Do you remember the mass banning for that? there were cries of rage because Anet banned this players and only let them back in once they destroyed their ill gotten winnings.
Except even knowing the odds people still gamble. Everybody knows that the house always wins yet casinos are always full.
You are thinking correctly but your math/formula is off.
See after you sell the item you have a 10% sell tax deducted from the transaction, so your formula should be:
22 -[(5%22)+(10%22)]= 18.7 (rounded up to 19 or a 1 copper loss than selling from vendor )
Next time just replace 22 with the value you want to sell and you can decide better
You can buy dyes from the TP (identified ones) My guildmate sold his black dye yesterday can’t remember how much he got though.
So… buy away.
(if you still wnat to use gems then do what Anet wnats and exchange gems for gold)
Huh… I have thought this too, in GW there was no armor drop just stuff to salvage or sell. I kinda came to a similar conclusion. I mean even now I mostly salvage everything I have and make armor for my low level toons as they progress. The stuff I craft is a lot better that what I find.
I’ve bought lottery tickets every week for 5 years, still no grand prize.
/shrug
Complaing about not getting free items when they never promise you would it sad too.
This is a really dumb concern, why on earth does anyone care if they can’t understand what other people are saying?
I do use english on chat but not becasue its “polite” (if you think this you are being racist, you just don’t know it) I do it simply becasue I get to practice it.
You guys must really hate airports then what with all those freaky foreigners talking in exotics tongues.
NA servers speak english (lets not argue semantics the majority speak english and 2 largest governments run in english) So naturally when in NA servers I expect to see english. I don’t care if other nationalities join the servers. bothers me not one bit. But when they speak in something other than english they must realize that most people cannot understand what they are saying.
Why would you go to a server where most people cannot understand you? Dosen’t make sense to me. If I went to a polish server and couldn’t understand them or they couldn’t understand me… it would ruin my game expirence. Talk about fustration.
Becasue SA have to Join “NA” servers there are no Spanish or portuguese servers on this side.
Token should be account bound.
That being said, I think a toon needs to have completed all paths of a dungeon at least once to earn the “right” to exchange those tokens for the armor. Like in GW:EN you needed a certain rep with the races to get their armor.
Variety is fun doing, the same dungeon with the same toon gets boring ( and yes I know some may like it, good for them they can still do it, but the rest have a choice now)
“X The Manimal.5293:
Last night I saw a level 5 with that Flame Tower (or whatever its called) armor. Not guna lie, I was extremely jealous and felt he should have EARNED the armor on that specific character. "
I don’t have any dungeons armor piece yet so please tell me. Do they not come with a level cap? or are they given at the level ot the toons that buys it?
My level 15 warrior can’t use any of the loot my Lvl 80 necro has found. I don’t think Anet would made that oversight for dungeon armor.
“The biggest problem here is the absurdly HUGE FEE that Anet takes for gold<?gem transactions. There’s an almost 40% difference between the gem buy and sell prices!
This is one thing Anet could do, remove the obscene spread and let it be a real player-run market.”
The Spread is there to avoid creating and infinite loop of gold. The spread is not the problem (its just another gold sink), its gold scarcity as soon as gold becomes more accesible then gems will become more valuable than gold.
“Yep, yawg is spot on. That plus the listing fee and 10/15% (forget how much) cut they take on in-game TP transactions… it’s keeping the poor poor =)”
The TP fee + TP tax is just a gold sink, again this makes gold more scarce so Anet can keep gold more valuable and profit more from the gold selling.
Let’s call it the Farmville model:
You want your barn built (in GW is cultural armor) so you log in daily to water your crops, gather vegetables, etc to get those points (can’t remember what they give you) to get the barn (in GW you kill mobs, do events, etc to get gold for the armor). By purposefully keeping the progression slow (scarce gold in GW) Farmville gives you the incentive to just pay to get that barn built today (in GW exchange gems for gold to buy that armor).
Now again this is not judgamental is just a business model same as all those F2P games out there. Thankfully GW2 is a little more ethical and all those items that you want are purely comestic so it doesn’t hinder you ability to play just your ability to feel “unique” and to rush toguh content, if at any moment the scarcity of gold prevents you from playing then it becomes a problem.
It was always 50%, reported by many players doing tests.
You feel scammed? It would be a scam if it displayed a HIGHER than actual value, but it showed a lower one so nobody was tricked into buying it for that value.
Agreed, Scamming works by getting you to buy stuff with deceit not by not making you buy stuff.
It will be added, we had it in GW1.
The cheapest one let you change everything but sex. The expensive one let you change sex too.
Just be patient.
Wait a bit. As gold enters the market, the exchange rate will become more favorable for gold-buyers.
yes and no.
As more gold enters, more people will afford to buy gems (and less people will be inclined to exchange gems for gold).
So lets say that right now you have the following rates:
10s =1 gem (buying gems with gold)
1 gems = 5s (selling gold for gems)
If suddenly there was a influx in gold then gold becomes less valuable (while gems appreciate).
50s = 1 gem (buying gems with gold)
1 gems= 25s (selling gold for gems)
Now this is a very simplistic way of looking at it there are many other factors into play. The point being that because the gold is scarce there is an incentive to exchange gems for gold, bringing the rate down while Anet reaps the profits of all the sanctioned gold selling.
Should the average player care? not really the cosmetic upgrades (cultural armor for example) are just that… cosmetic.
Its only bad when it affects the ability to play the game (like if you are broke and can’t repair your armor) hopefully it will never come to that.
To quote the Norn when you start a new toon.
“think of the glory”
Not sure what you want out a competition? the reward of competing is, well winning and recognition. If they haven’t implemented leader boards, titles, achievements, etc then hopefully Anet will do that asap.
Now I assume you enjoy PvP (in any game) if not then I don’t understand why you would ask this in the first place.
Yes, but Anet is in charge of the gold flow in game, by keeping it scarce they give players the incentive to trade gems for gold.
While the exchange rate is given by supply and demand (and remember we are taking this on faith no one is regulating Anet to stay true to the system) by keeping gold scarce it becomes more valuable than gems. Since Anet is a gold seller (again indirectly) they profit more this way.
This is not judgmental, its just a fact.
Will you toon be “darker” no, unless you role play with you guild or something.
I do give my toons my own “personality traits” when I create them just to add some flavor…. like my Silvary thief joining the Priory because “with this whole war against Zhaitan thye might not miss 1 or 2 magical items that slip in my bag by mistake…” but in the end Pesonal Story is about you being a hero.
About he game being Darker I do suggest Silvary even more than Charr, seriosly those plants are ruthless but in a disturbing way becasue they don’t seem to know that they are being ruthless. Like ordering to cut the head of a Nightmare court bad guy and putting it on stake to warn other Silvary about joining the Nightmare court… I did not expect that (no images it was just a voice over).
@OP : Because they figured they could sell dyes in their cash shop.
Making Money > Catering to PlayersThis guy got the right answer.
Except you can craft dyes via cooking (free) and even better you can buy the dye you want from the TP (still free) or buy a unidentified dye from the TP (free also).
I don’t see a problems with dyes as they are now.
BEST NEWS EVER!
Account bound tokens FTW now I’m back to wanting to do all dungeons.
Yes, they can do something, but they wont since they are making a lot of money by keeping gold scarce and selling gems for gold (albeit indirectly).
T-stones add up quick until you start working with level 80 gear. At that point you have to use Fine T-stones, which I have HEARD may come off some maps but i have only ever got the basic ones personally.
Another thing to remember when working with stones at 80, if you buy say, T2 culture gear but have runes etc on your 79 and below gear you want on your 80 stuff, blow a basic stone to merge these FIRST so that you then only have to use ONE fine T-stone to get the look and the rune on your 80 gear.
Yes, I was talking about level 80 “fine t stones” I myself have 5 Fine TS can’t remember if they came from a map completion or from a black lion chest.
Again If I’m buying a skin then I want to re apply it as I see fit . I’m Ok with it being locked for 1 toon only but the current format is kind of a slap in the face.
Trans stones should only be used if I find a rare skin via a drop/dungeon and want to use it with different stats, not for stuff I’m already paying for.
Well you can move away from the blast radius no need to dogde them… at least that is what I do.
Kinda late since discussion went in another way.but to the OP: GW2 is nos F2P is B2P with a cash shop.
A pain to play in.
I like to feel the odds against me, makes it more cool to overcome… but one thing is making it more challenging and another is making it annoying. fighting the same mob over and over again because of spawn rate and large health pools.
I’m having more fun playing with my low levels toons. Hope that by the time I hit 80 on all of them Orr has been changed into a fun place to beat.
I do suggest to not get hunged up on Orr, beat PS and start another toon I’m sure Anet will realize and address some of the balancing.
While I’m always for more change, Capping skills will only hurt the game.
Many of the trait lines already “change” some skills to add variety. (necro’s wells being ground targeted instead of placed around you", etc)
Adding more skills right now would just aggravate the balancing issues with the current setup.
I’d much rather have them work on new professions for an expansion and wait a year for it, or to add a “specialization” for your current toons.. say a “berserker warrior” with new skills that favor power over vitality, and once you learn this path you can’t learn the skills from a “Cheerleading warrior” (you know a lot of buffs via shouts and banners)
So uh, -1 on all and +1 on wait for an expansion.
If the OP doesn’t like the game then, he/she doesn’t. I don’t like soccer games even teh “best” ones … its just not my cup of tea.
I would suggest the OP to ask any of his/her friends/relatives/random passerby it they would like to have his account so at least someone can benefit from his purchase and be done with it.
I believe OP is referring to the scarcity of gold not to the shop items themselves.
The economy is so tightly controlled because of the gold/gem exchange that its somewhat stressful to play the game. The problem being that if too much gold flows into the economy then Anet can’t make money from the cash shop (everyone would just convert gold for gems).
I don’t mind paying RM for some of the items (in fact I have 3 extras toons and 5 bank slots))but I will not exchange gems for gold because the reason to do it is artificial (all the gold sinks, and difficulty in getting gold, unless you play as a trader in the TP, which is not the reason I play GW for).
Gold sinks are a necessary evil, this is true, but If I start to feel that in order to play the game I need to get gold first then its not a game anymore… its a job. As long as the gold sinks don’t interfere with the ability to play the game then I don’t mind. Running around naked because I can’t afford repairs is one way of not letting me play if I’m broke,.
I know this is the most unpopular, most hated opinion of all but I feel that gold wouldn’t be so hard to come by if there was no gem/gold exchange.
And yes, I know “its to prevent the gold sellers”… except the biggest gold seller of them all is currently Anet, and they also control the gold influx so it’s kind of unfair…
Dreamers are hardcore too, btw.
Seriously cutting off your enemy’s head and putting it on a stake (game of thrones style) to serve as warning on the fate of those that join the nightmare… Not exactly nice either.
I do think that NC are corrupted Silvary, but I don’t think that Silvary can’t be “bad” if they do not join the NC.
Could it be linked to the amount of gems being bought in a short time frame?
I have Paypal (with credit card) and I’m from South America (sometimes country is an issue). I’ve bought $60 (total) in gems at different times and amounts and haven’t had a problem yet.
The item not account based, its “account bound”. Meaning that when you buy it, you can use it only on toons in your account. (this is what “account bound” stands for).
The number of uses is a different deal. Skins only have 1 use, so only 1 toon of your account can use it.
I’m guessing you are going to hate it even more when yo notice that if you want to re apply the skin to a new armor piece (say when you outgrow you current armor) you will need to use transmutation stones (also for sale on the TP!) to re use the skin that you bought…
Skins are a really bad deal in GW2, don’t buy them.
I don’t mind the whole 1 skin per toon, but paying more to re apply the skins is just wrong. When skins work like the HoM rewards, then I will shut up and Anet can have (more of) my money
Yes.
There is a 5% fee for posting an item. non refundable.
There is a 10% tax on fulfilled sales .
The Dungeons are Not Difficult - They are Mechanically Flawed - Here's Why...
Posted by: Cancer.9065
I hope they bring bag Easy and Hard mode for dungeons. That way casuals and hardcore can enjoy dungeons (obviously casual should have low rewards) at their proper level.
Necro 80 9/10
Engineer 28 5/10
Warrior 15 10/10
Ranger 15 9/10
Ele 15 7/10
Edit Just notice that it was a 1/10 overall and not about each class. Overall I guess 7/10
+1 on WvW not being part of the map completion achievement and I do play WvW at least for monthly achievements, mostly on slow days).
I have about 35%. Getting groups together is not really that useful as many love to grief on this spots (especially SP) in large groups too,.
Also taking up spots in WvW from players that have a better chance of getting me Bonuses… not cool., at least when I’m there I buy a few arrow carts to help the war effort, don’t think many pve’rs do this.
BTW there is this achivement, with the title “golden” for 200g (I’m guessing thats kinda low for sharks)
http://www.gw2db.com/achievements/10-gold-hoarder
So start there, Anet has a history of incorporating titles and rewards after players start doing stuff.
In GW1 it was vanquishing, people started clearing instances of all enemies just for the heck of it, now its an achiviment to do it and comes with a title to display.
The best so far is someone calling his female charr a bad—- and coming out badkitten.
So full of win!
if you truly feel like there is nothing to do at level 80, absolutley nothing at all, then dont play it anymore just wait for the expasion to come out and revisit Tyria…. You know just like all those other $60 games that last for “x” hours and then you put down a wait for the sequel or DLC.
I have one level 80 necro, not even with exotics so that still on the list, map exploration is about 45%, most compelte toon is 50% huh guess I’m missing a lot… but since I kinda want to taste something different I started a ranger, different playstyle and differente race.
Guess what I’m doing get that toon gets level 80? If I get bored then I’ll stop and play something else… Im already 160 hours in so I think I have my moneys worth.
Farm some events (not the same one though diff one) in you zone level and you will be done in a couple of hours.
Why are we allowed to cut down ancient wood? I believe in the right of this ancient trees to not be butchered by the wood industry.
We need to protest in front of this ancient trees to stop this! Who is with me!
As long you submitted the bug report then you shouldn’t have a problem.
Adding this check tool will just encourage people to discriminate against new players.
“You dont have a berserker rare set? next”
That’s clearly not botting — they give us autofire. You don’t even have to tape down a key on your standard keyboard, let alone do anything with macros or bots to stand afk where an event spawns.
There’s nothing in the TOS to say you can’t use the built-in ctrl-right click in the interface, there’s nothing in the TOS that says you can’t farm the same event all day at work.
However, it seems to reallykitten off other players. So you’ll get a lot of report on yourself if you do it, make a bad name for you/your guild.
Why’s it make people so angry?
Becasue the event gets thougher the more people are in the event. One toon spamming autoattack does not contribute enough to make up for extra mobs. In large zergs this isn’t an issue but when an event has 5 people and 3 are AFK then the event is impossible.
I do agree that isn’t botting though, botting is using scripts to make the toon do stuff atumatically like moving around, get loot, etc. being AFK does not acomplish this.
That being said Anet doesn’t not look kindly to AFK’ers in events either so report away.
If you are sure you didn’t get charged for 2 slots (bugs are everywhere) then you should have received only one.
I would tell you to keep mum about it and enjoy your free slot, but Anet is being very trollish regarding their own mistakes and will prob ban you if they discover it.
If horses were in the game we would have countless players asking why they can’t have mounts.
Anet: “There are no mounts planned in GW2”
Player: “But I see horses all over the place, why can’t i ride them?!”
Well I see Moas all over the place… Why can’t i get my FF freak one and ride them?
Yes and no.
I see your point, but remember that not all flame legion are magic users, just the shamans. Since magic doesn’t equal flame legion this shouldn’t come as an issue within your warband.
Are these for Arah story mode or for the last mission in Personal Story?
I finished the Arah Story mode dungeon and only got blues and 1 green from chests and the funniest thing ever I got a “gold bag” so I oponened excitedly …. and got 4c.
Not sure what bags is everyone talking about.
Haven’t finished PS though.
Does anyone know if you can get the back items from guild merchants? something about being able to get them with your guild logo on it or something like that. Or is it just a skin?
Rangers use spirits, granted their are “nature” spirits but that doesn´t mean the art couldn’t have evolved into binding only nature spirits especially if you consider all those ascalonians tortured spirits.
Yes and no.
Charr are not the enemy of men, especifically, but of Ascalonians who they see as invaders (Ascalon being Charr land originally). Logan’s ancestor (Gwen) for example was Ascalonian and she hated Charr so much it was borderline psycothic.
The current humans are mostly Krytans with Ascalonians refugees descendants in the mix (Most lived in Ebonhawke).
They were fighting the Charr to reclaim Ascalon again but wasn’t really the biggest priority for Krytans and they mostly provided economic/weapons/food support than soldiers.
