Precursor Inflation?

Buttercup.5871

As pointed out in other threads, changes to the MF was mentioned in the patch notes.

Some Mystic Forge recipes have been updated to provide a wider range of results.

All Mystic Forge recipes for crafting PvP items have been removed along with PvP crafting materials.

PvP items and mats may have been removed from forge recipes but they are tradeable now. Hooray for those that didnt keep them in the pvp locker, when the patch went live.

Wanze, c’mon. That’s technically an exploit. You knowingly sold an unusable item that you knew should have been removed from the game. No sympathy from me, sorry. I find it similar to buying vendor items that can’t be salvaged and selling them on the TP to unsuspecting buyers.

Every tip you give me translates into less time I spend fumbling around the TP and websites and more time in the lab, saving babies and hot women from bad, bad germs.

5 laurels is a lot though. I’m in 2 minds about this. I think it will be insanely easy, in 4 months from now, to manipulate parts of the dye market because of the laurel requirement. Other than that it will cost 3g to 4g to make an unidentied dye yourself. But you’re right we’ll have to burn through millions of unid’s to get there. I myself didn’t buy many of those, but bought 27k common dyes instead. A bit like with gossamer: when everyone said “buy gossamer!” I bought linen, silk, wool and cotton instead.

Gem store items and gold

Buttercup.5871

The rules of conduct is not exhaustive. The user agreement has additional clauses on this. What I think it comes down to is that the reason for which you sell, and the buyer buys the item, determines whether it’s legit. I’ll copy some of the relevant clauses:

4. ACCOUNT AND PAYMENTS TO NCSOFT

4 (e) Other payments related to the Game — You acknowledge that NCSOFT has no responsibility with respect to any payments or “donations” related to the Game that You make to any third-party. For example, such payments could be with respect to information, services, or an Item offered or provided by any third-party. You further acknowledge that attempting to make, or making, such payments or “donations” may also fall within the provisions of Section 8 below.

8. PROHIBITED AND IRREPARABLY HARMFUL ACTIVITIES CONCERNING NCSOFT
You acknowledge that You may not, without signed written consent from a legally authorized representative of NCSOFT, do any of the following:

[…] f. Engage in any activity prohibited under Section 2(f) above;

2. LIMITED LICENSE — SERVICE, CONTENT AND SOFTWARE LICENSED NOT SOLD

2. f. Additional License Restrictions — You acknowledge You will not directly or indirectly:

(iv) sell, sub-license, rent, lease, grant a security interest in, borrow, lend, loan, network or engage in any activity that could in any way transfer or provide others access to any Service, Content, Software, or parts thereof, including but not limited to any serial code number, access key or the like.

So, if the person to whom you gift does not have access to the gemstore on purpose, for example the person has a version of the game for free but has to pay in order to gain access to the gemstore and other related content, then you are toast if they find out you circumvented this through a gifting construction.

Other than that, I would stay far, far away from indirectly selling gems if I were you. There’s business interests involved in that, retailers that sell gems probably pay a commission to Anet for being allowed to do so.

Please rethink the whole reward system

All that is missing is merit-based rewards for difficult solo-content. That is all. The only good example of this was Liadri. Hardcore difficulty (on a ranger, at least), and a non-sellable cool reward only awarded by overcoming the challenge.

Why we hear nothing but Silence from ANet?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Buttercup.5871

Buttercup.5871

OP, you have no idea what real silence means. We are far from that situation. The only reason the devs and customer support are swamped right now is because they LISTENED to the community and implemented many, complicated far reaching yet awesome changes that take time to handle and properly adjust – based on constructive feedback – satisfactorily, often going customer by customer (duplicate gemstore items as a result of the wardrobe, for instance takes seas of time).

This thread is wrong. Just wrong.

Bugged sigil of Bloodlust

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Buttercup.5871

Buttercup.5871

There is a bigger bug with bloodlust than that. If you equip underwater weapons with a bloodlust sigil you won’t lose the stacks at all. So you can build a bloodlust stack (on land), unequip the weapon (still on land), and not lose the bloodlust stack in the process. Effectively, it means you can have the benefit of 2 sigils at the same time, just like it functioned before the update.

Sigil of force went down 50% in price?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Buttercup.5871

Buttercup.5871

Curiously, Superior Sigil of Bloodlust also fell in price around the same time.

Because they nerfed stacking sigils. Many are not using them in our newest builds.

The answer is in the same reddit link: people started crafting mystic axes.

Regarding the nerf: I tried Nike’s warrior build + suggested gear posted on GW2 Guru on my new warrior a week ago (I had all classes at 80 except a warrior), and the gear included underwater weapons with a bloodlust sigil. I was puzzled with the underwater weapon choice, and it wasn’t explained in the post. So I tried it. It turns out that if you have an underwater weapon equipped with a bloodlust sigil, you don’t lose your stack on land when switching your normal (non-underwater) bloodlust weapons. I’m assuming this is a bug, but found out many people have posted about this since the patch went live. So it could be a bug gone mainstream, so to say.

Ascended accessories are out of reach if you don’t want to be in a guild and have 9+ characters.

Totally not true! I got quite a lot of accessories from WvW (even EotM) and PvE temple events. It’s just a matter of how much you play (and I do not play 24/7). In fact only 1 of my characters has accessories bought for laurels/guild comms, 2 others have full sets from other sources.

Please read the sentence you quoted again, and zoom in on the underlined word.
Ascended accessories can be acquired in two ways:

- Guild missions (guild commendations and random drop guild weekly chest); and
- Spending 40 laurels + 50 globs of ecto.

That’s it. There aren’t more flavors than that.

Plenty of people want dyes but don’t have the will or coin to buy it now (while they should). Supply will simply dry up over time. People are forging dyes (for profit) which slowly but surely will help to evaporate the overall supply. If the price of rare dyes goes up, so will the price of masterwork dyes (forging masterwork dyes—> rare). Which drives up the price of common dyes (forging common dyes —> masterwork). Prices will eventually stabilize at the price it takes to craft them through cooking (which means 10-20 silver for a common dye) or the gemstore dye packs.

I think the real profit – on a short term – is in identified dyes, not unidentified dyes. Once rare dyes reach their intended astronomical levels, people will start buying unidentified dyes for profit, drying up that supply. I’d say that should start happening in about 4 months from now.

Mystic Forge Stones

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Buttercup.5871

Buttercup.5871

Actually, the OP isn’t about using the stones for item substitution.

Its about the use of the stones to make Mystic Salvage Kits. I do, also, agree with them.

I know that Anet isn’t directly in charge of the exchange rates of gems/gold, but at the current rates, which are actually pretty stable in general, this does make this an extremely expensive item for the forging of the MSK. The MSK already requires the purchase of the equivalent of 75 salvages, via the three highest level salvage kits, and then the use of the forgestone is what makes it sensical to get the 250.

I believe that it would probably be better to use something like Crystals/Philosopher’s Stones or something along that line, something you can puchase for skill points or some other kind of reward, to make these kits.

The Mystic Salvage kit is one of the greatest items in the game, imho, and is far better than any other kit, price wise even better than the Black Lion Salvage kit, though not stat wise.

In truth, however, even the BLSK requires 300 gems for 25 charges, thus making it cost about 24-30 g per kit. From this stand point the MSK seems practically a steal, however the MSK is a more common usage, having the lower return stats and all. Its whole purpose is to be used as a kind of 10 master kits in one, but the cost for that bag convenience is far outstripped by the price point.

So yeah….it would be nice to either change the reciepe, or lower the cost of the forge stones…..I’m thinking changing the reciepe would be better.

Nope, I think I read the OP’s post quite well, I’m just not saying what you – or he/she – wants to hear. Ultimately, the OP is talking about the value of the stones in gold; so was I. The value is a lot higher if you don’t use them to craft mystic salvage kits.

It’s like arguing that destroyer lodestones should be way cheaper on the TP because you want to use them to craft runes of the engineer.

The person you’re ressing likely did a lot more damage than you and – when ressed – will get better loot because his damage contribution is higher.

Sometimes the items I give are worth a lot, sometimes not. Mostly they were ascended mats, exotic inscriptions, silk etc to help people leveling to 500. Or weapons and armor while levelling. Occasionally I gifted a crafting booster or something similar to those that needed it at the time. Sometimes I told someone about a goldmine on the TP and withdrew from that market completely to give him/her full room. I once let my guild search for me in LA and the winner got a Pyre dye.
In any event, I only give because I enjoy it, not because I think I should.

Are you even aware of the amount of posts John Smith, Anets economist, has spent on this to solidly show the community that a nerf like this would be in the patch notes if it was implemented?

Don’t buy into it. If you do, know that there are people that lie in both camps, i.e. precursor sellers and t5 + rare weapon crafters. Don’t trust what you read, only trust uninterrupted hour-long videos of forging that show you everything.

If you have a clothy and want ascended gear, you can usually only get one stat combo. After that, 35 bolts of damask later, you’re broke. 35 bolts of damask costs about 350 gold and 35 days to craft. And that’s just the cost of the damask.

If you want it quicker you’ll pay 490 gold for just the damask.

PvP Cultural Armor/Emperor Title (Answered!)

I just checked in-game: it’s soulbound on acquire
That said I think Anet should implement that skinning the armor piece should count towards the achievement. I don’t have PvP cultural armor but I don’t want people that did go through considerable trouble in PvP to get cultural armor to have to go through pointless grinding -again – just to get this title. They earned the skin. So they earned the title.

2,700 is about the sample size they do for phone polls (accuracy of plus or minus 2%), whereas with my sample size I am guessing that there is still a good chance that I would only get one of something that has a 5% chance of dropping (it’s been too long since I did my second year statistics course so I’m going from my vague memory). However given it is the only data that is available to me and I know that it was done systematically it is what I went with.

Indeed. You would be though if you placed your new buy offer and removed your old buy offer at the same time. Some of them are that easy to spot. Others are have “smarter” behavior now and have been programmed to include a fixed amount of seconds between removing the old buy offer and placing the new buy offer.

But anyway, the point is moot. Programmers have stated on this forum how easy it is to create these scripts. The behavior just continues and becomes more widespread; the only reason the forum isn’t filled with it is that we’re not allowed to talk about it anymore in detail.

PvP Cultural Armor/Emperor Title (Answered!)

in PvP

Posted by: Buttercup.5871

Buttercup.5871

My first reaction was yes, this is absolutely logical. But then I read the description: “Soulbind 90 unique pieces of cultural armor.” Which looks to me like that title was designed for only one grand purpose – a fantastic gold sink. This is why it was not already implemented for PvP, and why the PvP skins do not become “items” after the patch but skins that can be applied to items. One crystal is still less expensive than t3 armor though, so I’d say buy the t1 and t2 pieces and use your free charges (80 charges if your new rank is 80) to get the t3 unlocks for the emperor title. It would, however, make no sense whatsoever if you had to buy a t3 skin you already own just to get the title.

Dev clarification would be nice!

That said this is the best thing that happened to PvP since PvP. Don’t worry about the carrot on the end of the stick, there will be other, better tasting carrots. Which due to the influx of players you’ll be able to enjoy all day long rather than every 30 minutes that your queue decides to pop (which was likely a 4 vs 5 match anyway against a group of confused deer-ranked players).

I’m also hoping they can introduce a dragon bracket now, rank 50-80 shouldn’t be pitted against rank 30 in the first place. There’s a huge difference in PvP time played.
