What build did you use on what profession?
When i calculate with full assaassin it gets me to 2345 precision (warrior). With banner and fury that caps 100%, even without food/stacking sigil and with scholar runes.

Edit: I can’t check your sheet at the moment, i’m browsing through forums with my mobile phone. You might ask guang for his worksheet, it seems to be quite accurate and also includes crit-procs to a certain grade.

pretty much basic war build
30/0/0/10/30. Group dungeon setup

I avoid forceful GS because of the 5s might stacks, and 30 disc gives 30% crit dmg and 15% crit chance

Exo Berserker Armors, Ascended Berserker Trinkets, Scholar Runes

EDIT: calculated your precision 2345. With fury (and if that is already with banner) you hit 92.52% crit chance it was without banner, with banner = 100%

How i calculated precision is based on wiki article, i also checked with my own war, it checks out http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Precision.

in short: first 927 precision is 5% crit chance, every 21 after that is +1%

You mostlikely didn’t think about all variables (food/stacking sigil/might/fury/banners, etc) or simply forgot about the 100% critchance hardcap.

I played around with increasing power and results are the same. also, im using scholar runes so i never reach 100% cap.

I arrived at the conclusion that Assassin is better than Berserker.

It’s my first time doing this on a spreadsheet, can anyone check my rough computations and play around with the variables?

few people in reddit helped me out with calculations. there was a problem in my crit formula. Adjusted spreadsheet has been updated. Assassins is only better with high might stacks and other power buffs

I don’t follow commands nor give myself up to the mass hysteria of completing a dungeon in 2 less minutes (unless you tell me you sport it like Cookie and do it with people that are fond with it).

I only do dungeons with friends that have been tried and tested.

In this thread I never implied for everyone to follow the meta. If a lot of people in the community wants to achieve a fast time of completion, who are you to say that they should not?

You have implied for people to follow your “best practice” standard on how to complete dungeons.

you have a real job, i own a real business. what’s the point in mentioning unless it’s some sort of peen comparison?

You want to play casual fine im not telling you how to play it, but you are telling us how to play with your “best practice” standards. Some of us unwind with challenging/hard/stressful content and some people like increasing their net worth (gold or w/e).

Kohler in AC is a bonus. “best practice” according to your standard or not.
clearly outline/define what “best practice” is because you alone know what this so called standard is about. Bottom line, it is intended, it is valid. if it is profitable for time spent – I didn’t bother to do the numbers because it is negligible.

If you are going to answer in a hostile and sarcastic way, at least have the decency to read the whole thread. i stated before that is not only my personal opinion but I’m taking what I see in the game (such as red events on screen) as data.

Answer this to me please (and no, because you find it annoying is not a very smart answer):

Why would ANet place an event that says “Kill Kholer” if the best practice is to skip it?

(actually is funny using Kholer as example, if you the math the extra champ bag, chest and silver for event completed, it is totally worth it to kill instead of skip it; unless bad players don’t want to be exposed failing at this fight).

kill kohler > get the reward (champ box)

skip kohler (buffer) > bad player/cater for new players because its the first dungeon.

did that answer your question?

off the top of my head i don’t know any red events/major events people skip in a speedrun.

I miss the good old days of exploring and having fun inside the dungeons instead of trying to get out as soon as possible like if it was full of poisonous gas.

Exploration is usually first few times in an area, not the next thousand.

The good old days still had speed runs, even in offline gaming era. For some doing exceptionally well is fun, we don’t like to be sub-standard.

And when are you going to understand that saying something is VALID doesn’t mean it is the best practice?

1 word, efficiency.

As cookie said, skipping/running past mobs is still an interaction. they’re not useless, they add flavor; Having the choice on how to handle an encounter.

Your way of understanding what intended gameplay would be is not what others understand it to be.

Don’t put words in Anet’s mouth by preaching your interpretation as their intentions.

Playing 100% as intended = sheep

Apparently they’re not.

Im getting huge delays, sometimes i press a skill and it doesnt go off for a whole minute. I have a constant latency count to google servers and im pretty sure it;’s not me. If you live outside the US you will probably get the short end of the stick.

and just as a point of reference to people who confuse fps drops and “lag”.
fps drop is related to your local system’s performance (your PC).
lag is related to internet connection.
Technically fps drops can be lag but for the sake of differentiation no one should call fps drops “lag”

dark souls is pretty clumsy, if liadri was in dark souls like she is now that boss fight would be kitten near impossible.
im using dark souls because its literally the perfect base for a challenging boss with good design so EVERYBODY i repeat EVERYBODY can enjoy it, thats why it does so well.
having skill gated content that relies heavily on luck and how much the gods of tyria love you is bad. especially with the only known somewhat exploit is to nuke her kitten in the transition phase.
im only suggesting changes that will allow everybody to enjoy the 20 points and that mini that will most likely go in the bank after the first 30 seconds.
why do you think dark souls bosses are so well made? because its doesn’t rely on luck but instead skill and exploitable if you don’t possess the skill at that time.

hell the megadestroyer is a better boss than liadri even if his only attacks are a auto attack, a crabling summons, and a easily seen strong attack that doesn’t insta down you (if you arent zerk).
is it challenging at first? yes. do you learn the ins and outs? hopefully. does it become easier? yes.
liadri does not do this since it heavily depends on luck, or is wasting tickets due to culling, de syncing, lag, poor visual cues, being instadowned by a add out of sight, being troll pulled into the aoe by that orb you had no possible way of seeing let alone going to hit since it cant be ranged. skill now?

because if it is i suggest you expand your horizon to other games that actually have well designed bosses.
that doesn’t run down to, zerker, and a mesmer, and you didnt do enough damage? = auto kick.

Orb is not RNG, easy to kill it step by step, having at least 1 stun breaker and there’s no problem. Instadown adds walk slow, real slow. Liadri has very little RNG

Lol @ dark souls having poor and clumsy controls, ive played that game so many times even at SL1 and controls was very reliable and never had issues with it. Want another action game comparison? Monster Hunter franchise.

few things i agree on:
- poor visual cues: that horrible new red aoe coupled by gold/brown floor. seriously….color matching anyone? I wonder how the colourblind folks are coping with this. (I;m not colourblind and even I had some trouble noticing it)
- de syncing: i also experienced this, took away a couple of tries of mine when liadri was < 5% especially annoying when she chain cripples and your condi removal is on cd

I play a ton of games in varying genres, from indie to action to everything else, been gaming since MUDs and my favorite genre is action games like monster hunter and demon’s souls/ dark souls. So when i talk about tight controls i think i know what im talking about.

Long bow is a better fit for this fight since the 3 skill does a lot of damage and can be used while not facing her, 4 blinds, which prevents her cripple and 2 does a lot of damage too. The main damage source for rifle is volley, but for that to land you have
to face her for the full duration of the channel, which severely slows you down,
utilities you suggested are fine and imho the best traits are 15/10/0/30/15.
I had a hard time with my initial setup but after switching to those traitlines +
lb/gs for “3” evade it was a piece of cake and i did it on the second try.

Btw, food stam regen does not stack with signet of stamina so if you want to use food, use the one with pow/prec or pow/crit dmg plus sharpening stones.

Ah, i didnt use any consumable. I picked rifle for the killshot, but different folks different strokes.

i’m going to use dark souls as a comparison since its literally a perfect example, if you go into that game new and inexperienced you are going to die, die, die, die, die, RAGE, die, RAGE, die, SUPER RAGE, destroy something. you then look up what to do you come back and succeed somewhat but still die, but you make it farther and farther until you get to the boss.
where you die, die, die, die, die, die RAGE, die, RAGE, die RAGE, die SUPER RAGE, stop playing before you break something else, look up how to beat the boss.
find out you can get good and beat it the old fashioned way, get it to jump off the plateform, or cheeze the fight with an exploit or certain build.

its challenging but exploitable so EVERYONE can enjoy it, and not have it RNG gated.

this fight should literally be the same way where if you don’t know what to do you are going to die, waypoint, repair, runback over, and over, and over. or you can be smart and look up how to beat her, much like dark souls.
its still gonna be challenging but at least people will know what to do.
and not have to go VIGOR, VIGOR, MOAR kittenING VIGOR!!!!!!!!!

Yes but there’s 1 HUGE difference.

Dark Souls had brilliant and tight controls, GW2 has very clumsy controls.

If people have a hard time beating her, try war with healing signet and rifle + melee/shield. [endure pain][stamina regen signet][shake it off]. full berserk.

sometimes when i enter the arena, before the fight begins (and during) i get periodically knocked down randomly. i have no gambits enabled, and i cannot use stability on this for some reason.

This has wasted a lot of my time and effort, as well as tickets

checked my account tab, i took away the authorized locations, must have accidentally clicked “remember this location” during log in. Though after that I couldn’t log in the forums with the same account details for a while; I could log in the game though.

On-topic: If ANet’s smart, they’ll include the rapier as a new weapon. In which case I’ll be really glad, since rapier is all about stabby-stabbing and actual fencing, and not cutting and slashing.

The problem is AC is still hard even for experienced players if you bring all level 35 characters with AC rare gear. New players will have blue to green gear, maybe not up to date, and not know the mechanics.

experienced players + lv35 + rare gear? no, it’s not hard it’s going to be a steamrolling team going through it fast.

new players may have trouble though, it’s not going to be a walk in the park that they can just walk in with outdated gear. If they gear properly and try to adapt, they may be able to succeed. Some will take more time to adjust (or never). But dungeons are supposed to be challenging.

If they decide to make it level 80, they must make the rare grade armors from token vendors lv 80 too.

How about everyone else who overdid the Agent of Entropy achievement BEFORE the 250 cap? should all their progress past 250 also be reversed? (if you’re wondering, the answer is no).

actually their progress WAS reversed. There were people with 20K points before. Now the highest person on the leaderboards has 12K points.

LOL what a ripoff/scumbag move; all the gold they spent.

Still, the achievement system is less of “what I’m capable of achieving” more on “How long I can continuously play/grind”. So it’s not a real measure for competition, imo.

The problem i find is when you add the possibility of giving them an advantage of 500 points.
This is totally messing up the competition of achievment points, 500 points is ALOT especially at the higher points where you have to grind alot for a few points.
Personally i lost a couple of hundreds ranks because of a game i didnt play earlier.

Achievements in gw2 isn’t much of a competitive measure anyway.
Achievements in gw2 is like having that award for participation.
Want a real achievement? get a phd or start a business.

the centaur trebs, when they hit and produce a smoke effect, it gives crippling fps drops on my system.

Not every gamer like to play hello kitty online or “this generic rpg where it’s press X to progress” or “this generic game where farming = omghaxxorsuperpowerpawnage”

Explain FPS games, they’re mostly skill based. Explain massive sales of demon’s souls when they had very minimal marketing (also their successor dark souls). Explain Monster Hunter franchise. Explain Fighting games (street fighter/ tekken/ etc..). Explain bullet hell games. I can give many more examples where being stressed in gaming provides entertainment.

and don’t listen to the ones telling you that level 35’s can do it. ….they ARE exaggerating ……

There is only a handful of teams with full TS support who can do that and they’re using 5-man Profession combos that you won’t have consistent access to.

I think you’re the one exaggerating. The OP was looking for a solution, we gave him a few examples. Maybe he’s a better gamer than you think.

I never used teamspeak on AC, most dungeons even speed runs you will never have to use teamspeak. You don’t even need to have profession combos and such for AC; while some profession makes it easier you don’t need them at all to do a satisfactory job.

lol, whoever said you have to be lv80 and full exotic…please stop giving bad advice. this is completely doable by a lv35 team. there was even a video showing full lv35 on masterwork armor. there was also a video of an engi lv35 soloing spider queen.

anyway back to my point. If you come from WoW, try to think less mmorpg, more action game and dodging.

You say you have troubles on the boss after the spider queen, I assume it was kohler. watch out for his arm when it shines and when he puts it up, that means he’s telegraphing his pull>spin combo, be sure to dodge OR block it.

You say u played pally in wow so i assume youre playing guardian in gw2. bring wall of reflection, that skill is one of the best. If you see his adds being a ranger or elementalist, pop it down, alternatively you can use it to block kohler’s pull as it counts as a projectile.

You can also use “stand your ground” before he pulls your team. Stability makes it so that you cant be pulled/pushed/stunned/feared/and all other control effects.

If you really can’t kill kohler, you can opt to completely skip him, just go around

No need! I’m glad that there are more people out there who have given coordinated efforts a try. I really hope that WvW moves in that direction in the future; it’s definitely one of the things that would keep me interested in the game mode, as I may have said earlier in the thread.

I do think the tactics could be improved upon. A lot. More traps, mass stealth by terrain, different ways to interact with terrain, etc. I’d definitely find this more interesting!

a very simple example on bows for gw1, you might want to take a look at their properties and what it could have meant in regard to high-ground advantage.

Oh, not doubting it. But then my post wasn’t aimed at you. Did your guild group ever use a zerg to their advantage? You can put one to use, tactically, without ever being a part of it. I think of it as much like a tactical nuke – it’s the weapon itself being referred to, not its particular actions. You know the zerg is a mindless ball of raging 1 smashers – the question is always who has the blue Dorito, and where you can convince them to drag their followers to for the server’s benefit. =)

Yes we put so called zergs to our advantage, my main dislike for wvw is because so called tactics are still really shallow. I blame game mechanics – just a simple example: high ground for rangers in gw1 offered a significant increase in range and damage, in gw2 they took that out.

and then there’s the thing cryxtryx pointed out. what if i didn’t want to be in a massive zerg? whatever they you do outside it doesn’t really seem important or have any manner of significance.

Yes you may take out a supply camp when no one is guarding, you may intercept a few dolyaks, but the efforts of that group is easily rendered almost insignificant.

And there’s the aspect of player skill, there isn’t really a moment in wvw where a player’s individual skill matters greatly, one would just seem like an anonymous grunt that a nutless monkey could replace.

Those are only my personal opinions, of course many would not agree. So back to the question what would make a pve guy like me go back into wvw? I cannot really specifically point out much suggestions because i have a different taste in games when it comes to pvp, but my example earlier “fantasy earth zero” did mass scale pvp pretty well.

One thing PvErs need to consider is that wvw-ers don’t go to wvw for the reward. They go there for the experience itself, for the chance to kill someone, for the chance to be part of a tactical zerg, to coordinate on a large scale, to die for your server, etc. If anything, wvw is more of a time sink. So the less you spend thinking about rewards or what can be done better, just think of the fights or strategies or maneuvers to be had. Although if you really don’t like pvp/killing someone/being killed, then it’s no fault you won’t be interested in wvw.

Personally, I feel more pve objectives (like the frogs/moles/ogres in EB or the quaggan nodes) would help ease PvE players into wvw. They’ll see it as a pve quest, but will have a real impact on wvw itself.

i laughed when you said tactical zerg.

“to die for your server” …um, what?

in all seriousness, i play in a t1 server, the “tactics” a zerg has is really shallow mainly because that’s how the game mechanics dictate it to be.

And as what cryxtryx said, the anonymity is quite discouraging. similar to what i said about it being just follow commander dude into location X.

There is NO good reason for this to happen. None. At All.
Your character IS a certain race and they ARE a certain profession and that should not be changeable because it just doesn’t make any sense for it to be.

And sex change makes more sense?
it exists in-game already if you didn’t know.

The problem with a race-change item is mainly because it is technically challenging, and it might screw up so many things in the code. Apart from equipped items, i don’t see much technical difficulties on profession change.

I also don’t see why it bothers you or how it affects you in any way when someone else wants to change his appearance or profession.

I play both tPvP and PvE regularly and I have no desire to play WvW. The whole “follow the zerg” style of gameplay is simply not fun for me. My personal level of skill means little/nothing. I have no desire to spam my #1 attack in a crowd of 40 people. If I wanted that, I’d play WoW.

Follow commander [insert name here] going around and around in large groups, building and building; so tiresome and boring, no real display of personal skill. I do pve or tpvp only.

then another guy would say “oh but we do 5-man roaming teams ganking people” yeah..lot of good you’re doing, lol. if youre interested in 5v5 the tpvp is the place

Achievement points were never competitive. You could get a tonne from salvaging and finishing dungeons. You can get them from both PvE and PvE dailies and monthlies. There are so many every single day to get. They also strongly favoured people who got points before the monthly/daily nerf.

If achievement points had been restricted to one offs they would have been competitive.The current system of achievement points was just silly and was a trivial grind favouring the person with the least amount of things to do outside of the game.

i agree, anyone who grinds achievement points as a competitive measure…that’s just silly.

Using Lightning pull in Labyrinthine Cliffs on one of the auto target pillars causes me to overshoot the platforms making it impossible to get to some of the crystals. This seems to be common for anyone in the Oceanic region or anyone with a moderately high ping.

same here, it’s so stupid because i can’t even manually aim before it because lightning rods are auto-target & trigger.

sanctum sprint favors 50ms latencies, everyone else rubberbands and falls for no reason.

fell and respawned a lot despite being on TOP of a platform.

Not really – All we’re doing is saying we could sell them, we’re not going “S> TONIC 10000G ADD ME”. Also we’re speculating over the fact that these seem to be so scarce, even though they’ve been in game so long.

Leaving your ING is a clear indication you attempting to sell your tonic through the forum. Your also making some unfounded assumptions. No one knows how long it’s been around or how rare it really is. If you want to sell it I’d suggest you just list it on the BLTP for whatever price you think it’s worth and let the chips fall where they may.

Announcing to people that you have it is completely different.

Anyone who wants to contact him to buy the tonic is free to do so.

Frequent disconnection issue

My ping shows that it only timed out for 1 second and the game completely disconnects. it cant catch up to 1 second?

this has been happening every day, very frequently.

I also observed that this happens more often when i’m in dungeon runs. Do dungeons put a heavier load on the network or something? or is this just a coincidence?
