I’m not sure if your pulling our legs or not, have you played GW2 at all? The White Manfle are very bad people. You fight them all the time in the human PS.

But indeed, this is a rather asinine move. That’s like playing a game on easy or normal difficulty and the game suddenly telling you that unless you play on hardcore or insane difficulties, some story parts will be censored for you. Or more analogous: playing Uncharted with the game telling you halfway through: “We’ll now skip chapters 15-17 and only give you a brief summary of what’s happened in them. If you want to experience it for yourself, complete the first act of Dark Souls.”
It’s stupid, it’s unfair, it penalises players that are not “hardcore enough” (and many even have the skill for raids, but can be kitten d to spend half a day looking for nine other people) and it drives away another segment of your playerbase.
Between PVP people being annoyed, WvW people being annoyed, that’s quite a dangerous thing for the game’s future to do.
All story related content in raids will be covered in the LS in some form.
If it’s like the whole scarlet video and the start of season 2 where they bang on about something that happened that you can not experience for your self, then that will not be good enough. I don’t raid simply because I do not have the time. I also do not play during peak hours so even why I have time, finding a group takes up most of my game time, and I end up leaving the group because I know I will not have the time to do the raid, and that’s not fair on the other players.
Now I am looking forward to see what LS3 will be, and I’m interested in how the raid will figure into the story if at all.
Eeerrhm… please correct me if I’m mistaken, but way back, when raids were first released as the “top tier hard content only a few players will be able experience”, didn’t the devs also say that their story will be completely separate from the main plot?
Then why is the trailer full of Xera’s castle and White mantle hints? You know… the stuff that was supposed to be contained to raids? Hello? Or do you think most “single-player people” (where personal story is analogous to playing any singleplayer game on easy/normal difficulty) will just handwave being basically told “Oh we can’t let you experience all of the story because you’re not good enough/dedicated enough player, so just catch up.”?
(And if some smartpants Jack runs over here to tell me to “learn 2 play noob and go raiding”, I actually am a raider, I’m killing the raid bosses on weekly basis, so it technically doesn’t concern me, but that doesn’t mean I can’t find it a bit of a kitten move towards those who can’t raid, in case it’s what it seems to be.)
Because ANet are going to reuse the raid maps for the LW most probably, so everyone can see the “raid” but not.
This would make getting ascended pointless, or it would become only for fractal players. Seeing as how easy it is to get full exotic this would also kill the economy. Why make ascended when you can pay a few gold for a 5% stat increase.
Then you’ll have the people complaining about all the gold they spent on ascended being wasted. One of the reasons for making ascended was for the 5% stats.
I don’t mean to sound harsh or anything, I can just see this doing more harm than good.
E3 is over hyped anyway. So many games over hyped during it, and most never live up to expectations.
^This, the most resent offender that I can personally remember was Aliens: Colonial Marines. The E3 footage looks like a completely different game. I still enjoyed A:CM, but it was nothing like it was shown, it was about as close to a bate and switch I have ever seen.
The only reason they’d rework the Zhaitan fight at this point, to be honest, is if they get the desire to rework the personal story entirely so that it is repeatable content.
However, given that they seem completely okay with leaving an entire storyline out of the game, leaving hundreds if not thousands of players (with increasing numbers as time goes on) confused as to what happened between the personal story and Season 2 (even leaving some folks thinking that the personal story is season 1), I don’t see ArenaNet reworking the personal story (again, technically).
What I hope they do, instead (okay not really instead because I would love for them to fully rework the PS to be replayable and to bring back S1 as permanent content), is rework the five temple metas to be on par to Vinewrath/Octovine/Shatterer, and the Gates of Arah fight to be on par to Tequatl/Mouth of Mordremoth. Would also love the Ancient Karka, Twisted Marionette, and Prime Hologram fights to become Guild World Boss missions or something.
They have said many times, they cannot make the PS replay able dew to the way it’s coded, when they did look into it, it was very buggy, that had permanent progress blocking bugs, all 3 mentors showing up in the same story step. ANet then made the decision to not continue with trying to make the PS replayable. They where simply braking more things than they could fix.
I can see what you are talking about. Sure, hovering over a skill and showing what the skill does is important, but it is rather large. And with the UI scale, with the skill bar, we only get, what, two options, I believe? I wish it could have more cutomization, too, like WoW does. I can’t even resize my Hero page/the BLTC. I have to make sure I am not doing anything important or in the way of enemies when I pull that kind of stuff up.
Hope something is done soon…

I have an idea, lets just have an “I win” button. Press it and you get everything in the game. That way you don’t have to do anything, and can do everything in game with no effort what so ever, just what everyone wants from there games right?
i know i didnt make it clear. im not asking for themn to rework the story instance of zaitan fight. im asking to give it the same treatment as mordy. mordy has the instance fight for story and he has the awesome meta event. imagine zaitan during a huge meta event? F2P account experiencing that at the end of vanilla will make them wanna but HOT to see how we rekt mordy. less than 1% of gw2 players base plays raid so putting it inside an instance will remove its epicness. im also just wanna say im not against raids but making content for the 1% of players to see is not 2016 mentality.
That would involve re doing all of Cursed Shore. That is a lot of work.
Seeing as you can’t replay the PS, it would be a waste of resources, as you only play it as many times as you have characters. No need really is there if you really think about it.
BLC’s are there to keep you spending money/gold on them. If you are foolish enough to spend money or Gold on RNG, then that’s your decision to make. I made the mistake of buying keys back during first Halloween, because we where under the impression that you would get the skins, after 75 keys, and nothing to show for it, I never bought them again. They really are not worth the money/gold, they will not change them untill people stop buying keys.
I wasn’t suggesting Reward Tracks in PvE, but Rewards Tracks for PvE in PvP and WvW, players who want to do as little of their playing time as possible in PvE would I image appreciate it.
Yet, if you are a PvE player, you have to play PvP and WvW if you want to make a legendary weapon etc, so I don’t see why things need to be made even easier than they already are. Next thing people will be asking for the game to just play it’s self and a I win button.
Such bug is very spread and has been happening for a while at several locations. It may even be related to being teleported when jumping out of water, going down or jumping off a cliff… the root cause might be all the same.
Yeah, the fields of ruin had this bug map wide I remember it would teleport you random places if you logged out and back on to the map, it even put me outside the map, there is a big old sea behind Ebonhawke.
I need it for HOPE Vol. 4 collection and its bugged all time… Please fix it..
Do it after patch drops, might be your only chance as everything will be reset, normally events only bug after they are first completed, though I’ve know this event to have been bugged for a good 6 months or so before HoT launched.
They are meant to be a prestigious items, and something not everyone is supposed to have.

Last time I played this game, farming in game currency (which is gold,silver and copper) was a pain in the neck, my question is: its still same? I’d also like to know if there’s any new solo/story content? there was literally nothing to do as end game content, except endless pvp
When was it hard to “farm” gold? I farm most of my gold from PvP. I’ve made 50 gold this week from playing mostly PvP, and doing the Bandit daily.
I think a reward track for when you’re out of masteries and/or at level 80 is definitely a nice idea.
And if I entertain the idea, something that would unlock random or select waypoints (but waypoints only) is not a terrible idea. As long as it doesn’t unlock Hearts and PoIs. And such a track should only be unlocked once you already gotten full exploration on another character.
Making them accountbound all together seems like a bad idea for those people who really like exploring. They would basically be helped along when they don’t want to.
But with the right restrictions and limitations I don’t think it’s unreasonable to let people unlock waypoints on alts once they did it before at least. Could even make it so you can only unlock crucial waypoints near world bosses and dungeons.
Definitely not needed though. You can just use teleport to friend if you want your character to be there and you havent discovered that specific area yet.
The level 80 boost unlocks some as well. And if you’re going for a gift of exploration I would basically suggest to use WvW to at least unlock heropoints. (because gift of battle is possibly needed anyway.)You are right, Reward Tracks for exploration should NOT ever be account bound.
Everyone is reward track crazy at the moment, and in PvE it is very easy to farm XP, making reward tracks in PvE is unnecessary and farmable. Grabbing way points would be alot quicker to do than just farming XP to unlock random ones.

Just because you don’t like it means the game has to change? If ANet changed everything about the game that people didn’t like, they would be changing the game more than they change there socks.
They will not change something as big as this, especially when it is tied to legendary weapons. If you’ve not noticed, they have been making it harder to make them with the changes to the gift of battle.
Does anyone know how to repair the 3 Trebuchets in the camp after they are destroyed?
Without them , the fight is close to impossible, but the last 3 times Ive tried the event, the trebuchets are broken at the start of the event.
there is an event from the portal from queensdale, down to nebo. Good luck with the event, it’s impossible to solo. it’s probably the only event in the core game, that’s been there from day 1, that fails more often than not.
Almost every game I say hello and people are responding. People answer to the usual "who close ? " question as well.
As for rude people, well it’s either noob enemy players or some " OMG team what are you doing ? ". You can troll the first and ignore the second.
I have the feeling people talk more and more as you cross divisions.
Yeah I find when you start a league no one says a word, but by the time you get to middle sapphire everyone is talking at the start and sorting out who is going where, that’s been my experience anyway.
I’m only playing to get to ruby, once I have, I’ll never play in the leagues again.
I just played the game last November and i dont really know anything about LS2, all i know is its a story aside from Personal Story and HoT story.
Season 2’s story is mostly setting the stage for HoT’s story but the instances are nice both in terms of gameplay and story telling in my opinion.
Do you think i will just wait for the season 3?

The important parts of season 1 are explained in season 2 so not really.
^This covers it really. But fair warning some of the achievements for season 2 are quite hard. And you can only do them on your second play through, if you want to do them with a different character you’ll have to play through the episode with that character, then again for the achievements, unless they’ve changed it, and I missed it in the patch notes.
The point is stop trying to get rid of HoT it is not goin anywhere and its part of the future of this game. The core game is also part of that future, and I am trying to explain why it will be relevant as the game progresses.

there is an option in the settings for “standard models” turn that on and the enemy team will use them, so you don’t have to worry about different animations on different races.

This was said by ANet very close to GW2 launch, as it was something we all asked for during the Beta’s. How do I know this? I was there I saw it and read it.
The reason was because the capes would clip through the charr as they ran.

Engineers are a really good class, scrapper is nails. An Engi played well is a force to be reckoned with, and they can be practically unkillable and do good fps at the same time.
You might be right, my good sir. Back in the days when I gave up on my engi to start a guardian instead, I was surprised at how easy things were with my new toon. I probably wasn’t playing my engi right, I am totally ok to admit it. But in the game it is incredibly hard to find an engi who is actually helpful in any way (dps or support), which does not make it very appealing. If you’re good with yours, I’d be happy to see you play and change my mind. Over time, my main has become my necro, and considering some personal feats I like to believe I have mastered him. I am considering now playing another toon. Engi and ranger are currently at the bottom of my wish list. But I love changing my mind. Again, there is a huge desaffection for engis, which would make your job harder than if you were to sell me Ele in pve or Thief in pvp.
While I would love to show you what a good engineer can do, I’m not that great myself. I’m probably avrage
with one, but I’ve seen some be a real handful when fighting them with my warrior, at which I’m very good with. You would be better of asking in the Engi sub forum.
Here i come again. 2 monthes ago it took me 400 obsi/mysticcoins/ectos to get ~60-65 mystic clovers. And overall chance was still ~15% (are you kittening kidding me? this is not “get random kitten ” recipe, this is “mystic clover” recipe).
Today (screen below) i got 12 clovers out of 60 1x recipes, which gives 20% chance (which is not enough for “mystic clvoer” recipe, but kinda ok for “random kitten from mystic toilet” recipe).
So, i want to call it again. Give us straight Mystic Clover recipe for mystic forge, that gives 100% (one hundred percent) chance to get Mystic Clover.

P.S. Yes, i am very salty atm.You do know there are other ways right? If you don’t mind PvP you get some from tracks. I just need to make the gift of fourtune and metal and I’ve finished the moot, not a single clover made. I have 6 legies atm, jsut finished 7th today (2nd twilight for sale) and working on bolt+shield. If you really think that 2 clovers/track/~3-4days (if not nolife pvp/wvw) + 7 clvoers/month is ok reward, that’s is sad for you.

Engineers don’t need a weapon swap, they can have an array of weapons from flamethrowers to turrets. Just have a look at the engineers utility skills, and see how many are weapon skills. They are not the only class, Ele’s also don’t have a quick weapon swap.

I had this happen to me today. But I got stuck in a wall.
I’m having this problem in some places, scrit cave and in queensdale, I’m running NVIDIA card with up to date drivers, Windows 10 Pro 64bit.
ANet said they are looking as a way to do it, but it’s currently not being worked on, that’s what we where told a few months ago, a google search might.find the relevant thread.
I don’t really see an issue with the trailer. First of all, it’s obviously meant to be a teaser more than a trailer.
My problem with most trailers is spoilers. Half the time I go to the movies and see a trailer and every good bit from the movie is in the trailer and I’m thinking, oh good, another movie I don’t need to see. I didn’t see Titanic for years, because I knew how it ended. The boat sank.
Teasers are fine. I’d prefer not having spoilers. I feel like I have too many already.
Lol my issue with what you said is this…The whole point of these release notes that contain the trailer is that they are now using it as a push to make people buy HoT. No HoT no LWs3. I am fine with that, but the way its all written out, it is obvious HoT sales are sucking atm, and they need to up those, sooooo, cutting legendaries probably impacted that a little, I mean who wants an expansion that doesn’t deliver what it promised? Faggetaboutit, just make LWS3 require HoT, make it require a lvl 80, throw a lvl 80 upgrade in with HoT, and make it sound like we have not been duped. Perfect.
Not really. And add to it that while trying to sell HoT like this, the video then ruins ever mystery of HoT. Those poor people that bought HoT recently, then watched that trailer have nothing to look forward too. IT is nothing but spoliers for them.
If you had ready the HoT Q&A well before HoT launched it was stated that you would need HoT to play.LW3. In the age of google ignorance is now excuse.

I’m 32 and only until this year, I played The Last of Us; Sarah, Joel’s daughter appears only for about 15 minutes at the beginning of the game, and her fate practically moved me to tears.

Talk about characterization done right. Take Belinda Delaqua. She’s introduced in one episode and killed off the next. Disposable character, no emotional impact, no nothing. Eir’s death was better executed, but still.
I don’t think it is a matter of maturity, rather than execution/writing.
Your still younger than me, but then I’ve never been moved by characters in video games. Maybe it’s game of thrones fault, I’ve stopped getting attached to characters because then normally end up dead.
Honestly season 1 should have never been temporary. All making season 1 temporary accomplished was alienating players who couldn’t play during the time each part was available and denying future players the enjoyment of the hard work that went into making the content.

Also the achievements from the past have been poorly designed, there is even a leaderboard, how is a new player gonna even catch up when you are not even able to get them anymore.

I said when ANet asked us how he felt about temporary content, I told them it was a bad idea, and I hated it with the power of a thousand suns. Making anything in an MMO temporary is a bad idea, out side of yearly festivals.

That was awesome! She sounded like I did when I was showing people from the Alliance I was in in GW1 to do FoW and the underworld, down side was they where from the US, and I live in the UK. Finishing it then having to jump in the shower and start getting ready for work was fun, for a week, then I told them they had to get quicker lol.

Yeah you need to start organising a map after it resets to be in with a chance of doing it, or luck in to a map that’s already organized. I did mine shortly after launch, mid November, then a few times after the April patch. It’s quite a quick one to be fair, and very easy. The fact it fails is that people in general don’t like TD as a map. I’m still to map it as I really don’t like it, and trying to remember my way around makes my head hurt.
A build could be said to be “good” when it achieves the task assigned at the level of competence expected.

We simply do not know. Glint was the only one of her kind we ever saw, apart from her offspring in Eye of the North, we still don’t know where they are, the where last seen in caves below where yaks bend is. So could still be there with stone Dwarf’s or killed by Destroyers. Maybe this will be something that will be addressed with the LW3, and could take us north.
You won’t care because other than Tybalt, there are no NPCs worth caring for.

I agree, I really cared about the NPC’s in GW1, and my hero’s even more so.
I did like Tybalt, but I liked Forgal as well, we remained me of my Farther when he was in the Army, (He was an Regimental Sergeant Major) any the way he would be with the men under his command.
