Is there a way to restrict an item sale to a particular Player using the BLTC?
Posted by: Cancer.9065
it allows guild members an easy and secure way to sell items at reduced prices to fellows guild members.
If you are guild leader then I would simply ask for payment first then send the item via mail.
If you are a player consult with the guild leader if he can act as intermediary. both of you send the item & gold to him/her so that he/she verifies and re sends.
As others posters said if you do not trust the guild leader then you should look for a better guild. Guildmates on the other unless you know them for a while I understand why you would feel uneasy specially if one or both parties are new to the guild.

Completely different experience? Warriors… kinda liberating to… not dodge, kite, move so much all the time (my transition was from Necro to Warrior).
Thiefs have a “mana” type of gameplay (you need initiative to cast some weapons skills, which regenerates over time)
Engis are a multi class on themselves, kits completely change play style, from ranged grenadier to a melee “tool” user or support… gets kinda crazy.
Eles are very versatile too, each attunement (you have 4) changes your weapon skills to burst damage, support, conditions/control which make for interesting combos if you can master the switching.
Nothing add except that try looking for a relaxed guild to begin with, many guilds promote if they are into WvW, dungeons, PvE, etc, etc some are hardcore and will expect you to “carry your weight” others are more of “join guild activities if you want” so depending on the guild of you choosing your experience will vary.
So shop around… some signs of an organized guild are having a website, calendar of events (dungeons raids, parties, etc). Again since you are new I advise to join a relaxed guild, if in time you feel like you need a more hardcore group you can join a second guild.
That is what I did when I started GW1 about 5 months ago and join [ICBM] really helped to get all the HoM reward skins in time for GW2.
Wiki quote
Repair
Guild Wars 2 includes an armor repair system. Every time a character is defeated (after being downed and failing to rally) one piece of armor is damaged. Once all armor pieces are damaged, each subsequent defeat will break a piece of armor at random and the character will have to repair or replace it. Broken armor will offer no benefit to its wearer.1
Depends on what you are looking for.
If you want to craft your own gear as you level and not depend on luck for drops then craft your own gear, you will get experience that will level you faster (up to 10 lvls per maxed craft), the downside is that this route tends to be a bit more expensive/grindy.
If you feel like you don’t want to deal with crafting for now then sell mats, almost all “blue” amor/weapons can be found on the TP very cheap and well within the budget of a “mat gatherer &seller”. Do watch for price of mats before salvaging, many drops are more valuable to vendor.
Know that crafting in GW2 is not meant to be profitable while leveling up, only at max craft and with good market research can profit be made from crafting.
Wow, what you can’t use in game mail for trading? I never knew that. So ANet won’t ban bots, gold sellers/buyers, but will ban me for getting scammed? nice..
Not true. You wont get banned for using the mail for trading if you want to risk it.
There is an option to report players as a scammer, right click on the player, choose report then pull down the list and choose “scamming”
I don’t know too much about the lore, but I’m pretty confident that no human has ever made direct contact with the gods
If you are talking about humans from Tyria, then not only they have made contact, We got to kill one and a human took its place.

I read somewhere that it will be exclusive. Can’t remember where though.
They are exclusive to the event, yes but not necessarily to this year. I would venture that they will be for sale next Halloween, no guarantees though.
you mean the glowing book?
you have to do the second scavenger hunt

the glowing book?
you have to complete the second part of the scavenger hunt.

Just to clarify, you don’t “discover” the recipes, you have to get the recipe (vendors (cooking), chest, tot bags, mystic forge, etc) after Halloween is over the only way to get the recipes would be the mystic forge as long as you have the items that are required (some are Halloween exclusive mats)
the actual name of the underwater dragon is bubbles?? :O
No, lol, just his current nickname.
Overrated, afaik, is meant to denote something that everyone thinks is good but in reality is bad.
The thing is in GW what is good or bad depends on your play style, utility/elite skill choices, traits build and gear stat focus. I love hammer on my warrior and I have an appropriate trait build (not necessarily the best) for hammer use, skills that favor hammer use and I’m geared to favor my play style/weapon choice. My guardian on the other hand uses GS and I followed the same philosophy as my warrior.
Better suited for the Lore section.
This argument has also been used in IRL to explain all the diff religions as simply different “views” of the same “God” which could turn ugly quickly if people don’t stay on topic.
On topic there is no evidence to support it from any of the lore I’ve read, it’s not impossible, just improbable. For instance the Asura acknowledge the human gods as entities ie. referring to Balthazar as “the human god of fire and butt kicking”.
The naked book hunt zergs are going to be among the funniest memories I’m going to have from this Halloween (completely in line with the mad king kind of fun).
I did on my lvl 23 Ele (naked) died only 3 times in total. Best line ever at the page were blue fire drops and we have to put it out with water, random players says “hurry naked girl use the water” I laughed so hard at that.
Pro tip: water is your friend! swim up the river in the hitherlands, swim the edge of the map in the bloodtide coast (bonus points if you are a female human in yellow “swimsuit” and the shark boss spawns and kills you. add Jaws music theme at your own discretion).
@caliber have you tested that? seems like a nice workaround if it works,
huh? candy corn is a thing?
Edit – did a google search. what would you know it is a thing. the more you know. lol

Oh really? Have you ever had to buy a set of comics, but in order to get the missing issue, you have to hand in your previous set of comics?
Yes.
Many collectors buy issues they already have to flip them or trade them to get the ones they don’t.
He already did, can’t you see him?
lol I lamost write to ask WHERE!!!!
Well played, well played.
Judging but the number of complains , I’ll venture that Anet made a killing with the RNG sales this event. I would expected it to be back at least for Winterdays.
Now if in Wintersday not that many people buy keys, then maybe they will change for the the next seasonal event.
I was dismayed to find out about some extra Halloween mini. If you are a mini collector, you want to collect them all.
O.O
Declares himself/herself a collector.
Is dismayed to find out that he/she needs to buy the stuff he/she wants to collect.
Word of advice never get into collecting comics, I hear some of the first editions can cost quite a lot of money.

Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier.
You keep saying that crafting should make money, because that is how it works in other games.
i know that but the point of crafting was to use it as a way to make money.
To this I already answered that the point of crafting, in this game, is not to make money, you can make money if you do your research but its a low margin affair. The point of crafting in GW2 is to allow you a way to get exotic armor/weapon by yourself.
Yes, devs can change a lot of things to make crafting profitable, some of your suggestion would indeed make crafting profitable The point that you are missing is that the current system is how the devs want it to be, its meant to be this way.
I’m not really missing you point, I understand what you are saying but you keep ignoring the fact this game is different from other MMOs.
Crafting is working as intended: as a means to make you self sufficient regarding top armor and weapons.
There is another post like this. A dev said that the book won’t be necessary to continue.
@NinjaKnight now I understand you. Though not sure how you apply that in GW? how do you calculte the return on a skin?
Do you mean to convert the price in gold→then to gems and calculate the $$ equivalent?
Wouldn’t that be too subjective, I mean the gold pice in the TP is simply a reflection on wheter the skin is popular or not.
And how much is “the long run” 10 chests? 30 chest? 100 chests? I gambled with 30~ chest (10 of them I payed money for) and got back a shoulder skin and 2 chainsaw skin, plus 2 BLTC kits and 30 fine trans stones adn 5 repair canisters (these items I value the most… I got booster, tonics, bankers, orbs, etc too but dont really use them) what would have been my return?
Perphas a less convoluted comparison would be better, no?
@NinjaKnight My experience with gambling is limited and is not so important as to merit a search. Only been in vegas once and the best odds I got were betting on whether the dice came even or odds (50% odds). Roullete the best I calculated was 33% odds (betting on the 3 “zones”). Perhaps there is another way to bet that gives 80% return and I missed it. Again my experience is limited so I wont argue with you there.
You are right that the key is knowing when to stop, I went in there with $50 dollars I think I got as high as $150 before losing all. To me the original $50 were lost the moment I decided to gamble them and was doing it for the experience (winning was a rush, of course. losing … not soo much).
If every player understood that the chest are a gamble, that buying a chance to get skins does not mean that they will get the skins and to stop if they did not win, then all this negative threads could be avoided.
Didn’t the kids have a chance of giving back a ToT bag?
if I remember right skins in GW1 were account-wide too not just per character
Yes they were. Anet seems to have decided to make costumes a town only affair. Costumes are account bound and can be worn by any toon in your account.
After reading the posts I did not buy any keys. But I did buy a Witches outfit and was very pleased.
I agree the drop rate is too low. For those who compare it to the lottery or Vegas, it isn’t the same. Even in Vegas you get I think 80-90% back, higher if you play poker or count cards in blackjack. With lottery the odds are really low but if you win you win really big.It would be like buying a key and getting a 1 million Gold reward.
I’m sorry I’m not sure I understood this. Do you think that in Vegas for every dollar you spend gambling you get 0.80 cents to 0.90 cents back?
You have clearly not gambled in a casino ever or you have been very very lucky. (perhaps I have been unlucky?)
As to being good at poker or counting cards that is a feat in itself, its not something you do overnight you have to practice.. a lot … years even.
Its called Wintersday!
Here are details from past Wintersday 2011 in GW1

Edit.
Meh did not noitce this is one of those posts =/ would not have wasted 5 seconds answering OP.
(edited by Cancer.9065)
They really should be stating the odds of winning the lottery. That is what this is, people paying real money to win a lottery.
Wrong.
Even though we keep calling it gambling, Black Lion chests (and TF2 crates and whatever) are not technically gambling or a lottery because every purchase results in a “prize” or goods delivered. You have a chance of receiving something rarer, but every purchase is guaranteed to receive something.
This is the exact same reason that buying booster packs of card games or miniature games is not considered gambling (and is not regulated).
Huh, did’t consider that. Makes sense though.
Better “chances” equals happier people. Now that people have seen just what kind of “chance” they have at holiday goodies there is a “good chance” many of them don’t become repeat customers. And in a game that relies on microtransactions to support itself, is this a “chance” A-Net is willing to take? I suppose we shall see with Christmas right around the corner. But if you were to ask me I’d say there is a “good chance” plenty of folks have learned a valuable lesson about taking “chances” in GW2. And I think there is an equal “chance” that it eventually begins to effect future content if “chances” remain the same.
This I can agree with (minus the condescending tone, but nothing is perfect) If you feel that playing lottery is not for you then don’t. Don’t open your wallet again on Wintersday. The best way to tell any business that you don’t like something is not buying their product.
I would only add is that don’t feel disappointed if nothing changes. Don’t start more threads on Wintersday saying that Anet is “doomed” because they don’t do what you think they should do (not you specifically @Kyle, I mean in general).
The BLTC chest is not the only revenue source. When that “change apperance kit” hits the market you can bet they will sell like hotcakes and so on.
You can still craft one, some players might tell you that it requires ridiculous amount of time and grind to do so, but that’s just their opinion. Total price of crafting the permament version of this wonderfull shield is approximately 150g
That is an egregious amount of gold… o___o;
Then again, it’s just cosmetic, so it’s no biggie. I just have no idea how people have managed to save so much gold! I was really wanting The Crossing (that cool staff with the mini lantern hanging from it), but I don’t see it happening.
You don’t need the all the money (don’t even need money) you need to get all the mats that are halloween exclusive and the rest you can farm after halloween is over and craft it later. That is what I’m doing.
do you mean the chainsaw sword, etc? yes those are permanent.
Yeap, any “housing” will most likely be in your home instance.
Are you talking about the big fire boss that spams aoe and has alot of adds? To me thats the hardest boss in the game, atleast when I tried it at lvl 30.
I’ve gone back as 80 and still got my kitten kicked.
At its most basic, I think what happened here was a result of mismatched expectations. When ArenaNet used the word “chance” in its advertisements, it was using it in the most literal sense – the possibility that something might occur with unspecified probability. When many players read the advertisements, they interpreted “chance” to mean something more akin to “reasonable chance” in the traditional gambling sense, wherein the expected value of participating in a contest is not grossly disproportionate to the cost to enter. I don’t think people felt entitled to winning, but they did feel entitled to what they thought was reasonable chance at winning. This is the same sort of entitlement that people feel when they walk into a casino, and it does not inherently prevent them from walking out happy, even if they ended up losing.
What does interfere with their enjoyment is if they come to find out that the expected value of their contest entry was a great deal lower than they thought it was after they already paid to enter. Some might argue that they should not have read “reasonable chance” into “chance” in the first place, but this sort of interpretation of linguistic ambiguity (when perfect mathematical clarity is not available) is something we all do every day, and is in fact unavoidable. If we say that making any kind of assumption beyond the most literal definitions of words is unjustified and a symptom of entitlement, then we’re saying it would have been perfectly fine for ArenaNet to use the word “chance” to mean “there’s a chance our programmers implemented code to allow you to get a reward, and a chance that they did not.” I doubt many people think that usage of the word would be justified, yet that is where relying solely on literal definitions gets us.
Ultimately, my point is this: if you describe an opportunity in a way that is prone to misinterpretation, you should expect people to get upset when their reasonable interpretation of the opportunity is later proven to be wrong.
Chance is chance, be it a 1% or a 75% chance. It still is chance. Some people will find 1% odds reasonable other won’t think its reasonable unless its 75% odds in their favor.
If you are trying to say that Anet should post the odds, then yeah I can agree with you there. Though I can tell you right now that as soon as they say 1% odds there will be threads flaming Anet anyway, so don’t really see why would they = /
Would it be acceptable to him if there are more and less intricate skins with some being harder to obtain?
They have given skins for casuals to work for, its the book. I understand if not everyone likes it, but the option is there. I happen to like the book.
I happen to like the staff also. So I’m gathering the Halloween mats that I will need and after the holiday will continue to work on it to get it.
I agree with op on some points, the best way to tell Anet that you do not like RNG is to not participate and yes not everyone that shares their story should be labeled “entitled”, but OP you know that the majority of posts regarding the chest are of people throwing threats and harshly criticizing Anet because they lost in a game of chance that they chose to participate in.
Forums would be a lot nicer if the concept of gambling was understood. When you gamble the service that you paid for is the chance itself, not the prize.
I can relate to not feeling good about losing, no one likes losing and yes you can come to the forums and say " I’m sad that I did not win anything" the problem is when people come saying " I didn’t win anything, Anet must be scamming us" and generally flaming simply because they did not win in a game of chance.
The worst part is when they say that they were forced because they wanted to participate in the Halloween event… Even though there are events going on that give you a nice skin for your backpack and even though you have a free horn skin to wear.
The real reason behind many of this post flaming Anet is that people bought the keys thinking “I’ll be the lucky one” and when it turns out that they weren’t they got mad.
Would you say this is a mature response to losing in a raffle?
(edited by Cancer.9065)
The puzzle part is knowing were to jump next/where to jump from, some are obvious some are not.
If you still feel that they are not puzzles then rename them in your mind to “jumping mini games”. Problem solved.

one of the best ways to make money in a game like this is through crafting
The problem is that in GW2 crafting is not meant to be a cash cow by itself. It wasn’t designed to be like other MMOs so conventional concepts can not apply.
Crafting can be profitable but its a mostly a low margin affair so selling in bulk is needed. Do know that you WILL lose money if you are doing:
1. you are buying mats from the TP to craft and sell a finished product.
2. you are trying to profit from selling the items you made to level crafting.
I’m not saying your ideas are invalid but bear in mind that to the devs the crafting is working as intended: as a mean to make you self sufficient regarding top armor and weapons.
Its not impossible to profit though. I have leveled armor smith and tailor from 125 to 400 and break even (lost money on some items and profited from others) but I had to research the market to figure it out.
The account bound argument doesn’t realy work because you still need to keep your costume somewhere and goto effort to move it between chars but more importantly, if you lose it you cant get it back.
Yeah that is why I made the suggestion (a few posts up) to make a collectible tab for all costumes.
(edited by Cancer.9065)
Salvage, events and kill variety can all be done in WvW easily (easier that in PvE sometimes).
As for monthly killings do know that you do not have to actually kill other players in WvW you only need to tag them just like in PvE.
I don’t enjoy PvP too much either but have easily gotten my monthly in a couple of WvW sesion simply by following the largest zerg I can find and using ranged weapons (if you have some AoE skills even better) or better yet defend a keep that is being contested just get on a wall and start shooting,
To keep repairs cost minimal use a lower level armor… having higher level armor gives you and edge only if you are good at PvP otherwise it just give an extra couple of seconds that probably wont help you too much, do use the most damaging ranged weapon you can afford and always stay behind the zerg… if the zerg starts to break down run for your life.
You need the recipe to craft it.
Being able to gather while in combat is awesome and a huge plus. Too many people now-a-days love to steal your node. They see you attack the mob by the node and then will go in and take it while you fight. Happens way too often. This prevents that and I feel it is a good thing.
There’s no node stealing in this game, so this point is moot. Mob trains don’t really bother me. Most of the time I see them coming and I can dodge the mess if I want to.
He/she means that many take the opportunity of a distracted mob to gather and leave instead of helping out killing mobs. Happens in SP/vistas also.
Also happens IRL so kinda don’t think it should be changed from the current system some people are nice others are not, its the way things are.
Pretty sure that “winning” in this game is done on WvW and in sPvP not on PVE
Remember that there are 2 different things in GW2.
COSTUMES = Towns clothes (boxer, pirate, mad king, etc)
ARMOR SKINS = Regular armor skins (Krytan, Primeval and Profane skins)
COSTUMES are multi use, account bound you only buy them once, and all your toons can equip/unequip them any time they want.
ARMOR SKINS can only be applied once, after that you need trans stones and fine trans stones to keep using them on different armor pieces.
Costumes in GW1 served both in battle and in town. The “funny” outfits in GW2 are meant for lighthearted fun in town. Armor skins are meant for battle.
Make tools have a lower chance to break when used on lower-quality nodes

What a great suggestion. Here’s hoping Anet reads this thread!.
Maybe OP was just being sarcastic?
It was taken out cause of a bug, but they patched earlier today and ist available again.
