Most likely the error related to how the servers handle positioning, like the unreasable/stompable body glitches.
So was fighting the champion toxic spider queen and I encountered a bug I hadn’t seen since the tower of nightmare release. Something about the mechanics causes the ranger pet to if swapped from dead to swap in dead each time.
Additional information it seems that something about the encounter is causing the pets status to be ‘saved’ so if I switched a pet at 50% health and after the cooldown switched back to that pet is health well not have reset leaving it at 50%.

The only reason the buff system is they way can be summed up as: Conquest Spvp. The entire game is forced to try to work within a framework of the pvp mode everything else suffers due to lack of consideration when compared to their dream of esport mode.
It seems to me that the ranger ‘shouts’ were not actually shouts from the beginning of the development process only getting typed that way later, possible to have a non-soldier have use for runes of the trooper (originally named soldier).
How is this not been merged with the one in the engineer subforum?
Because if they move it, then that means they saw it and read it. A-net doesn’t want to acknowledge this topic in even that limited capacity.
Well someone must have at least read the title as it has been merged..
How is this not been merged with the one in the engineer subforum?
That would have forced someone in the art department to work outside their comfort zone (which is human female by the way).
I’ve been F3’ing it a lot and it makes it manageable even if it is a pain. When the game first came out, the devs were pretty good about communicating, I thought. Things have just gone down hill. I don’t think they even look at class forums now.
To be fair to the AI complaints, Mesmers have it bad too. A lot of their damage is tied into their phantasms, to be fair.
Not sure when it will get fixed but if I had to guess, not for awhile. I think they’re swamped with this expansion and I’m not certain it’ll be til the end of this year that we see it, which probably has all their in house attention just trying to power through it.
Not that either side was right, but a lot of the community felt that it was being mislead by the statements made by a certain someone and his enthusiasm for the underwater adjustments and providing a hall or monument reskin an actual reskin kind of created a rift that only got worst with how the CDI was handled.
I’d prefer not to see anymore bandaid fixes to the pet system, but at the same time would like to system looked at. The more I think about it, it seems to me that ranger was a rush job that could have really used additional development time to truly function as working concept.
More to the point maybe if enough people word the complaint as “We want to play ranger, but the game favors AoE too much and that make it feel that Ranger can’t compete.”
That kind of phrasing was basically how warrior got adjustments healing signet and cleansing ire.
It was bound to happen as there is a guy (if I recall states Nerco as his preferred profession ) who bascially made one for every other profession (an most of which got merged). I think it has more to do with the perception that it may be easier to get a profession brought low than to get one positive adjustments.
Haha, i totally forgot that one , thanks for making me laugh about it again. xD
I don’t remember that guy giving anymore interviews after that, was probably for the best.
I could care less about that late addition to a poorly implemented system, the fact that it will probably be the cause of many potential bugs when interacting with their new content (and possible existing as well) completely show that they have very little interest in a working mechanic for ranger.
At one time there was an interview (not too long after launch) where working pets were compared to giving the warriors the ability to dual-wield greatswords and handing the mesmer’s a tactical nuke.
Your thread just makes me think of this:
So they didn’t show yet what the new weapons are for each profession then right? example: greatsword necro or rifle thief speculations?
Correct. In fact you didn’t even have full access the the weapons a profession already had use of.
The wyvern fight messes the pet mechanics up pretty bad, between phases you have to jump off the platform and glide to reset the pet so it will do anything. If you do not you will get the "pet is too far from the target’ prompt.
The only melee unfriendly thing that really exist in the game is the ranger sword auto-attack chain, sure it can be worked around and after some experience dealt with, but its general design is really faulted.
No matter which profession is considered the ‘worst’ I still find it funny someone didn’t think it was odd for a profession to be in rotation more that the average for a 28-30 day period we have some that are barely represented and other that have ~half the uptime.
My question is did Kiel win because of the players votes or because it was the story that the writers wanted to tell/fractal that the designers wanted to build, with only the illusion of choice.
I could picture bad things happening if a group get too close while people are fighting the grub a few epidemics and with lag like it been you blink you are dead.
As I mention in as stress test issue thread they manage to create a new problem, in the wyvern event if you do not manually reset the pet by glided around after its flying phase, you will get the ‘pet is too far from the target’ and it will not attack until you use that workaround.
Ping OP nerf please.
It makes sense though if they back down on one thing it would just be slippery slope from there, next the necromancers would want all their nerf reverse for example, or ranger’s wanting the pet leash reverted, and the warriors with the whole adrenaline decay.
They no longer work. The 7% damage bonus fails to apply now with clones/illusions up…
Does it still work with mini?
And will continue pretend there is no problem correct?
I will try to explain this in as simply as I can. While you feel it is a problems other do not share that view and your reasoning has not been sufficient to convince myself or any others that did not already share that view.
So everyone can keep going back and forth accomplishing nothing or we could all just agree to disagree and let the designers make the call on what needs to happen.
Been gone a while, someone mentioned a stealth trapper..does one of the ranger traps create a smoke field now?
Nope.

where did i say i am going to completely disregard all of the players? [/quote]
As far as I can tell it is that this discussion has reached an impasse and for those that disagree with you it is coming across as you are metaphorically saying “Yeah , but it is still broken.” over and over again.
Everyone has a opinion and that’s fine, but at this point the subject of this thread is going no where. You are not going to convince anyone who feel that the range is not an issue of changing their stance on it anymore than they can convince you that it is otherwise.
So the best we all can hope for it a moderator will lock the thread as the discussing is doing laps around itself.
Well of Power -> 30 minutes of might, fury, swiftness, and protection… sounds good to me lol.
Or you could be taking a dirt nap faster than you can respond to the tranfer.
Imagine the first boss after the change that transfer the conditions back at the players.
Funny thing it didn’t happen in the stress test there were different issues.
It’s the first stage of a beta…what did you expect?
Exactly what I experienced, confirmation that they will continue to design content while completely forgetting how badly they designed the ranger class mechanic.
Though the work around was kind of surprising.
The mastery UI feels a bit clunky, not sure what I would prefer, but the current isn’t very ascetically pleasing either.
Ranger has only one pet slot. Ranger without pet is 60%?* of the class.
Did matter much during the wyvern event the pet was completely useless, the pet it too far from the target. No matter where you, max range away or inside its hitbox pet was too far away.
So toying around with the stress test here is some problems
1 Weapon Selection is not the greatest sword and dagger are not even given only Longbow, shortbow, greatsword, 1 axe, warhorn, and torch.
2 Due to the creation system of the characters you only have one pet.
3 During the wyrvern event the pet is always too far from the target to do anything*.
*honorary mention: who though celestial was the best set for testing?
*Edit: Found a workaround you have to at the beginning of a phase use the glider to reset the pet then I will attack.

So much for trying to be taken serious though…I mean the OP made a valid suggestion in his eyes, now his thread gets merged with some other thread and renamed into NERF ? Honestly….. Its like, we dont need your kittening suggestions…
After setting up 5-7 different flavors of theses why wouldn’t they get merged at least they did just lock them as they could have. This thread (and its parts) are not exactly leading to constructive discussion.
For the record they fixed that longbow bug that allow for fury on crit around/less time than this one is/has taken so far.
Advantageous bug (on ranger) apparently must be rooted out quickly, but negatively affecting bug will be fixed some day (maybe).
I wonder what code they touched that messed this up?
Probably the one that that fixed the repeated falling damage on steep inclines.
“nerfs we could tolerate”
Really, we are already one of the worst off classes and finally buffed up to semi usefulness after 2 years of being in the gutter. We have like 2 reliable builds and you want us nerfed. K then
Reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit is it? Either that or you just skim an feel the need to be part of the discuss, only you really haven’t added anything.
Check the third note
For Pve I wouldn’t use a dog pet :P
For PvE it more of hoping the encounter wasn’t designed to destroy the dodge less pet as they seem to completely forget that they designed the pet system for a 10+ year old stand and cast game not the action based one they seem so proud of.
PvE isn’t the entity of the game, and like it or not most of the balance come from them focusing on conquest style 5 v 5 spvp and forcing the rest of the game to work around that framework.
I am more curious on how they are going to rework the pvp dailies as at this time they somehow can’t get 8 profession with 2 appearing on the list each day to reach an equal average showing and then you get a 9th one involved.
Some of the skill set for ranger are difficult to really capture without practical experience, like keeping track of the cool down on the dogs leap so that you can have it on the next swap or getting the feel for using weapon evades on sword/dagger while the auto attack is on.
In PvE a full dome is vastly superior as it block all projectiles inside the area. A wall only blocks projectile that hit the effect. Also in PvE there arent a lot of situations where you need to run and close a gap like that. Projectile blocks are hugely important for clearing group of projectile heavy trash mobs. And in those situations a dome is far superior at negating all those attacks.
Also theres another major fault with the revs projectile block. With wall reflects. You need to stand inside the wall to be properly protected. You cannot do that if it is always placed 2ft in front of you. Whats more, if projectile mobs are between you and the wall (melee range) you are screwed. Put it simply. You do not have the option to reposition yourself to gain the full benefits of the skill. I consider that a major downgrade in a skill types effectives and its just for some fancy new tech which looks better but really isnt all that great.
I suppose you could argue the rev block is superior for WvW. But necros problem is PvE. And projectile defence is most heavily used in PvE.
As PvE goes if the developer worry too much about block/reflects they will just make the attack just not follow those rules and call it good.
No… Revenant will not be OP…
It not like Anet never overbuffs anything or fails to catch broken mechanic, and lets not forget whack-a-mole balancing.
But seriously it could go one of three ways, the profession is too weak at launch and might be in OKish place in 2-3 years, it is overtuned and will make warriors and thieves feel like they are anet favored children, or a miracle happens and it is balance to perfection and set the standard in which (probably unrealistically) anet will be held to for the remain 8 professions.
If that is the only ‘unsportsmanlike’ behavior you are experiencing I would take it as a blessing, as opposed to the standard juvenile insults concerning other’s orientation or something else completely less than creative.
The hackers aren’t satisfied with trolling anymore once their side is ahead they kill the servers.
youre probably using the whirling axe bundle you get from stealing onw arriors. you CANNOT dodge while using it. it will cancel the animation and use endurance but wont actually dodge. this has been a glitch since the power ranger buff patch and anet doesnt care so.
a tip is to use a weapon skill, stow it, then dodge.yeah i know its annoying.
More likely it was linked up to the similarly mechanics of the warrior’s whirling ax which at once time the channel continued through dodge (not sure when they changed it though).
This topic again? Can we get this merged with the other 10 topics across this board, the wvw board, and the Spvp board please?
This is one of those ones from the spvp subforum. They apparently now have a nercomancer player who post so many nerf everyone else threads that it is its own merged topic
Funny thing is before the class balance forum and that post Josh put up about posting ranger bug in the bug section they use to move any ranger related topic back here no matter what the discussion was about.
