There isn’t a point arguing with him you see. You can see all his posts are only in the context of the dream NA primetime and every other timezone is not prime. Comon I played on NA primetime before on my special days off and know the situation is different.

It’s like comparing someone who met a sugar daddy or sugar mommy depending on your gender and life’s a rollin’ and then doing a yoyo mcswagger to someone who doesn’t have a super daddy or sugar mommy.

Maybe, but only maybe, you have to pass raids due to your geographic or your working situation but that’s not GW2 exclusive then and most likely the same for other games with group content.

nope, and i’ve been playing MMOs probably even before you learnt to talk. yes i’m that old.

btw, what is the expansion about? age-gated? adults only? below 14 only? i need to prep.

His contexts aren’t a prime time perspective, I live in asia, play in NA servers. Cleared 13/13 weekly before I quit and only log in for raids, nothing else.

I stopped playing just before raids came out. Played other games and joined again about august 2016 to do raids. None of my friends were playing, I had no contacts anymore and was completely solo. Jumped into raids and after 1 month 9/9 clear with some raid achieves (about 4 hours total in a week split into 2 days). Bastion of Penitent came out cleared, leggy armor came out got it after 2nd week – ish. Quit again till expansion.

If you’ve played mmos for that long then you should know it;s more of a people challenge than a mechanical skill/field awareness challenge. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding the right people with the tools available to you

yea i bet and you’re online only during NA primetime.

lol nope, NA is dead and asleep when I play gw2 which is asia afternoon (gmt+8). I play with a friend in new york at 10pm gmt+8 (10am NA NY) but we dont play gw2, we play pubg. He doesn’t play gw2.

Pro-tip, lots of asians and people in OCE play together in NA servers.

If you were to ask me if I was dedicated to raids, I’d say no. I was playing a lot more of Overwatch seriously, my attitude in raids were half-baked. To start I got geared, went into dps golem, did rotation, learned at least VG/Gorse/Sab by watching a vid, looked for a raid party (most people here were new) and jumped in. I just winged the rest. There were fails, but not major ones (except for that one time where i did not know the xera shield thing). Eventually I got recruited in a good static group which was really chill (so much banter and such).

If you’ve played mmos for that long then you should know it;s more of a people challenge than a mechanical skill/field awareness challenge. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding the right people with the tools available to you.

One thing everyone should realize is don’t expect to be carried by experienced people. Don’t expect the world to bend according to your preferences. Don’t expect spoon feeding, everyone started with no knowledge of raids and they succeeded. If there’s as many people who claim to want to get in raids but can’t due to experienced groups wanting LI proof, then form a group of new people. Now we have all these resources available to us in text, videos and even a whole website like qtfy, it speeds up the learning curve significantly. Every resource needed to succeed is right there and people just need to pick it up.

tl;dr Everything a new player needs to clear raids is abundantly available, mileage may vary but you can get there.

Why is the endgame so "unrewarding"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bread.7516

Bread.7516

What’s the problem with people working hard for some objective, expecting to be fairly rewarded, benefiting from the upgrade and being substantially more powerful than casual players?

Thanks in advance (I’m looking for constructive answers, this question is really bothering me, perhaps more than it should)

My response is more of a personal preference on gaming. A lot of players, especially mmo people, think hardcore gaming comes from long hours and farming better gear for stats.

My stance is hardcore gamers focus on improving their own skill and comes from the player’s personal improvement whether reflexes, awareness, split second decision making or mechanical skill.

I’ve played a very wide variety of genres and rewarding gameplay for me comes from making calls and pulling it off at a moment’s notice. Sadly, gw2 pve has had huge potential since release but does not allow much depth in terms of their combat system, mostly due to enemies. Key thing I look for is interaction between player and enemy and a few elements in combat such as spacing, timing and opportunistic plays.

To me item grind for stats is not a reward, it’s a bother. I want to improve myself in any game I play than grind for stats and copy a build in (insert meta build sites here) like typical rpgs; performance should mostly come from player than stats.

When you experience that 3-5 seconds of “pro play” in games where u can sit back and just tell yourself “i did that, yeah”, then I think you’ll see what I mean.

Curious why more people don't PvP or WvW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bread.7516

Bread.7516

I do like fighting against other people and I’m quite the competitive gamer in other games, just not gw2. Personally because gw2 combat doesn’t feel like fighting at all, it’s not much of an action game (it;s far from it), it’s more of a moba.

I like combat in a way that hits stagger or flinch (because there is no concept of this, there are no “jabs” in the game), no running while flailing ur weapons (try running while throwing a punch it’s going to be weird and off), the element of zoning and pokes. Without these, combat won’t really interest me much in terms of PvP.

WvW is a bit worse, it’s the commander and his call-outs that are really fighting, everyone else doesn’t really require much in terms of the player’s mechanical skill itself. Before anyone touches on “roaming” I’d rather go sPvP for that, I don’t get roaming at all, it’s quite a waste of time running around just to get 1 or 2 quality fights and it’s not even an even playing field in most cases.

Just to touch on pve, anet’s approach to encounters does get dull really fast due to the fact that to clear any content, especially raids, the approach is a procedure rather than fighting. Because of this, replayability is quite low. e.g. i think CM100 is really fun at start, but grows real dull fast because player is not interacting with enemy (no AI). Enemy just does his own thing regardless of player input, position and situation

tl;dr: Combat isn’t good enough for me. Combat that require more from the player’s skill and is evidently distinct enough to be noticeable across skill levels are games that interest me for pvp (not talking abt ranking but the idea that u just really got outplayed based on skill completely). GW2’s combat does not really allow this in terms of fighting itself.

This is just my opinion and mostly because Im very focused on combat and martial arts in general so my views are a bit biased on some elements closer to fighting games and a few action games that have used these elements well

Raiding as of now

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Bread.7516

It’s not a fight against a boss, it;s a fight against mechanics; player is not interacting with the enemy itself rather enemy does his own thing regardless of what the player does.

There is no sense of actual combat such as control of spacing and timing, positioning is forced or superficial in most cases.

This can be a point of improvement as the challenge of raid encounters is almost only knowing the mechanics.

The spacing may not be applicable due to the direction of where anet wants combat to be, but there is almost no interaction with enemy which makes it a bit dull imo and maybe there can be improvement on that area.

First was constructive, following was insult. Yes it is, it means that’s ALL they play and have no variety in the gaming genre. I can insult him because he’s a condescending prick, so ill be a bigger prick to him.

I’m a player since release and I play the hard content with a group of people i trust. I was looking at raids because initially HoT showed me good potential on anet’s direction on combat, as i said in my first post im disappointed which is my personal opinion.

Honestly I’m disappointed, I wanted a fight not a mini-game/gimmick. For HoT only VB has bosses that are in the right direction (minus the zerg fest). They could work on more diverse behavioral mechanics instead of mini-games.

Dodge duck dip dive dodge…and block, countering, stepping in and out – that’s a fight

Guess this is the direction they’re heading.

If by minigame you mean to actually use brain and think rather than mindlessly press 1 then of course it is.

You mean something everyone has figured out on release? It’s mostly just awareness than anything, not “brain” or analysis; simple observation really.

I want a fight. Block right, dodge right, step in and out. If you don’t understand this then I guess you have no combat experience

fyi – chronomancer, so no, not press 1.

And using cc, splitting groups and positionimg are not? what a joke.

Who said im against CC and splitting groups? positioning in terms of combat is a thing, positioning for the sake of positioning is…a gimmick. Please play an action game or learn how to fight/shoot/military tactics for the very least., you need insight on combat.

This is a feedback thread, I put in my feedback. If you want to play this game, im happy to do so this with you until im bored. Sorry, but you’re the joke. Probably just play mmos all day every day

Can someone explain the logic behind the decision of not including % dmg sigils/potions on monsters and sigil of night?

It’s quite confusing as to why this would not be allowed

They’re clearly just disabling situational and/or mtx related buffs/items.

Sigil of Night was only useful in dungeons that were always night time, potions of flame legion slaying only good in CoF, etc.

For the vast majority of players this stuff being disabled won’t make a difference. They don’t want players switching out sigils or potion buffs depending on the boss they’re fighting, it’s unintuitive and pretty silly, quite frankly.

Yes, I agree that it’s quite annoying and silly to switch around. If this is the case….the ‘fix’ seems like a badly applied band-aid

Bread.7516

To argue this as a suitable reason to say it should be Lowered is Ridiculous, yeh sure i’d love to see 100 odd taken off the total so ur only farming a Extra 100 instead of 200, but at the end of the day Learn to work for ur characters Progression, if u consider this hard or “grindy” u havnt experienced a MMO outside of GW2.

Back in EQ1 u used to Farm for MONTHS for a Key to ENTER THE kitten RAID ZONE, in even World of Warcraft u spend Months and Months Farming the gear no MMO gives u everything within a week, If they gave everyone everything within a week u’d all get 6months down the line and Complain that u’ve been given everything for nothing and that theres no longjevity or pride in Character Progression.

MMOs of yesteryear, you mean sub-standard games designed to suck time more than anything else? There is no pride in character progression based on stats due to the fact that it requires no skill.

We’ve played garbage mmos before, we just refuse to play that garbage again. Which one of GW2’s pitch back before release is not to be grindy and in one of the videos it even said that if you don’t like mmos, you should check gw2 out.

Play the game, not the other way around.

Hero pt cost too high which is HP grind gated behind mastery grind gate. Not playing till changed. Purely my opinion and preference.

To avoid this problem state the fact that it;s 400HP grind gated behind mastery before selling the game then we’d know not to buy, but hey setting expectations is counter-intuitive to sales, yeah? Because we all know sales always look out for our interests (lol).

Not going to ask for refund or anything, just know that to me it only reconfirms that ANET is a company not to be trusted, same as how the rest of the gaming industry has devolved.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Bread.7516

Bread.7516

Also compare it to GW2’s predecessor. In the first Guild Wars, it took A LOT of effort or wealth to unlock all of your skills by the time EoTN was released. How is the decision to make elite specs time consuming to obtain any different of a move?

GW1 you had the freedom to go for a certain skill you want and not play with a crippled build; GW2 – forced to waste points on useless trait lines than directly spend on the elite spec which we want.

Also please don’t give the heavy time wasting grinders the title of hardcore gamers and the opposite to casuals.

Hardcore gamers uplift their own skill and understanding of the game; the human element. Some hardcore gamers just put up with the grind, grinding doesnt make anyone a hardcore gamer.

Why punish dodging?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bread.7516

Bread.7516

I think dodging should be more like Wildstar. You move quickly out of the way, but there is no invulnerability. That actually rewards skill.

There’s no point in having a dodge mechanic if you just eat the damage regardless.

That’s one thing a lot of games need to learn from GW2. Monster Hunter and its competitors have always been really bad about it, in particular.

Monster Hunter does give you invincibility frames when you dodge though, you just need better timing to pull it off.

In the words of great Monster Hunter vets: you need to git gud.

lol, so much this.

he needs to learn about zoning and know when to iframe dodge.

Those downvoters will buy, cry as they might.

You’re sad you don’t get a discount for owning basic? Your fallacy is in comparing the value of GW2 at release with its value today. Considering the recent $10 GW2 sale, the value of GW2 in 2015 is closer to that $10.

Should it come with a slot? Yes, no, maybe, whatever, but if the price of a slot makes you sour, you have bigger problems in life.

The true value of HOT is the new content. If we are getting the same amount of content as a season pack, then I’d be unhappy paying the price tag of a true expansion for what would just be a glorified live update patch.

Also, your buying the xpac supports the game you’ve put 1000s of hours into. You may get some of this new content for free (Tuesday’s patch), but your dollar supports it all the same.

Some of you people have 5k+ hours and you don’t want to drop $50 on the game you play every day?

Haters gonna hate.

I have enough gold to fill up my character slots and still have more than enough to buy legendary weapons (plural) off the TP, and these announcements just made me a LOT more gold.

It’s not a money issue, it’s a problem that these companies insult the gaming community in general. So as it stands no, I am not buying it for $50; I will not pay $50 from a seller that disrespects their customers.

Also, please stop saying those updated content is “free”, it’s not. Only naive people think this.

This is an issue over a divide on the type of players gw2 attracts.

One side is action games where in combat active dodging blocking and reflexes are preferred (more realistic) where the depth is from pure gameplay.

The other side is the RPG people where their character setups are somewhat similar to card games where they see depth in builds and systems.

What people need to figure out is if these are our 2 “extremes” where is anet’s position across that slider bar?

COE Exploit?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Bread.7516

Bread.7516

So the 3 inquest banging on Alpha while he’s not doing anything is an exploit too?

Agent Spire pulling shutting down the console by pulling the lever (and selecting the path) triggers a self defense mechanism in Alpha that grants him unique defensive abilities. Alpha doesn’t care if you bully him, he cares only when you trigger his defensive mechanism (path selection). Once you do that, he goes on a rampage and starts attacking both the player AND the inquest, which is exactly what happens when you do select the path.

The three inquest aren’t actual players who used holes in the coding to attack Alpha while he isn’t in hostile mode. Plus, they don’t ever actually damage him.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t particularly care if people do this, but it is clearly not intended to be done this way (although why they haven’t bothered to put an invisible barrier at the top of that door is beyond me).

Because they have to go through all that red tape for a very insignificant bug. Most you can do with that is take him down about 75%, any more before selecting a path will bug the whole thing and you have to redo.

Everyone has to fight alpha 2 more times anyway so that first encounter where all the effort which only leads to 25% hp less of an insignificant intro fight; time saved is also insignificant if any. People just do this when they feel like it.

Jump dodge is also not inteded, but it;s harmless

tl;dr redtape for a bug that;s quite harmless

he GW2 meta is just as toxic, actually it probably is even more toxic.

There is no such thing as a “toxic meta”, only a handful of ‘toxic’ adherents to the meta, and they do get everywhere. Please, provide your evidence or reasoning for it being worse in GW2 than it is in other MMOs.

Note how many MMOs literally bribe players to join pug runs that might include new or unskilled players.

sorry I’m not some journalist who documents cases of toxicism in mmos for your personal needs of evidence. All I know is I see people get kicked out of dungeons all the time for being necro, and I’ve been kicked at last boss and a ton of other people have been kicked at last boss since the start of the game.

He said evidence or reasoning, a proper one not “I want it to be this game so I tailor information to fit my needs (really poor job at that)”.

WoW is that way, go play it.

Make SteamOS version of GW2 plz

Bread.7516

SteamOS has not even released yet,(only be able to download beta version of it from some secret website that isn’t publicly announced) but now become like top 20 among many linux distros and its amount of population is still increasing.

I’m skeptical that SteamOS, or Linux in general, would be a highly profitable market to port GW2 to. Linux has a whole only has about a 1.34% market share, and I’d say (completely anecdotally) that a not-insignificant amount of those users run some form of Windows on the side, especially if they’re gamers. SteamOS will definitely encourages some growth of Linux-based gaming, but “only able to download beta from some secret website” isn’t exactly a firm foundation at the moment.

Android is also another linux distro for just ARM cpu(not x86 but actually there is x86 version of Android as well that can be run on desktop PC), so it becomes
47.06% (mobile) + 1.34% (desktop) = around 48.40%
In fact, around 48.40% of all the people in the world use Linux actually. you just don;t realize it lol

I mean, SteamOS is based on linux as well, so it has a lot of probability. it just needs some killer games.

What Redenaz said should be the primary starting point on why anet should expand into Linux. Why would a games developer spend resources on something that isn’t there yet or if the maths doesn’t really add up. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

Also, please don;t bring up mobile again because it is irrelevant to this topic.

Unless you’re suggesting they make GW2 run on phones/tablets, that 47% isn’t relevant. And I don’t mean niche gaming tablets, either, but the low-to-high range of devices that actually makes up that 47%.

It doesn’t matter if 48% of the market uses some form of Linux, but 47% of those are devices wildly unsuited to running GW2.

(I’m not even going to question you adding percentages like that if I can avoid it.)

As much as I like linux distros especially for enterprise implementations, in a business perspective for anet I seriously doubt it would be a sensible choice. If it doesn’t make money why invest in it?

Is it the future? to be optimistic – maybe, but it’s all about timing, get in it too early and you get burned.

but people stacking alpha when there are thieves in the party, meaning they cant use the best weapon they have. The earth spike cant be negated when inside his circle anymore so I don;t see much point.

Also, apparently people range hotw p1 troll…why? he’s the same as AC troll…so sad.

Those quotes in that image are irrelevant. It was never intended to be a meta. People really need to comprehend what i write.

That dev is explaining that all playstyles can be used, and it’s funny how that image doesn’t bracket the next paragraph of his.

“My personal approach to stats and skills are based around utility and an even spread. Min-maxing has it’s potential, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I am no help to my team lying dead on the ground, and team-play is more important than personal output, so as long as I can be up helping my team, I am valuable.”

As he said, he wants to play his way, and not Min-max his output for damage. Again, zerker meta was never intended to be the meta.

“Truth of the matter is that even glass cannon builds can be possible in the hands of a skilled player…”

Possible – meaning he most likely had accounted for it. All gear sets are viable, just not optimal. If all gear sets are optimal that is an idealist view and not a realistic one, there is always a meta.

FYI people read and comprehend what you write, it’s you who keeps interpreting dev’s “intentions” too much to your camp. As for the paragraph below the quote “My personal approach…” those 3 words alone, try to comprehend its significance to the statement.

So no, his quote is not irrelevant, you just choose to ignore it. Maybe you want to call up your best friend dev in anet since apparently you have a direct line and know exactly what they intended and accounted for.

- snip -

I’m not using anything as an argument, I agree with Zerker being perfectly viable and doesn’t need any changes.

My post was addressing how you claim the suggestions were terrible and poorly thought out, and you then proceed to use an equally terrible and poorly thought out argument to counter the suggestion.

Basically real combat concept – video game translation. It was a tl;dr where I don’t elaborate on how close reality is a basis for active combat in VGs. It’s not a poorly thought out argument, but I did not immediately elaborate on it intentionally for obvious reasons.

I find it funny how some of you think that it’s not a problem. Yes, OP can play how he wants, but that’s just avoiding the problem altogether. The zerker playstyle was never intended. It just became the preferred de-facto meta, because it’s more efficient, and it’s borderline exploiting the A.I. mechanics. Anet just gives it a pass because they refuse to update the A.I. in old dungeons.

Stacking on a boss isn’t tactical at all, and it’s outright laughable. Any other MMO, even action-combat ones, don’t even have this. They have A.I. that responds accordingly to mindless gameplay like this.

Living story bosses are even more challenging. Anet has proved this, but they just don’t want to update the old dungeons with better A.I., as was said during that video interview during feature pack 2.

So you’re saying playing as a glass cannon was not intended? In a game where damage takes priority over defence or healing? Where damage avoidance is encouraged over damage reduction?

I should’ve clarified more. It was never intended to be a meta playstyle. All playstyles were intended, but the zerker meta became the de-facto meta by the community. It was never intended by the developers, and it was also never encouraged or restricted by the devs (from what i’ve read anyway).

Damage was never supposed to take priority over anything else. The self-reliance of the individual was/is the intended playstyle. This is why all classes got a healing and dodge skill. This is why the traditional trinity playstyle doesn’t work in GW2.

Damage avoidance is only preferred because of dodge, but that doesn’t mean it was ever intended to replace damage reduction.

This just proves that gw2 needs balancing for all different playstyles, otherwise you have one role, which ironically, gives less choice than a trinity mmorpg.

Just to add a few inputs to counter, for intended playstyle see below or sig.

As for dodge, back during development I read it was supposed to not have invul frames but just move you away from the physical hit, they changed it to be easier and probably account for lag. But the concept is the same, completely negate damage by moving away from the blow.

Terrible suggestions and not well thought out.

Can any of these anti-zerker at least get some sort of real combat experience (minimum spar with someone, not booty boxing and pads) however short term it is and complain why your opponent doesn’t get hurt when his fist meets your jaw.

So you’re countering a terrible suggestion with a terrible argument? Comparing a game’s mechanics to real life?

Seeing as reflection is a terrible suggestion because that’s not how it works in real life, let’s look at a few more unrealistic features:

Buffs? No way, out.
Telegraphs on the ground telling you where not to stand? What nonsense is that? Gone
Instant healing? Regeneration? Pfft, don’t even get me started. Shift-Delete

No seriously, I could do this all day…

Taking things too literally, lol that’s one of the worst arguments people can throw back.

3rd person action games, combat. Hand hits face. Not hard to connect the dots see where video games such as this is going towards. Element of fantasy sure, but the core of it touches upon reality. Previous generations of games are limited by technology, though sometimes results can be creatively pleasing, a lot of people like more elements of reality especially on combat; not who has the best macros. Kinect, Wii, PS Move – tries to translate real life movements to video games, technology is pushing towards reality.

Stop forcing a game to be something it’s not. Also, ground telegraphs was implemented for the less skilled. I can’t do this all day because I’m actually a busy person, but please do go on, if it entertains me it would be amusing to share some of me free time.

edit: FYI retaliation, and it’s not commonly a permanent buff for obvious reasons.

Couple of popular and recent action game examples that tries to mimic real elements of active combat while maintaining the fantasy setting. Demon/Dark Souls, Monster Hunter. Is gw2 trying to be a full on action game? no, but it seemse to be going towards a hybrid of action and moba-like (intentionally or otherwise), and in mobas full glass is perfectly viable.

A STEP in the right direction. I agree but it’s not a positive statement. It shows how they just drop everything without real commitment to quality all the time.

A barely baked potato is still not a fully baked potato. They set the moves but where is the AI that decides not to blindly/mindlessly spam? Where is the element of zoning? Why is the teragriff completely immune to CC or immobilize/chill/cripple (what kind of lazy design is this)?

Again they released something incomplete and that is not a good thing. Should I add the terrible hit boxes? Seriously it’s not hard to clean that…not hard AT ALL especially with the actual work of building the engine and most functions of the systems already done. It’s so easy it can be done in minutes. Please don’t give some BS on how hard it is, programming isn’t some sort of magic (especially when someone else already made the engine for you).

Next time they order a turkey in a restaurant let’s see how they like a barely cooked one, maybe they’ll get the message then.

They are using the Colocal character model for the Teragriffs (as pointed out in yesterday’s POI episode), but unlike the Colocal queen in Dry Top, which has an orange “danger path” when it charges, the Teragriffs have nothing to indicate their charging path. The same applies to the vine path they shoot out, which is a visually thin red line, although it has a much wider hit box.

dat copy paste again. Well I shouldn’t be surprised….

lol anyway I do prefer no orange indicators if the game can competently match the aoe and the creature’s model,at least to a level where the phantom range is not absurd.

Clean your "hitboxes"

in Living World

Bread.7516

They use hitboxes, just like every other game. The complexity of the hitbox is the only thing that really changes. For example, the hitbox of a basic character is a simple rectangle. In a shooter however, the hitbox is composed of several rectangles, one for the head, chest, arms, etc.

The Teragriff has long claws sticking out from its sides.

Yes the complexity of the model collision is what I am pointing at on hitboxes.

For attacks they use simple shapes as aoes rather than have proper collision attached on the models itself to activate/deactivate. That’s fine, I’m not expecting dark souls level of detail as I seriously doubt they can even do it.

His rampage/lunge extends way beyond his wings and claws. Just saying, there’s no excuse as to not properly test and adjust the considerable phantom range as it is an easy task.

Mordrem Teragriff (LS boss)- why am i being hit with the rampage / lunge when im clearly out of the way, where his physical model is far from my character. Same issue with the trail

I understand you dont use a hitbox system thus the quotation marks, but seriously some little testing and clean that kitten aoe to reflect the physical model or at least close, it;s not hard to do at all.

Seriously, do a little testing it only takes a few minutes.

RNG is fair if its true RNG… But (I might be wrong so please help find the right answer) Ive read someone that GW2 RNG still has variables that change during gameplay, if this is true then its not true RNG (I know it can never be true RNG, but giving a changing variable, depending on what that Variable is could be HUGE in “fair” factor).

Well they are merely speculation of “I feel like it’s this” and lacks evidence. The variables that affect the RNG such as magic find should still be considered fair since raising their MF% is achievable by everyone.

I would really doubt that the RNG discriminates between accounts because such a malicious implementation would really not serve much purpose.

If you state it’s unfair also state by what definition is it unfair? I doubt the % chance of obtaining one is skewed in a discriminatory or partial manner based on account.

Im saying its unfair not b.c some ppl get 1 and others dont, thats what RNG means.

I feel its unfair b.c players spent 10x the amount playing, working MUCH harder (Learn the game, trying to get better, helping other etc..) never get one where other can get one for basically just getting on once a week kill a random mob, have it drop and never care….

It was a generally directed statement.

Your opinion would be that it is not the right way to do it (pre drop using RNG system) which is fine, but by definition it is not “unfair” since it’s equal opportunity (please correct my terminology when im using it wrong)

You know what. I stand by my fist post. This game is the biggest joke in the world. Never have I ever played a game like this, ever. I stated before. The definition of toughness in the game is to reduce incoming damage, BS. I get ever npc in the area on me and has me downed before I can even cuss the game out. I don’t know what type of gamer Anet was targeting when they made this game, but it wasn’t my type. You know. I see now why there’s no full time free trial to this game. If people really knew how hard is was, they would never buy it. I’m sitting here right now as I’m typing this thinking that very thing. I wasted a lot of my money On a piece of poop game. Anet. You do get 1 award, and that reward is for having the worst game I ever played. Thanks a lot. But you all want to know the funniest part. I’ll still play just cause I bought it and………….. Well that’s all I can say. I bought it. Might as well get my money’s worth out of it.

I guess you don;t like action games then.

My advice would be try to dig up more about a game’s err.. gameplay before buying.

Also, it’s not hard you just have to learn how to mitigate damage without relying on stats. Even tough fighters dodge blows.

3k armor is too high.

You should play warrior though. They are always focused last. Tazza, COE golems, Lupi all love to focus on my ele while ignoring every warrior in the party.

I do have a warrior, and I love his build (full zerk). But I wanted to do a guardian build with lots of armor and vitality to be able to take lot’s of damage. Well I got a lot of damage alright, enough to kill me in less then 3 seconds. Well let me ask everyone this. For dungeon mobs. What’s the highest and safest armor and vitality I can safely go on a guardian build? any feedback from experienced guardian players would be great. Oh. and I want the build for dungeon’s mostly cause if it’s good in them then it’ll be good for the rest of the game PVE. thanks upfront for any and all input/advice.

Full berserker and a good use of blinds and blocks is the short answer.

Basically what he said ^

Dungeon meta builds are wearing full zerk with DPS traits.
For guardians I mainly use GS/ sword-focus.
Your blinds are F1, GS3, Sword 2.
Blocks are F3 aegis, Focus 5, Shelter (heal), Retreat (if additional aegis needed), sword 3 (frontal projectile block only)
That with a guardian’s reflect and dodges, you should be very protected without the need of tanky stats.

It seems like you’re coming from a traditional mmorpg perspective with this, GW2 does not promote dedicated “tanking/healing” roles; so no spank n tank. Try to play it like an action game with a lot of dodging and active defenses. You will get better if you keep doing it, but if you’re really having trouble try the warrior first then branch out to using other classes.
