I understand the 1k fee to make the Legendary, most pve Legendaries are the same so sure why not. But having the need to swap end game to get a win on another class is just a huge annoyance. Not everyone multiclass in GW2.
Some prerequisites for continuing on the Ascension path should be nulled if other requirements were met. For example (and these are just examples):
- Maintain a 60% win rate for two tiers in a given Division.
- Reach a 15 win streak.
- Reach Legendary with 250 games played or less. (the average for solo players)
Items that can reward players stuck in a Division if certain requirements are met.
- Reach a Tier with less than X number of games played.
- Reach a Division with less than X number of games played.
- Play at least 450 games in a season. (the dedicated should be rewarded)
- Play at least 800 games in at least 2 seasons.
- Split the above games into rewards i.e 50 games won automatically earns Amber rewards, 100 wins earns Ruby rewards, etc.
Overall, I feel The Ascension should have more intricate requirements while also increasing rewards for dedicated and casual players alike. If Anet are going to make Legendary division more difficult to obtain then these type of rewards are a must for players who feel that they can never earn the ultimate “end-game” title or backpiece.
The game comes with 4(?) character slots. How can you not multi class? If your team needs someone to change a good player will always have options, and always play more than one class. it’s not like the wins are hard to get. The hardest one to get for a truly casual player would be the division crossing. I didn’t play much season one because the match making was horrible. So I was lucky that I got that achievement in T4 of the season achievements. If any should never have been there it should have been that one. I feel the only reason that achievement is there at all, is to keep people playing.
Once I finished mine after the second or third week of the league, I went back to unranked. No point in the league other than the back item, it’s not like your reward track fills any faster, and Unranked games seem to be more friendly, and not so rage happy while the league is on.
I don’t understand the 1k fee to make a pvp prestige related lengendary. I really don’t. When your most limiting factor for a pvp backpiece is a pve requirement then you’ve lost me. Also the argument that PvE does it goes not up, should the pvp legendary be buyable on the trading post?
Wait what?

I’d consider the Great Destroyer to be an oversight.
The Destroyer of Life being killed with Primordial Fire counts, but that’s more of an exotic fiery substance along the lines of Divine Fire, not something I’d expect PCs to casually have access to.
Windu’s solution would work thematically (GW1 destroyers had reduced armour to cold) but it wouldn’t really help against the complaint: professions like guardians and berserkers that have a high reliance on burning for condition damage don’t have much opportunity to switch to chill instead.
But they can switch to power damage. or just have another exotic set like I do. I have my Ascended sinister set for when I want to melt things with conditions, and my exotic Zurker set when I need to just do out right DPS damage. the only thing warriors and guards who are running condition damage sets is the extra damage from crits. Not a big loss. I fail to see the problem.

Crazy thought here guys, Rotate around the DH? or use skills that trigger traps, like Rev hammer. rangers send there pets in Ele, use the Earth f4 skill. I’m sure there are more. Guards are slow, so it’s easy to out rotate a team stacked with them.
Also if the person playing Guard is better at playing guard than you are playing the class you are playing, then you’ll lose no matter what.
Not all the guard problems are down to the class being “OP”, it’s down to you not being as good as you think you are.

As far as buying all four of the original games/expansion. You can get them all at http://store.guildwars.com/store/gw/cat/categoryID.67871700. One of them Guild Wars Trilogy which has all three original games. You would have to by EOTN separately.
I am aware of this store’s existance, thanks.
What I wanted to know is when was the last time they put Guild Wars 1 on sale, to know if I should try waiting for sale on all expansions or just give up and buy separate pieces I want.
I have not seen I on sale for years. And given that GW1 is no longer worked on, the box sales for GW1 are the only income ANet gets from it, your best chance of seeing it on. Sale though might be during a Steam SALE. Almost everything is marked Down is there sales. So you could look there. But to be fair, GW1 is not that expensive for what you get.

Except mobs in HoT aren’t immune to melee damage so the comparison isn’t the same. Plus, I found HoT mobs easier in melee with only a few exceptions.
The difference with adapting is that builds are not easily transferable here. Changing your stats and weapon and armour and traits for a series of story episodes and open world encounters is not really what GW2 is all about. It is right that such adaptation is necessary for pvp, wvw, fractals, dungeons, Liadri etc, but it would be an enormous mistake to force more casually minded players into changing things up when they suddenly become handicapped.
I understand the argument some are saying about keeping the burning immunity, but to not have some sort of mitigation against this is just folly. Whether that is a mastery, or whether that is making other conditions more powerful, I’m pretty sure Anet will have thought ahead on this one.
But there are other conditions, fire eles do 90% of there damage through power, they are immune to burning, not the physical damage of the attack. To to MM or KH and pick a fight with a Destroyer. You will kill it. Being immune to burning will not make them immortal. I would have thought they would take more damage from Water Ele’s, and the chill condition. But saying they should not be immune to burning is silly, they are made from molten rock. You can’t burn something that is already burning! Personally I thought it was stupid that bleeds and poison work on Risen and Ghosts, but they do, same as burning on ghosts, how dose that work? I liked the immunes that mobs had in GW1. You had to thi k about what skills you where going to bring.
In GW2 it’s even easier. Change a few traits and your good to go, if your running condition gear, then gear your skills to chill and not burn.
It is that simple, I can explain it to you, I can’t understand it to you.
It’s not needed.

This thread seriously confuses me. I don’t understand why anyone on F2P thinks they should have the same benefits as anyone who bought the base game and HoT regardless of what game mode that is and if the game is so “beloved” to you, why can’t you spend money actually buying it? The entitlement here is painful.
To say you can’t get anywhere in PvP without HoT specs is also a complete fallacy, because you absolutely can with core builds, but not if you suck as a player.
Lol, entitlement? Are you kidding me? The game is fundamentally flawed and is clearly restricted B2W in the form of the expansions, and you claim entitlement? The entire F2P concept is arbitrary.
I’ve spent probably close to a thousand bucks on this game, if not more. I built a $3000.00 computer solely to play this game with the highest possible fidelity on top of that. I don’t buy gold or legendaries. What I buy goes straight to ANet. AKA, around 10 years of a WoW sub + expansions at highest price. I had a tremendous amount of respect for ANet before HoT, and as such didn’t care about the money. I gave them what I thought they deserved because I support businesses and games I like.
I prefer playing core specs. I actually hate every single elite by design except the reaper, and the elite specs as a consequence introduced so much arbitrary power for no reason that the game is no longer fun and diverse like it was. The fact I see four builds in a majority of encounters in WvW which before had literally everything is more telling than the meta-crawlers and bad balance in sPvP due to the amulet system. HoT is broken, and it broke GW2.
That’s where the real complaint is. It’s not that F2P players can’t win. It’s that GW2 sPvP and WvW are no longer actually fun because diversity is dead in the water and the elite specs are by far and large conceptual failures that are poorly implemented and in many cases, poorly designed. It’s not about entitlement. Quite honestly, 70% of ANet’s revenue at the time of releasing HoT, both before and after constituted gem purchases. ANet makes more than double its box sales from people who want to fund the game they’re enjoying. And ANet’s sales figures right now are the lowest in company history. I stopped buying gems cold with HoT. And I know many other people, people who spent probably $100 a month on this game who also did.
HoT killed the fun elements of sPvP and WvW. The game is totally broken and anyone who simply doesn’t like their profession’s elite is just in a position where either they deal with it or leave.
Telling passionate players that they’re entitled because they’re complaining because they don’t get the same enjoyment from the game before the expansion is foolish and ridiculous.
Please, before HoT everyone ran the same builds on the same classes. There was no diversity before HoT, there is none after it. There will always be a build that is better than all the others, it is the way trait systems work. There have been many posts from.player through out this year of them getting to legendary on F2P accounts. If you are more skilled you will win the fight/match. I an half my team got mauled by a power core warrior in a match today, who ever the person was, they where something else. How to I know? Did not use berserker once.
There is nothing B2W or P2W about PvP, it’s skill to win, just like every other PvP game out there, the HoT specs just give you more ways to win. So maybe there is a little diversity after all.

It is going to be rough on any one running burn as there main damage.
Hoping for a mastery or something. They can’t realistically proceed against Destroyers w/o solving the burning dps issue.
Trailer does look good. Can’t wait for next week. Bloodstone was a very cool map, but doesn’t really have much staying power.
They didn’t in GW1, you had to change your skills as they where immune to fire damage.
The flexibility of the gw1 skill system allowed for. Here it would severely hamper many eles and make Berserkers next to useless in pve. They couldnt get away with it here if we are taking on destroyers for a sustained period.
You say that like there are.no other options open to those classes, Ele have Water air and earth, warriors can focus on physical damage over condition damage. So I don’t see why they need to do anything.
But you are taking away an entire attunement (ele) and an entire elite spec (Berserker), and it for the most part, is a deduction. In GW1, not only did you have a range of viable options to choose from, you could also choose from a secondary prof which gave all sorts of other options. GW2 does not work like that so you can’t adapt as easily.
Right now, an ele can choose fire, water, air and earth. Most ele’s will rotate through through those attunements depending on the situation at hand. If Destroyers are immune to burning with no way of overcoming that with in game mechanics, all that happens is the ele essentially is only rotating through 3 attunements, since the fire attunement is largely useless without the burning condition to drive most of the dps.
Fire is mostly power damage, with burning thrown in for more damage. Eles where not that great VS Destroyers in GW1, in the same way most of the damage warriors did in GW1 was from server artery and gash I think it was, that lowered an enemy’s health by 20% if you hit a bleeding foe, that made warrior some what useless Vs undead/spirits in GW1 as they didn’t bleed.

Sure just spend 1000g to regear out of one build into another for a single LS episode… completely reasonable.
Please, Zurker gear works with anything, what do you do when your fighting destroyers in PvE? I’m sure they’ll make them weak to water damage or something, just for you, if you can buy/make the mats for Ascended you can pay out the few gold for exotic gear for the story mission if you find it too hard.

Hmm. They’ve certainly already long since locked in the method of getting there, but it could be fun to brainstorm ways to make a “ship voyage” work in the future. Keep in mind that even when we took ship from LA to Southsun, that meant talking to the ship NPC and then loading into Southsun, not standing on a moving deck. Also, after the first time, most players will want fast travel for future trips to the zone.
That said … what if the ship were an instance? People load in and after a bit the instance is full (with a timer so you aren’t stuck forever waiting for sailing companions) and the ship “sails” by having scenery move past it (perhaps just a loop of surging waves and billowing sails … or blue-flaming asura propellers, who knows). People can walk around on the deck, enter the cabin, climb the rigging. NPC’s shout out navigational and other sea-faring commentary. It all takes just a few minutes, maybe there’s an encounter on the way.
Just some rough ideas there.
I totally get that no one will use ship travel after the first trip.
It’s already completed mostly as an episode, but I think a cool way to implement this would be part of the living story.
A one time (optional repeatable) trip on a boat to The Ring of Fire with either some idle chit chat with your companions, or almost like an informative scene with your companions about the ring of the fire and some of the old lore associated with it.
Talk about the Door of Komalie and the white mantle, maybe the titans. Of course just an idea. That way after experiencing it once you still get the flavor but can waypoint after.
I would always use the ship if there was one. it would save on coin in the long run.

too many ppl are kittened for no reason ls2 wasnt made after an expansion so it wasnt following p2p only content so you cant compare it with lw3. Lw3 its ok since it follows a gatted storyline for ppl who do not qualify to play i would rather comment anet for unlocking lw3 in the files for ppl who dont either have hot but still logged in the game so when or if they buy it they will get the lw3 as well this is all to wierd coz this thread is in a wierd timing since when mo said that it would be locked ppl did not complain and since theres 10 days still to unlock it i find this thread kind of early to be made. Now i would argue that anet could make a gate on the north for the ppl that have the expac to go in fen that would connect the map to the world but oh well that would be kind of immersio breaking
ANet had said, if you don’t own HoT but are online while the episodes are live you can “bank” them for when you get HoT.
The reason there is no entrance to BSF is that it is, (story wise) technically part of the raid.

Dose your friend have HoT? You have to do the story instance once to get there, after that you can buy an Item that takes you to the map. And as long as your friend logs in before the next story release on the 20th, even if they don’t own HoT, the can “bank” the episode for when they do, but untill you own HoT you can not access and HoT, or new LW maps, we have know this for a long time, ANet told us this when HoT was announced or shortly after.

- Implement 1-to-1 rally policy, similar to WvW. This means that only 1 player would rally per enemy killed, rather than up to 5. Would likely be the downed ally closest to the enemy player.
- Cap the range at which someone can rally.
- Bring back PvE-downstate policy
- Shorten revive/downed “invuln” buff.
- Adjust outlier revive skills (Function Gyro)
Yes.
- Reduce healing per tick when rezzing.
- Further reduce downstate HP
No.
I agree with this.

I think it is a royal waste of time in a match b/c having someone on it is actually detrimental to trying to win the game.
Good Rotations trump Treb play 100% of the time, and if I’m in a ranked match and see one of my teammates go treb…..I’m not nice to them about that decision
^This, I really think it needs buffing. You can spam it on middle no problem, but it is harder to judge when your looking at home or far. There are players who seem tom think that Treb is needed to win a match no matter what, and most can’t use it very well, as the only other time you will use a treb is a few events/story missions/WvW. I do think if it’s going to be in the map, it needs to me more user friendly. Not everyone have the exp on it that other do.

Did you even play the game? Mordi killed the fleet, the only way we beat him was by going into the dream and killing his mind, and then we had backed him self up in the little cabbage that could. So we could not beat him the same way we beat Zhitan. He slapped us about and left the pact a broken mess. We got lucky. This time we do not have the pact, Kryta have there hands full with White Mantle and possibly a Murssat.the threat is very real, we only have our whits and ability to save the world.
No, I guess because I have a different opinion on the dragons than you I haven’t played the game.
Mordy destroyed the fleet and corrupted a bunch of sylvari then a couple weeks/months/some arbitrary time later, we went in the the dream and tried to kill him. Mordy attacked a couple forts outside the Heart of Maguuma and made a few vines poke out of the ground but at no time did he try to advance on us. His armies never invaded Maguuma or Kryta or anywhere, its like there was an invisible wall in Silverwastes that he couldn’t pass except for a few minions at a time. Why wasn’t he attacking us everywhere? He clearly had the capability. Instead he just sat there and twiddled his thumbs while we came to kill him.
Elder Dragons are huge nigh-unstoppable forces that roll over anything in the path in their hunger for more magic to eat. They expand their domains to corrupt more minions and get more magic to become even bigger monsters. Where were the legions of Mordrem outside of HoT? Where were the huge massive clusters of vines tearing apart cities? Where were the hordes of corrupted sylvari? For some inexplicable reason (ie the plot bus said so), Mordy didn’t bring his power to bear on us.
Heck, when we came to kill him he just let it happen. He could have easily crushed us with vines while we were attacking his mind. Since we were in the heart of his domain there should have been legions of Mordrem around that could have overwhelmed our allies and killed us. After we defeated his mind and he could have made a backup elsewhere, he clearly had the time to do it when he started asserting his control over Trahearne before we killed him; his domain is the mind after all, that should have been easy for him.
We accept it because the plot manual says its going to happen but thats about the only reason for me to accept how it ended.
So yeah, Mordy didn’t feel like the big bad that Elder Dragons are supposed to be and I don’t really expect Primordus or Lazarus to feel that threatening either. But thats just my opinion on it.
You missed the events where he invaded Brisban and other parts of the map then? there are Mordim in Iron marches, yes your right he stayed in the jungle……..

I think we already passed the point of your first concern. Here we have the elder dragons, creatures many thousands of years old with an unfathomable amount of power capable of making the mightiest beings in the world flee in terror…and we killed 2 in 4 years….
Zhaitan I can see the case being made that it took decades (or longer) to work up to the point where we could kill him. Then Mordy wakes up, and by most accounts is stronger than Zhaitan, yet we kittensmack him as soon as he wakes up. And now we have Primordus…are we just going to roll over and kick him in our sleep?
At this point the only way the dragons could feel even remotely threatening to me is if we lose to Primordus in the next expansion and cede control over large sections of the world to him. Mordy destroyed a fleet of airships and both dragons have taken their share of allies but we haven’t actually lost yet. We haven’t been beaten or even pushed back. Zhaitan never claimed additional lands despite having an army that only gets stronger the longer we fight. Mordy reached some fingers into the world but never took over any lands. Their threat feels very hollow now.
The elder dragons no longer feel like a threat, they don’t even feel powerful. They’re just the flavor of the week bad guy to stomp.

I want to be play the game on max settings, because I am able to. I don’t want to lower the graphics just because some players want to make the most obnoxious looking characters ever. I rather have an option that remove objects—backpacks in this case—that have started to destroy the awesome and beautiful appearance of the rest of the game.
Backpacks and flashier armours and effects were finer back in the older days (except for the humongous spell effects that were going on in combat) but now flash armours, visual infusions and obnoxiously big backpacks in form of wings have appeared far too much, and just destroys the general feeling of the game world.
I don’t understand why you care so much about what other players look like? As long as I think I look Boss, I couldn’t not care about the disco going on next to me, or the Charr that wants to loom like a monster from the power rangers.
Imagine going to the theater only to have the person in front of you wear a glowing, sparkling, noise making, enormous top hat that intruded into every watched scene. Your ability to see the play is impacted.
For the most part it seems as if people want this more to deal with highly intrusive pieces than just those that they personally dont care for.
Lol really? The only real story in this game is instanced, so the only. Problem you have are the ones you make your self, the only thing people with wings etc spoil is your enjoyment. It is really not as bad as everyone makes out.
Sure a way to hide things would be good for those who want to QQ about it, maybe add standard models so every one else looks the same, because that will make it better…….

Yeah, when ever I notice some one asking me about skins or dyes, I’m quite happy to tell them. I don’t care if they want to copy my look.

If you done want to see peoples armo, you can always set the graphics to low. Sadly it will not high the back items but will kill all the flashy stuff.

I don’t think they are worth the price my self.

You must have had a division crossing left over from the previous set of achievements. You’ll need to move up another.

They are on hold untill some time in the future.
Not on hold. Indefinitely suspended.
That’s what I said, we are saying the same thing……

We have been over this many times over the last 4 years, it’s simple. There is no point to it.
1. Having to code a patch for 2 different systems, then make them work together. Having to wait for the patches to drop on both systems meaning possibly even longer gaps between updates. If something go’s wrong like it did this week, a fix for one may not work for the other.
2. The out lay for staff to work on it. Not to mention, the game is not optimised for the PC all that well, how would a console handle it? I mean you need a meaty PC to run it with everything on max and get good fps. A console would probably have to have reduced visuals.
3. Would also belay any content for the current live game as they would need to halt the game development to make sure everything syncs up and no patches between now and then add bugs that would brake the game on the console.
4. We really don’t need this game on a PS4 or any other console.

> 1 greatsword weapon skin looks good on thief
> therefor thief should get greatsword
>Much smart
>very logic

Surly the mail carrier should have been an achievement reward, and the back pack in the birthday gift, just saying.

The way ANet handled the situation was a huge dissapointment to me. I’ve been playing games on a daily basis for the last 31 year and never before in my entire gaming expirience I saw anything like what happend here.
1. Forum is the place for discussing news. The place for a news like ’We’re shutting down the servers’ is here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/ No, mr O’Brian didn’t do his job well like many people here seem to think. Here’s a very simple question to mr O’Brain: which news is more important to ANet? This one: ‘Bloodstone Weapons, Peakitten Scepter, and Mini Garm in the Gem Store’ or this one: ’We’re shutting down the servers’ and ’we’re having a roll back’ Strangelly enough the news about the kitten gem store is on the main page of the game website, unlike the other, you know, less important news. Looks very bad. You know, other game publishers and devs put that kind of info onto the main page of their main website. And they do that not beacause they’re stupid or have nothing else to do, but because there is a reason for that. A good reason.
2. Again, I’ve been playing MMORPGs since they came to existance and that was the first time when I got disconnected all of a sudden during a fight without any sort of a warning and couldn’t log into the game not because the servers have crashed, but because they shut them down. Name me a company who shuts down their servers without warning people who are already in the game. No, you can’t? Well, this is because there is a reason for not doing that kind of stuff. A good reason.
3. Roll back. Please stop that blah-blah about one time in four years. One time is way too many. Roll backs are distinctive feature of so called ‘private’ (you’re free to read it as ‘pirate’) servers of popular MMORPGs. So ArenaNet managed to reach professional level of those teams who keep private servers. Congratulations!
One of ANet people told me on Twitter that this incident is of a huge importance to them. It sure looks like a lie. Because, you know, nuber one. Also he said that updating the website will take a long time. I wonder, how long does it take for ANet to update a website? Because, you know, it kinda reminds me of all these funny questions: how many charrs is needed to change a light bulb?
I’ve seen MMORPGs born and die many times. If ANet won’t grow a pair and publish the info about what happened on the main page of a game website real soon I’m like 90% sure it’s gonna be the beginning of the end. Because people do not forget stuff like this. And they don’t like when you try to lie to them. Of course, there always would be people who are not gamers and never saw other games, but you can’t rely on them when it comes to your player base.
So you don’t think it’s quicker to just do a post on the games own forum, it has to be on there web site? Really? Anyone who works in web design knows it is quicker to just do a forum post.
Secondly, trying to fix this kind of problem while the game is live would have been a real nightmare, trying to fix something that is still effecting data on a live environment is like trying to stop ice melting in death valley. The more people who use the corrupted system, the more is spreads the more the data base is corrupted. But then I guess your one of those people who thinks they can just press a button to marked “fix things” and everything works again.

The entire time I’ve played GW and GW2 there has never been an issue like this. They have no experience in situations like this.
I’d say they handled it pretty kitten well with that in mind. Good job Anet!
^all of this.

That blows, I liked quite a few of them. As already said, probably will be given out over the next few years, kind of a sucky thing to do, especially seeing how nice a few of them are.

This thread is getting funnier and funnier. There is nothing in the game that if you spend real money on will give you an advantage over anyone else. Nothing. HoT is not pay to win, it’s an Xpac, every Xpac ever has given and “advantage” over people who do not. Be it level cap and better gear, easier ways to get currency, or items that can only be obtained in the Xpac. Now if the only way to get ascended gear and legendary weapons was to buy them from the cash shop for cash only, not with gems, then the game would be pay to win, and then these would have to effect PvP, or be needed to finish the game, like gate you from areas of the game, not be able to finish the story of the game etc.
Saying thing like bank space and trans charges are pay to win it just not true. You can gain charges by playing the game. Gain gold to trade for gems to buy bank space.
All the gem store if for is QoL. You do not need anything from there to play the game, sure some things make life easy, but not one thing there is a must have.
