I have spoken with other fans of MMOs and League of Legends

Think action game rather than MOBA or traditional mmos, since gw2 was designed (supposed to be) as an action mmo.

If you don’t like running zerk, you can party with like-minded people who wears whatever gear they want. If you want to be efficient and fast meta-builds and gear are publicly available.

Basically it’s just different crowds.

If people say it’s difficult finding a non-zerk party they’re lying or aren’t even putting ANY effort in doing so. I will bet 1000g that i can get a party in <5minutes for arah that is non-meta. Doesn’t take much to start your own LFG.

Why people find it boring is not really due to the gear/build sets, it’s more of the boss encounters and AI lacking variety in their movesets and behaviour.

Anet doesn’t care about bugs like these and they especially don’t care about dungeons, this has been there since release. Btw, im pretty sure this bug occurs when crystal is taken down too fast/before the physical purple crystal spawns.

Also alpha’s earth spike aoe is STILL unblockable/can’t use aegis. Good job “fixing” that, we all know that unintuitive gameplay is the goal here. If you’re going to fix something, fix it right.

Exactly. Case in point: Guang goes 30/10/10/10/10. Which is wrong. 30/20/10/10/0 is higher DPS in almost all sections of every dungeon. Not just with staff, but also with conjures.

I’ve said it before, 0/0/0/0/0 is really the new meta for elementalist. With tornado elite. Anything else and you’re exploiting because elementalist traits are blatant bugs, same with ele conjures, and pet summons.

The thing is, most of the casual base has been bullied out of dungeoning, so chances are they won’t be looking. You can put the LFG up, but no one will join you if they’re all afraid to look. If they make a second channel, then all of a sudden the casual community will have a bastion where they can stick their necks out. The mere gesture would be enough to get an influx of casuals, and possibly give that group some momentum, so the casual players will be happy, and the speed runners won’t have to worry about them stumbling into their runs.

Again, that attitude you’re sporting is driving my point home.

No the attitude im sporting is disgust upon people who need their hand held, people who can’t help themselves even when the solution to their problem is clearly in front of them; people that fail to be self sufficient and independent.

How much do you bet that i can get a whole party of 5 that doesn’t stack and skip with minimal effort? Put your money where your mouth is or don’t even open your mouth.

Let’s call it what it is, you people just don’t like making your own groups and listing the people you would like to dungeon with. You expect the majority of groups to be similar to your playstyle. Well news flash – even meta group compositions hardly get what they want until they play with enough people they like and put them on their list.

When someone positively promotes no stack no skip groups most people won’t care and rather support it, you guys can do what you want – best example is the PASSS thread until some genius mod merged it with another negative complaining thread just like this one.

only 1 way to eliminate perma-stacking

Make mobs with movement, AI that knows how to backstep/sidestep, zoning, CC and burst. Then there will be a proper challenge. Typical MMO unavoidable damage or continuous damage is just lazy and dumb.

tl;dr – make mobs smarter (much effort) or don’t touch them at all

Isn’t this what fractals are for though (forgive me if I’m far off with that assumption though; never actually did any yet)? From my “very” limited understanding of them, aren’t they like mini-version variants of dungeons you should be familiar with?

No that’s not what fractals are for, in fact fractals has terrible rewards for the time it takes. Fractals are also nothing like the dungeons.

Also, I’m pretty sure either fully clearing dungeons, or skipping through them 400 times will end up pretty boring either way.

It’s a balance between effort and “fun” where the right amount of meaningful effort can be fun. Things are not black and white where fun = this and boring = that. Anyone who says otherwise is just being stupid.

As for your reasoning why you want to quickly clear dungeons; that’s like stating you should be able to insta-boost to level 80 in full exotics because you’ve leveled plenty (plenty being different for every person) of other characters to 80 in the past.

His reason is quick gold. Some people like seeing their money go up. Some people like doing dungeons as clean and efficient as possible. Btw a little gold you CAN instaboost to lv80 with full exotics. If you dont like clean and efficient runs then that’s you, don’t expect people to be like you.

I haven’t tried making a group requesting full-clears/no stacks, mostly because I just assumed most people rather “take the easy way”. I’ve never seen any group advertised that stated no stacking and/or no skipping, so with that in mind, I didn’t really assume anyone to be interested in such a thing.

There are people who want full-clear and no stacking. A simple “LFG no stacking/full clear” is so easy to do I wonder why you haven’t done it. Either improve your social skills or pay someone to do what you ask.

What you experienced in skipping and stacking is how garbage groups try to emulate efficient groups where they just stack mindlessly without thinking of how that could be a better approach to an encounter or maybe they just don’t have the skills to pull it off.

Do not force other people to adapt to your individual preference, makes you look like a richard.

This is an MMO and MMO’s take time to get through, this isn’t a little first person shooter that you can sit down and beat in two hours. Welcome to time sinker the MMO. What is the point of playing a game if all you want to do is get through it as fast as possible. You might as well just play another game.

Stacking is for players who can’t handle the game and think it’s too hard, so they need something to make it easier for them. All stacking is is grouping is a corner and pushing buttons there is no skill involved. What is the point if that’s all you need to do?

There is no point to it if all you’re doing is standing in a corner hitting buttons, where is the skill in that? You might as well go play some point and click game because that’s all you’re doing.

point is speed. running all dungeon paths in a day – time is of the essence.

your experience is probably from garbage parties, and dont point out AC please dont make spider queen an example again because the reason why people stack on that encounter is definitely not the boss herself

why don’t you solo if you want to keep testing yourself, cant handle it? duo/trio etc

Also yeah Bread and I should also mention that stun duration food isn’t helpful because even if you reduce it by like 100% or more you still will get hit by the backstab haha. I think you might be right about the 3 seconds but it’s like.. never worth chancing things with her and even if you have to waste a second dodge to make sure you get away in time I suggest doing it. Can always keep your distance if you do GS #5 and have a sigil of energy on offhand sword.

hmm yeah you’re right and i keep forgetting it’s a lv 45 dungeon and her normal atks hurt lol.

Back when i was doing cm a lot, if i remember correctly the backstab has a count similar to subject alpha, around 3 secs from the time of stealth.

because the high damage (less than a war, mesmer or Ele) comes at the cost of condition removal, heal and boons for party……..And a guard with no such support skills is like a War without his big damage coming from GS2.

- Guardian has better potential DPS with most of the damage buffs present than warrior. Already mathematically proven.

- What use is your heal if the party doesn’t need it?

- DPS guard can bring condi removal/boons/reflects/aegis using utility skills. All the extra you bring by using useless PVE traits are just extra fat.

- The point is optimization – meaning don’t be fat, be lean.

Stampede, 3500 hours of game maining a support guardian, never been kicked from a party. Support is a reality. Only idiots thinks that this game is all about zerk gear!

3500 hours yet you’re not exactly breaking records or having the math in proving your build is better.

When it comes to dungeons PVE is all about zerk gear for now, it has proven to be the fastest and best. I distinctly remember hrouda (previous dungeon designer) to say that if you have a good team you can run full zerk, if you dont then pad up with defensive stats.

More damage = faster kill. So unless you can heal your enemies to death i don’t see it being essential

So if you think you’re better than the people who create the records, please post your own evidence or mathematical calculations; claims with no evidence are worthless.

The foundation of this game is supposed to be about playing what you want how you want

Those teams are playing how they want by forming a specific team of their own.

Just because most classes are accepted in the meta doesn’t mean all other parties will accept you, sometimes they just want to avoid bad randoms.

kicking you pre-run is fine just join another party (big deal – so much drama), during the run is a different story

If you look closely the rendering team was unable to copy the details of the concept art and when it comes to aesthetics the minor details DO matter.

Heavy armor (Female)
- helmet proportion is very wrong
- unable to copy the fur on shoulder and upper back (Huge blow to the design)
- cloth on neck is wrong, so are the size of the coins/buttons
- right arm cloth seems separate to cloth on neck (they translated it into a plate of armor)
- right arm coins are wrong, left arm spike and rings proportion is wrong (refer to – concept art and compare with forearm)
- left arm cloth is gone
- Bicep upper plate is wrong, under cloth/straps are also wrong
- glove/forearm cloth is completely wrong cloth/straps AND proportion, spike and rings should extend to edge of plate
- plate on pants do not join on the plate on the boots
- pants supposed to show more plate, less cloth underneath (proportions)
- belt too thick gives illusion of fat hipped characters. also the coins are wrong but the belt is just an overall disaster
- foot mesh is just completely wrong

So what happened? I assume they reused some of the meshes of other armors. The armor set is supposed to show a theme and unity throughout each piece (think – same under cloth and plates), they failed to do that as each separate piece sort of had a mind of its own.

Other armor pieces all suffer from the same mistakes on proportion and details which says a lot (lol light armor shoulders). So other usable pieces that are supposed to look good were just destroyed.

The result was an unedited armor, a prototype, a draft – same to an article written by separate people with no final editing

Yeah, anet human resources seem to be spread too thin and I don’t think they have any priority for meaningful boss fights or dungeon stuff. They like gimmicky puzzle zerg bosses.

edit: most of the stealth updates seem to be like some minor unnecessary ones, job security or false presence for dungeon updates i guess.

If there is already 2 DPS banners in the party and 25 might stacks, then full dmg thief – single target dps trumps warrior (backstab rotations). Im not sure post initiative nerf though.

Also as guang said, he doesn’t sound very good at thief. Correct me if i’m wrong but the only reason to whip out shortbow in dungeons is if no one can cover might stack blasts on fire fields. As a thief i switch around a lot of the utilities between fights depending on what’s coming up.

If he’s using shortbow as a source of dmg he’s doing it wrong in terms of the meta.

edit: And if he’s in the back dropping aoes he could be out of range for some group buffs. Why not just go s/p on trashmobs instead, 1h sword can cleave with pistolwhip on-demand evade. Black powder if he really needs it (do not do this pre-might stack and ruin your ele’s day)

So for warriors willing to accept that the pendulum may have swung too far, what is the right way to bring warriors back in line (give them a weakness or two) that won’t make the class miserable to play?

In PvE warrior is nowhere near top tier dps, so i assume this is about tPvP.

Dont they already do? Huge telegtaphs

and they are already fairly susceptible to CC and conditions even with hambow meta.

What you’re asking is a hard counter, which i don’t believe should be implemented. I would prefer battles to be pressure and spike based.

Needing heal classes isnt really the right way to do it, Don’t make this into some crap mmo, it’s an action mmo meaning full dps gear should be able to do it. We don’t like playing some generic mmo that has spank and tank mechanics.

What’s lacking is bosses with mobility, bosses that can back off (back step); a rush attack that gets him out of the way, a simple backstep, a simple melee aoe launch, back step followed by an attack, things like that. The way bosses are now is players stick to them like glue and dps, tracking bosses to maintain melee range should require more skill. They wanted to make an action mmo, then they have to emphasize movement.

As for defiant – why not make bosses vulnerable to CC at certain frames of the animations? something sort of a counter hit. When he goes for a haymaker he can be CC’d. Though it would take a little more work.

Basically when it comes to latency stability, it isn’t on our end. Whenever living story comes up it’s best not to play at all since there’s too much skill delays and crap rubber bands a lot.

Whenever LS comes in arenanet can’t react as fast to distribute server loads properly so there will be latency instability.

Americans or people with a closer connection will probably barely notice it. But other countries will feel it, the variation of latency affects us way more than others. On days without garbage LS, it’s fine and stable.

EDIT: some servers are more burdened than others.
example – a certain instance of a dungeon can throw you in a crowded server and you feel a lot of rubber banding and delays, then when you go out in open world you get thrown in another server and the delays disappear.

It’s not really 100% action game, it’s not 100% traditional rpg-like; it went with 50/50. So when it comes to tpvp game play it’s not as compelling as competitive focused games (I mean real games, not garbage pvp from some mmo).

gw2 tpvp is enjoyable once in a while especially with the dry spell of real content, but i don’t see it having a lasting effect like other games.

it might be better for anet to leave the DPS meta as it is because they’re useless and can’t seem to make decent decisions/fun content now. their idea of content where zerker is less useful is most often timegated trash or stupid gimmicks.

I agree. As i said in the other thread:

Any stat adjustment to mobs or adding anti-dps skills is just being lazy.

What bothers me is not that zerkers do more damage, but the point that zerkers can ignore most of the mechanics due to killing bosses before they can use their skills.

If an enemy do a really big attack each 45 seconds but you kill the boss in 40 seconds… there is the reason of why I hate zerker. It’s cheating in a sort way of speaking.

Don’t worry. I make sure never ever enter a party with zerk/gear check definition. Not my style to annoy people that don’t want me. I stressed this enough I think that people have that right.

What I am questioning is the state of a game that sees those kind of requirements appear and what is becoming of the dungeons in this game : a replacement of the trinity by one unity.

I hated the restriction of the trinity. I hate even more GW2 tendency for the ‘unity’.

And as Nemesis said, I don’t really think that the devs intended it to end like this.

Well, from my dungeon running experience, this unity comes in the form of the people you run with. I run with a few people i know all the time, i know what they’re going to do, i know what their next move is – so with this i can push my limits because i know they have my butt covered.

The idea is more rooted by personal skill, movement, and habits rather than builds. Many people not familiar with team sports or combat will not be able to realize this subtle differences, but it is a huge impact on overall performance.

As with diversity, we all would like more and I doubt anyone here would argue that. What mainly annoys us are people who preach that a certain sub-optimal build that’s really low dps is on par or better than the current meta without evidence. This is mainly the source of the friction.

Where the difference is the utility skills each class brings which are unique – specialization.

I agree. You are right. Never once I did not say you are not playing the game as it is.

But why do you have to consider other playstyles but zerk as ‘afk bot’? Aren’t you being a little condescending here? When you ask for respect you should start by giving some and stopping your assumptions on what other people want.

I don’t want bot heal. I want for every spec to have its ups and downs. If a ‘zerk’ can do anything and everything it removes any interest in the other playstyles. Full dps should benefit from other classes/specs instead of loosing efficiency because of them.

But again : I am pretty sure you think this works as intended. I am sure it does not; but as many of you here already complained: there is no dungeon team to tune all this.

Playing the game as it is is the normal way to go. Wanting a game to be improved is too.

Will things change because I think that? Surely not.

His point is mainly playing the game as it is, not playing the game wishing what it could be.

Everyone is free to want more, but when playing the game and using these sub-optimal builds – that’s a sure way of many vets not accepting you in their party and that is their party and their call.

imo “no healers” decision was the way to go, i find these dedicated roles not fit for a frontline combat perspective. Even in the military combat medics in the frontline can shoot and doctors stay in camp.

how about giving bosses a stunbreak skill? also put stunbreak skill animations, not just some cheap implementation with no visual indication. (example: guardian smite conditions animation looks pretty indicative of a stunbreak even if it isnt)

but nooooo it’s too much effort for anet. as far as we know they dont care about legit boss fights, only zerged world events.

blinds atm are completely useless for bosses because it is unreliable. the 10% chance to miss is obviously because they have no idea how else to implement it.

I like your idea! However it puts more require to on the buyer to trust the seller, since you can’t check that the seller is at Brie anymore before you pony up cash. How do you deal with this? Perhaps a slight discount?

I dont agree with the slight discount, imo still stay with the market price. Individually the buyer can just see the professionalism and for personal security just record the few seconds it takes or take screenshots.

I can relate this to general business with supplier relationships, a lot of it is based on trust. Sometimes you have to deposit the money to their bank account before they ship your items. The most you can do is check their background or in the case of gw2 have evidence to back your gentleman’s agreement.

TL;DR no discounts. stay with market price (+- 50s to 1g isnt a big deal tbh). reputation goes a long way. protect yourself and record evidence.

Because of people complaining about dungeon selling, I figure I show people how to sell dungeons to mitigate the scums kicking sellers and to annoy those “i dont like seeing dungeon selling adverts pls take it away” people.

Might help, might not, who knows.

So, this wont completely kill the kicking of the dungeon seller but it mitigates it.

step 1: instance owner finishes dungeon.
step 2: get a friend (or maybe duo with him) then he leaves party after the dungeon.
step 3: friend advertises dungeon selling and players pay him first.
step 4: friend passes the names of who’s clear or who isn’t .
step 5: invite cleared people then finish dungeon. Work out the profits between you and your friend.

Added security – record a video of the transaction.

Basically it’s like a toll system

If trolls pay then make it to the dungeon instance and kicks you, record the refunds so you have evidence of paying back your customers for services unrendered. Also pay the troll back, doesn’t matter how you feel; be professional.

why bring out drop rates?

Because originally the claim is something along the lines of TP flipping is unethical and gold is required to succeed in the game. (correct me here if im wrong).

Where I counter as not being unethical due to the fact that BiS gear is easily attainable and everything else is aesthetic luxury, where he then points to fractal 50 and the gold requirement to get 70 AR.

Yet the only thing he brings up is fractal 50, where i assume success or a reason of doing something the devs blundered as a cap is for the drop rate difference of 49 and 50 which would be the only advantage of being able to do complete fractal 50.

To add: I don’t see why ascended armor is a problem in terms of the average gold income of a person to attain BiS gear unless he buys it straight off TP which is purely an option.

It is easily attainable from daily crafting of those annoying time-gated mats. And i personally have not crafted ascended armor but I assume you can slap on verstaile infusions of +5 AR from fractal relics thus getting +30 AR from armor (correct me here again if i am wrong) and getting a cheap total of 85 AR .

So where is the NEED to use the TP for investments? And how is TP flipping unethical if everything else BUT BiS gear (which I compared to “basic needs”) is plainly luxury.

And the fact of needing 3 armor pieces per set is still valid.

50 is not hardcapped you can complete it with 70 AR.
My friend have 50 AR i still have only 60….

If they just let us convert pristines in +1 AR i could avoid hurrying to get the ascended armor….

why do you need 3 armor pieces?

full ascended trinkets = 45 AR
Backpiece 10
Rings 20
Earrings 10
Amulet 5

weapons +10 AR

fine, not hardcapped, but intended to be. just poor implementation of the “cap” but again what’s the difference of frac 50 and 49? are you sure the drop rate is different?

edit for clarity: I am talking about completion of frac 49 and getting to 50. not completing 50.

Legendary weapon stats = ascended. ascended weapons have been there for a really long time

recap: you claim trading via TP is necessary because gold = win.

only example in your head is specifically frac 50.

If devs put a hardcap on frac 50 where it is not supposed to be done why would the gold = win scenario be an issue here?

Are you absolutely sure if drop rates for frac 50 are better than 49? (this would be ONLY advantage in doing it IF it was).

and? all those ascended pieces are kitten easy to get besides the mind-numbing AFK world zerg events for dragonite. Did I also mention they’re cheap if you don’t do the “throw money at it” route?

really? you need 70 AR to get through frac 50? Many people already hit and finished frac 50 BEFORE ascended armor, BEFORE getting 70 AR. 50 AR does the job.

FYI main prob for high fracs are the trash mobs, not the boss

I will just say that in real an economy like gw2 would have led to WWIII…..
Luckily despite capitalism isn t working at all (see global crysis) in real we have some sort of organization to keep economy incheck against traders (antitrust etc….).

While in game we have even insider trading…..

Again, gw2 is super toddler commodity trading.

FYI those organizations are put in place to keep the status quo. Not in the sense of righteousness that you’re thinking of.

There are no basic needs in this game. Other than best in slot gear which is easily attainable, everything else is luxury. So pretty much people and you are complaining

The price would rise, regardless, due to the demand.

Money available to players are limited in a single moment…the DOZEN THOUSANDS golds speculators have doesn t magically appears from nowhere while they just click ……

They comes from farmers and buyers….they are just parasites….they give nothing and they are useless.
They subtracts gold from the economy..

They slightly fight inflation but the damage to PLAYERS economy is way worse than inflation itself….
While promotiing a HUGE inflation when it comes to really rare items

Actually his reasoning has also been said…repeatedly.

Making it tradable is not the same as allowing the dungeon running service. If you really don’t see the difference between the layer of inconvenience, you need a reality check on how the world works.

I also still don’t see how this affects you individually other than the illusion of prestige on obtaining those armor pieces.
