When guild wars 2 launched it was going to step away from traditional MMOs. But in truth it’s creeped slowly to being just like every other MMO out there.
Weird how that works out, considering virtually all feedback the first 2-3 years was how they didn’t do things like WoW / FF / Whatever did them.
Curious. Some might fault them for listening to their community I guess. I mean the mount threads alone could probably fill their own forum, over the past 5 years.
The whole reason I enjoy plying guild wars 2 same for guild wars, was because it was notn5he same as the other games with its core game play. Now it’s is the same. For every person that wanted guild wars 2 to be the same as other MMOs there where players who did not. So no they didn’t listen to there players they listened to half of them and went against what they said at the start. For years they said mounts where too hard and the waypoint system was meant to fill this gap.
But I’ve said my bit, generic MMO here we come.

I’m not hyped. It took them 6 months to fix HoT to a point where it’s was playable and not a bang your head against a wall if you where not on a full map if you wanted to get on with your story steps.
I’m going to be very sceptical about how “great” this one will be. And if the adding mounts is true, then they will have killed one of the reasons I like this game so much.

The OP wants the FDS. Not the Jormag Sword. Not Firebringer. He’s not a GW 1 player. He’s playing GW 2. He wants a skin IN GW 2. These are two separate games with very different features. If you want to go back to GW 1 then do so. This is about GW 2 now. GW 2 players should be able to get the skins of their game IN their game. Not pay extra money for an old, out-of-date game. It doesn’t matter how long or simple the task is, it’s unecessary and a waste of money for those not interested in playing GW 1.
If you are a longtime fan from GW 1, have the achievement points, were able to link your accounts, then congratulations. You have earned something great. However you do not need GW 2 players to do the old Hall Of Monuments process just to validate your achievements. You do not need other players to perform the same task as you to satisfy your own sense of achievement.
There are redundant tasks to get skins and there are legitimately difficult tasks to get skins. In 2017, in a game that has developed far beyond its first installment’s model, this is a redundant task for a GW 2 player. It’s also an unecessarily over-priced one costing real money. If the OP wants the skin enough, sure they may go for it, and maybe they find themselves enjoying GW 1 and they reach however many points quickly enough. Yet whether they do or don’t, the task remains redundant.
If you’re nostalgic and just want to keep GW 1 and the HoM alive, you need to remember that you have, for yourself. Now you need to respect other players journeys who have no interest in GW 1, did not choose to play GW 1, and are in a game far beyond GW 1. HoM isn’t going to go away for you. You can do that achievement process all you want. Let others have their own journeys, especially ones in the game they have chosen to play.
If he wants it then he is free to get it the same way everyone else did. They are a thank you for plying GW1. Not a thank you for playing GW2.
The argument is as silly as someone demanding they have the pre order bonuses for a game they bought after launch, or buying the standard edition and demanding the items from the special edition. Do you understand now? You wouldn’t demand these things would you? That basicly what these things are. Or to look at them another way, they are bonus items for carrying over your game from the first game. You can’t get them any other way.
I hope you can now see why there is resistances from people about this. As it’s not just people who played GW1 for years to get these, but also the people who bought GW1 after to get these items that would be really annoyed by this. How would you like it if you went an spent some time and money to get something on for everyone else to be handed it? You’d be angry right?

I don’t think ANet care much about PVP anymore, it’s not an Esport so it’s not going to make them money. They wasted so much time and effort on something the community told them would fail. The leagues are not competitive at all, not really, it’s just an excuse to get some new stuff and to drag people who don’t play PvP the rest of the year, to play PvP.
Match making will never be perfect, the population is just too small, and with new accounts given average MMR, it’s never going to balance out. We all end up with “those players” who are just bad, I was in a match where an ele died in under 3 seconds to a warrior, and this was in plat T2. So i’d not get hung up on it. Play get the loot, and ignore your rank, go in to the match that everyone on your team will not have a clue and your gonna lose, you’ll enjoy it way more that way.

I really hope not. I have 4,300 hours logged into the game currently with five sets of ascended and five legendary weapons. I am more than happy with the gear provided.. and it would appear that the model would be for new stat sets rather than armor sets. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get the ability to ‘Bless’ Ascended armor too.
Every tier of gear you add to GW2 only increases the stress on inpatient new people… and new players really are impatient. I’ve personally watched over twenty people join our guild, play the game for one to three months, progressively, and then simply quit once they start researching the time needed for ascended gear. Everyone wants the best, even if it isn’t needed. Legendary armor is going to be more than enough of a blunder in the same regard.
Yes but you also push away the people who wants this stuff. From my 60 in game friends and 30 followers only 3-4 are online. Also games such as BDO and BnS seem to have stolen lot’s of people from GW2 because it felt a “Waste of time” or rather “Too casual for me”. The more you restrict the people the easier the get bored.
Also it’s a MMORPG game. There is no MMORPG without some type of grinding or gear progression. It was fun till i reached 1600 hours and completed everything.

I have to think #FakeScarcity works against sales as much as it works for them. I have moved on from wanting and waiting for an item to re-appear in the store way more than I have wanting, waiting, & buying. That is substantial lost sales from me.
Again they wouldn’t continue doing this if it was not more profitable. Do you really think they are doing this to be obtuse, lose money, and anger players?
Some players will. I’ve given up on waiting for things to come on the gem store. if I want something that is for sale in a game, as a consumer I expect it to be available. Not on some time lock. I know ANet have them as the reason they do it is simple. really when you think about it.
If the items where there all the time, some people would just grind out the gold to gems. where as with ANet locking them up they can spring them on us, and if we don’t have the gold on hand, we have to spend money to get the items we want.
So yes they are doing it to make as much money as possible. They are a business after all, not our friends. the need money to keep the lights on and pay staff.
But I will say this. Anet will also lose money by doing what they are doing. If I have some cash to spend, I’m not going to keep it for months on end just incase that one item I want goes on sale. Legendary armor was added to raids for one reason, to get people to play raids. look at dungeons, they got nuked because ANet wants people to play fractles. ANet has form for pushing people towards what they want them to play, and how they should play. All people need to do is have an objective look at what the game was, and what it is now, and you’ll see that if it’s not going to make ANet money it’s not going to be added. If it’s “too much work”(for what ever reason I know somethings can’t be done there is only so much you can mess around with code before it’s a broken mess) it’s not done, by this I mean ANet saying dungeons where too hard to balance…….. there is a lot I don’t get, and probably never will. But I will bet vital parts of my anatomy if they add legendary armor to anything other than raids, raid number will fall to the floor. if another way is thought to be easier, even if it’s not really, just more accessible to a wider player base. Raids will die off like dungeons did.

It may be complicated to change race and keeping uncompleted progress of main story but if you finished it then I don’t see the complication. Choices you made in the main story have no effect on the rest of the content anyways.
So make it available for characters with max level that have finished their main story or reset it to beginning if you haven’t completed it. doesn’t matter.
I’ll just repost what I said in this thread and every other since the first time this was answered by ANet.
They can not do it dew to they way the game was coded. They looked at this about the same time they looked at making the PS replayable. They found that it would cause massive problems from the game crashing, to not being able to proceed with the personal story dew to an array of bugs. In short even if they could get it to work, the bug fixing that would need to be undertaken afterwards would make the whole thing not financially viable. That is the core thing.
But people seem to think coding is just pushing a button and its done. It’s ANets game and there code, they will always know it better than us. If they say no it can’t be done, then it can’t deal with it and move on.

People are still playing ranked PvP for the rewards? I played enough to get all the chests once, and I have now gone to playing 1 game every 3 days, but will probably not even bother with that after today. the match quality is much better in unranked these days. there is zero reason to play ranked. and the salt and general bad temperament of people playing ranked is way, way worse than unranked.

Personally, I don’t really see what it would add. The game is more set to a everyone doing events. not everyone sit around fishing. the reason there is fishing in other MMO’s like WoW, is because they need time sinks. they need a reason to keep you playing as you pay a sub after all. You also have the level and power creep in those games too. So they can always make things like fishing relevant. I feel it would be a lot of work to make fishing worth while in GW2, but not have it so people spend time fishing than doing events in maps.

Please stop with ascended items in PvP. This has brought countless PvE players to PvP and they do not care about ranking, they just want the coins for the items. This makes us Guild Wars 2 PvP players unable to get where we want because of lack of playskill of the players, and can not win the game with 1 player less in the team. Please change that, it has not helped at all in PvP and also fix the level of the players that fall in the team. It’s completely unregulated.
I hope you understand and respond to the request / suggestion. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s complaining here, and if there’s anyone complaining it’s because it’s really not good.

I enjoy PvP, But I’d sooner play unranked than ranked, the only reason I play ranked is for the rewards. I could not care less about my rank, (for the record T2 Gold). I hate how they changed the rewards to make them less rewarding.

PvP is really not fun at all this season. so I’m playing 1 maybe 2 matches a day. Monday-Friday. will not play the weekends as matches are even worse during the week, and don’t get me started on Q times.

I just had my second loss of the season. And all because of 2 people on my team AFKing not even 20 seconds after the start of the match. Worst thing was the other team when not even that good. I won a few 2 vs 1’s. And every 1 vs 1. But they had the numbers to just 3 vs 1 you. And you have no chance. People who AFKING in ranked should be band from ranked for the reminder of the season. End of list. If you want to play the competitive side of PvP then you should play your best till the bitter end, win or lose.
Or just face the fact that the league are a big joke and just put the chests in unranked too so the people who want there “phat lootz” and have it and I can know I lost to a better team, not to one gifted a win because of scrubs.

Ok i gotta say these last couple of current events (destroyer scythe, shadowstone/krait oil and now caladbolg) are so kittening good like srsly if this is what collections can be from now on i can die right now. It’s so good the last “guest” collection for caladbolg felt like an actuall legendary and it made the collection not feel like a chore. I dont know what to say i really hope the collection in the next expansion can be like this and the every collection from here on out.

Solo, unranked experienced this bug starting 8:30PM EST (2/20).
I’ve been having this problem since about 12 midnight UK time. Can not queue for ranked or Unranked at all. The average queue time is also not showing.

Saul is not a side story. He is the reason the White Mantle are a thing. His fate could have been used in a great way. He could have been used to undermine everything the White Mantle stand for. But nope. Just lock it away in a raid.
But how much of that is relevant? The Inquest and the Flame Legion and the Sons of Svanir are also all things, but we have no idea who founded them. That doesn’t mean we’re missing out; it means that characters who (were believed to have) died before our PCs were even born aren’t part of the current conflicts. Likewise, undermining the White Mantle would be beating a dead horse at this point. They failed their big attack, and their leader is dead- they haven’t been wiped out completely, but in ANet’s style of storytelling, that still amounts to a billboard saying “We’re Setting Them Aside And Moving On!” The only faction of the group left in play is supposedly on our side. There wasn’t room in the story to linger on the Mantle and try to undermine their theological support. If Saul hadn’t been relegated to the raid, he’d just have gone the same way as Malyck, gathering dust on the shelf where they put loose threads with bleak prospects.
Flaim legion are a charr legion. Same as the others, but there use of magic and the fact they enslaved the other legions and had them several false gods is the reason they are out casts. Sons of svanir are Norn who think Svanir was touched by a spirit of Nature and Jormag is that spirit. No one really founded them, they just believe different to the other Norn. As for inquest I’ve not looked into them as I am not interested in Asura. All this lore is in game for you to fine. But is not on the same level as Saul. Not to mention Sual is a left over from GW1. Are ANET going to put all the plot threads they left in GW1 in Raids. Like what happened to the scepter of Orr and why Livia went looking for it and what she used it for. Depending on how that plies out with people thinking she is the Queen or Annise. But yeah they could put that in a raid and cut a part of the story out of the main plot. It would be the same as the first 3 wings being the build up to LS3. But if you did the raid you missed the start of the story, that is a fact.

Saul is a side story as far as the GW2 main story is concerned. A stronger argument exists around whether the Forsaken Thicket storyline is a side story as it feeds directly into LS3.
Personally, as a non-raider, I’m fine with how ANet have been handling story in raids. No major plot elements are gated behind raids (IMO at least) and even then ANet have included the ability for players to get a lot of the lore from a cleared instance.
Yes you can get the lore from a cleared instance. But you have to rely on someone doing it for you when you want them to.

Ah the same story. I can’t beat a warrior or DH, they must be OP. They could not possible be better than me.
Or a case of. “I’ll run up to that DH. He won’t have any traps down this time.”
Really people. Do we not know how to fight a trap guard by now? Or how to kite a warrior? Better still how to call a target and focus them down to the floor. Because all it takes to beat a class is to:
1)Be better with your class than they are.
2)Out think them.
3)Work as a team to take them out.
That is all you need. Class stacking sucks, I will agree. Nothing worse than looking at the teams at the start of a match and knowing if the other team is compitant, they are going to win as they have the better team comp. But then I’ve won matches with 1 guard 1 necro and 3 thieves. So personal skills makes up the biggest factors in a match. You just have to play smart and not face tank everyone.

Kite a warrior and watch them die. Warriors are not a problem. Other people’s skill are. It’s the same with any class. If you are better with yours that they are with there’s you win. It is that simple. They are not OP or anything else. You are not as good as they are. I’ve played in matches where I’ve been able to take out 4 people at once. I’ve had other games where I’ve not been able to kill anyone on the other team 1vs1. Sometimes you’re the boot, sometimes you’re ant.

Lol. If you need a DPS meter to play GW2, then you are doing something wrong. Anyone who needs this “tool” to raid should probably just unintelligible the game if they need a program to tell them they are doing a good job.
DPS meters will be abused. People will come to the forum crying because they got kicked from a group because someone said they where not doing enough DPS.
This will not end well. But then I don’t raid or do T4’s so I’ll never have this problem.
So if you don’t raid or do T4s, why even join a conversation that’s heavily correlated to raiding? I personally like to know if I’m falling behind on DPS and I need to try harder on the next run. It’s also interesting to know how much your DPS drops when doing mechanics versus when you practice on the test golem.
a group should be given a chance, dps should be where it be so long as people know the mechanics, and know the mechanics very well. a dps tool will show who is inexperienced. and people shouldn’t take offense to that, they should ask for help. 90% of us vets will help if someone JUST ASKS.
Just yesterday during a Sabetha run, our commander notices that our DH was doing just a little poorly on DPS despite not doing cannons. He told him that he’s a bit low and to watch a quick rotation video while we looked for a new PS Warrior. The DH didn’t get offended, he just did exactly that, changed up his build a little and tried the rotation and did about 5k more DPS on the boss.
Nobody should be hating on DPS meters just because some people are toxic with them; the same people that are arguably toxic with anything else (they’re just looking for excuses to cover themselves or are angry and feel the need to blame someone).
I’ll say it again: the problem is not DPS meters, it’s pugs.
Furthermore, I don’t see a problem with a group requiring DPS meters.
If you’re raiding often, it’s nothing but a benefit to you if you care at all about improving. If you don’t want to run a DPS meter for whatever reason, then don’t. There are plenty of groups that don’t ask for them.
It’s the same thing with LI or anything else in the LFG (and it was the same with AP for dungeons way back…) ; some groups ask for them and some don’t.
It’s simple why I’m talking about this. If you can’t tell you’ve messed up your rotation, then you are not paying attention. This is not Wow where you can have over 20 skills to think about using. You have 10. That’s it. 10 skills to use at the right order and remember to dodge. Why on gods green earth do you need a 3rd party program to know you messed up? You don’t really. People want DPS meters to point fingers. That’s all they are good for in GW2. Once you know your class and know the rotations, nothing changes. As long as your constant with your skill activations you can’t go wrong.
If for what ever reason you do mess up. You will know it. You really don’t need a DPS meter to tell you that unless you like to lie to your self.

These topics don’t fit in living world stories?
They are side stories, they really don’t have anything to do with the core of GW2 which is the battle against elder dragons. There’s a connection to the raids and GW1, but the White Mantle, Saul and Caudecus are essentially a side story. As a GW1 veteran and long time GW1 player, I’m siding with Bobby on this one, if you really want to see the story in game…look for a cleared instance, otherwise, either read it on the wiki or watch a video…it’s essentially the same thing.
I’m fine with that, I did it for all the wings long ago.
What I don’t understand is why topics of failure, guilt or betrayal supposedly (I’m quoting Bobby) don’t fit elsewhere in the game? I mean, in the personal story you have an entire chapter based on our biggest fear.
Saul is a massive part of the story of the White Mantle, he is not a side story. He could have been used as proof of what the murssat are like to the other Mantle. Braking them. But nope. He’s a raid story. Personally I feel it was a bad move.

Lol. If you need a DPS meter to play GW2, then you are doing something wrong. Anyone who needs this “tool” to raid should probably just unintelligible the game if they need a program to tell them they are doing a good job.
DPS meters will be abused. People will come to the forum crying because they got kicked from a group because someone said they where not doing enough DPS.
This will not end well. But then I don’t raid or do T4’s so I’ll never have this problem.

Chill, you realize that a new LS episode came out? And a new raid? I can only speak for myself: As much as I enjoy PvP, I also like the other game modes. After playing conquest for two months straight, a little PvE and some WvW are a nice change.
I am pretty sure a lot of players of all Divisions feel the similar, at least I see a lot of platinum and even legendary badges in this new content. They will be back.
