It’s assumed you need to provide Fury as well. If I were just focusing on dmg, I’d go 0/20/25/25/0, or 10/10/25/25/0 if I wanted Conjurer. You lose DPS via Comet, but it’s also assumed that Comet is necessary to upkeep maximum might. You wouldn’t use it if pre-stacking.

I did a few rough computations. This pure DPS setup 10/10/25/25 with assumed max might banners food and all that stuff, actually do a lot less than 30/20/10/10 without bolt to the heart.

I always could be wrong, care to do the math on your end, do a comparison and please let us know?

Do I really have to explain the results player collision would have on the whole dodge mechanic? So much of the combat in this game hinges on dodges and player collision would be a disaster. Even if dodging temporarily negated player collision you would get bounced all over the place when the dodge finished. Sounds horrible.

You mean punishing clumsy players who don’t notice their position and surroundings? Sounds so real and like…a legit action game, oh no.

Dodge has evade invuln frames anyway. If anyone actually plays action games they don’t have this huge of an invulnerability allowance, they use it to get away from the attack, either side stepping, back stepping, etc..which what dodging is.

Most games have like a 1/15 – 3/15 (1/5) of a second moment of invuln.

Ah, well now I know what that amd patch does. Didn’t think the order of the pods mattered, they share resources and the FP unit but other then that they were equal. I’m still not sure how you guys consider %80 a bottleneck when I can easily peg both pods at %100 which means I have %20 of the CPU sitting idle that no one can answer.

Stacking doesn’t really “trivialize” content/dungeons. Skilled players do. If you really believe stacking = instawin then you’re probably a bad player.

With that said i actually want to see a body blocking feature, it’s more “real”. Also want to see disorganized zergs in wvw deal with body blocking and laugh at them tripping on their toes. That feature will open up a LOT more strategic play. GW1 had body blocking, i guess they didnt put it here because they actually like AFK auto atk zerging events.

For ele, is that 25/10/25/10 a proposed DPS dungeon build? I assume that’s LH build for the conjures.

has the math been done to compare with a 25/25/10/10?

If group needs PF (running only 1 ele), how would you allocate the traits to get 30 on fire? or is PF outdated?

Yes, it’s a lightning hammer build. It trades 10% dmg >90% HP for a more reliable 10% damage on burning targets. Elementalists have a lot of good trait choices, depending on the needs of the group. They are one of the few classes I would say doesn’t have a be-all, end-all meta trait build. If your group would like an ele for fury stacking, you can go persisting flames, but if your composition gives enough group fury it’s not necessary to have.

I actually put together some rough calculations, not sure if i didn’t make a mistake.

It shows that 25/25/10/10 does more DPS without bolt to the heart kicking in yet, and not considering the vuln stacks for 25 air.

Though the 15% Base damage boost from 25 earth is good, i would guess why 25/25/10/10 pulled through was because of the passive DPS boost from a combination of precision and crit damage? (though ofcourse base dmg boost is usually more valuable)

oh nice then. our last try we didnt get the chance to test aegis since we just chained feedback, warden, and guardian proj blocks. but good to know u can aegis as a safety net. that’s like 2 safety nets with retreat

from my perspective, im fine with instakill stuff and difficulty. the moves are usually very very telegraphed anyway. im also not a stranger to it since i made love with demon;s souls and dark souls so many times.

mainly the problem is the game has too many unintuitive and inconsistent design; no polish.

for bosses, there are only 2 or 3 that can be considered an actual boss and these bosses including lupi are like a cheap version of what most action games offer in terms of behaviour and movesets. I guess they didnt pay too much love for enemies in the game, but it is one of the main factors why gameplay stays fun.

it’s easy to make something difficult (just do a jay wilson), it’s harder to make something challenging.

I doubt it’s to scare sellers or pugs. I bet it’s for job security. Similar to that SE dungeon change at the beginning where they removed the bridge. Unnecessary minor change just to show some form of productivity.

But the alphard change isn’t much of a big deal, a bit harder and less of an AFK rotation spamming fest.

Just fix that guardian burn already, the thing is just annoying.

You don’t need a ele frostbow to do it, just some people with power based builds that can attack object effectively.

To be quite honest I would be disappointed if any of the dungeons were newb easy. Messing up and learning is how it was done to begin with. Now that all the dungeons have been reduced to their bare essence and put on youtube there is no excuse for the laziness of not knowing basic dungeon mechanics however. Not knowing basics in this day and age = fail at googling. Besides, once you know what to do nearly every dungeon in this game is relatively simple.

Step 1. Research your path. Youtube is a good resource.
Step 2. Have a build that isn’t terrible and know how to use it effectively in a dungeon setting. Terrible builds are ones that don’t include DPS as a main consideration.
Step 3. Execute strategy.
Step 4. Profit

I think queen’s general point is main objectives in a dungeon shouldn’t really need research. but on the flipside, only power stat counts to help with the event so it may be a bad example.

In short: game is not intuitive, and to some extent i agree.

Off the top of my head:
- AC troll orb is not a projectile and unblockable.
why? that is just ignoring the same combat mechanics anet boasted. we expect to block things, we expect to absorb reflect projectiles when it definitely looks like one.

- First floor tower of nightmares champ hydra boss. same issue, his multishot life blast. Again that definitely looks like a projectile. why cant i reflect/absorb it?

- Arah p1 before final boss. there are 2 rooms that shoot what is seemingly a projectile at you. NOPE it’s not a projectile says anet.

- Southsun cove LS, canache fight. explain why land mines only explode when we step on it and it doesn’t when the boss steps on it (unless “activated” which becomes the opposite)? FYI general understanding of land mines is if anyone steps on it, it goes boom. It doesn’t ask who stepped on it. It doesn’t even look like a futuristic landmine with identity recognition.

- Lupi eats grub > stronger atk and amror > absolutely 0 visual representation. No scrolling over his buffs and reading it is not a good way of conveying this. Do not expect people to read buffs to get the general idea. reading it is additional insight, not a driving mechanic especially in an action-LIKE game.

I would expect poison gas, burning floors and etc to be unblockable, but i expect to block objects that are hurled towards me. keyword: intuitive.

I’m sure there are more unintuitive mechanics or objectives in the game that are left unpolished since obviously we all bought an early-access game (hyperbole – but the general idea is there).

It is affecting my gameplay because less people want to do dungeons in a traditional way. It isn’t against the rules yet, but it should be. I don’t play this game for numbers (yea, those dungeon tokens and achi points are just numbers) but for content – meaning for example challenging and interesting boss encounters. Moreover, most people tend to forget that it is a MMO Roleplaying game. How am I supposed to roleplay a dragon-slaying hero when I see folks jumping across walls in undead-haunted city to get a shiny chest once a day?

The way YOU understand, play the game, or have fun with it is not the same for other people. If everyone had the same mindset as you that would be a really really really boring world due to monotony.

Sorry, but your earlier argument of “stop players from doing this because less people party with me” is a bit selfish and absurd.

There were also some…anomalies in GW1 like all 8 party members using the very same build (Ursan) or Assassins soloing half of the UW – it actually required some skill and experience so for me it was fair.
I think my problem is that: I started playing from the headstart and I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of possibilities, areas to explore etc. Then I had about 7 months of break and when I came back it was like this game had been around for 3-4 years, everything was done, everybody had completed the whole content. So now when I discover those end game activities, they are already being farmed instead of just being played. Selling dungeons makes it harder for new players to learn tactics and it spoils the game. Hovewer I understand that it is a result of a lack of new challenges for accomplished players.

On the topic of learning strategies, youtube videos of those runs are more than enough of a tutorial to learn the strategies on how to handle the dungeon. Observers just need to be attentive.

wow seriously, spider queen example again?

corner is mostly for speedruns, pugs get the wrong idea of surefire win.

corner is mostly for mini-spiders not really the queen. (we pull everything including the queen in 1 go, not like some scrub that pulls in waves – pugs with the wrong idea).

all melee queen (no stack) = aoe isnt even a problem.

stacking = harder to dodge the weakness debuff due to the animation harder to see, if you don’t dodge when stacking you’re a bad player.

not stacking, aoe problem? you can WALK out of the way – occasionally dodging it. (have you people even picked up an action game? not those “a 5 year old can finish it” games like god of war or some crap)

real dungeon veterans can clear these dungeons half awake/drunk/high/maybe all at the same time with or without stacking. we stack because it’s faster; success is a given.


Agree with few posts above, gw2 dungeons are…..tiny in terms of scale and not quite as good as gw1.

just to add, AC in gw2 is really really tiny with a pathetic number of chambers compared to gw1.

gw2 dungeons have no character. guild puzzles are better maps for dungeons than the dungeons themselves.

Hammer has been verified many many times as the best DPS guardian weapon from other people than just me. It’s almost all over the guardian forums as soon as someone says “hammer is bad it attacks way to slow” everyone and their mom comes out calling it the best DPS a guardian can achieve.

Show evidence.

I’m sure most people here know how dps generally works, we all tried hammer before (we really did) it’s a cool weapon but as a max dps weapon it just isn’t.

but if you know something we all don’t please prove us wrong with math.

DPS is a plus. If it is 4 zerk warriors and one guardian they didn’t bring him for dps they brought him for reflects condi clear and stability almost no groups I have been in have claimed I was bad because I was the one doing all the support. And I don’t do that build for my survive the high toughness=high aggro draw which in several boss fights (Andal the Thug for those that actually run other dungeons besides the speed clear). A high toughness guard keeps the entire group alive because of toughness Andal aggros on absoutely noone else in that fight, just the char with the highest toughness.

^ if you need that much condi clear or if your mesmer doesn’t use nullfield in some situations.

most dungeon paths you don’t really need that much condi clear but depends on group dynamic. you always want your HP above 90% so you don’t lose dps on scholar runes so sometimes condi clear is preferred

personally i prefer the 10/30/0/5/25.

As i said, we try to be better/faster and not just stick with comfortably padded builds. Just youtube a speedrun and aim for that, simple enough.

Sword focus guardians are always the first ones down in almost every group I am in. In some instances they go “down” so much that they are eventually just dead and you can’t DPS when you are straight dead. ………………………. There is a reason most dungeon groups want at least one guardian and it’s not because of the guards DPS I promise you that.

sad to say you play with very terrible players.

People bring guardian for unique utilities while bringing high dps; aegis, reflects and group stability (sometimes..lupi phase 2 transition?) off the top of my head (and no, not protection from hammer) while having kitten high dps.

Most regular people here in the dungeon forum strive to be better players, aim for the best, and do not sit in a “because i’m comfortable with the padding build”.

I’m not against people selling dungeons slots, but I think it should be discouraged. The fact that I can only buy a slot for an Arah party now, is absurd. I think mechanics should be added that make sure you actually do the entire dungeon from start to finish, or you won’t get the completion achievement. It might suck for people who disconnect halfway through, but something has to be done about the lack of people doing this run for free. You can join any random party for Ascalon Catacombs or Caudecus Manor, yet you can find zero parties for Arah, unless its sold for gold? That’s stupid. The dungeon itself needs a revamp, so you can’t skip through it so easily, and need a full party to do it. They also need to find a solution to the problem of people being kicked right before the final chest.

yeah it will suck for those who disconnect, if you check out the current dungeon designs it provides buffers to people who dc during runs. Your suggestion would make a total 180 and invalidate current designs. Why not just flag characters at certain checkpoints instead? simple enough. An example of the checkpt flagging would be CoE changes to 3in1

Fighting or fleeing from mobs are a choice, there is no reason why style of gameplay should be limited just because some people want to play superhero.

I do agree on more choices but fact is the game doesnt allow that flexibility.

well here’s a suggestion off the top of my head.

example:
bearbow, but really just longbow ranger.
Make it into more like a real bow shot, not some rapid firing BS

- make longbow autoatk dps be better than melee dps. to compensate for garbage boon range because tbh who hangs out @ 1200 range?
- make each attack have a 2-3 second cast time with -33% movespeed when “channeling”
(seriously, running sideways while swinging weapons already sickens me).

so i guess the risk here isnt survivability, more like if u dodge or have terrible footing u just took a huge chunk of your dps out while maintaining a high potential dps.

just off the top of my head

actually we kinda do, we have a trick to it. not really.

push him onto a wall, stand just outside his circle so he doesnt move around, when he jumps dodge into the wall.

anyway, i really don’t think it’s mainly the difficulty of the spider queen herself is why people los and stack. It’s plainly just faster since it’s slow and annoying to kill those mini spiders 1 by 1. This way you get rid of everything in 1 shot. Though many people still don’t know how to lure spider queen in 1 shot…. learn to open your eyes people, not just be passive dps and get carried

If spider queen was by herself i think it’s even faster to just surround melee her since her weakness attack won’t cleave everyone thus reducing risk of lower dps through weakness condition because some guardian cant pop aegis or people have a broken dodge button. Thief can even maximize his potential dps if there was only the spider queen due to backstab positioning.

tl;dr this stack los strat is for the mini spiders quickly, not the queen. queen is easy, acid pools arent even a problem unless player seriously has slow reflexes or just some unfortunate snafu

If you don’t want to wait for spire, you can exhaust his 2 “stomps” yourself then luring him to the corner and dps down.

There is no animation or tell because probably someone was in a rush and screwed up putting in an animation for those moves. And after >1year they still haven’t put in something so simple. Do not count on arenanerf to fix anything, they only know how to nerf , they dont know how to fix.

other dungeons are actualy fun but this is lame.

There are very few 1 shot mobs I can think of and I run full zerk ele.

The lupi projectile aoe can be avoided in a lot of ways, you don’t even have to dodge everything.

About this slow instakill animation that roots you, i think you’re referring to the crusher and hunter boss. If this is a problem for you, why not take a condi/immobile remover? or a block/invul utility?

This just seems like you don’t really know the dungeon very well. Youtube videos of runs can help a lot.

used remover got rooted again befor got out of range not once lol
if I could show the pic when Lupi puts around you so many aoes that you cant dodge out and hits you sooo many times that no reflect or block would save you I would.

phase 2 mass aoe can be dodged and walked around. If that’s not enough you always have the F1 skill. Many people solo lupi and have to deal with this mass aoe burst.

you dont really need block/invul, it;s just a suggestion you can use your spectral skill that teleports you if it really is such an issue. if you get rooted in succession that often during hunter/crusher get someone in your party to drop a reflect on the hunter.

In any case these are just suggestions, lupi isn’t really hard when you know how to take him down. I suggest checking out necro solo lupi video if he’s the biggest problem you have in your run.

you don’t get it do you ? there are sometimes that you CANT walk around or dodge bicous he puts an AoE in every single place multiple ones without any free space in every direction and yeah I have 30K hp + Deathshroud still getting insta killed if this happens circles hitting you multiple times….

How petulant. I get a strong air of, “I think I’m a good player and if you say something isn’t as difficult as I say it is then that means I must not be a great player so you have to be wrong,” or, “My experiences are more valid than your experiences” from you.

Yeah, it’s cool, you’re frustrated or whatever, but honestly, just go watch a Lupicus solo and see what those players do if you’re so bamboozled. And ditch the necro, literally one of the bottom rungs of all classes to engage Lupicus with.

yep watched and not in a single video happened something that happened with me in there. its not hard then I did the boss also a few times now but when THAT happens you 100% going down.

This is a good find. Have you found any workarounds for this?

It does not always happen, just at certain times and not even every day. when i posted this, it was happening and i spent around an hour going in and out of instances.

I think it’s merely a network congestion problem. I didn’t find a workaround yet. Maybe if there was some way to make the game drop you into a new IP (or reroll for a new one) than the one you previously used, but i don’t know of any method that does this.

Thief opportunist trait nerf

You just nerfed the thief sustained dps meta in group plays which is one of the main reasons people bring thief in the first place; good single target dps rotation.

barely brings group dps support, no unique dps buffs like banner/spotter/emp allies/etc. And now you took a bite off his single target dps.

About this slow instakill animation that roots you, i think you’re referring to the crusher and hunter boss. If this is a problem for you, why not take a condi/immobile remover? or a block/invul utility?

This just seems like you don’t really know the dungeon very well. Youtube videos of runs can help a lot.

necro don’t have block invul
used remover got rooted again befor got out of range not once lol
if I could show the pic when Lupi puts around you so many aoes that you cant dodge out and hits you sooo many times that no reflect or block would save you I would.

phase 2 mass aoe can be dodged and walked around. If that’s not enough you always have the F1 skill. Many people solo lupi and have to deal with this mass aoe burst.

you dont really need block/invul, it;s just a suggestion you can use your spectral skill that teleports you if it really is such an issue. if you get rooted in succession that often during hunter/crusher get someone in your party to drop a reflect on the hunter.

In any case these are just suggestions, lupi isn’t really hard when you know how to take him down. I suggest checking out necro solo lupi video if he’s the biggest problem you have in your run.

you don’t get it do you ? there are sometimes that you CANT walk around or dodge bicous he puts an AoE in every single place multiple ones without any free space in every direction and yeah I have 30K hp + Deathshroud still getting insta killed if this happens circles hitting you multiple times….

I think i get it pretty well since i do this almost every day multiple times. i also sometimes solo with zerk gear. im trying to give some advice but if you don’t want it and just want to make excuses for yourself then good luck with that.

sometimes the boss puts down too many aoe around you even if you would have like 5 dodge you would still end up inside an aoe with no room to evade ( instakill )
Bosses with slow animation so that you could dodge it but it also roots you so you cant dodge ( instakill )
Trash mobs wiping pugs sometimes (lol)

etcetcetc….
other dungeons are actualy fun but this is lame.

There are very few 1 shot mobs I can think of and I run full zerk ele.

The lupi projectile aoe can be avoided in a lot of ways, you don’t even have to dodge everything.

here is my opinion:

Arah is not fun ONLY annoying Arah Punishes you for every single mistake for rewards that don’t worth it in the end.

Arah is pretty much the only reason I still log on.

It’s not as hard as you describe, there are a lot of youtube videos people post that can help.

< 30 mins for 2g, and the hologram room at the end that’s just a mess.

we sometimes do it but not often, it’s on our low priority list on dungeons to do within the day.
until there’s a clean strategy for that holoroom i don’t think we’ll be interested in doing it very often.

Also, that unskippable conversation at the beginning of TA..wow ..annoys us every single time

Unplayable lag on specific game server IPs

Every time I hit certain game servers with this IP the lag becomes unplayable;
when i go in an instance the lag becomes unplayable, but when i exit the map it’s all fine.

Specifically these IPs (mostly tested on personal story instances)
Bad IPs: 64.25.33.42, 64.25.33.74, 64.25.33.70, 64.25.33.65, 64.25.38.66, 64.25.38.147
Good IPs: 64.25.38.161

I really don’t think it’s on my end as when the IP changes it’s fine.

TL;DR Anet has network congestion problems with some game servers
type /ip in the chat bar to see which game server IP you belong to

I think the only thing that makes me more sad than people who skip Kholer are people who have to stack and LoS him.

These groups don’t “have to” pull and los him. They do it because it’s faster. The idea of doing something slower just for the hell of it is what’s sad to me. Not because you actually waste time by doing so, but because if you are not striving to do things as well as they can be done then what’s the point. Most people don’t enjoy just doing things, they want to be good at them and do them efficiently, which in this case entails stacking up, stacking might, los’ing and killing him as fast as possible.

Are you really trying to suggest that stacking and LoS’ing is more skillful than fighting him in the designated fight space?

Because it’s not.

Are you suggesting that killing kohler is in any way a display of good skill? because it’s not; it really isn’t and if you’re proud of your kohler killing abilities then that’s just as much as a guy proud of finishing primary school with an award for participation.

When they finally fix lupi skip properly you will see a lot less sellers. Which will make everyone in rT a lot happier seeing as we dont skip lupi when we sell.

I’m fairly certain this has to do with their ‘fix’ to the animation bugs.

They fixed the animation bug with Whirlwind Attack, and with the same patch, this bug shows up? Doesn’t take much to figure out what’s wrong.

It seems to me all skills that cause the fumbles are skills you used to use to animation glitch.

Whirling Wrath, Whirlwind Attack, Axe #2…

We should test more skills that were used to animation bug and see if they cause fumble dodges.

Maybe it worsened during the “fix”, but i think this has been around as long as i can remember. It was a thorn on the side that just kept annoying and digging in.

churning earth and the earthquake (stomp animation) also does this frequently.

male GS stance is actually…wrong.

female low-guard is correct.

my main issue is the last upswing on human female GS…looks really like she’s just tossing it up with no power at all. If you guys wanted to make it an upswing, make it a solid blow.

2nd issue, why does a male with fire greatsword conjure get the 100b animation and females only get single repeated upswing animation?

better dungeon maps and not some linear/tiny/stuffy maps.

Good examples would be like angvar’s trove or langmar estate, those places have character

custom and resizable UI pls

that huge and unnecessary portrait and enemy hp bar when selected is annoying as hell, it covers up the enemy if large enough or flying

Not only the UI, but within the game itself.

This is an action game, so dodging enemies and knowing the tells are important.

It’s hard to do this when there is a light show happening on the enemy’s body, even in 5man instances.

Guardian F1 has been a thorn on everyone’s side due the the huge effect it covers
