Rangers have a pull on offhand axe that functions a lot like scorpion wire :/
This. Your axe 4 and 5 are your friend in the fight against Liadri. Axe 4 to pull the adds, and axe 5 to kill them (as well as Liadri, although you might find yourself quietly humming the theme song from m*a*s*h* when trying that).
Liadri is, at least on a ranger, indeed insanely difficult. I have not encountered anything like it yet in this game thus far. However, even after playing my ranger for almost a year, I must say I’ve learned quite a few new bits about my class skills and traits that I otherwise never would have taken the time to figure out. So as for Liadri, I like the insane difficulty level. It’s rewarding. Ultimately. It’s a frustrating road to get there though.
What I don’t like, is now reading on the forums – which I’ve ignored for a while – that people are exploiting the gambit system, or queueing up together in the same arena, purposefully. It’s creating an enormous amount of inflation.
Sword/axe and shortbow here. I’m really really emphasizing the axe here. It makes all the difference in this fight, so much bettter. You can use axe 4 to pull the adds in the circles, and axe 5 on Liadri or on the adds. If you’re low on health, you can even use axe 5 to kill the adds, die and res instantly with a little more health and your pet revived.
Regarding the pet; I used signet of the beastmaster and signet of stone to have 6 seconds of pet hitting awesomeness and invulnaribility of aoes. It makes a difference. It’s also a nice panic button.
I actually killed Liadri in the last seconds with my axe 5 while she was doing her whirly stufkittend of a suicide move, but it worked. The rest of her health I took with my shortbow.
What materials do the recipes eat?
I wonder whether they do this so that, when the new legendaries + craftable precursor are introduced, there’s a decent supply of these materials available.
Lesson learned: don’t engage in story content, you’ll get richly rewarded!
“Celebration of human spirit and resilience of all the difficulty Kryta has faced.”
-Snorts- Pathetic humans don’t have any spirit, all they do is cry and whine about everything because their gods are no longer there for them to brown-nose. They’re weak and useless without their gods. Hope you humans enjoy your massive pity party.
I have no idea how that comment relates to Charged Shards. To the patch preview, yes, to charged shards, no.
http://dulfy.net/2013/08/05/gw2-queens-jubilee-patch-preview/
“Successfully completing each arena fight will reward you with Elaborate Watchwork Boxes which can rewards Watchwork Sprockets and various crafting mats such as Charged Shards.”
The market is stuffed to the rim with molten cores. For nearly a year scores of people have been running CoF 1 every day about 5 to 10 times a day. Other than that, molten cores drop from all kinds of bags (including WvW loot bags), fractals (the 2nd most popular dungeon), fire elementals all over Tyria, imps, chests, you name it.
If I compare this with the Molten facility, which only ran for one month, and which gave most people 1 sentinel’s intricate insignia (rare quality) per run, which took much longer than 1 CoF run; and seeing that the market is still stuffed with those insiginas, I think the molten cores in people’s banks should run in the millions.
Even if the back item was excotic, I don’t think he could. For the same reason you can’t slot it in armor. To prevent it to function as a rune of divinity.
Still have to use all my vote tokens. Which I’ll use on the last day using a banner. For Evon.
I don’t understand the three dungeon token difference between the first and second screenshot?
Why do people even believe her name is Kiel? Did you even read the stuff about her? She was picked up from a burning ship by Magnus while her parents drowned and, likely, one of her parents was made a champion of zhaitan as a result. Last name “Lethe” is more likely.
You say she’s “good”. Did you even do the candidate trials, and see the disdain she has for the lion guard when she falls out of her role?
If you want the least of the two evils, Evon is your best bet. Voting for Kiel is a vote for more crappy pirate stuff and a candidate with a personal agenda who will lie in your face at every available opportunity.

The TP is easily the biggest gold sink in the game. Decreasing the potential to trade on the TP would decrease the money that flows out of the game significantly. The disparity between the Peters (the “haves”) and the Joes (the “haves-not”) will only become greater. Moreover, casual Joe will become very upset that he can’t buy the stuff that he used to, because it “suddenly all became so expensive!” People just starting the game, who don’t have any coin, will have difficulty catching up. As a result, word spreads the game is not for casuals, and new Joes won’t buy the game.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it now: the only way to limit TP profit is to disable the “buy order” button. Flippers live on the difference between the buy order and the sell order price. It’s really that simple.
A couple of problems with it though:
- You’d be killing off a large portion of the playerbase, namely, those that enjoy flipping items.
- Another major goldsink must be created to fill the void (because of reduced activity on the TP), and it’s very hard to create persistent gold sinks without major player opposition.
- Market manipulation: with no buy orders, you can more easily stealth sell a product at an insanely low price to tank a market very quickly.
I wonder what runes we can craft with the new jubilee update. I’m betting on rune of divinity, through charged Quartz and maybe an added material. Would make sense.
She’s gonna die. It’s kind of obvious. And with her, the balance of power is flipped. Completely.
If Kiel wins, we’re all gonna be nuclear toast; if Evon wins, we’re gonna all be deity toast. In the end, we’re toast. The only thing that is up to you is how we are to be baked. If this choice matters to you, vote.
I think Ellen’s real last name is either Covington or Lethe.
The margonites are the epitome of skimpy armor. Bring it on.
Pirate gear is ugly. It always has been. I’ve had it with the pirate stuff.
It’s a good thing Kiel wears Tier 1 Cultural Human Clothing, aka Scout’s gear, then, eh?
Yea but her aetherblade buddies don’t. I hold them personally responsible for the continuation of this trenchcoat fetish.
Evon is honest in being dishonest. And I’ve had it with the pirate stuff. My vote is with Evon. At least he’ll destroy Tyria in a cool way, I’m not too keen on nuclear explosions set off by a bunch of ugly trenchcoat-wearing pirates.
Pirate gear is ugly. It always has been. I’ve had it with the pirate stuff.
Down with trenchcoats! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhhhhh. Why does it always have to be trenchcoats. Give my ranger, thief and engineer a proper skimpy top for crying out loud.
I’m pretty sure this is anets way to ask their players what type of content they want. Completely new lore, or to better expand on old lore.
Exactly! That’s exactly it! On the money!
As I said in another post, I think both candidates are evil. Both will bring about the destruction of Tyria. Kiel through lying, backstabbing, boring aetherblades and nuclear destruction. Evon, who already has all the money in Tyria (20% tax on all items, duh), wants to find out how Abaddon gained his power – namely, “from an older deposed god” (see wiki). Evon will want to personally destroy Tyria as a deity.
We don’t get to vote whether Tyria will be destroyed, but how it will be destroyed.
If Tyria is to be destroyed, I’ll choose the cool way. From a guy who’s at least not hiding his treacherous nature.
First off, I think both candidates are evil, Evon is just more open about it. Therefore, I’ll vote for him. But let’s get into the nitty gritty.
Kiel wants to rise to power and destroy Tyria through nuclear stuff. Total destruction and all – OK, I get that, pretty straightforward.
If Evon had wanted to destroy Tyria, he could have done so already. With 20 percent on every item sold, he should be a trillionaire by now. He can buy Kryta if he wants to -that is, if he doesn’t own every piece of land already. But what does every villain want when he/she already has all the money in the world? That’s right. Powaaaaaaaaa. Immortalliityyyyyyy.
I think Evon wants us to research what gave Abaddon his power in the first place.
From the wiki: According to the Margonite Apostate, Abaddon gained his power from an older, deposed god.
Perhaps Evon wants some of this power, and then some, mmmm?
With this election, we don’t get to vote if Tyria is to be destroyed, but how.
With that in mind, again, I’ll vote for Evon.
Depends on many things. Such as whether Asia is going to be hooked up to the global TP, and whether the new legendaries will slurp many or few lodestones.
It will be quite a challenge. If linked to the global TP, there will be massive market manipulation. If they don’t link, people will open Asian accounts and, with their intricate knowlege of trading and every part of the game, will get insanely rich in no time. The precursor market in China will be an even larger mess than here, even if they decide to adjust the droprate in China by 1000 percent (in which case manipulation will simply shift to t6 mats and lodestones etc). I think the manipulation will actually be more controllable if they link China to the global TP straight away.
“No” to mislead, an “no” to disappointed. I recognize many of the clips from the game. Trailers always take the best bits of a game. Actually, most MMO trailers don’t even resemble the game. This one is just a giant compilation of cool bits, with even more cool bits added. I like it a lot.
Remember, it’s ok if a few supplies get through. 500 supplies still gets you to the finish line. If the plunderer is 75 % dead and too close to the elites, kill him on his way back, his health will still be 25%. The supplies are only gone if he manages to throw them in the water.
I used a ranger. But it could be done with any. Chose my ranger cause I know she has a kitten load of slows and roots. Mud, frost trap, spike trap, entangle, and 2 pets with a root/immobilize. You basically have 6 roots at your command. Oh, and a huge knock back on your longbow.
Edit: see previous poster, thief burst works just as well, no fancy tricks needed
(edited by Buttercup.5871)
I did it without the bug. I just read there was one. I had presumed others would do it like me; kill the robber at their spawn point. If you get aggro for some reason, hit the water. You will lose some supplies hitting the water, but so be it. Completed it multiple times this way.
(edited by Buttercup.5871)
And yet so many people complete it solo. And post videos on it to help you. Stop being lazy. Look at a video.
Don’t have Facebook. Even if I did I would not start connecting to a game. That kitten is on the Internet forever, you know that right? There’s some pretty successful ppl playing this game, you really think they’d start linking to gw2?
And stop it with the “not successful” part. Anyone who’s on the TP enough knows differently. The active playerbase of gw2 is massive.
I used to go via the mists all the time. Now, I can’t be bothered anymore. In fact, Rata Sum is way more time efficient to do all my stuff in one go. The asurans man, they built that city for some real efficiency. Less laggy, too.
All blue torches have been mentioned above. I don’t know the color of the flames on the vigil’s torch, but if it’s white it would be perfect for the color scheme on which you appear to be set.
The only other torch I can think of that goes with the design of your axe is the corrupted wartorch, although the flame on that is yellow.
As a Kiel supporter, I know she’s the “bad guy”. It’s so obvious by now, it’s almost in your face. She has so much disdain for the Lionguard, it’s becoming funny.
Evon = good, but in a open corruptish kind of way, while Kiel = bad, in a lying backstabbing kind of way.
Mmm. Eventually, I think I’ll switch my vote to Evon.
In the meantime though, I’ll still harass people with my unfounded Kiel support stories.
I’m at work so can’t check out the video. Does it involve standing at the spawn spot of the robber, rooting him when he spawns and killing him fast? This is how I did it a few times with my ranger. We have so many traps for this, it’s amazing (frost, muddy terrain, spike traps); additionally, we have 2 immobilize/roots from pets. And, if all else fails, use your elite – entangle
The idea is to acknowledge that they’re even reading this part of the forum, because it frankly feels VERY abandoned.
Since we are being frank, I think it’s silliness for players to be assured by devs that they are ‘paying attention’ through posting. Again, what value is added doing this, other than making you feel good?
Huh? Players with valid questions regarding crafting don’t want to “feel good”, they want their question(s) answered! Some questions by definition cannot be answered by players. Such as whether it was intended that azurite cannot be morphed from green to rare quality, as is the case with all other gemstones in the game. Amongst those 750+ threads that I scrolled through, there are some incredibly good, well formulated and well pre-researched questions, yet none has been answered thus far. Which begs the question: should any question that relates to crafting be put in another part of the forum to receive the response it deserves, and to which no other player could provide the answer?
Use passiflora/apothecary trinkets and armor, whenever a thief pops up focus on that only. You can solo all 4 stages.
I’m always very puzzled when I read these threads.
Anet implemented a very generous reward system that literally caters everyone very well. For free! Other than that, these chests provide an amazing incentive for new players to obtain achievement points, sign in for their dailies, and participate in all possible content offered (PvE, PvP and WvW). So it’s fantastic from a business and player point of view. Please, just… stop it! Stop it now!
My mouth literally dropped open. After all this time, I did not think it would happen.
These are some very good very necessary additions to our profession.
A blast finisher on our standard WvW weapon? Friggin awesome! Cripple on the move? Finally! And for a decent amount of time, too! Oh man I’m gonna enjoy this so much. And the longbow, ahhhh, it just got buffed good. There’s finally a real point (pun intended) to start using it again.
This. Is. A. Good. Day. Thank you for listening Anet.
It allows your character to change-race-on-equip.
Seriously though, there are a ton of items like these on the TP. People list it in the hope that someone doesn’t notice the price. They say it’s not scamming because they paid the listing fee, and you can see the price when you buy it. I still call it scamming, as you’re tricking someone in the hope he/she doesn’t look at the price properly , makes a mistake and presses “buy now” in the assumption that the item will be priced in the same price range as all other items they (quickly) buy as they level up.
Haha I gave this dye away to a guildie a few months ago. I made my guild look for me in LA, and the first one to find would receive the dye. Still glad I did that, it was fun.
Yea his response pretty much showed he hadn’t read the first post. Well, at least he’s not the only one
Echo echo echo. It’s almost funny how blatantly ignored the crafting forum is.
Ellen Kiel is a woman of action, not of words. And so are her supporters. The number of replies only confirms the fact that Evon Gnashblade is all gnash, but no blade. That is all the number of replies will tell you.
Vote for justice. Vote for bikinis. Vote Kiel.
As long as the campaigning doesn’t become absurd in-game.
As someone who hates the political games we call campaigning, just from reading the forums, I can’t wait until this event is over, and it hasn’t even started officially.
By players it already has become absurd in-game and in the forums, what with people abandoning logic and ignoring other’s statements to try to discredit any opinions that disagree with theirs. Just like real elections, it’s already making me feel sick.
Vote for Ellen Kiel, she will cure your illness once elected.
Can’t we all just get along?
When Kiel is in the council, we can. Gnashblade, on the other hand, plans to sacrifice baby quaggans in his evil experiments for a new fractal.
I can’t help it if Evon reveals his dirty rotten war history on a daily basis. You know, the one where he led the Ogre revolt against queen Jennah? I’m not the specionist here, I’m just a humble historian stating the facts as they really are.
Evon will slash prices on black lion keys. But let’s have a look at those keys, shall we? What does a black lion key unlock? That’s right. Everything you’ve been protesting against for months. Haven’t we had hundreds of threads revolting against RNG? Haven’t we had enough of this by now?
So you get to pay less for black lion keys. I say: why are we paying for RNG boxes in the first place?
Vote for justice. Vote for bikinis. Vote Kiel.
I heard that Evon Gnashblade is only running in the election so that the Black Lion Company can finally take over waypoint control and gear repair.
Once Evon gets elected, WP prices will triple. Moreover, if you want to travel using damaged gearpieces, you will have to pay a “secure travel” fee of 30% per damaged item. Is that really what you want?
Vote for justice. Vote for bikinis. Vote Kiel.
