what was your username?
Does it really matter here?
Also too be fair they weren’t troll threads, everyone just screams troll now days and never takes anything seriously.
Practice adjusting traits in sPvP
I remember a guy named bunzy from RIFT, he was always making troll threads with one phrase on forums.
what was your username?
Five things:
1) Jesus, your armour is horrible. You don’t have to try to defend yourself here, but you die a LOT. Lose 5 water and take water recharge 20%, or keep them and swap out a trait for 20% recharge. Water is your GO TO for healing / conditional removal, you want this to have the quickest recharge.
2) Put on AOE instacast in the options (goes where your mouse is, saves you having to click)
3) Your heals and survivability seem quite poor, and you do not have the damage to make up for it. This works okay while you’re not being focused, but you could do a lot better by shifting some traits around.
4) This is a montage consisting of kills (albeit, not really interesting ones) not a PvP video.
5) You ought to put more points in the arcane trait line. Attunement swapping needs to be a utility not a hindrance, and the best thing you can do to compliment this is to achieve 30 arcane, not to mention evasive arcana. If you’re going to run this build, I’d recommend ditching the 10 fire, and 5 water and run:
30 Arcane, 15 water, 25 lighting. Whilst this still keeps the better of your build how you like it, you’ll be able to change attunements a LOT quicker (switch to water just for a heal, then dodge for another heal)
As bad as it may seem, I’d recommend taking Ether renewal over signet of restoration.
- Quicker Recharge
- Condition removal every pulse (removes 15 conditions in one use)
- Higher heal amount than the default heal in water + regen.
Nice video! Don’t worry about this guy he is a jealous hater, he criticizes everyone he sees as a threat to him.
Edit: I bet he will do the same to my video when its up. I called it.
@Bunzy, because score means everything right? Thanks for showing the world how much of an idiot you are. I see you’re one of those guys that go into a match and zerg people for kills, instead of really doing what you’re supposed to do.
Good luck in high end Tournament PvP.
@Science – Nice one.
Clearly a jealous hater.
Okay I recorded the first 2 games I went into. I didn’t edit it or anything. They are still processing so I will link once they are both up. Probably except about 6-8 hours from now.
@science you posted a screenshot where it shows i have more points then you despite being on the losing team? That’s hilarious. Since when has 1v1 become a zerg? I can understand why you would be embarrassed to lose to an elementalist considering people think we are “underpowered” but no need to lie about it. The reason I say owned is when someone gets absolutely dominated so if that was you I am sorry but you were obviously not a challenge for me.
I am making a video that will be unedited (apart from music). I will post on these forums in about 2-3 days so look out for that
Its very situational we do fine in 1v1 group fights you cant pull off a finisher or revive without getting downed stupidly quickly , our main burst in scepter can be back peddled out of.
Any class can dominate you just follow your team zerg around and plow the enemy into the ground with more people. Most games i win im usually 100 points behind the enemy team because a run around capping bases and defending.
you added it up wrong, that burst combo left me on negative 1khp, the only reason i survived it was because i switched to water attunement which gives me a small heal, he could quite easily restealth and backstab me again even though a few auto hits would be enough.
Its mostly when im fighting other people they instant kill me from 50% hp, they usually just stealth from far away. + there are no tells to dodge since steal is instant and i dont have preditor vision for stealth
.
I was just focusing on the backstab, but at a closer look you can see you were also fighting a warrior so perhaps you got stacked with vulnerability which is why that hit so hard. You mentioned you survived, this is where you need to learn to kite and los away. Lots of people in this game have trouble with knowing when to run away. If you have ever played LoL you should teamfight similar to that.
Note: I am 100% confident in 1v1ing any profession apart from guardian in a hammer spec. That is the only real profession that gives me trouble.

Ive been hit harder , this just happens to be one i took a screen shot of. Been hit for a 8k steal too. And i wasnt running a full glass cannon build 22k hp either 1500 or 1k toughness not sure what necklace i had on at the time, ele can be a bit squishy sometimes.
So the thief was running a glass cannon build and left you with 8k health so you just pop your heal and continue? I don’t see the problem here. Thieves get stronger with the less health you have so try to keep up maximum health when fighting them. Also try not to give thieves your back if you can help it, i know that’s easier said then done.
You’re making the assumption that a game that has just been released is not capable of having balance issues.
The truth is, Eles could suck or their players could suck at them – probably both.
obviously there is balance issues in every game, but the fact i can play my elementalist and dominate in sPvP means its obviously not the profession.
You’re fat and you know it.
See I said the same thing with much less typing. Pointless thread is pointless.
Look at the elementalits forum, people are always asking for buffs and complaining they are so weak. Its getting annoying that people keep blaming the profession and not themselves. It needed to be said eventually.
You are going to use DD in WvW.. Lol good luck with that one :P You will die within 3 seconds if the enemy get any sort of immobilize/stun on you.
Yer don’t use the staff in sPvP. In regards to a build id just try come up with your own. Mine personally took me about 3-4 hours of messing around before I was happy with it.
If you can’t kill anything 1v1 stop using a staff, if you aren’t using a staff its because you aren’t good. PRACTICE
“If you rolled a mage, stop playing mage and play cookie cutter lol melee range squishie”.
an elementalist is not a mage… o.O
Its actually laughable if you think underwater is one of elementalists strong points id hate to see how you go on land.
The dagger chill skill is there to help when people try to kite away from you, replacing it with a healing skill wouldn’t make sense. Focus is already extremely strong with its defensive abilities so adding a heal skill to that would perhaps tip it over the scale and make it too strong. If you are going to use a staff at least you are using it for healing and support and not trying to kill people in 1v1 situations and then complaining. The cooldowns are there for a reason and every class has them, its to stop people spamming their abilities. It adds an extra skill factor to the game. So personally I wouldn’t do any of the above changes.
I can kill any class in 1v1 besides:
Mesmers – I have about a 30-40% win rate against them.
Guardians (Hammer Spec) – I have about a 20-25% win rate against them.
Warriors – I have about a 50% win rate against them.Don’t lie to me.
What do you think is going to happen when the people you are supposedly going 1v1 against, and ‘killing,’ suddenly get equal gear to what you have?
This is in sPvP, so they already have equal gear but nice try. If it is requested I will make a video of me doing sPvP and owning people as an elementalist.
How to improve survivability.
Pro Tip: Learn to kite and LOS
I was thinking about making a thread question on that. Is 20 points going to give you that much of a benefit?
Yes, the major traits in this line alone are worth it. The cooldown reductions are an added bonus. One major trait that is a must have is elemental attunement (V) i personally wouldn’t run any build without it.
It’s good overall you just have to forget about actually killing people cause the specs that can do that have no defence whatsoever. Just do your darndest to stay alive and cap points.

Another pro tip from bunzy – Always have at least 20 points in arcane, If you are going to be switching alot.

This is how I feel!
I love being underwater with an elementalist. Really fun, highly recommended!
Pro Tip: If you want to survive in sPvP, never fight underwater as an elementalist.
I should also add that you should try to stay out of the water on Raid of the Capricorn, Elementalists really struggle underwater. Use it for escape purposes only.
I actually made a post about this ages ago when I found out that every elementalist underwater has the same abilities, which is super annoying as air and earth attunements require you to be melee range in order to maximize damage. I just tend to stay out of the water as much as possible now days.
I am going to kill your warrior with my elementalist! – Bunzy
People are making out the profession is completely broken and unplayable, this is not the case.
Tip: Don’t use the staff in sPvP, Aside from that it’s one of the most versatile and enjoyable professions you can play.
Note: The learning curve is quite steep and it WILL TAKE PRACTICE. Don’t just expect to go into games and own people straight away.
I think its funny you are complaining about this because when we versed you, you guys sat outside our spawn point 24/7. Enjoy karma What goes around, comes around my friend.
Yeah staff is super strong when used for what it is good for, as others have mentioned. And with the trait in Arcane to enlarge the size of your AoE spells its not that difficult to land stuff. But Staff Ele isnt about the dps its about supporting your team and the objectives, it is super strong at that. I think it is hard to get a hang of I am and ele I SHOULD be blowing stuff up and this thing doesnt do it right, I know thats what I was thinking when I first tried it. Then I saw a couple good streamers using Staff and was like OHHHHHH GOTCHA. lol. Check out Phantaram’s stream on twitch.tv/phantaram really really good.
Lots of people are saying how the staff is good for supporting people, however is that what its purpose was intended to do? If you think about it logically why would they make our only long ranged weapon useful for supporting people. I think the staff is an “intended” AOE damage dealer gone wrong, especially since they nerfed our AOE damage, people can literally just stand in it now.
Bunzy, what server are you on?
Im on Sorrows Furnace with TFS
So today i was browsing through all the threads and found alot of people complaining about that we were underpowered (yes i play an ele). So i figured i would make a thread as to what i thought about the whole situation.
What makes Elementalits weak?
It comes down to one weapon, the STAFF. It is horrible in SPvP due the fact that it is so hard to land your AOEs while the enemies are moving around you and the damage of your aoes is mediocre at best.
How I would improve the staff:
I would either buff its AOE damage/ or completely rework the abilities to make less of them skill shots and lock them onto targets. Right now there isn’t enough justification for landing your AOEs because they don’t even do that much damage.
In the meantime I would try out other weapon combinations such as D/D, S/F, D/F, S/F and mess around with them. I personally play D/D and absolutely love it!
tl;dr elementalits don’t need a buff, they aren’t underpowered except for the staff side of things. Staff abilities need to be reworked or buffed.
hmm, i roll with scepter dagger and seems to work just fine.
which is exactly what i said, the problem is with the staff not anything else.
Just step out the AOE…

I would suggest don’t use a staff in SPvP the staff is currently lacking in terms of other weapons, its way too hard to land our abilities when people are moving around. Id come up with another weapon combo and you will find it much more fun.
Staff needs to be made stronger, but everything else is fine.
