am finding that I recognize very little of the world because I spent so much time staring at the maps for PoI’s, Vistas and such. Remove maps!
Just don’t look at your map?
You don’t remove game features just because a single player used it too much and then regretted it…
Each character you get 100% exploration with will give you 2 Gifts of Exploration.
With the default 5 characters slots that means you can get 10 Gifts of Exploration.
And being able to buy more character slots (I have 7 slots personally) means you can get even more Gifts if you wanted.
Currently I have one character at 100% and another at 98%.
@OP That’s just how some people do map completion. The way I do map completion is the way I feel fits the game much better.
I use the POI/Vistas/Hearts etc as a guide and head towards ones I do not have. When I encounter an event I do the event. The map completion serves as a great way to move around the map looking for events. Much better than sitting at a waypoint waiting for people to say in map chat that an event is starting.

I don’t know how to explain upgrades to people who just reaaally don’t get it. They say thanks for a good explanation then ask a question that doesn’t work within the explanation…
6/6 means that 6 of your armor pieces which you are currently wearing have that same rune in them thus providing all 6 bonuses listed on the rune (one bonus for each item with the rune).
It does not mean you can put 6 of those runes on a single piece of armor.
That brings me to ask. What is the different between Elite and Exotic then? Are they both orange? I know Legendary is red lol. Never mind, I don’t know where I was getting the Elite stat, that’s what was messing me up.
There is no item tier called Elite.
Lion’s Arch is ALWAYS in overflow on Blackgate.
I have been playing, quite effectively I might add, in an all rare set. That’s right GREENS.
Green is Masterwork. Yellow is Rare.
There were a lot of overflows at the beginning because most players were on the same maps at the same time. Now as time has progressed the population has spread across all the maps so the likelihood of an overflow server being needed is much lower (unless you are in Lion’s Arch). Also I believe they increased server population capacities.
At some point they will be adding the ‘guesting’ feature which will let you engage in general PvE with your friends on each others worlds.
In the meantime you can already do dungeons with people on other worlds, just join a party with them and enter the dungeon on your own world (or be near the dungeon for a travel prompt) and this will put you in the same dungeon together.
I have my g12 mapped to scroll lock as well.
I gave in and bought a new keyboard, I now use g12 which is next to ctrl for my push to talk key. Linking when chatting in voice was the only time it bothered me.
Bots/scammers/gold sellers are like the hydra – cut off one head and one or two more grow in it’s place. This doesn’t mean we just let the hydra free, you keep chopping it’s heads off and hope that one day it will give up and go away.
You may never notice a decline in bots, and there are a lot out there to keep ArenaNet busy. So it may take them a while to verify the botters in your area and then ban them. And even then you may get some new ones to replace them.
If you are able to you should just report them then move along. If they really bother you then you should consider server jumping till you find a world with less or no bots in your preferred area. If that doesn’t help and the bots are destroying your game then you may have to consider leaving the game, though none of us want that since GW2 popularity = GW2 long term success. (and personally I want this to flourish for decades!)
