I like this outfit a lot. I will certainly buy it. That said, it’s a shame it was introduced with the limitations of an outfit, rather than an armor set (i.e. you can’t mix’n match).
Yes. The devs confirmed that it’s allowed. They also warned that it does not always improve your latency: sometimes it does the exact opposite.
That said, I use one. Without it, I get lots of lag and and a generally unstable connection.
Hear hair hear!
+1 agreed.
Don’t forget that WvW badges are also a cost. These badges should be treated similar to dungeon tokens. Don’t be afraid to award WvW players for their efforts.
OP, your post is very non-constructive and filled with superlatives that lack any form of decently argued backing. This alone simply makes it very hard to take it seriously, or even to read from front to back. You have a couple of points that are worth arguing, but the scatter-attack form you’ve chosen doesn’t bring it out
Sorry man, gl.
300 chances: zip. Facetanked that t2 first boss with my ranger on 4 gambits. Goes down in 20 secs, rince and repeat. If you don’t have to wait for others, that’s about 10 chances per minute.
Opened another 200 gauntlet chances. Again, zip. That’s 300 gauntlet chances that didn’t even give a festival favour or anything. Just 300 times 1 festival token. How lame is that?
Opened over a 100 gauntlet chances. Got zip.
The patch notes state there’s a chance to receive items of “masterwork or better” rarity from trading blade shards for gear boxes, but after handing in stacks upon stacks of blade shards, I could only see masterwork items coming from these boxes.
And then there’s of course that new chaos back item recipe. Considering that throusands of people all did the same content over and over again all evening, and no one has yet reported anything on receiving it, I’m figuring there’s something wrong. See also this thread.
Just a PSA to random impulsive gemstore buyers such as myself.
The bazaar mini set is a re-release of the quaggan-mini set.
I approve. Nicely done.
I understand that conditions are strong right now, but making one rune stronger than all others doesn’t change anything for the better. All it does is is make the game hollow. Rune of strength is too powerful. You get 15 stacks of might without even putting any effort in it. That is not balanced. If other runes were as strong it would be ok. But they aren’t; not even my a mile. Again, I have them in PvE and PvP and they outclass any other set I use on any of my eight lvl 80 characters.
I have runes of strength, both in PvE and PvP, and find that they’re stupidly overpowered compared to any other rune. In PvP I actually went from being subpar in 1 vs 1 to winning 1 vs 2.
While I like winning, I’d rather have this imbalance fixed. Personally I think all other runes should be buffed instead, but I realize this is probably not feasible right now (Chinese launch sucks resources, which is understandable).
It would be a good thing if they do dump. The price must go down before it can go up significantly. The longer people hold on to their stocks the longer this whole process takes. When the price really tanks people will have a solid incentive to start identifying their dyes.

Yes they exist. Programmers have repeatedly in this and other sections of the forum stated that they exist (some even acknowledged they used them). They all agreed how incredibly easy it was to write a bot script.
Edit: support managed to successfully handled my request manually per 18 May.

I’m more concerned with the singling out of Anet employees in a thread I created. If there’s going to be more of that I would ask the moderators to please close my thread or purge it.
While everybody seems to be dumping quartz crystals, people aren’t massively dumping their watchwork sprockets. Which makes no sense. Those must tank into oblivion as a result of the gauntlet.
Edit: support successfully handled my request manually per 18 May and sent the dyes in question.

Well to be fair that’s what they said about candy corn or the Halloween staff and bow.
And then it turned out you needed to chuck in 30k candy corn for a bag and a mini. And a gazillions candy corn for a recipe that requires another gazillion-trillion candy corn to acquire the same bloody staff and bow you got for cheap – or as a drop – before.
I’ll just wait and see how many gazillion-trillion quartz crystals and other materials I need to buy the new flavor of the month skins.
They were being distributed at a time that Europe is asleep. Meaning their values have dropped in half already. Btw I just logged in and the 15+ gemstore dyes I was supposed have not arrived yet (I followed all the criteria of logging in on all char long ago, contacting support already on 16 April etc etc). So by the time I get back from work tonight my dyes will be worth a LOT less.
Your efforts are much appreciated Michael. Could you please make sure though that they are not sent out while most of Europe is already sleeping? If you send them within the next 2 hours, there is still a chance some are awake. The timing of your mail has significant ramifications.
The reason why they made it un-salvageable is due to the number of Badges people get from the achievement chests and other types of chests.
Mmm. Even if it would be the reason, which I doubt, it is very questionable whether that’s a good reason. They haven’t shied away from giving out gold through achievement chests. Why would they want to reduce the value of WvW badges to such a drastic extent? I think this measure was the result of the first days of GW2 when it was still filled with botters in WvW. Those days are long gone, the necessity for this drastic measure has become pointless and actually hinders WvW players in progressing along a similar curve as players with a PvE focus.
It’s true that badges of honor are the dungeon tokens of WvW. And that as such, PvE players are rewarded much more for their considerably less challenging effort than WvW players.
I just think that you shouldn’t think in terms of “us” and “them”. It’s everyone’s problem, especially since part of the solution – in my view – to the current precursor madness is allowing WvW exotic weapons to be forgable. Let me briefly explain that further.
I believe WvW weapons should be treated similar to exotic dungeon weapons from AC. While the AC rares can’t be salvaged for ectos (cause it’s a lvl 35 dungeon), the exotics can be salvaged and can be forged. In fact, salvaging AC gear additionally gives a chance at receiving exclusive exotic inscriptions and insignia for certain stat combos. Oh, and of course there’s those bonus runes that are not accessible other than through dungeon tokens (acquired through dungeons or, since 15 April, through s/tPvP). In other words: the disparity in rewards for PvE and WvW are massive. So I absolutely agree this must be addressed. A fix is long overdue.
As a PvE, WvW and tPvP player, I do not see that a fix to the value of badges of honor to conflict with any of my goals in PvE or tPvP.

Props!! Nothing egocentric about it it, it’s a huge accomplishment. Thanks for sharing it with us.

“The Black Lion Weapon Specialists are clearing inventory–they will only be offering the Sclerite and Winter’s weapons for a few more weeks. Now’s the time to finish those Black Lion Claim Tickets and redeem them! ~RB2 #GW2 #GuildWars2”
Bought 50 keys, got 8 scraps (not tickets). Yai me. Hadn’t done it for a while, now I remember why.
But before – and after – you get to the precursor, the TP sucks a great amount of gold in the process. 15 percent of each precursor sale. Which is a LOT. Oh and of course, if you buy the rares from the TP, someone listed them there at a nice 15 percent tax as well. Precursor forging sucks a great deal of gold from the economy.
But yea, precursors are nuts now. Their prices are above any amount of “acceptable” now. And I own 2 legendaries (bolt and the dreamer), I’m not just “whining” about stuff I don’t have. Prices are nuts.
I like it a lot. It’s extremely complex to implement, maybe impossible, but it adds an immense amount of depth (as it did in GW1). It would be fantastic.
Or atleast be able to salvage wvw/karma gear for ecto’s.
I would not push it that far. In your proposal of salvaging karma gear, t2, t3 and t4 cloth will drop to negligible values which the devs obviously did not intend.
Gotta take one step at a time. My proposal is for the forging of WvW weapons bought with earned badges only. It’s only purpose is to alleviate the harsh prices of precursors and to give some value to WvW badges, similar to the way dungeon tokens have value. It’s side effects will be a slight decrease of the ecto and sigil prices, which is already bad enough (but very manageable).
They all work in WvW. And all at the same time.
2500 hours, 500+ rares: no drop no forge ya’all. So I had to make friends with the TP.
Now I have 2 legendaries.
Because they’re OP in WvW. Leave them as a drop in the BL chests only.
15% movement speed is “OP”? loooool
It stacks with the regular 25% speedbuff (like traveler/speed runes or class signets).
So it’s essentially one hour of perma-swiftness.

I hauled Dusk out of the Forge the other day (first ever precursor) and I’m considering selling it but I have no idea what I’d spend the proceeds on. I don’t really need anything.
Is gold that is generated by a precursor sale any different than other gold?
Look man I don’t appreciate riddles, I don’t know where the sphynx nose is, etc.
It’s on its face!
// the knee bone’s connected to the […] //
Google the Sphinx’s nose.
I did! It’s been there all along. You can only see it though if you wear bunny ears or aviator sunglasses.
What a great necro. Props!
Yea. Turtle shells. While they’re at it why won’t we have fire extinguisher backpieces so we can all be like fireman Sam. Throw in some fire helmets too at three thousand gems each and a fireman Sam boom box.

If I with my mere level 180 have 10k badges (I do and have used quite a few already), what would the guy with level five thousand have that I met the other day? I think the impact will be noticeable enough to make the market slightly more healthy. Radical ideas will never be accepted anyway; this is simply an idea to take some of the pressure from the prices, not cure them completely.
It would help a lot if the upcoming forge changes will include allowing exotic weapons bought with WvW badges to be forged. That should keep the prices in check again.
For a reality check: you’d still need about 10k badges for only 10 to 15 tries at the forge but since so many people have surplus earned WvW badges it could work.
The only problem with runes is that they’re not balanced. Rune of strength is so out of whack with the rest that it must skyrocket. It’s an underlying design issue, not a creation issue.
Oh, this thread again.
OP, as has been pointed out by others, you only highlighted the part of the d3 decision that was convenient to bolster your argument. You forgot the fundamental motivation that drove d3 players to the auction house in the first place
Other than that: you should compliment the devs on creating a mini-game out of the TP that people like, it’s the only game form (recognized by John as such) in GW2 that sinks money from it rather than, as normal gameplay does, generate currency and items out of thin air fueling the inevitable inflation. Lastly, you speak of exploits whereas the TP game is the only game that is virtually exploit-free (other than botters, may they all be banned, but you have those in PvE too). Red-eye? Destructive with or without the TP. Linen and snowflake exploits? They all created massive amounts of currencies crashing people’s hard earned items and time spent in-game obtaining them. But you know all of this already, so it’s pointless that I continue.
The only reason the devs and customer support are swamped right now is because they LISTENED to the community and implemented many, complicated far reaching yet awesome changes that take time to handle and properly adjust – based on constructive feedback – satisfactorily, often going customer by customer
Who requested that that all of the town clothes be turned into tonics? O_o
Wait, what? That example is not even mentioned by the OP. And I didn’t say they implemented everything the community wanted (which btw is impossible as the community is usual split) but many of the things the community wanted. Sure there will be things that they could have handled differently had they had infinite resources and the power of hindsight, but that’s not reasonable to expect from any gaming company that is trying to serve a massive playerbase.
My point was that the “I want answers to questions now (what is the question anyway???)” is not reasonable given the need for them to process massive feedback on massive structural changes to about every part of the game. The server infrastructure, PvP tracks and the resulting influx there of new players, far reaching balance changes + sigil and rune changes, a whole new wardrobe system (and resulting refund requests which are admirably handled one by one), changes to WvW ranks and lots of other stuff.
I therefore think that the timing of this topic is unreasonable and misplaced.
(edited by Buttercup.5871)
OK. So on the one hand, the playerbase says “create new content we want it noaaaaaaaaawwwww!” and on the other hand the playerbase says “We don’t want new content! We first want you to rework and improve the old content before you move to any new content!”
So they implemented a TON of new features, did a ton of balance changes, completely modified their entire server infrastructure and shook the s/tPvP world upside down. They did this mostly as a result of, and I want to stress this, what they playerbase have ASKED them to do.
Right now, customer support is swamped in dealing with individualized requests for return requests for double or triple gemstore purchases – which they ALLOW and creates a ton of work. For their part, the devs are up till their ears in work reading all the feedback on the new wardrobe, balance changes, the change to their complete server infrastructure and the entirely new PvP reward track system which created a huge influx of players into PvP and, as a result, will have led to a ton of feedback and player reports (the old PvP community was slightly toxic).
The OP’s post steps over the bigger picture a bit too easily to my taste. I do not think it’s fair to complain at this point. If nothing has happened with the LS months from now, you can raise this issue again, but we all know there will be a ton of new content by then.
Thats a reasonable amount of gold to start playing the tp. Within a week or 2 you can get to 500g by focusing on tp.
For now, ask an ele to conjure volcanus
For someone who never played the tp before, 1 or 2 weeks to make 500g out of 100g is pretty optimistic. Usually, after the first week, you are happy, if you still have your initial 100g…
This. There’s lots to learn at first.
I have al backpieces and I very often wear none. They’re overrated. They received too much focus already, let them focus on other armor now.
Or it’s like Americans and Europeans both playing European soccer.
Or what about Dutch speed skaters at the Olympics against, well, any other country in the world.
You don’t know which sport you can compare this to until you try. EU vs NA would be a blast in any event.
TCG may have player better, but the characters of 55HP most definitely had better looks.
Gz guys very well played!
Looks like you and the other player are trying to circumvent the gold/gems and gems/gold ratio, which I think should be allowed.
I see it similar to circumventing the TP tax by mail-trading. Risky, as there is no support if it goes wrong, but allowed.
