tera and neverwinter are noskill gear to win facetank stuff. true though, still “action” games

play darksouls or monster hunter in G rank. now those are real action games where getting hit matters

I want to add elementalist Churning Earth to the list. happened to me 3 times today during a run.

Seems like anet cares less about real bugs than “exploits” that aren’t really a big deal

It doesnt have to be this way, what if we could choose a “tank” to make our live easier and take a “healer/support” with us but it would take 40% (2 of 5 dealing less damage) longer than running full DPS but it would be easier.
On the other hand, running full DPS (glasscannon) should be more risky than other setups, but with the reward of being faster (5 of 5 dealing full damage).

This… is what the game already is, minus the “tank” because there is no aggro control skills.

Well… as I said, its not, running full glascannon is the most effective way, but it is not more risky (in most cases) than running with tankier setups or a support, due to the dodges/blocks and slow attacking enemies.

Running full tank you can soak up around 2x the damage taken.

Not from what i have seen. 25% extra, maybe.

And if it was designed to be a action game i can’t figure why ANet spread the skills over 10 buttons, never mind forcing us to hold down a button the whole time we want to control the camera. The control scheme for this game is straight up old school MMORPG. TERA or Neverwinter on the other had has interface designed for action.

yeah tera and neverwinter isnt much of an action game. they’re really not action games. they’re not good examples of an action game. tera is spank n tank game overdone mmo. neverwinter..well..lol.

Dodge and blocks – the risk is timing it right, the game was designed as an action game.

all the arguments you all presented are invalid.

i see roman numerals only. i.e. I, II, III, IV, V …
these numbers tell me nothing.

i do not see the names and description unless i mouse over it.
i must mouse over to check the names and description each time.

tell me how is this better than unique icons identifiable at first glance?
with icons, i can know at first glance what each trait do.

Roman numerals are more classy. Art style. Uniformity. Arenanet cares a lot about visual art style.

And again, evidence to show that roman numerals are supposed to be only alpha placeholders?

btw, is this the bug that looks like youre dodging in place? your character does the animation but barely moves in distance, takes endurance, and has no dodge frames.

There are some random times where everything in my skill bar is unusable as well as picking up bundles. There is no lag present as my connection to your webserver on guildwars2.com is stable, my connection to google.com is stable. Looking at resmon TCP connections, it shows normal. This is a bug, it has been happening since patch.

And what about the guys that judge or kick or don’t trust you because you’re a necro spoj? Yes it was maybe bad to kick him, but i have enough of this, understand me, i bought this game 3 months before and i love dungeons, but it’s much harder for me to ind people as i have 2k AP, i’m not a Warrior, Mesmer and selling spots that can change the economy, now everyone do these because there’s too much golds to gain.

Stop trying to turn this game into WoW / boring spank n tank gear = success mmo.

These people are probably ones that pug a lot and complain why they get kicked when the lfg description says “zerks only”. Also mostly people who have no actual sense of combat or training at least.

logic: more damage = faster kill time.

rather than make dps useless (<—this just sounds dumb) why not improve combos since most of them aren’t very effective on PvE group play. Also, improve the efficacy of conditions as a source of damage on PvE.

pretty much what i see here is just a simple divide of certain crowds.

Usually those who prefer tanky/support/heal-y builds are people who exclusively play mmos/ card game-like stuff/ rpgs most of their time, the traditional spank n tank games.

People who prefer to maximize dps in gw2 are usually gamers who play a variety of games that require good reflexes and hardcore action game fans.

so since you refuse to play on a server that’s closer to you, it isn’t even A-Net’s fault, it’s the fault of people not understanding a closer server should provide better and more efficient latency.

There are no other servers except US and EU. China hasn’t opened and there is no Oceanic and SEA server.

If they say “oh we’re doing good with money” which they have, they need to spend more on servers and networking

no thanks, i like money and it’s here where i live.

Steam servers for dota 2 gives me 60ms and im in the philippines (FYI i only team up and play with friends from the US).

Anet gives >230ms.

Those annoying generators that keep relocating our position, just stop it. it’s really annoying and disorienting especially as an active combat action-like game.

Those pedestals that go up and down on boss room, people get stuck there a lot because of forced positioning again.

The electric floor in boss room, cannot dodge or use endure pain.

Foreman spur, cannot use endure pain on whirlwind attack, also cannot interrupt just before he throws it even without defiant stacks. The damage doesn’t even show on the combat log which leads me to assume you purposely had programmed it differently to achieve certain effects. Don’t ignore your basic combat mechanics and make things a lot more unintuitive.

The funny thing is that even if they removed skipping, the good players will still clear everything ridiculously faster because they will have the most efficient builds for doing so.

Well this is what this whole discussion boils down to. Elitists feeling insecure and thinking that “rabble” is trying to handicap them so that they can’t clear dungeons faster.

The reality is, nobody cares that you clear them faster. We want a better game, not to make you do things slower.

imo limiting ways of interaction or paths to success is a way to make a game worse; having options on how to deal with mobs is better than just having 1 way to do it.

dungeon paths are too linear already.

You can always ask for more ways of interaction and options. You shouldn’t ask for exploits to remain and act like they are a valid tactic.

The problem is that a lot of people prefer to have these exploits instead of a healthy game.

I really don’t think skipping is an invalid tactic or an exploit as the players actually have to interact with the mobs; similar to how gw1 running and aggro control was. Many other games even encourage skipping some mobs.

And in dungeons, for daily speed runs there isn’t that much skipping going on anyway.

You meant always wear mostly berserker/assassins, right? Because I do not believe it’s wise to tell pugs to “pad up”. Especially when most of them couldn’t proc might or fury to save their lives.

well, i really don’t care what they wear as i only run with people with a similar mindset or subculture if you can call it that.

if they want to strive to be better in the sense of accomplishing more in a shorter span of time, a lot of people in the community offer this information freely.

but if they expect specific group setups to accommodate for their heal/tanky builds when not wanted…they really shouldn’t force people to party with them. Why would anyone want to party when unwanted anyway?

btw, id like to ask how you know the developer’s intention of LoS strategies in general. It seems you personally know them and that they told you that general LoS strategies are definitely not intended and thus an exploit. I ask because I bet they thought of the idea since the obvious “no line of sight” message pops up when i aim a skill without..well..line of sight. Maybe they should equip mobs with 4-6.

I do agree it was a broken currency.

I am against taking away karma from a lot of sources to FORCE players to do fractals and dynamic (not really dynamic) events; something akin to plinx farm. We’re already FORCED to do afk autoatk world bosses to get some dragonite ore to get our ascendeds.

It is an insult and a slap to the face that they nerfed it in exchange for 50 luck.

Anet’s method of doing things – 2 steps forward 3 steps backward. bravo

personally, I’m happy they nerfed dailies and monthlies. They shouldn’t be a primary source of anything. It’s not a bad idea that they give a little bit of a lot of things. but 50 is a bit low compered to the other things you get, especially when you consider how much you need to use those things on.
1 laurel = ~3% of an ascended amulet
1 Mystic coin = 0.4% needed for legendary or 1-10% needed for a forge weapon
5s = ~1-5% needed to buy exotic weapon
600 karma = 0.0595% needed for legendary
50 luck = 0.0012% needed for 300% mf

proportionally speaking, you get 1/50 as much luck as the next-lowest reward, and 1/1500 as much as the average. it should at least be proportional to your current luck level like gold is. so should karma, come to think of it.

I do agree on this.

Also, im not just talking about daily but the removal of karma from other sources like dungeons as well

There was always something to spend on with karma, most people just didn’t figure it out.

This is obviously done to slow down people’s progress for ascended weapons. It’s already time-gated and they add this on. Then they give a crap reason of nerfing the daily because of 50 luck….50 luck is nothing; it’s dirt. I could figuratively pick my nose and get 50 luckm

You don’t take back what you give people, that’s just rude.

And when was having too much of a currency ever individually a problem? first world problems much?

you can get the dps of it if build correctly but you will drop as a fly if anything as much as looks at you…..

umm i do arah all paths daily with a few friends on a melee zerk ele. Not as easymode/steamroll to handle as war or guard but definitely doable.

almost anything the ele does the war can easy mode with one hand on its back. THATS a big kittening balance gap between the classes….

fyi: if you mean to say war outshines ele, in terms of dungeon speedruns. LOL you obviously don’t know what’s up in the dungeon scene and you probably still pug.

don;t get me wrong, 1 or 2 wars are ideal to have in dungeons, but when you say eles arent preferred over another war in most situations in dungeons then you obviously have no idea.

post your data please, because there are videos of eles in 5man parties dominating speedkills and holding records, where is your evidence? DPS spreadsheet calculations pls.

imo stationary scripted bosses arent really fun.

Though it seems to be a huge improvement from the current auto-atk > alt tab bosses right now

For lupi I have been taking my guard which takes considerably less aggro, though I feel like Im cheating when Im using said gained tokens to buy my ele stuff (sort of like I show off Liadri on my ele when it was my guard who defeated her, my guard is my slave of effectiveness and my ele is ripping the benefices….lol)

I encourage you to push your limits and try out stepping away from your comfort zone. By doing that it helped me play better.

Here’s one of our simple arah p3 runs, it’s definitely one of our longest/worst ones (thus the title arahahaha). We pretty much do this daily and we sometimes just go on casual mode.

starting the lupi fight, i didnt immediately nuke to take away some aggro and watch out if he kicks immediately. Phase 3 i tried moving around less and just being stationary if nothing is hitting me.

Just out of curiosity, what are your traits, runes, stats?

Are you using Scholar or Ogre? I have been using Ogre lately since I cant seem to be able to stay above 90% hp when everything is targeting me. I have been using 3020/0/0/20 staff but I might give the conjures a try given how high the damage I saw there

pretty typical s/d 30/20/10/10/0 all directed to damage with scholar runes, but i used ruby when i first created my ele just to feel it out before committing to scholars.

If your party is good on fury (100% up time) and lacking in vuln then i think it’s better to use 25/25/10/10/0

just to add: in my experience a lot of my survivability will relies on your mes and team on positioning and feedbacks during the run

In the video he shows throwing boats, doing a swooping tidal wave dive.

Question: Does he physically move in space, or is it just some new animations and his body is physically stationary or sometimes just not able to take damage (like when he swoops)?

noticed this in CoE and Fractals in general, im not kidding you when I tell you that my entire premade always has me running around not doing much because most of the fight the bosses go for me regardless of what I do……. back when the mobs in Giant fractal could show the /point it would ALWAYS be me, even if I was at the back. Lupicus ALWAYS goes for me until Im dead in second phase. It doesnt matter if I only attacked once, he will go for me. My guild always laugh at it but Im sad because I have to pay the zhaitan shard swith my body and repair gold :C

A tip for CoE golem boss, have your friends (Warriors) use mace 5 when they see it, mesmers and guards do reflects.

For yourself, sometimes u just cant dodge because of the ring, bring arcane shield. And if you’re using lightning hammer conjure, use your own #3 for CC.

For Lupi, phase 1 > basically just dodge grubs and the kick, you’ll get the hang of it.
phase 2> dodge the swipe, mes pretty much handles phase 2 with reflects.
phase 3> this is going to suck if you’re rolling pure DPS and aggro is on you. my utility for this fight is usually [Armor of Earth][Lightning Hammer][Lightning Flash].

Armor of Earth for stability to get out of bubbles (not ideal because of cd but dnt knw what else to use) use mistform instead if you’re not a conjure ele.

Lightning flash to get out of whatever, it’s versatile.

I’m trying to do away with armor of earth since it means 10% less crit dmg for me. Recently on phase 3 I haven;t been moving as much so i don;t get bubbled often, not sure if bubble triggers when you move too much or something.

k, so i took out 10 on earth, i pretty much have base toughness as with all in our party. CoE golem boss > i wait a bit before going in > i dial down dps and not do the combo in quick succession > guess who’s target #1 the whole fight? yeah, the ele.

imo i think something needs to be looked at in terms of aggro for eles

Anyone figure this out yet? my entire group wears identical stats of berserker gear. only other thing i can think of that’s different is i have 10 on earth and it gives me 100 more toughness.

And why is toughness a factor? why not overall armor instead? it makes more sense this way

As with any business, trust is hard to earn but easy to lose.

GW1 – arenanet earned that trust.

GW2 – throughout all the crap I’ve been put through, they lost that trust and will be treated the same as other game companies we despise.

Is it really that hard? I mean, I log on and do my daily however I want and I get ascended gear out of it. I don’t call that a grind. It’s time gated yeah, but its not like it’s such a major stat buff that I can’t get groups or I’ll die without it….

It’s not hard, though it’s kittening annoying. Why can’t I get BiS gear by doing challenging content like fractals 80 and not by spamming 1 during those “world” events? Wait, I don’t even spam 1, I just leave autoattack turned on and watch a movie. Is this game really skill > gear? Is this how “end content” should look like? Standing in LA near crafting panel.

and when ascended armor comes out, ascended WILL be the gear check in the future. (the total difference is huge)

They also removed karma from dungeons, which is dumb.

Anet is forcing us to play their terrible zerg/no skill/boring/no loss scenario meta events/light show and their terrible dynamic events that aren’t dynamic.
That or do Fractals which give garbage rewards.
Inaccessible WPs are a minor inconvenience, not a consequence.

Garbage sanctum sprint lightning leap mechanic? in the form of a flower (check)
Excessive use of trampolines? (check)
Melee Assassins almost impossible to hit when having a little lag? (check)

You’ll be dying so much to these assassins even though you think you hit them or dodged properly.

I assure you, it;s not a money problem in terms of ISP. my rig is > $3000 and i have 3 connections in my home for different purposes.

Steam gives me 100ms on dota 2 on a BAD day; <50ms on a good one.

The most common exploit.

I’m not gna comment the “against a wall” thing, but the blink trick is not a big deal since cooldown for it is huge (40s)
