Great Post, OP.

I completely agree with everything you stated and i admire your peaceful way of approaching and fighting this overdue, intentional and unjust matter.

Something to add..

Like for today, our server held Stonemist hostage for 3 hours by just porting.

By the time the other server were able to conduct a full sweep, we had nearly 30+ allies ready and waiting for them.

Beforehand, we didn’t have to do anything..just chain port mesmers after another from inside the keep, until it was 13 of us; we even ported dead players from the exterior as well.

I really felt bad for the other server because i can see they’re pain, frustrations and sadness in their face. They were running wild, and confused, by the flow of our players porting in.

No broken walls, no broken gates, no hacks, no bots, no effort, no hard work, just port away.

After almost 4 hours of unjust, unfair torment play, our commanders decided to give them a break, so i was glad.

(within few minutes, we were back again and took stonemist ), as i was told.

that’s all i have to say.

So if a small group party worked very hard to take a keep/tower, why punish them for not having the manpower to conduct a full sweep for hidden mesmers?

That to me is sad,

I believe no matter what size group and party you are, you deserve to be greatly awarded for your great efforts.

Not to be Punished by a a cheap unfair alternative method.

So as in my post above, we were the small group, the capping force about 15 to 20 strong. They HAD enough people to sweep but were too smug and arrogant to do so. A simple sweep of that tower would have taken one person, one minute to run. Why reward them for incompetence? If you have the manpower to take a tower or keep you have the manpower to sweep.

i do agree with you but what i don’t agree with, any circumstances can happen right after a keep is taken. Of course it’s not an excuse to not to conduct a full sweep but how about if that fails, who’s fault is it than?

Is it their fault that a mesmer or mesmers can remain undetected for 15minutes to 4hours+?

Is it there fault if those same mesmers can extend their undetected durations with the help of a thief’s strealth?

is it their fault for leaving a dead mesmer/s body for minutes.. hours; only to return to see their keep taken from them?

Seriously,

where does the line draw where players are trying their best to sweep for mesmers and where mesmers are just hard to detect?

The wife was on her Mesmer, me on my Guardian one day when the enemy took our NE tower. They did not sweep. Since we were short on manpower she ported me in and we took the tower as a duo. A little while later they again capped that tower and again they did not sweep so the two of us took it back again. The THIRD time after they failed to sweep we were laughing so hard we forgot about the RI on the tower Lord and failed in the attempt.

i find that very sad.

Uhm … you think this is a new thing? Mesmers hiding in keeps has been part of the game since day 1.

Just make sure you do a sweep after capping.

this is not about if this is new or not, this is about doing the right thing/ working hard and putting your best effort than realized, there is a cheap alternative way to do it.

I’m not mad at all

It’s like.. for so long you believe you are doing good than realized, all your good efforts were suddenly wasted, meaninglessley taken from you, ‘in a blink of an eye’.

So what do you do?

So how would you feel afterward?

So what else are there to do?

.

I guess I’ll bite.
If your best effort doesn’t include a simple mes sweep then your best effort is awful. You aren’t doing the right thing. If you were then you wouldn’t be getting beat by the same old tactic that has been easily countered and known about for over a year.

As for saying is not about if it’s new or not. Don’t put “new meta” in your thread title and then list something that had been around since day one. It just shows shows everyone how little experience you have.

Next you’ll be complaining about a new meta of water fields.

First, i want to remind you, i do not respond to Insults. Secondly, because of your insulting mind, you refused to comprehend what this thread is all about.

This thread is not about finding mes or not, or doing sweep or not, or being experienced or not.

It is about not doing anything at all and still get the job done, using cheap alternatives methods

Sweep all you want, check their “hidden spots” all you want, and they will still remain undetectable.

Have you ever asked yourself, ’how is this possible after doing all those “sweeps”, a mes/s were able to port their allies?"

Or even better, ‘how do the top servers do it? by remaining at the top for so long’? (not saying they all do it but we know many who do)

Perhaps. they have near.. perma-mes/s to keep them afloat at the top?

Yes, i did say that…

Mesmers can perma-stealth.

Of course!.. i will not reveal their secret remedies.

Anyhow, i haven’t mastered it yet but i’m able to remain undetected for 20 minutes+, other mesmers; 30min+..1 hour+, yet again in the same “hidden spots”.,

Yet i feel like a ‘bad guy’ for using cheap unfair alternatives to gain success, but once again, i’m constantly being reminded, ‘that it is ok.. you are doing nothing wrong, in fact, you are doing the right thing’

In final note,

My server including others, had always believed that hard work and great effort payed off in the end.

Or as the saying goes, “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity”

Not Anymore.

Can hardcore players destroy a MMO?

in Community Creations

Burnfall.9573

Hello,

I found this interesting and very sad article i would like to share with you. I feel it is important to address what’s in the article because it is key problem that still exist in guild wars 2;
especially with the wvw server match ups.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Unfair-matchups
“Unfair Match-ups”

I greatly sympathize the new players, non-hardcore player and the guilds; who are still struggling or simply ‘just given up’ because of it.

They are denied entry because they don’t have the best top armors, weapons, runes and sigils. Or, not belonging to a top server/s, guilds or a specific class.

Although we are all valuable players,.

We’ve all seen the depressing messages on the LFG tool;

- ‘no babies allowed’
-‘no newbies allowed’
-‘will kick if you are weak’
-‘only elitists allowed;
-’only heavy d/d zerk allowed’
-‘you die, kick’
-‘no___ class/s allowed’

As the saying goes, “what happens next, tells the true story”

http://spinksville.wordpress.com/2013/02/25/can-hardcore-players-destroy-a-mmo/

“I bet anyone who ever played a massively multiplayer online game has come up against the scenario where you realise that someone you are playing with (or against) is putting way more time, effort, research and social networking into the game than you are.

Maybe it’s That Guy who undercuts all your glyph auctions half a second after you have posted them. Every single time.

Maybe it’s the really powerful and organised alliance who seem to have a zillion players in every timezone.

Maybe it’s The Guy in your raid group (or LFR) who is all geared and tweaked out and times his/her rotation to the millisecond.

It’s easy to feel demoralised if you are competitive and you see a situation where you know you don’t want to put in the time/ money/ effort to compete with that. This is one of the big structural problems with MMOs: how do you have a game where a wide variety of players can all play together without breaking the game? Do you encourage the hardcore players/ guilds to be part of a separate more hardcore endgame? Do you encourage players to play alongside others of similar mindset and give them separate instances  to mess around in?

Gevlon has a good take on this in a post about RMT where he muses that if you let players cash out their earnings from the auction house, it would attract a more professional crowd (note: his opinion of professionals is a bit higher than mine).

What effect would it have on the game? Every market fully covered, leaving no trading income to casual/newbie players, only similar professional traders could compete. The simpler income sources, like doing PvE would be covered by real world corporations using minimal wage labor (after all, ratting can be done by half-illiterates), leaving absolutely no in-game income source to the real players.

He even decided to cut back on his own trading, “giving more space to other players to play in Jita”. This isn’t a case where the hardcore would be destroying the economy, it would still function fine. Just there is a theoretical case where there are enough ultra competitive players to mean that there are no niches left for casuals in that side of the game.

There are other theoretical ways in which the ultra hardcore could push a game into a stasis from which it could never escape. You could imagine a turf holding game where all the turf ends up belonging to a few large alliances who have mutual non aggression pacts.

The only way out would be if the ruling alliances deliberately cut back on their expansionary plans (much like Gevlon describes in his trading) in order to promote a more ‘healthy’ ecosystem in the game. Where ‘healthy’ could mean anything from ‘more welcoming to new players’ to ‘more likely to give us some fun territory fights in the future.’

In a themepark game, this is all largely irrelevant (I think it’s mostly theoretical in most sandboxes too). There simply are fewer parts of the game where players would have this much control that a large powerful guild could simply win the game. But it’s interesting I think to compare with RL – sometimes looking to the long term good of the community might be worth more than going for pure domination.

Have you ever played a game where you felt you or your faction dominated so hard that it wasn’t fun any more, or where you gave up because you felt the hardcore players meant there was no point?"

The Untold Inside Story of Nerf.

in Community Creations

Posted by: Burnfall.9573

Burnfall.9573

“When developers start talking nerfs, Sales and Marketing types, who are concerned with the game’s public perception, will raise the question, “Do we have to nerf, or can we buff something else.” While it’s valid to ask to look at the problem in multiple ways, a nerf in buff’s clothing can be dangerous. People are talking about a mechanic, and that’s usually what needs to be addressed. Addressing the issue by fiddling with another mechanic could be opening Pandora’s box.

Announcing the upcoming nerf is the tricky part. You’re making an announcement that will be welcome to some players and the worst news of the day to others. There’s no easy way to do this, but there are a dozen ways to make it harder.

Some developers choose to keep it secret until the patch hits. In some (but not all) cases, there’s logic to the stealth nerf, such as when it might have some long term effects on gameplay or the virtual economy. Announcing the nerf ahead of time risks inviting a rush of players to take advantage of flawed mechanics so that they can still have the rewards in the future. It may be a sound and well-reasoned decision, but it will take a negative toll on the developer’s relationship with his players and trust will be lost.

The difference in language between players and developers can also make the nerf more painful than it needs to be. The City of Heroes team once announced that it was done adjusting powers. So when changes to power enhancements were made, players felt misled by doublespeak. Nobody necessarily lied, but the developers made the mistake of assuming that that they saw the game and its systems through the same lens as players".

“Even if it is announced frankly and transparently, the nerf is going to be a communication problem. There’s no avoiding the fact that some people will be angry with a change to the status quo. Suddenly, new faces will emerge in the community, claiming to represent the silent majority. A developer has to be careful here and can’t let himself be swayed by the sudden influx of opinion. This isn’t really the silent majority, but an interested segment of the silent majority. The majority is still silent.
But we can’t trivialize the concept of the silent majority.

They do exist, and they are represented by subscription levels and a game’s revenue. Every design decision is also a business decision and a nerf gone awry can have a profound impact on your game’s business, as the Star Wars Galaxies team learned when they released the NGE (which is a combination of so many nerf pitfalls, I don’t even know where to start talking about that one).

So, with all of these pitfalls, what’s a game developer to do? It sounds simple and trite, but they should do what they think is best. Not arbitrarily, of course, as there is an entire population of gamers whose virtual future depends on the decision that they make, as well as a business whose well-being is dependent on those gamers’ happiness.

But ultimately, it comes down to the developer to make the decision that will best level the playing field while alienating as few of their customers as possible.
Sounds easy, right"?

The Untold Inside Story of Nerf.

in Community Creations

Posted by: Burnfall.9573

Burnfall.9573

I found this quite interesting article and would like to share it with you.

Here goes…… and your take.

http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/3663

“If you play a multi-player game for any length of time, you’ll inevitably run into the nerf. In my career working in games, I’ve helped nerf spells, guns, robots and super powers.

As people play together, they are always taking account of how they compare to their fellow players and begin to note which play styles are the most efficient. As a result, they generally do one of two things: They either adjust their own style to include the optimal mechanics or they decide that certain mechanics are too powerful to be allowed and seek to make their feedback known".

“Sometimes, developers act on that feedback and swing the nerfbat. The magnitude of a nerf varies. Sometimes, it’s a simple adjustment of damage tables, changing the effectiveness of certain mechanics, which pretty much every game does on a regular basis. Sometimes, it’s a complete overhaul of certain classes, such as the EverQuest Monk or EVE’s medium spaceship changes. Sometimes, it will be a complete gameplay overhaul, such as Ultima Online’s Trammel.

Calling for a nerf will generate some of the most impassioned and divided discussions in a gaming community. One side is frustrated at their struggle to compete with unbalanced game mechanics. Meanwhile, the other side is replying with a litany of reasons why their mechanic isn’t overpowered. They point to situations where a more specialized mechanic makes their own ability less effective and generally seek to protect their game as they play it.

Players will occasionally make the argument that, “The devs play faction X, so of course they won’t change it.” This statement makes a couple of assumptions about developers that aren’t really accurate.

The assumption that the devs are as hardcore into playing the game as the players are. A lot of devs don’t play much of their game outside of work. They bring a ton of creativity and passion to creating the game and spend all day thinking about it, but the last thing that many of them want to do when they get home is log back into work.

The assumption that devs are well-organized and all play together. Outside of official playtests, most devs I know don’t play their own game together. I’ve been at companies where there is a secret developers’ guild, but it’s usually pretty casual and not organized in the way that a player guild is. When devs do play games together, they’re more likely to play a tabletop RPG or miniatures game, or Rock Band or Soul Calibur.

When feedback starts coming in, you get different responses from designers. They want to take pride in the work that they do and they don’t want their game to be the subject of controversy on the game blogs. So when they make decisions, it’s not in to further some agenda or vendetta. It’s to keep their jobs and feel good about it"

“.At least that’s how it is for the reasonable ones.
Some designers read the forums religiously and are committed to acting on feedback, no questions asked. While commitment to the customer is an admirable trait, it can also be a path to sloppy thinking and snap decisions. The other side of the coin is the designer who is quick to discredit the community and looks for any crack in the argument to exploit. He points to players doing dumb things and claims that the ones who feel the mechanic is imbalanced simply don’t know how to play.

The first stop when considering a nerf is usually the balance spreadsheet. Its formulas will guide you through a number of quantitative scenarios like time to kill or ability X vs. ability Y. It might tell the story of a mathematically perfect game, but it can’t capture intangible elements such as terrain, latency and the infinite number of variables that may come from other players. You could call it a bible, but it is more appropriately considered a work of man with all the flaws that engenders".

no surprise here, lately this is the new meta my server, including the other servers been doing; putting a mesmer/s to hide inside keeps to port their players.

We just grew tired of doing the right thing and working so hard with great effort and only see it gone, within minutes.

In the past few day including today, i’ve been having a blast; no efforts needed, no trebs or carta’s, just port away.

In fact i had so much blast, i did the same with my mes.. there were 17 of us doing it; of course we had many thieves with us, just in case..

And a i been told too many times before; it is intended and is not game breaking whatsoever, and Arena.net fully support it.

Remember; as long you have a mes/s hiding inside a keep, no need to treb or attack the keep/tower.

Don’t even bother wasting your time, and effort, for grabbing supplies, mes port will do the job for you.

So.. do your best in hiding and port away.

(i find this the worse mechanic/physic in a mmo).

Well,

(only and none other than Guild Wars 2, cheapness with zero effort needed whatsoever, are considered ‘balanced’)

wait!!

‘working as intented’ is the correct phrase.

hint… put a thief with a mes to stay hidden for a much longer duration.

Bad class for role-playing

Burnfall.9573

Ranger is a light soldier utilizing in fast and flexible combat, skilled in dealing with unpredicted situations. He uses the knowledge of the environment for flanking combat, use of the terrain, survival skills and nature magic.

That is what he is. Hes not an archer, hes not a druid, hes a ranger.

Uh, no. He’s a beastmaster. They only kept the Ranger name due to Guild Wars 1.

Exactly that. They balled up all the left over ideas and made the ranger.

“At one point in development, according to The Making of Guild Wars 2 book, the ranger profession of the original Guild Wars was split into many different professions, notably the warden and the marksman. Eventually, with only marksman remaining, who only possessed only the aspect of ranged weaponry, was combined with already scrapped elements of warden and beastmaster, and renamed the result as ranger for the sake of the original series.” – gw2 wiki

The cost of loosing our Integrity and Unity

in Ranger

Posted by: Burnfall.9573

Burnfall.9573

Why do you think, thieves survived this long with Perma-stealth?

Why do you think they remain Op, even after this recent “nerf”?

Why do you think they continue to be in-denial of the truth, even when the truth ‘is in their face’

Why do you think they continue to make us feel inferior to them every second, every minute?

Why do you think they can laugh at each “nerf” they get?

Why do you think they will quickly ’gang up on you/ unite, to get you quickly kicked out of their forum for exposing bugs and imbalances of their class?

Why do you think Arena.net still favor them till this day?

Because of their Fidelity, self- preservation, unity- Integrity, to their class.

And yes,

They would ‘fight to the teeth’ and eradicate any threats or harm, that will and would, jeopardize their class in any way possible or impossible.

I’m talking about the Ranger forum, whose threads and posts boasting about the Perma-Fury bug including the most recent posts, threads that exposes more ways to perma-fury.

Seriously,

where is our Integrity, slef-preservation, honor and unity to our class?

where are they?

Well the cost and damage has been done to our divided exposure state, Arenaa.net’ will put an end to the fury ‘bug’ and “hotfix” it as soon as possible.

And yes, including the most recent perma-fury’ exposures in the ranger threads and posts.

As much i hate thief class; not the players, there is one thing i cherish and embrace about their class; that stand out— their Unity, Integrity and Fidelity to their class.

Who would dare expose or admit thief class being able to Perma-stealth, or even Op without being ‘chased out of the universe’? they never gave me the satisfaction of admitting the truth of their class bing OP’

So why we Rangers are so comfortable, and proud of exposing and admitting to any advantage we have (for once in our life-time) ‘perma-fury’ among each other, to other classes, especially to Arena.net ?

Or to support a thread making claims it exists?

Have you ever seen, or read any thief admitting, confessing, boasting of having/being able to Perma-stealth in their forum, especially to Arena.net?

Till this day, say to them that they are a Op/Godmode class, they will deny it ‘to their death bed’.

So why do we do the complete opposite?

No longer we should blame them our Arena.net for nerfing our class to oblivion, or should blame them for making empty promises to our class, or even should blame thieves and warriors for remaining Op even after their “nerfs”.

The only blame we should blame, is ourselves for loosing our integrity and our unity as rangers.

I’m ashamed of being a ranger now; this time it isn’t by thieves, warriors or Arena.net, it is by US.

As the saying goes,

“Discretion shall preserve thee”,

“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided”

Burnfall.9573

We understand you obviously are in favor of this bug…I mean I would be too on my Ranger. The point is that it was an unintended change and we are obligated to fix it. We were just talking and one thing we do want to do with Ranger is find more places to place Fury. A lot of these posts are just erratic emotional responses filled with tons of hyperbole. The Ranger isn’t going to “go back into being useless” because of this fix, because it’s already strong. Sure it has it’s flaws like all classes but it is one of the top classes in PvP and in PvE it is competitive with top burst damage. It’s got better support than many classes and it has probably the best elite in the game. I mean it’s got an 87% participation rate in the 2v2 tournaments that have been happening every weekend. What that means is that one was on every single team in the tournament except one.

Sorry I don’t have more time to chat but things will be getting better for the Ranger in the future. You can count on it.

we hope so.

Why is this in GW2 general? An old video sharing website of yesteryear having issues with copyright claims… I just don’t see the connection, even when video games are specifically mentioned.

Basically, why should we care about youtube copyright claims?

If you had read the article; this upcoming changes is not about youtube, it’s about company copyrights being used without their permission.

Arenanet's stance on Youtube content ID

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Burnfall.9573

The change will also affect us players who have or had posted guild wars 2 copyright game play videos on you tube; channel.

What i’m worried about are the builds and the walk through guide videos.

I encourage Arena.net to comment on these changes.

http://www.tubefilter.com/2013/12/11/youtube-official-statement-contentid-claims/

“Our biggest story of the week has concerned the recent wave of ContentID claims against gaming YouTube channels. We initially reported that the changes would be tied to a new monetization review system for multi-channel networks that was set to debut in January. The story changed on December 10th, however, when thousands of videos across the site were flagged by ContentID.

The result has been chaos. Twitter has exploded, response videos are popping up en masse, and some creators are halting production on their videos as they try to figure out which claims are legitimate and which ones come from patent trolls or unrelated third parties.

In the latest development, YouTube has released an official statement that helps clear up the situation a little bit. The site has confirmed that the recent explosion of copyright claims is indeed related to a new system that will subject affiliate partners of MCNs to ContentID scanning. As a reminder, “affiliate” refers to most network partners, while the other category, “managed”, refers to channels where the network itself has taken a more active role.

Here is the unedited statement, in full:

“We recently enabled Content ID scanning on channels identified as affiliates of MCNs. This has resulted in new copyright claims for some users, based on policies set by the relevant content owners. As ever, channel owners can easily dispute Content ID claims if they believe those claims are invalid.”

This statement confirms what most creators already knew about the situation, but some troublesome elements are still unexplained. Why are so many claims coming from third parties with no apparent ties to game publishers? Why did YouTube enact this change much sooner than the January date it initially told Maker Studios? More philosophically, why would game publishers want to tear down a system that provides incalculably valuable exposure for their products?

We hope to get some more answers from YouTube soon. In the meantime, a video from YouTube gamer DPJ gives a nice overview of the ContentID system, explains what creators can do to fight against unjust claims, and shows off some impressive sniper rifle skills to boot".

I think this would greatly benefit Guild Wars 2 by a huge margin; especially with the overbearing laggings, crashes, freezings, missing textures, screen bleeding, skill laggings, very slow loadings etc… that we are still experiencing, till the present day.

I encourage Arena.net to embrace and to consider this marvelous wonder.

Your thoughts……

In fact i do take that very seriously!!

“Everything that AN did was taking qq of noobs seriously”. In other word, not giving the other player a fair chance in the battlefield is being a noob/qq?

For example; if you want to fight me; you have a hammer and i have a stick, am i being a ‘noob/qq’ for calling it unfair?

ex; if we both have a hammer; yours with 10x damage and min with 1x damage, am i a ‘noob/qq’ for calling that foul play?

Seriously,

(you warriors need to be humble to have anything going good for you)

As the saying goes, “The Way Of The Warrior Is Not In His Strength, but In His Submission

Yeah… those sayings you keep mentioning? Not real sayings. You’re just pulling them out of your backside. In fact, I’m fairly certain that applies to 95% of your forum post content actually.

You ramble on about truth! which is actually just your personal opinion. Opinions can neither be right nor wrong. But you are wrong when you start claiming your opinion is truth.

The truth is that class balance is highly subjective. It is EXTREMELY difficult to balance moves which are similar with moves that are dissimilar, even if their goal is the same. It goes into a whole ’nother level when you try to add unique mechanics, traits, build diversity, etc.

To FURTHER complicate that, you throw the META into the mix. The meta can easily take an ability and, while mechanically is considered to be OP and may in fact be quite powerful, reduce it’s effectiveness to a balanced state. Why? Because everyone knows about it, and everyone knows how to counter it, and is prepared to do exactly that.
For example: Bulls/100b was “TEH OP!” way back when, till everyone realized “stunbreaker, GG”.

And after preaching all about your so alled truth, you make highly absurd examples, like “yours with 10x damage and min [sic] with 1x damage”

And let’s not overlook this gem of yours: " you warriors need to be humble to have anything going good for you "

So in that simple statement, you’ve made it obvious that you’re both biased against the Warrior class, and that you clearly see this as an “US versus THEM” argument, and not a constructive discussion about balance.

I mean this sincerely: please stop posting in the warrior forum, forever.

Way of the Warrior

A Warrior has no reason to be Cruel.

They do not need to prove their Strength.

A Warrior is Courteous even to his enemies.

Without this outward show of Respect,

we are nothing more than Animals

http://dulfy.net/2013/11/01/gw2-dec-10-class-balance-patch-preview/
—————————————————-

http://dulfy.net/2013/12/05/gw2-new-healing-skills-for-next-patch/

Ranger Water Spirit -> Aqua Surge

Base heal is 810 or so. Spirit has a chance to heal (35%, can be increased via traits) every 10 seconds. Spirit lasts 60 seconds and broadcast radius of 1000. Using it give you the Aqua Surge active skill which has an initial self heal and also cause the Water Spirit to do an AoE heal (2k heal with a radius of 240). If you trait with Nature’s Vengeance (Activated skills of spirits are larger and trigger when the spirit is killed), the self heal won’t trigger again but the spirit’s AoE heal will trigger again. .

Warrior: Defiant Stance

All stance traits will affect it. Convert all incoming damage (both physical and condition dmg) to heal. Base duration is 3 seconds (3.75s if traited). Small base initial heal so if you do mess up using it, you still get healed a small amount. Agony and fall damage will go through this. Don’t use Endure Pain and Defiance Stance together.

Necromancer: Signet of Vampirism

Signet of Vampirism. Passive – you get healed everytime you get hit with 1s internal cooldown (around 300 heal per hit). Active put a 25 stack siphon debuff on the target that lasts 5 seconds. Any ally that attack the target will siphon life from it (also 1s internal cooldown). The debuff only lasts for 5 seconds so the maximum you can siphon yourself is 5 attacks. The siphon also deals damage so it is a nice added DPS boost. Target has a mark on their head so you will know if you get this debuff on you.

Mesmer: Signet of the Ether

Mesmer – Signet of Ether. The passive does not heal you if you don’t have illusions out. it is a 3 second pulse. Passive is weaker than healing signet but active is stronger to make up for it. 5500 heal for the active and very useful for phantasm builds since it reset all of the phantasm skills (i.e. phantasm berserker, duelist etc).. At 250 heal power. 1 illusion – 350 heal every 3 seconds. 2 illusions – 681 heal every 3 seconds. 3 illusions it is ~1000 heal every 3 seconds. Active also recharge your utility phantasm skills, allowing you to get a couple of illusion defenders out.

Guardian: Litany of Wrath

We didn’t want to buff tanky or support guardians that much. This is mostly for DPS guardians. ~1640 base for the first heal but 20% of the damage you deal is returned to you as heal for the next 6 seconds. If you trait for Meditations you get ~4000 for the first heal. Stuns/blind can counter this heal.

Engineer: A.E.D. Toolbelt: Static Shock

Engineer: Gadget skill.Base healing if you don’t reach the lethal damage is ~4300. Lethal damage heal is ~12,000. Static shock for F1 skill (stun them for 1s). Coooldown is 40s but you can use Speedy Gadgets to lower the cooldown a bit (down to 32s). There is also a trait that recharge your skills when you drop below 25% that is good to go with it.
If you see an engineer with AED buff, stop attacking or if he takes lethal damage he will heal for a large amount.
Scales good with healing power, can heal for 16000 in a full healing build if you take lethal damage.
You can do interesting combos like use it before you hit the 25% mark, take lethal damage, “die”, proc and your heal will be reset.
Falling damage will still kill you.

Elementalist: Arcane Brilliance

Arcane Brilliance. 3600 heal base (if you hit no target). You can hit up to 5 targets and it will raise by 20% per target (7200 HP with 5 target). Blast finisher. This skill is a PABOE with a cast time (so it doesn’t bypass CCs). Arcane wave is made into a ranged ground target as we didn’t want these skills to be too similar.
0.75s cast time, 240 radius. 25s recharge and work with Arcane traits. Players can counter this heal by blinding the ele, causing them to only heal the base amount. You can also interrupt the heal.
Zerker eles hit around 800-900 dmg with this skill.
Scales up with healing power and the 20% healing effectiveness per target scales both the base heal and the healing power effectiveness.

Thief: Skelk Venom

Skelk Venom. 4300 initial self-heal and 685 heal for every attack for the next 4 attacks. The heal for every attack can be shared with allies. Quick Vendom will bring it down to 36 CD. Leeching Venom allow you to heal even more. Warrior can get about 20% HP from this shared heal (5.4k HP or 7.3k HP if you equip cleric amulet on the thief).

You are blaming the OP for not ‘dodging the bullet’, after being killed by a sniper who he/she can not see or target.

My opinion about the game ? (A rant)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Burnfall.9573

Burnfall.9573

Hello it’s me again…

You all have missed the point. Every-one agrees that warriors are “OP” right now. They were considered that way too when GW1 first came out. But after 7 years of nerfing they became totally useless. I couldn’t even walk through Jade Quarry with out being instantly killed by a Mesmer or Ranger, I wont go into 66 monks… After 5 years you had to beg and plead with a group to take you on any harder adventure. And that was with 500 skills to choose from. If I had a top of the line, water cooled gaming monster this would not change. I see in the near future after game balancing Warriors will become the weakest class yet again, and the balancing for PvP will effect PvE. Or why my original title was “Why does ANET hate warriors?”

Honestly you’re right, half the warrior stunbreaks don’t work in the tower, that’s one of the things that made it unfun.

Thank you so much for this, some-one was listening.

If you are a guy (ranger) wearing jeans and a t-shirt holding a bow and see me (fighter) wearing metal armor from 100 yards and I charge you, you will at some point will hit me a few times and I will die, but if I find you 3 feet from me you will die almost instantly.

I’m literally laughing my kitten off right now.
A condition warrior killed by a bow ranger – do you even use your keyboard?

Let me first say I am not making a threat, nor am I serious…

I will fly you out and give you a bow, I will put on a set of mail and grab a sword and we will enter a 8X10 room minus the furniture. Who do you think is gonna walk out of that room? I’m sorry my money is on me. I have issues with game nerfs that change this outcome.

As far as low rez graphics not being fun I got 3 words…

Super Adventure Box

The almighty hammer is the way most warriors go right now, what will you do once they take that away from you? If they must balance the game why not make the weaker classes stronger or faster rather than always making the warrior weaker? The 15% reduction in long bow damage will effect me in PvE right now but they didn’t do that to the rangers long bow. How is this fair? And if they pass on the instant condition removals to NPC foes I will once again have wasted much time and game gold and this has me upset.

i feel you are being sincere Op. You said something very reasonable and wise, buying a new computer will not change anything about warrior class", i completely agree with you on that.

But

Yes, i said it! you said something that is unreasonable of how warrior should be masters of bows; totally untrue. Where in warfare history where a warrior was ever one?

From ancient history to present history, you will never find one.

Rangers/archers were always Masters of bows; even in all mmo’s combined, you will NEVER see/find a warrior being efficient and being masters in bow; well… only in Guild Wars 2; which is ridiculous and an insult to warfare history.

Seriously,

You should know that already basted on your age and your history. How would you feel if Rangers/Archers wore heavy set armors? how would you feel if Rangers/Archers were better at weaponry than a warrior? how would you feel if Rangers/Archers were better at everything 2x than a warrior? would that be Justified?

Well, in that case to you, it would.

In other word, leave rangers/archers out of your rant and focus on improving your class.

Because of warriors unjust selfish cause, it is why the ranger class is treated like an outcast and continuously being punished by warriors elitist demand; to completely enslave and control them.

First was our Pet leech range nerf,
than was our Bow range nerf,
than was our Bow damage nerf,
also than was our pet damage nerf,
than was our spirit nerf,
finally than, our survivability being severely nerfed

Aren’t you Satisfied… yet

Nerf Wish list

in Thief

Posted by: Burnfall.9573

Burnfall.9573

I’m finally able to take some time to carefully examine thief class conditions, including the suggested nerfs in this thread.

So lately, I’ve resided in requesting thief overall class re-design, instead of nerfs.

Why so?

As i had already posted, nerfing thief class will not fix ‘break’ this class, not a bit because of 2 reasons; stealth and invincibility.

You can not separate them at all, and unfortunately, this is what i believe Arena.net is trying to do; and it will not work.. ever!

It’s like trying to separate your brain from your head and say that you’re alive".

Seriously,

who can live without a brain?

My wishlist for thief class, is to redesign the class from the ground up.

As the saying goes, “if you can not make something new, replace it with a new on”

(We are extremely, severely, miserably tired and frustrated of the broken, out-of-control, total-wreck thief; it is time to bring out the new, well-loved, humble, caring thief).

PSA: Stealth is not invincibility

Stealth

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stealth

" is an effect which allows the stealthed character to be invisible to enemy players and avoid being detected.."
———————————————-

Stealthy/Stealth

quiet and secret so that no one sees or hears you
———————————————

http://dictionary.reverso.net/english-definition/invincible

incapable of being defeated; unconquerable”
—————————-

Synonym-Invincible

http://thesaurus.com/browse/invincible

1. invulnerable
2. unattackable
——————————
http://references-definitions.blurtit.com/38643/what-does-invincible-mean-

In conclusion,

The word can be used in various contexts and whether it is a sports team, an army or a person you can use the word freely if they fall under the category of being undefeatable”.
————————————

Final Conclusion

Stealth and invincibility are synonyms; they share the same similarities, behaviors and uniqueness.

In other word, like a husband and a wife; you can not separate them, they are faithfully married to each other.

Thief is built around Stealth/Invincibility, and that is why this class is very hard to break

(it is the same, as we are trying so hard to separate stealth from invincibility; in the end, we all will fail miserably)

it is also the same way when you try so hard to septate a faithful husband and a wife; you will fail miserably.

That is also why we will continue to fail miserably to thief class in years to come.

Nerfing them is not the way..

Nerfing them will not be the way…

There’s no other way…

except

to completely ‘break’ redesign thief class from the ground up.

It’s the Truth

If you don’t want the truth?, if you don’t want to accept the truth? if you don’t like the truth? if you do not want to take action for the truth; than nothing will happen, nothing will be done, to thief class,

Including Dec 10

Yes, i said that right!

Nothing will happen to thief class!!

As the saying goes, “the truth will set you free, only if you want to change for the good”

The good for thief class, is for complete class redesign.

Period!!

Please explain this > https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Thief-Stealth-Worst-Mistake-In-The-Game/first

Thief

“The 3 main issues with wvw thieves which could be fixed are..

1. Perma-stealth:

Change heartseeker into a combo finisher Whirl , or change the 2 free initiative regained on stealth to have a 10 sec Cooldown.

2. Perma-cure:

Change condition cure in stealth so that it doesnt instantly cure every time you refresh stealth, so that 3 heartseeekers in a blackpowder field doesnt instantly remove 3 conditions as well as removing a 4th 3 sec later. This is far too much condition removal on demand without sacrificing any utility slots.

3. Perma-blind:

Change the AoE blind on stealth to have a 20 sec cooldown, an AOE blind every 3 sec is far too strong. Most active blind skills are single target with 20sec + cooldowns".

I like how this other thief put it as well,

“Stealth is not what is poorly designed, the traits that augment stealth, and how much access they have to it is what is poorly designed there is a difference between the two, other classes besides thieves use stealth, ex. Mesmers. If you screw with the stealth mechanic you will not only affect thieves but all classes that use stealth. The problem in the design in thieves and how the have access to it”.

And for the last one….

“Thief survival should come from evades, not stealth”.

I’m in total complete agreement with these 3 thieves truthful statements.

Which support my opposition and cause; Thief was created to be a Narcissistic Monopolist Tyrant Sadistic class.

Mmorpg reality teaches us, these class designs will fail miserably in the end.

As the saying goes, “when one violate the rule of balance, so shall their end be violated”

thanks for reading.

Is it time to put a cap on damages?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Burnfall.9573

Burnfall.9573

Simply as the title states, damages are out of control, seriously where does 9k-35k damages are even considered "balanced:?

Most certainly they are inexcusable and unjust, and how is that even considered ok?

My encouragement to Arena.net, please put a cap Damage; you did extraordinarily well with conditions, so why not implement damage cap across the board?

So here is my suggestion and solution ; all Aoe’s Damages; 3k cap, everything else-5k cap, period!

What is so wonderful about having them implemented; less nerfs, no Favoritism, no Elitist ism, no class Unfairness and definitely,no Op classes.

Most importantly, having no more outrageous notorious game breaking damages.

So at the end of the day, every class will be given equal access to the same pool of damages, like other classes.

Of course!, every class will differ in damages………

So, i leave room for your thoughts, suggestions, oppinions?

Two Questions

in Ranger

Posted by: Burnfall.9573

Burnfall.9573

Tumult:

I don’t think their quote was ranger specific. They used the same language for any number of classes endurance skills. The bottomline is they want more active v passive regen. They don’t want as many dodges which is a good thing for PvP and WvW. Remember, the other guy can’t just evade your attacks now any easier.

Ranger has an enormous number of picked (v passive) traits that can get your vigor back to what you had. Other classes, not so much. . . . That actually helps rangers.

so it is ok to nerf ranger’s dodges, while thief and warriors evasion are ok?

Even with all the dodges we have, we are still prone to be killed, buT not them?

So who’s the bigger threat,

one who rolls yet still can die?

or

One who evades and is hard to kill?

What balance team comes out with this?

Seriously,

we need out true love Arena.net from guild wars back;

-the one who gave us unconditional love even when we sometimes felt lonely and could do better.

-the one who made us feel our lives were meaningful as rangers.

-the one who made us feel we had a purpose in guild wars.

-the one who yearned to put a smile to our face, to our heart and to remind us, we are special…..precious.

As the saying goes, “If You Love Something, You Have To Protect It”

In other word, If You Love Something, Hold On To It Tight.

and we felt it.

-we do not want to be controlled anymore
- we do not want to be manipulated anymore
-we do not want to be forced to change into something which we hold dearly, anymore
-we do not want to be treated as an outcast anymore.
-we do not want to be a scapegoat for the elitists, superior classes, anymore.
-we do not want to be lied to as being special, anymore.
-we do not want to be betrayed, anymore.

Please! return to us once more….

Nerfs are deserved, I like what they are doing next patch.

Hammer damage was way to high compared to the CC it dealt.

Why are they not nerfing Fear on necros too ?

Unblockable.From range.Instant.Does damage.No animation.

because Fear doesn’t output excessive amount of damage compare to Earthshaker, that’s why.’

Would you say a snowball is the same as a rock?

(snowball-Fear) same (rock-Earthshaker)??

This is what i’m worried about, if Arena.net doesn’t balanced them before release.

Are there any reason to be concerned?
