Sorry, it doesn’t effect me in the least…

Even if this egocentric view was how I was capable of feeling, I wouldn’t admit it in public.

You should though. You should be clear about how you feel about things and say them out loud / write them down. Feeling how you think you should feel and not feelling how you feel is not a healthy thing.

People are just more sensitive about things happening nearer, and those that are visible, feasable.

There is nothing egocentric about not feeling too bad for tragedies in other parts of the world, if you would do, you would get depressed, and wallow in sorrow for all of your life. You simply cannot feel bad for every starving child in the world, for every human/animal suffering in cancer, or everyone wh is currently fighting a war and dying. Every few seconds, some dies in the world.

Take my advice.

If you were wondering, yes I’m a psychologist irl.

I think Anet should remove WvW.

There are wars going on in lots of places in the world, yet Anet is insensitive about them. And WvW represents war as we know it.

Then again, people kill eachother for money on the streets daily. Thus PvP should be removed. Killing other players for points? How rude.

And then there are poachers. So killing wildlife disgusts me. Remove PvE.

Enjoy your game!

Oh, and I’m also offended!

Simply ways how Anet could improve very effectively the willingless of alot of people to revive other players constantly:

Improve the Reviving Achievement No One Left Behind, beause just reviving 1000 times is just ridiculously fast done.
The Achievement could get so easily improved, giving people more visual rewards for reviving really alot of people over the years to come.

As if something like “Combat Healer” would be already the absolute most epid thing you could call someone, who has revived so many persons, that it would take ages to recount them all to the exact number after several years of playign the game.

That achievement should get improved so something like this:

Combat Healer (Kampfheiler) = 1000 Revives = 25 AP (in total, its 5 AP per Rank to 1000 revives with 5 ranks)
War Cleric (Kriegskleriker)= 5000 Revives = 50 AP (from here on increase the Ap you get per higher ranks, 10 AP per Rank)
Life Saver (Lebensretter)= 15000 Revives = 100 AP , 20 AP per Rank
Blood Saint (Blutheiliger)= 25000 Revives = 125 AP, 25 AP per Rank
Angelic Saviour (Engelshafter Erlöser)= 50000 Revives = 150 AP, 30 AP per Rank
Fate Breaker (Schicksalsbrecher)= 75000 Revives = 175 Ap, 35 AP per Rank
Celestial Entity (Himmlisches Wesen) = 100000 Revives = 200 AP, 40 AP per Rank

Every 100 revives from that point on should reward players with a special shiny celestial winged chest, that will reward players with items like T6 Materials, Lode Stones, Ecto Plasm Globs, Dark Matter or Crafting Materials like Elonian Leather, Damask or Mithrillium. This way will feel reviving players alot more rewarding, to the point, that players will be incentivised to take willingly the risk of maybe dieing at the try to revive someone, because it could be just that one revive needed next to get such a chest reward, if you already have maxed the title ranks out to the new maximum.

Achievement Hunters woudl be the very first, that would go for this for sure, if you get on they way also some nice AP boosts.
—-

Another way to give players more reasons to go for reviving players would be to implement a new “Supporter Level” into the Game as a Game System, which is basically a Rank System that works similar like the WvW Rank System, just not with so extremely high ranks to the 10000, lets say maxes at at Level 20 for now and everytime you rank up in the Supporter Level, you unlock for your Account various different optical things like this:

Gain Supporter Level 1 = Unlocks for your Account the Combat Healer Outfit/Title
SL 2 = Improves your Healing Power when you revive someone by 5% in PvE
SL 3 = Unlocks for your Account the War Cleric Outfit/Title
SL 4 = Improves your Healing Power when you revive someone by 5% in PvE
SL 5 = Unlocks for your Account the Life Saver Outfit/Title
SL 6 = Improves your Healing Power when you revive someone by 5% in PvE
SL 7 = Unlocks for your Account the Blood Saint Outfit/Title
SL 8 = Improves your Healing Power when you revive someone by 10% in PvE
SL 9 = Unlocks for your Account the Angelic Saviour Outfit/Title
SL 10 = Reduces Damage that you receive in PvE while reviving by 5%
SL 11 = Unlocks for your Account the Fate Breaker Outfit/Title
SL 12 = Reduces Damage that you receive in PvE while reviving by 5%
SL 13 = Unlocks for your account the Celestial Entity Outfit/Title
SL 14 =Reduces Damage that you receive in PvE while reviving by 5%
SL 15 = Adds an holy Aura around you while you revive in PvE, that protects for 3s from all Conditions
SL 16 = Reduces Damage that you receive in PvE while reviving by 10%
SL 17 = The Duration of the Holy Aura gets increased to 5s for PvE Revives
SL 18 = You receive now a moderate Healing after you finish with reviving in PvE
SL 19 = You gain Stability and Aegis for 3s after a Revive has been completed from now on in PvE
SL 20 = Gain the Outfit/Title “Hope of the Doomed” (Hoffnung der Totgeweihten)

Ah, how innocent. Would look good on paper.

But what would happen is parties of 5 go to Fractals of the Mists lobby, jump off and ress eachother all day to max out AP/Rank.

As an organizer at many world events (Teq, Dry Top tier 6, Marionette – not anymore, 3-headed Wurm – not anymore), I can say that dead people are a burden, and the worst things that can happen. Never bother ressing them.

If you are dead in the first place, that means you weren’t doing what you were supposed to. Sure, everyone makes mistakes, that is what downed state is for.

I simply hate is when dead people yell “REZZ FFS!!!!!” 3 meters away from the Waypoint, I would slap their dead bodies around if I could.

All you are doing when laying dead is upscaling, making a potentiel death trap for others, wasting DPS, blocking downed resses. And why? Because you were too cheap to pay 1 silver 40 coppers for a WP.

Death in GW2 is way forgiving, almost meaningless and thus people don’t even care if they die. Abolishing armor repair costs was an awful decision.

What is the point in transmutation stones?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bubi.7942

Bubi.7942

Point of charges? Putting your look together.. basically end game…cept you are an outfit drone obviosly. Like the stats of that armor piece and not how it looks? Transmute it, colour it like you want and click accept, issue fixed. Dont feel that burning greatsword you got anymore? Simple fix… transmute it to a different skin and done. Other points? Income for a-net, reasonable imo. Not that expensive and you easily can get them via map completion or pvp and even the daily. An ok system and somehow the devs gotta make money. Im totally alright with getting more charges when i get some armor skin i like and wanna use it (or parts of it) on other chars i got… thing is so far i never had to buy any of them and yes.. i do change my looks quite often, new shoulders here, some new gloves there.. you get the idea.

Hi

I understood what charges do (change looks) but I was questioning why they were a necessity. Turns out, they are purely a cash-grab.

Cash-grab? Wtf. Transmutation charges (not stones btw anymore) are the most honest way to make money off of your game.

1. It is completely optional
2. It doesn’t have stat or any other benefits
3. You get them for free too from lots of sources
4. You can buy it with gold if you want to

I’m not a huge defender of Anet, but holy-moly, calling Transcharges a cash-grab is beyond silly.

Anet and RNG

Bubi.7942

So, this may sound as a Q_Q forum, and maybe it is, but really the RNG is a serious problem and ruining the game for me right now really.

Fractals:
I’ve been running for over 900+ fractal runs on level50, personal reward lvl50, and I got 1 skin in total.

There’s people who have 3-4skins with less then 300 runs.

Another example,

Precursors:
I’ve got 5217 hours over 941days played, I have done all content, farmed my kitten off, dungeons EVERYTHING, threw in over 3k gold into the Mystic Toilet, NOTHING.

Please, tell me if there is anything I can do to get a higher bit of luck towards my account, personal magic find: 184%, perma running with +50% booster also.

As I said, it’s getting quite annoying to do 2 fractal runs each day, and not seeing anything, no real reward where alot of ppl in my parties always get a skin.

I highly doubt you did 900+ runs on lv50.

@TPMN
Wow, we are playing totally different games.

Fully with you here ODB for me:
Silverwastes – waste of space and dead (I never want to revisit the zone again – it’s too easy and too reliant on others who are often clueless eg aoe @copper is bad- this means you struggle pushing the ant up the mountain with a grain of rice).
Been there done it for the armor – have no desire to ever return.

SW is actually full all day and night, you not visiting it doesn’t mean it’s dead.

Also, not sure what you mean about Red. Are you saying AoE is a bad thing or a good thing?

DryTop- I do not want to mindlessly run about farming events for some geodes to get some weapons. All mini/drops from chests can be bought cheaply.

Fair enough. But be aware that DT is one of the best places to “get rich quick”.

“Challenging open world content”- no thank you. I don’t want to carry others or another 3hd wurm fiasco (TEQ is hardly a challenge after 2 yrs – I turn up at T-1min and org maps with high success ratios).
— awful RNG gating of loot is the only thing keeping people at these events (3HD) or high gold/karma (TEQ) as they need the karma after every other karma nerf.

Oh boy. Thanks for jumping in 1 min before start and carrying everyone, where would the people be whitout you?

Also, people are really needing karma? Has anyone ever had a karma shortage in GW2? Is that even possible?

WvW – it’s a lag fest: too unreliable and really not that much fun watching skills not fire off.

Try not zerging?

Dungeons/Fractals are the only thing keeping me in-game (after 3000+ hrs) as it allows training of new people actually how to play properly and be useful in as a team and understand synergy. If these items were not here – I would have left a long time ago (>7K hrs now).

This just baffles me. I don’t dare to type /age cause it would make me cry, but how can you find the same maybe 10 hours worth of total content entertaining for 3000+ hours? I’m really genuinly curios.

Btw, don’t craft exotic armor. Cele is not even salvageable, so you’ll lose all your runes. That’s coming from a guy who has crafted 2 sets of exotic celestial armor and 1 set of ascended cele.

I only realized it was a pre when guildies replied “VERY NICE!” and “you lucky kitten” and such. I was surprised as usually they don’t care or say “gz”, so I checked again thinking maybe the rune is pricey or something.

Is there a way to acquire the carapace leggings other than completing the story? I missed all of season 2 but have been playing in silverwastes and I now have every piece of armor except for the leggings. I have looked it up on wiki and they say it can be bought from the merchants for bandit crests but I checked all of the merchants and none of them have it. They all have shoulder, glove, boot and headgear. I have two coat boxes from killing the mordrem vinewrath, is there no way for me to get pants to go with them?

Nope, only from the story. Once you get the first one, the merchant will start selling it. So you can buy it with Crests, or redo the story on another character.

Edit: Remember you only need to unlock the right episode for it, which is Seeds of Truth I believe. 200 gems currently is roughly around 25g, which shouldn’t be a problem if you’ve been doing SW.

You’re not getting it. You can’t apply WVW and PVP challenges to PVE. Why? PVE goals have healthbars and because of this the only goal will be to drain that healthbar as fast as possible regardless of what the “challenge” is. You can’t introduce build/gear diversity without changing the goal of PVE, which literally means changing the goal from killing things to not killing things because as long as there is a healthbar the ultimate goal will be to kill it as fast as possible. This literally means you have to make PVE exactly like WVW or PVP with the same goals as WVW and PVP.

Of course, when I say zerker meta I’m referring specifically to dungeons/fractals… beacuse open world, who cares what people run? It’s just going to get zerged down anyway. I really don’t understand why people think there’s a zerker meta in open world pve. There’s not. And if we had a gear check you’d see that… or if Anet would release those stastics we could see that most people run non-zerker build/gears. The only people I know that run true zerker gear/builds are the hardcore dungeon/fractal people.

If a boss kills you, and you are downed/dead, you are not doing significant damage. Thus your damage output is not optimal if you died because of your gear.

It would be better if you used PVT, or maybe you can use Knights, or some Condie gear, or maybe the guards in your party could go with some Boon duration runes and Healing Power gear etc..

Depending on boss/encounter mechnics different builds could be better for those (like husks taking more condie damage etc.).

Currently in PvE the only go to build is zerker.

And ppl used to complain that AC is too hard. People that are bad don’t care about what is optimized. When we talked about optimized build and gear we talk about good player that know their rotation and don’t just press 1.

Yes, way back when the game came out, then in another wave when AC got revamped.

Clever people however quickly found workarounds. If you meentioned AC. Eg.: Path 2, stack on the rock while 1 guy pulls the traps, so the mobs don’t reach you but will aggro you, or the Endboss where you have to stack behind the corner so the dumb AI walks into you and you cen zerk it down it seconds.

And boom. Bad players succeeding with zerker. All they had to do, is observe it once.

Your question doesn’t apply because the conversation is about PVE zerker meta… not WVW or PVP Zerker meta. Therefore it needs no answer because it is not applicable to the current conversation. Care to rephrase the question so that it is relevant to the current conversation about PVE ZERKER META? No? Then said question is written off.

Chill dude, this is just a forum.

Actually this has relevance, unlike the reward system you and the other guy mentioned earlier. I’ll anwser it for you then:

There is more gear ‘optimal’ diversity in PvP and WvW because there is wider variety of challanges there, with different difficulty (being it’s versus humans). Thus there is no ‘most optimal gear’.

Next question: How can this be applied to PvE?

My point still remains: because PvE is too easy, zerker remains the only optimal choice. Make it harder, and you’ll see build diversity, maybe even roles (like in WvW skill group).

No it wouldn’t. Like I said, we would use protection, weakness, vigor, reflect, sigil of energy, aegis, blind, etc. But we would still use berserker gear. Those are far more efficient defensive choice than anything gear can bring. And as a plus side, it way more fun to play. Active defense > Passive defense.

Btw, we all want to harder content.

Past experience proves otherwise.

Remember people crying about the mordrem wolves retaliatin which killed “the zerker” crowd? Sadly the solution was not letting them figure out – " oh man, we actually have boonrips skills and other gear!" but instead removing retaliation alltogether.

And don’t get me wrong, I don’t want everyone running PTV or Nomad, no. But it would be nice, if not everyone and their pet parrot would run zerker, cause there is no risk involved. Again, raising difficulty (which they promised to do), will hopefully make the “not so skilled” people think about gear choice.

@Lifestealer:

Most people are avarage. In anthing, thus most people cannot be bad players, or good or anything, What you are saying is that you are better than an avarage player, that’s great.

The good thing about PvP (oh man, how did I even end up defending PvP?) is that you’ll get matched up with people on your skill level. At least that is how match up’s should work. So you’ll always have roughly around 40-60% win rate (unless your #1 or the last guy). If you met people that suck… then guess what…

Organized WvW or Roaming require quite a bit of skill if you are playing “optimally”. Yes, you can 20v1 an upleveled, or you can solo roam a Dolyak, but actual “serious” WvW player ten to enjoy outnumbered fight or even fight with other skill groups. Blobbing up, once again, is just wasting your resources. And we are still talking about optimal situatuions, not how it could be played.

Being able to run dungeons optimally, with people that understand their own abilities as well as the dungeon mechanics, requires a bit more thought and effort, just like getting a decent win rate at ranked pvp requires though and effort.

Once you are at the point where you are the one that has enough understanding and experience to make the dungeon run look easy for others, are able to deal with unexpected situations on the fly (ice bow 5 not hitting due to unexpected early defiance stacks? you’d be surprised how many people have problems dealing with that on certain bosses ), and know the mechanics well enough to duo or even solo most dungeons, that’s when you’ll realize that stacking in a corner spamming 1 is not much different from jumping into unranked queue without a clue. You’ll get your advancement without effort, but it’s far from optimal.

Exactly. But in dungeons that doesn’t come from actaul skilled play, it is just playing through the dungeon a few times (2-3X), learning the boss patterns, findig the right semi-exploit spot, and whack at it with zerker gear.

If you’d wear full zerker in WvW, you’ll end up dead pretty soon as you can’t negate all damage with cheap tricks (or the opponent doesn’t have luaghably low damage and attack speed to begin with). Thus diversity.

@thefnatasticg, Terrrhero:

Sorry, what are we talking about? Is this conversation which game mode is easiest to exploit or “is zerker meta in pve gonna change?”. I tought it was the latter. We can talk about rewards in another thread if you want to, but let’s stick to what we have here, shall we (or you can look up my rants and suggestions on PvP rewards if you wish).

Which is easier, stacking in a corner pressing 1 or playing a turret engineer in pvp and afk while raking in the wins?… See I can nitpick a certain part about a game mode and make it sound skilless too.

Good on you, but that doesn’t make it true.

…when your boss tells you to compile a “christmas selection” of songs for your workplace radio, and you sneak “The Great Toymaker” among them.

Yes, I did that, no one noticed, hah!

Oh I noticed. Now get back to work !

Dayem! Thanks for not firing me at least:D

Well… if you just look at WvW, PvP and PvE build diversity (which this thread is about), it kinda proves that PvE is in fact, overly simplistic.

PvP is always more complicated than pve. Besides, are we talking about build diversity or gear diversity? And where would this diversity not be applied? Because the vast majority of the content (plus what is on the horizon) makes me believe the builds in pve are much more diverse than in pvp. Ask anyone in open world about their build, there’s no meta, everyone plays whatever they want.

Heh, I guess you are right, I may have not worded it right.

Ok, so I am talking about gear diversity, not build.

And you are probably right that there are all kinds of gear in PvE – the question is, why?

The anwser: cause you can do any content in any gear, or even naked with ease (except Tri-wurm). To maximize your efficiency however, there is only one gear to consider: berserker. Again, why?

Cause it doesn’t matter what content you are doing, even in zerker gear, you can survive easily (bosses with slow, predictable attacks, etc..).

In PvP, and mainly in WvW there are tons of builds that go with your playstyle and your class (solo, scout, duo, small group, skill group, zerg). Why?

Because you actually have to adjust to your surroundings to be most effective, and being most effective changes from situation to situation.

I don’t know if you ever played the witcher 2 but how many people hated roche due to his nature, iv’e seen him as a brilliant character.

I see the living world season 2 as a way to touch a somewhat darker fantasy setting. destiny’s edge 2 are a good first step in this interesting road.

Oh ouch. I don’t hate Marjory or Kasmeer, but mentioning Witcher characters and GW2 characters together seems wrong.

GW2’s characters are flatter than my man boobs.

What to do in the meantime.

I’m getting into LoL again, back in platinum after a year of absence

Also, I got a list of solo games I have not played yet, but want to, I started one of those (FF XIII atm).

And that brings us back to page 2 of this thread (or somewhere around there), that gear doesn’t matter, cause PvE is supereasy.

As opposed to sPVP where you’re rewarded for failing…

I’d love some elaboration on this.

or WvW where you’re rewarded for gathering in a giant blob or not at all.

Blobbing up is a way to play, yes, but there are different types of gameplay styles in WvW. Some require more skill than others, and are way more effective than blobbing. Generally the unskilled or people not really wanting to put in effort blob up. I recommend trying roaming.

Sure, PVE is pretty easy if you’re just trying to complete it, but at least you have to be successful and in dungeons/fractals your contribution matters has a pretty large impact. In general i think it would be fair to say that GW2 is supereasy.

Uhm… aren’t dungeons stack in the corner mash 1? With like little to no chance of dying, ever? Or glitching through stuff, or skipping half the dungeon with invis, or always going for the cheap-o semi-exploits (eg.: lupicus half health gone with 1 reflect)? I do not want to offend dungeon running people or anything, but “knowledge” mostly boils down to 1 guy saying “stack here”.

As for Fractals, I guess some may find those difficult, I don’t really. And I’m a guy who has been resetted from lv 58 to 30 and went back up to 50 again.

Actually no build depends on gear (excluding runes/sigils). Gear contributes to its effectiveness and nothing else. Obviously using condi gear for a healing build doesnt make sense. But it does still work. Its just far from as effective as it could be if you used appropriate gear.

Theres nothing wrong with the gear stats in the game currently. Variation in traits, weapons and utilities is enough for a healthy game. Improved encounters will encourage this variety. But in terms of balance its mostly fine already. Theres just not enough well designed encounters yet.

The only problem which wont be solved by better encounters is condition damage. And thats not really because of gear. Thats simply because conditions are poorly designed. They do not reach as high potential damage as direct and they suffer from the stack limit, overwriting and slow build up time. They are very poor in open world. And this is something thats unlikely to change due to technical limitions.

That is true, but only to the degree that it doesn’t really matter what gear you’re running at all.

Congratulations! #golf clap You have just described literally every single relationship (hetero or homosexual) in the history of the universe! “Love” goes hand in hand with ‘dependency and possession’. The only thing is you somehow equate this to ‘abuse’? Has this to do with lack of experience with relationships? I don’t know, that’s not for here.

Uhm… maybe in the world of S&M yes, but otherwise not really. “Dependency and posession” do not make for a healthy relationship tbh.
