Downscaling is great. I still feel overpowered in low level zones but at least there is some risk.

To get to 80 its not too hard. To be competitive/dungeon ready at 80 its another thing.

I used a build focused on wells and leveled pretty fast, specially in the big chains since a well positioned well tags lots of mobs. When soloing I went out of my way to lure 3-5 mobs then apply wells and killed them all at the same time, move to the next area.

One on one, yeah its a chore.

Guardians seemed to be really good for casual play, leveling stays consistent… warriors leveling plateaus a bit after 60 (in my experience/opinion). My thief is still level 15 but I kinda died a lot… of course not much experience with the class so can’t really tell how it will turn out.

Try heavy armored its a bit refreshing not worrying about dodging that much.

Well technically they can do that right now, all the skins are available in the TP so one could argue that buying gems, converting to gold then buying the skins its the same thing.

90% of the times its because your in game inbox is full

You can only receive 10 emails, try checking the inbox, erase all emails from other players (spam mails count too). then log off and log on and you should get them (though it may take a while).

If you don’t have a full mail box then its a bug.

I meant “armor skins” I don’t buy armor skins because they are 1 use only, after that its trans stones, which is fine for your “final” look but for gemshop armor skins… would prefer something akin to GW1 system so I can switch around without the cumbersome system of trans stones (again only for gem shop skins for regular armor the trans stones are fine)

I’m fine with how costumes are… got 2 already… would be awesome if Anet make a collectible tab for costumes… I already have max bank tabs and have no space for more stuff.. had to destroy part of my towns clothes = / so stopped at two costumes.

So my suggestions Mr. Smalling: if possible consider

1. – Armor skins to work like HoM rewards or better yet just as a “layer” over regular armor that could be turn on/off… would buy those skins in a heartbeat, pretty sure many will.

2.- And consider a costumes collectible tab! it will probably spark a “collect them all” fever that will improve sales and will not punish those who buy them with $$$ and lose inventory space.

You are right @NinjaKnight that merely writing about a stock wont get you into trouble (otherwise all financial newsletter would be illegal) but the Pump and Dump scam requires 3 very defined steps:

1. buying tons of penny stock (in this case cheap mats)
2. start rumors and speculations with the INTENT of pumping the price of said stocks/mats (most used method today is spamming)0
3. selling the penny stocks (or cheap mats) before the markets crashes.

The actions by themselves do not constitute a crime, its the intention of the scammer that gets him punished. Like I said many rumor threads are started with the sole intention of pumping the price to sell.

Anyway no need to argue, like is said in the post you quoted, I do not think this should be policed in game, nor punished. Simply getting the information out there is enough IMO.

@ NinjaKnight IRL Pump and Dump its labeled as a scam and its punishable with jail under US law and they work the same way as in the game.

Now do I think it should be policed in game or punished? not really its a game after all and is something very easy to avoid. Just getting the information out there tends to help a bit.

I understand that not everyone that participates in the bubble are “scamming” many simply get lucky and go for the ride. Others though are malicious about it. I called a Pump and Dump for tonics and got a PM asking me to take down my post by the OP, who basically confessed to the pump and dump scheme.

I don’t mind Soulbound costumes. Its the 1 use only that discourages me from buying.

What is wrong with Anet rewarding high level players with content when they have worked hard and supported the game from the beginning.

Iv supported this game from the beginning, I bought the art of guild wars 2 book when it was released YEARS ago.

I prepurchased the game and have have 2 lvl 80 characters and a lvl 65.

I dont think its wrong for people like me to benifit from these events more than others because we have worked harder and prepared.

I dont think its wrong for me to want to be rewarded for my support and hard work over people who just bought the game a week ago and now want all this high end content for free.

I bought over 2000 gems for this event with gold that I earned through legitimate means. Let me benifit form that please.

Its always easier for the people that started earlier since we have more knowledge of terms and zones and of NPCs and it seems that candy will be “gathered” in regular zones… who do you think will have it easier? downscaled toons decked in exotics or upscaled toons with starter armor? who has WP and maps uncovered? I’m sure we will take more advantage of the holiday.

Why should I invest my PvE money into a system that gives me and my server no rewards for being top dog by the end of the week?

Winning servers get bonuses to crafting, ghathering, endurance, etc, etc or did you meant something else?

Anet said that the gem/gold market is based on players, everyone assumed this meant a “free market”.

Its pretty obvious this is not the case, but its also not a lie by Anet ( and its not a bad thing).

I would venture that Anet established their own “Gem Reserve” ( a sort of Federal Reserve or Central Bank depending on where you live you will be familiar with one or the other).

Now in this “Gem Reserve” Anet started out with X number of gems and set a starting price for buying gold with gems and a selling price for gems to gold.

So as more players demand gems Anet has to adjust the buying price higher so that their “Gem Reserve” does not deplete. At the same time Anets “buys back” gems with gold (or sells gold as we perceive it) from players to re stock their “Gem Reserve” and stabilize the price.

a good tip is always go to zones that are your level or a bit over your level. World completion is good and gives money and rewards but makes leveling take a long time.

Also change habitats as you get more exp killing things that you don’t normally kill. So one day level in a level 30 norn zone and the switch to a level 40 charr zone..

@Stevie yeah I saw some of your posts… some so obvious that I facepalm when people went for it but truth be told better they learn in a game that IRL.

I’m sure you already know that even with this post people will still fall for the next bubble. I’m actually starting a betting pool on what will get pumped for Wintersday.

If the event says “group event” then yes its not soloable (or if it is, its far too tedious)

If its a DE it can be soloable if you play decent enough… do learn to take some losses in some events…

Ffor instance if its keep X npc alive defend one or two npcs leave the rest to die, you will beat the DE.

If its a veteran, learn your interrupts (blind, daze, stun) and dodge the big hits only.

If its a retake X place remember to pull, never rush into things.

I’ve had trouble with DE only when there is people AFK nearby (or really inexperienced players) which do make the events impossible as its scaled to more people while only 1 doing the work…

Pretty sure op means that we should only get 1 rez after that game over…. probably talking about sPvP or perhaps dungeons…

Guys, seriously its not about whether the cash shop is good or bad or whether we should support Anet (though its kinda laughable to read about supporting Anet next to “just buy gems with gold”… how will that support Anet???). I’ve run out of bank tabs to buy and I’ve never converted gold to gems or viceversa.

The reason some are worried is that the holiday skins are added as a gamble instead of a direct purchase which is a worrying trend.

I have suggested in the past that the chest SHOULD drop unique skins like BLTC branded armor/weapons even town clothes (I want to wear a monocle when I’m playing the TP!) to entice more people to buy keys, but holiday items are different they are part of the festival… part of the experience…. part of the game.

Anyway its not game breaking so nobody is looking for a screaming match here… its simply a couple of voices of concern hoping that this “gambling” tendency doesn’t keep permeating every part of the game… some of us are very risk averse or have had terrible experiences with gambling that make stuff like this off putting.

You are right that if each gem gives more silver, then players will have a better incentive to exchange them for gold. But its not the spread that needs to change (though a reduction would be nice), simply both rates (buying and selling) need to go up.

The downside would be that buying gems with gold becomes prohibitive.

Its true, there might be a recipe added or not.

Its not wrong to buy something that you “think” will rise in price or that may become useful in the future and make a profit. The problem is letting others decide it for you. If you have done your research or simply have a gut feeling that x item will rise in price then by all means buy low and sell high.

Just beware when other players come to the forums talking about huge profits to be made if you buy x item as they may have other intentions.

Before they are “born” Silvary share a hive mind dream. While no details are retained they “know” things like speaking, reading, etc from all the experiences of all the Silvary before them.

Most likely the quest will be released on the dates but the whole chain will probably be open during the entire holiday.

What does this mean in GW and how does it affect you?

Easy “Player F” buys tons of cheap mats/items lets say for arguments sake: Chests, Pumpkins, Cinnamon, Tonics :wink, wink: and then start rumors about huge profits or that they “might” be needed during an upcoming event and how he/she is glad that he/she bought them cheap.

As other players read this “advice” they start buying the same mats/items that “Player F” so helpfully recommended “pumping” the price up. At this point “player F” “dumps” all of his/hers items/mats making a profit while crashing the market of said items making everyone else that bought into the scam lose their gold.

As with anything else in life if something seem to good to be true, then its most likely a scam. Do you research first and don’t make rash decisions. Pump and Dump scams are very common both in game and IRL. Be smart about your gold/money.

I hate no autoloot in wvw as well. I have completed my wvw monthly kills and have looted a total number of 3 bags = / On big zergs I never see them or die before I can get them.

Only time I get bags are defending from sieges since I stay on walls.

If they did allow instance switching, it would be a nice way to look for non-bugged skill challenges and events as well.

But you know how that goes, as soon as they implemented it, people would start switching instances and farming the same crafting nodes and mobs in one area over and over.

What if they implement it for the cities only ?

Besides an easy way of adding “better gear” its to add new runes, sigils, etc with diff bonuses, etc that can “upgrade” your current set up (prob have to change build to maximize potential).

@ Ravrohan more recipes for skins in crafting would be nice. Not sure how many skins can be crafted atm but remember that not all recipes are sold by the craft smiths some recipes you get from karma vendor. Used to happen to me a lot, now I’m more efficient at killing mobs so it stopped being a problem.

Forgot to add that they could simply slash the price for the sPvP component only, they did this for GW1. Though right now they cost the same at some point the PvP access kit cost less than the full game.

I don’t see it as a good move personally. As it is someone who buys the game and only cares about sPvP won’t pay anything more than the price of the game, if you remove even that then it’s 100% pure loss for ANet.

They talked about “renting arenas” for teams to practice privately and cosmetic upgrades are but a few lines of code away.

free access to sPvP sounds interesting, but I think Anet sees it the other way. Make sPvP so “good” that people buy the game even if only interested in sPvP (like starcraft did)

Chances for more dwarves to be alive? I say good… but not sure about Elona or Cantha, there weren’t any dwarves there before.

See at the beginning of the game “Ascalon” was a beautiful place, the wall kept the Charr out and everything was green and luscious, then as part of the storyline “the searing” occurs and Ascalon was changed into a ravaged land (even worse than what it looks like now!) the thing is that yo didn’t need to advance the story if you didn’t want to, there is a whole title around people that reach max level while never triggering the searing.

Shorter that Woodenpotato’s summary? doubtful it could be done (BTW did you watched all of the videos? there is like 10 of them)

I believe its a different experience for everyone.

Yesterday I leveled my tailoring from 125 to 400 and crafted carrion exotics for my main. Total spent 6.5g – Cost of the exotic set from the TP about 8.5g.

I did, of course, have part of the mats for leveling, I would say about 70% of the leather/fiber scraps and 30% of fine mats and zero of the T6 mats + 12 ectos. Whatever I was missing I bought of the TP.

I could have sold all mats, buy the set and prob have leftover money (1-2 g) but now I have a max craft and an exotic set, so I think its worth, if you do it right. I did not follow any of the guides though as those seem to be maximized to cost as little as possible and not to help you make as much of your money back as possible.

I noticed this too (hasn’t happened yet but I know it will at some point) this was most likely an unintentional effect of a patch that made crafting directly from tabs possible instead from inventory only, as it was before.

A work around would be to put some ingredients on the inventory of an alt (the ingredients that have a higher level than what you can craft) so that your cook only has access to the ingredients that you need.
