A little bird has told me Ellen Kiel supports giving everyone a free precorsor.
Vote for Ellen Kiel.
I don’t trust Ellen Kiel one bit. But c’mon. Who doesn’t want bikini wear, drinks on the beach, and free precursors?
I say: Vote Ellen Kiel. We’ll deal with the cost of that decision later.
Sorry, but that’s not something we can do en-mass on the forum.
However, you could set it in your signatures. Those can be set by clicking the edit profile button on your user profile and entering it into the signature box. Then just make sure the Show Signature box is checked when you post and your support will be displayed for all to see.
You mean, like this?
How many people have actually gotten a charged quartz from their node?
Yes, I agree, they did a very good job with these achievement chests. And the skins you can unlock are actually good skins, as well. They didn’t go for the cheap and easy road, but they actually took a step back and looked at what is best for the future – the road ahead.
And the road ahead includes concurring China with GW2. This reward system will be a proper incentive for the hopefully massive amount of new Chinese players in the future.
The implementation of the new reward system was a job very well done.
That’s not good enough.
It doesn’t explain why, amongst the last 750 threads I’ve scrolled back to, there was no substantial comment from a dev to any of the questions asked on this crafting forum.
Technically speaking, there was one “substantial” comment from a dev, if one call call it that; someone asked why the new recipes introduced during the F&F event required such an insane amount of ingredients, to which the answer was – and I kid you not – that “The new food buffs last twice as long, I believe”.
That’s it. That’s the only substantial comment received in the last 750 threads. I dare not go further, it may be worse.
Learn the crafting system to be a better “flipper”. If you have no clue about crafting, you can’t see the impact of certain changes you read in the patch notes. Patch notes are essentially the biggest market shifters in the game, it’s a big hustle and bustle in flipperland every time new patch notes are up.
Bumping for awareness. I see a lot of valid questions asked on the crafting forum right now, which will never be answered. The guy that’s forging superior sigils/runes, for example, should post his question in the BLT section as it’s a very good question that needs player feedback and, ultimately, dev feedback. Since the latter in practice never happens here, players won’t visit the crafting forum and provide the feedback that question deserves.
Yea I wondered about this as well. Just turned my ascended book of secrets into a wind catcher though, so it would be too late for me.
Or, as one poster suggested, time-gating is designed to accomodate casual players. You know, people that have a job, spouse, kids perhaps?
Within 2 hours of gameplay, you can acquire some of the best rewards this game has to offer. Laurels, arenanet points, karma jugs, mystic coins, XP. And now: charged quartz. It’s a theory that made sense to me.
The only thing that really bugs me – and which I in fact consider a “bug” – is the level 80 requirement on celestial recipes (which, incidentally is not on the celestial insignia/inscription recipes?). It’s absurd, illogical and antithetical to the very core of the game’s crafting system design.
If “people” can buy 8 million (yes, million!) leather squares in the span of an hour, they can also buy a few thousand dyes in the span of a day. Other than that, it is incredibly easy to generate new dyes through the laurel system, as laurels are literally being thrown at players these days through the chest reward system.
Next time, when you see the prices of dyes skyrocketing, I would advise you to not go into “market-manipulation” mode, but to think quickly how you can turn this knowledge into your favor. Had you immediately converted some laurels to unidentified dyes, you’d have been certain to get at least one nice dye in the gray spectrum which would have sold for crazy prices.
I honestly cannot recall the last time that I saw a dev response on this part of the forum. Are the crafters of this game perhaps not important enough to merit interaction?
The result is that any crafting related questions are put in the BLT section, or in the general discussion section, where they often do not belong. Is this perhaps intended?
Or is this part of the forum perhaps more a “players helping players” forum, with the exception that questions on this forum are focused on crafting? I’m honestly trying to understand the thought behind this developed practice.
Rangers are not sufficiently competitive right now for sPvP. Our DPS and group utility does not compare to other classes, we simply don’t bring enough to the table to compete. There’s only so much “player skill” can make up for; at the top, you can’t compete against basic game design. And when the stakes are this high (fat prize money), teams will not be willing to just “give it a go”. Most top level players play several classes (which is why they became so good), and know their team will stand a better chance of winning when they play other classes.
And don’t even get me started on the ranger’s chances in PvE. There’s a reason why they’re being kicked from dungeon groups left and right. Again, this is due to basic game design. PvE design centers around the concepts of dodging and DPS (the “fast boss killing” way usually being more way more efficient than the “using-complicated-tactics-to-eventually-kill-the-boss-the-way-he-was-intended-to-be-killed” way). Compared to other classes, our DPS is low, and our pets can’t dodge which means we often produce DPS that is either sub-par or, depending how much vit/tough/heal is slotted, abysmal.
And no, I really don’t like the situation I described either.
One pet wish? More pet control (particularly, blast finishers, but perma-stow helps in “evade” situations where your pet cannot but die a very quick death).
Two pet wishes? Un-nerf pet damage.
Three pet wishes: Improved F2 activation/reaction time.
But sure, I’ve asked for a griffon since the second week following the game’s release. It’s no longer at the top of my wish list though. Too much gutting of our class and all that.
Ashadow was alluding to the introduction of radiant armor, which everyone and their mother just received today.
En mass, they wanna color-match their very shiny very white gloves with the rest of their armor. Don’t worry, prices will subside in a month or so, once all the other radiant armor pieces have been handed out.
It’s just so people like me who have every recipe won’t flood the market with products as we gain more quartz.. also this way it makes all those recipes we’re finding right now worth something since anyone who wants the items will have to craft them themselves. They just didn’t want people taking advantage of a limited supply of something and skewing the market.
I’m only talking tradeable 2 products: orichalcum inscription and gossamer insignia. The rest, allllll the stuff you make with those, you would still have to make yourself.
Not entirely. It just means you would pay a significantly higher price for it. The same way you can buy a near ascended amulet on the TP in one go (for about 180g) – or wait 30+ days to buy almost the same amulet with laurels. Moreover, in this case, it still requires you to craft the final product (armor/weapons) on a lvl 80 character with the relevant maxed out profession yourself. So you can’t buypass that step.

Yes, the level requirement is absurd.
It would have made sense to not make them account bound. Not only because those recipes don’t say they produce an account bound product, or that these recipes have no level requirement as opposed to all other celestial recipes (which I consider a bug not in line with anet’s crafting philopophy since day 1), but also because it promotes trade. Those that don’t want celestial insignia/inscriptions can make them for others and earn some decent coin, while others can deck themselves out in the gear they prefer.
Dunno about quartz but celestial recipes should be pretty firm since no one can make those items for you.
I agree this requirement is absurd and must be unintended. It would defy anet’s philosophy of crafting since day 1.
That food buff is terrible and overpriced.
They are priced at a point where people actually pay for them. So they can’t be overpriced if they sell. Remember, item prices are player set. So if you’d like to try and manipulate the prices down, you’ll have to sell the same item for far less, and hope you have enough supply to offset demand.
It’s overpriced relative to other buffs which are much better.
The point is, better for who? A ranger – for whom power scales horribly – wearing full celestial trinkets, armor, divinity runes and celestial weapons? Or for a mesmer/warrior/guardian in zerker gear? The quality of this buff all depends on the class mechanic, the build and the gear used.
So your point is if someone uses a bad build with bad gear
Your opinion, obviously not mine. You’re presuming this is bad for any build, which is either naive or arrogant because it presumes you know every build of every class better than anyone else.
Don’t forget that jewelry also sucks up mithril ore.
Who needs t5 silk or leather when rare dropped armor is cheaper on the TP, and is slotted with a rune?
What they could do is increase the amount of silk needed for an 18 slot bag to 1000 bolts/squares, but that would require an entire revision of the bag system, which moreover is not profitable for anet given that they want to encourage selling inventory slots.
Particles on bows you say? It’s called the rule of ranger randomness. It’s cool for a few days, but it’ll be nerfed soon.

Even if the food buff was the best in the game which I don’t think it is at least not for most builds, I wouldn’t see it as pay to win. I’d just flip other stuff on the TP, buy gems with gold and then buy the cakes with gems.
You mean you’d have bought the rich coffers with gold converted to gems for a chance at the recipe. But in essence your point is correct.
Not entirely. Stacking this food with armor and weapons and runes and trinkets is very powerful indeed. Not for all classes, but for some, yes. This food gives approximately twice the stat points of other foods. Very scattered, yes, but it’s stacking it with the rest that makes it powerful. So while I agree the food is pricy, I think based on the mat cost it should be more pricy.
(edited by Buttercup.5871)
Did the OP even realize that star cake is actually cheaper to buy on the TP than to make it yourself? It’s not pay to win. It’s pay to pay. I have the recipe. Yet I’d rather sell the mats and buy the cake straight off the TP.
Rangers, by a long shot. Pun intended.
Well. I saw three million thick leather squares getting sold in 1 hour.
Gotta hand it to them; it was definitely effective! I’m glad this happened, it was very, very necessary. I take my virtual hat off to whoever came up with this idea.
Was about to post, and then I saw Fay. No point trying to beat Fay.
You’re most welcome Estrella. I’m hoping you get some good results! I’ve stopped opening them after 12 tickets, I really don’t need more
The more insecurity there is on an item’s future, the more likely you are to buy that item sooner rather than later. You can expect Anet to keep its silence as long as it’s profitable to do so. Once sales decline, the armor gets a timer for a temporary super sale boost.
I hear the afterlife has the best wifi anyway, and you get all the updates in advance, so you’re just moving to a better server.
From star dust we came and to star dust we go.
As Peter Pan said, there is no greater adventure.
This. It chillingly hits home.
It is with 100% seriousness that I say: Ain’t nothing wrong with dying. You’ll do fine.
And, ultimately, this.
I could say “have strength”, but by your post, you have already shown way more of it than this community together. Your family needs you now. We’ll be OK.
Yea I wasn’t certain about the one not wearing that armor (bit small on my phone). The first one I saw was the armored one.
Btw, we know that it’s accessible from LA. Which the dominion is. East of the map, where the road ends. That gate leads to the dominion.
There is an entrance to the dominion of the winds in Lion’s arch. Where the road stops in the east is a gate, closed, guarded by Tengu.
Edit: look at the map, it leads straight to the dominion. Haha, this is the last thing I needed for confirmation, together with that last spoiler picture in the other thread.
(edited by Buttercup.5871)
It’s a no-brainer. It’s the dominion of the winds.
There’s even a tengu in the picture, I think. Look close.
Edit: make that two tengu. One is wearing very funky armor.

Sorry for being confusing. I simply don’t know the answer. They will either get stuck at 59 copper, or at 3 silver. This item, due to the massive amount that is available, is superhard to predict. It may take a year for the price to rise, or it spikes before the end of the event. I don’t know, but to be fair, I’m not going to worry too much about it either.
They’re 90 copper now haha!
And thats a good thing. The cheaper before event end the better.
You dont believe in them I get it. But please come back and “haha” in a month or two.Look at the charts of previous RNG boxes. The prices are always lowest 3-4 days before the event ends.
You are presuming too much
you didn’t think I bought a truckload at that price? People get too edgy when it concerns their virtual pocket.
They’re 90 copper now haha!
Gabby’s experience is why I’m still skeptical about the theory that MF applies to everything.
We have hundreds of thousands of players in GW2 at any particular time, and usually only those who are extremely lucky, or extremely unlucky, will come to the forums to post about their experiences. We can’t really rely on the experiences of these outliers since it’s likely that the silent majority fits neatly into the “bell curve” of statistical outcomes.
I was just as sceptical as you, except after 10k coffers, less sceptical. Gabby’s experience, although unfortunate, does not mean “disprove” the theory. Neither does my experience “prove” it either. You just need more than 4 people trying this. And since no one is willing to try it, which I fully understand since it’s not in line with what we’ve been told about MF, this theory will just go to the waste bin.
Bah that really sucks! Well, at least you didn’t have to pay for the coffers, but it still sucks monkeyballs. I really hoped you’d get a ticket, you’ve been exceptionally unlucky during this event when it comes to tickets.
As a player around the top 500 NA in achievement points, I absolutely agree that dailies/monthlies shouldn’t count for achievement score. Dailies and monthlies pollute the achievement score with points that really don’t say anything about one’s achievements, but speak more to the volume of hours spent in-game.
I so do not understand this mentality. Anet says “behold, we will give you free stuff”! Instead of saying “wow, nice, thank you!” you say “mmmm, nice, but don’t let other people get more rewards than me, because I deserve it more. Because look, I did all this difficult stuff whereas they had it easy!” I’m not a fan of this attitude. Therefore, I’m just gonna say “thank you!”, and say points are points. I don’t care one iota if my neighbor therefore receives more rewards than I do. Such demands always backfire anyway, so stop asking for it.
That’s silly. This must be a bug. It normally costs 10 pieces to make; anyone willing to craft 3G worth of star cake for a tray should be able to do that. It benefits the economy any way you look at it.
You mean it benefits your entire WvW zerg any way you look at it.
You mean like any other food type, this one just being significantly more expensive than others? I dunno about you, but generally guilds don’t have unlimited funding. If you raid 4 hours an evening, that’s 24 gold per evening minimum. Without taking into account all the gold you have to pump into siege weapons, keep/tower upgrades, etc.
About 300 rares salvaged in the last 24 hours: usual salvage rates for me.
Salad boy is nothing compared to the names Gixx (asuran, leader of priory order) has for Sieran (sylvari, priory order, lower in rank): “you blasted weed”, “you leaf-addled reprobate”, “you whomp-leaved lunatic”, and “you pernicious petal-brain”.
While I found this very funny, I must admit I did wonder the same thing as the OP.
As much as I rage about the ranger gutting, I do really like the 2 week content. I like it very much. Makes the economy incredibly lively as well. I commend Anet on this system, which is very labor intensive. I prefer it above any other “bringing new content” system I’ve seen in all other MMO’s I’ve played. It’s innovative and it keeps the game interesting. The only thing I fear is the extent at which Anet will let the RNG elements dominate this content. If they get that balance right (as well as class balance), it will be good indeed.
Player “feeling fabulous”, if you’re reading this: thanks for putting that second question to Chris Whiteside. His face was all the confirmation I needed to be absolutely confident shelving my ranger was a good idea.
My main is a Ranger and well… I think I’ll stay silent on that. However, could you elaborate or link what you’re referring to, as to why shelving the ranger is a good idea.
Currently I’m trying to figure out which alt character will become my main.@Vol – I saw what you did there – sell, SELL, SELL! lol :P
It’s discussed at the end of the IGN interview; the OP’s link goes to a page with 2 links, one of which is an IGN interview.
