There is no point, at all, in trying to craft anything unusual for profit for the TP.

Not that many people have defined what their “look” or build is so is not that your shield does not appeal to anyone because everyone can make it, its because most of the player base doesn’t even know that skin exists.
I just decided my necro look yesterday and it turned out to be a level 35 armor from a karma vendor and I’ve been 80 for 3 weeks now.
The rate will prob go up a bit during halloween so at least wait for that.
Right now there are too many people trying to do the same as you and that keeps the exchange rate low
On top of a large amount of free bonus content, we will be expanding on offerings in the Black Lion Trading Company going forward, as well as be doing large-scale expansion content down the road.
So english its not my first language, but when I read that I understood a distinction between “free bonus content” from “large-scale expansion content down the road” I mean why separate the two if there is no distinction?
If Anet can pull off a large scale expansion, then all the power to them, I would just advice to not be so enthusiastic about it so as to not be disappointed later on.
Well lets wait for the 10/22 update. Devs already announced new stuff… the makeover kit alone appeared for like 2 seconds and a lot of people bought it immediately before it was taken down (not ready yet).
Engies and Necros are rather good UW… as long as the mobs don’t pile on.
Edit → the invincible mobs are a problem though, but I’ve had that on land too =/
@Dutch Don’t get me wrong I freaking love free stuff, but pretty sure that its only referring to “halloween” style updates (or expansions not sure what to call them now).
Hopefully I’m wrong and they will give us a new storyline, a new continent, etc for free XD
Not holding my breath though.

“What kind of question is this….have you played a game when an EXPANSION PACK was free?”
Yes – Eve online has had over 17 expansions free.
True but if we are going to count all of eve expansion then this Halloween update would count as a free expansion too. Eve is a great game, but its merciless depth came from the interaction of players via the UI and menus. Most EVE expansions were to update the UI, update graphics, adding new resources or new ships or titles… it gave the game new strategies to implement and some new stuff to do but didn’t really embark the players on a new “adventure” or were simply to keep the game up to date.
If Anet keeps the spirit of GW1 expansion, its a boatload of content. So much content in fact that you didn’t need the original game to play them. Prophecies, Nightfall and Factions could be played without playing or owning the other “expansions” the only addon that needed the original game was GW:EN and it cost significantly less than the other 2.
Of course expansions will cost money, GW1 added whole continents not just a new zone and a few quests, but an entire new storyline. Will gems be an option? maybe but I would not count on it, by the time an expansion is ready most of the player base will have a respectable sum of gold to their names.
I don’t think you will need to worry about that for at least a year (probably 2) in the mean time do expect stuff like the upcoming Halloween event. Its not just decorations, GW1 has a history of elaborate holiday events, with quests that chain to a final meta event, mini games with nice skins as rewards, etc. I honestly didn’t think they would do Halloween being so close to launch.
This are all older orders.
You can’t place orders lower than vendor price anymore (try it yourself).
@Rouven ghostly tonics drop in AC but are like 30c in the TP
Also try the TP low level armor can be really cheap and you may find a “look” that you like.
Has anyone though that maybe the more Dusk/Dawn/“insert legendary” are created then the chance for another goes down for a while? to keep them rare.
They could just call something else. Just like Christmas is Wintersday. Marriage can be " Life bond" or something like that that can cover all races
Hi,
Do you have your in game mail box full? (the limit is 10 emails)
If you have then delete mails and you will prob receive the items.
There are Tuxedo and wedding gowns costumes in GW1, they may opt to sell them here to at some point.
I rarely see it too.
Although, I’m sure if I looked more carefully, I might find some.
I wonder if I can report that stupid guy doing WvW who’s naked…
For botting. HMMM.
Yes you can and its simple. click on the suspected bot, then right click on the avatar picture (should be on center top of you screen) to get the menu with the report option. Reporting will not get the toon banned right away as a GM will review the toon’s behavior, history, etc and will only ban when certain.
It depends on the server, some servers are completely infested while other seem to have low bot population, also many hide well (farming in caves, etc to avoid the more trafficked areas).
I’ve seen plenty but never conga lines and not everyday.

What if 100 – 200 people decide to gang up on a single toon to have him / her flag red? a simple reddit post can take care of that
Its not that is a bad idea it simply that the potential for abuse is there.
Jumping puzzles are an achievement, the chests are there to give a sense of “closure” not for loot. If you like to complete everything in game then do them for that reason.
Well there is at least one reason for this (not the only one of course) but fans of GW, as a whole, who are 30 now would have been 23 when GW1 came out.
70 Hours? sure you are not a missing a digit there?
I like it so much I actually make it part of my strategy.
When the odds aren’t good, say I get in over my head with number of mobs, I spike one mob then leave it close to death and star on others, then if I’m downed I finish the spiked one and rally back up either to keep fighting or run and live to fight another day.
Pro tip when you see someone go down while a fighting an “easy” mob don’t stop to rez! finish off the mob and see them rally back up (I even ask for this when I go down)
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/824-new-items-coming-soon/
At some point it will be added they already have the icons in the game´s DB.
Well there can be many reasons for this. but would need more info to give hints.
What level is your toon? what level is your armor? what traits have you invested in? Which healing skill are you using?
And which spinning attack is it? you can move out of the way by simply moving not everything needs to be dodged since spinning usually needs to hit you for a couple of seconds to deal its full damage potential.
I guess I can tell you to know your interrupts and move out of the way if the spinning is in place.
I’m playing a warrior too (among other toons) and I invest in thoughnes/healing trait and use the Healing signet and when health is low just kitting for a few seconds gets me back to half health.
I only want to know what ever happened to Razah. I think, by all means, he should still be around, somewhere…
Could have died fighting Palawa Joko (or still be there for the PS of the possible Elona expansion)
Even if they do I would not worry about them, Anet has a history of making holiday items drop like candy (literally most of the times its sweets) from virtually every mob in the game world.
So don’t stock up on tonics, pumpkins, etc don’t drive the price up and don’t end up with stuff that most likely will be worth a lot less during the holiday event.
Bought GW1 on a whim during a sale (about 2 years before GW2 launch) always wanted to commit to a MMO but subs based gaming simply did not seem reasonable to me. F2P were easy to spot as “traps” after the first few levels so never stay with one more than a couple of days.
GW1 was… different. I didn’t get it… I was coming from D2 and sort of expected a similar experience but of course GW1 is anything but conventional. I got my first toon to max level (20) and quit… I did not get the playstyle and kept dying too “regular” mobs and could not figure why being max level and not even halfway through the storyline.
Yes, this was my lack of research I never really tried to get into the mechanics… I tried to apply my own experiences with other games and of course failed, badly.
Then came the announcement, GW2 was coming: the manifesto and art style got my attention and GW1 were getting rewards for the time they spent there! So I hopped into the calc to check my rewards and….. had a whopping 03/50 points there -__-
So back to GW1 it was (this was about 5 months before launch) and of course this time… I failed even worse.
huh? seriously wth?
So I went into research mode, read about builds, skill synergies, heroes, armor, etc. I joined guru and ask in the forums, the community was very helpful with somebody who was obviously a noob looking for the GW2 rewards, they pointed some of my mistakes, some offer to help me in game and I joined my current guild.
About 3 months later (2 before launch) I had 30/50 HoM rewards and I had started with 1 max level toon, not even with top armor and about 10 plat on my name and ended up with 3 toons max level and some nifty sets of armor.
During this “journey” I learned about Anet’s philosophy, GW lore and its community… Guess what I’m saying is that I came for the flashy trailers and hype but I’m staying because I know that Anet will deliver on a solid gaming experience, I know the GW community is great and I know that I can’t apply conventional gaming experiences to Anet’s games, so I don’t feel discouraged when I “don’t get it”.
Never underestimate the power of the forum search function ;-)

I personaly have found, a ‘Indiana Jones’ style dungeon with traps to avoid, a mysterious old journal that summons a ghost, and a mini event that actually requires you to type in an emote!
I found Indiana Jones body! … well it was an skeleton over a chest with a fedora hat on…. Now I must find this trap style cave too.
Caithe could have stabbed them both in the back at the very beginning if she had wanted. She’s just smarter than that
I did like that part of the book she really made Logan and Rytlock look dumb about the whole light/dark thing.
I got level 70 exotics from map completion of orr zones and I could sell them… perhaps this is the case that you are seeing?
All I know is they were all dead on the floor for the entire Zheitan fight, leaving us to do all the hard work
LMAO!
This thread should go into lore… I think.
SPOILERS FOR EDGE OF DESTINY
And not everything stated is corrected. for instance … Logan a veteran soldier? not really he was a part of a somewhat militia group, doing guerrilla tactics to charr warbands because his big brother was the “real soldier” (Logan’s owns thoughts on the matter since his brother was a seraph in charge of the queen’s protection) and after that both him and Rytlock fought in the LA’s arenas so more like gladiators than anything. And he is more used to fighting with a mace than a sword.
About Rtylock losing in tactics to Logan… the only time that logan tried to out tactic Rytlock, the Charr saw the trap a mile a way… the commanding officer of the unit did not heed Rytlock’s advice and Logan’s ambush was successful.
I would say that they are even matched… I mean even Rytlock thinks so since he made Logan and honoray member of his warband (something akin to calling him his brother)
Well there is a difference between casual and completely new to the genre.
The dungeons are hard at first and like everything the more you do them the easier they get.
For a tip I would go to the mists and practice on your teamwork. When is good to rez? who rezzes? Who trows up boons? when? who can remove conditions? who can distract mobs? who burst damages? Who calls targets? which targets are prioritized? (hint in AC its the monks) Does this boss has a special mechanic?. Remember every character can do any role, but you still need to decide who does what.
The game is geared for casual gamers because you don’t need to play 10 hours a day just to keep up with a gear treadmill. You can play this game once a week and have the same chance as everyone else because the “end game items” are cosmetic only but this does not mean your team should not prepare for the ride.
You know like driving a long distance… its pretty easy, yet you pick your music, snacks and plan route, etc. Knowing who does what really helps.
And finally get the odds in you favor. you can carry 2 buffs with you 1 from cooking (recommend the one that gives you extra damage to ghosts for AC) and 1 from potions suggest one that ups toughness to help out. BTW are all using appropriated level armor? if its 5 below your current level then you need to upgrade same with weapons.
Part of the fun is actually playing like a team… it makes it feel more epic to overcome the challenge knowing you had a specific role in you ride.
+1
The spirit of the post should be understood by every GW player
No I meant that if you want to check the listings you have to pay 5%. If you don’t pay the 5% then you can’t check “contact info” of the buyer and can’t sell you item.
In addition to being able to check the listing (and been given the contact info of the buyer) you have to pay the brokerage fee of 10% for the sale.
Its a way to nickel and dime you, not unlike many banks with all their stupid fees.
Icey’s response to my post did make me give more though to the gold seller variable.
I still think that a harsher gold to gem rate would be better overall, (not perfect… as economic solutions that benefits all are very difficult to come by), but the benefits outweigh the costs IMO.
Icey is, of course right, that gold sellers would get gold faster and still be able to sell it cheaper than the legal way, IF it is not done right. There are 2 ways to do it:
1. Inject more gold (drops, rewards, etc)
2. Decrease the cost of some gold sinks
In this case to curve gold sellers the obvious choice would be to reduce the cost of some gold sinks specifically the ones that botters never use (WP and repairs). Again the effect will be gamers accumulating more gold, and feeling less inclined to buy gold (legal or illegaly) and those that choose to buy gold (ie not pressured due to gold scarcity, but for convenience) will have an attractive legal rate (albeit not as good as gold sellers). Remember as the gold to gems rate goes up so should the gems to gold rate making it more attractive to the consumer.
What is missing here is people motivations. While there will always be people willing to risk a gold seller many will flock to a legal solution as long as that legal solution offers a good value (in this case more gold per gem. This has already been proven by companies like Steam, iTunes, Netflix, etc. Many still pirate music, games and movies yet because their goods offer a good value many consumers choose the legal route.
Of course less sinks, means more gold, more gold means higher inflation (on tp only). Is this bad? not necessarily as long as its controlled, inflation is a natural component of any economy. For example creating more jobs has the exact same effect in RL, more people working = more money circulating = higher inflation, as long as goods that people can buy are enough inflation won’t cause a major disturbance. So as long as we have somewhere to spend that extra gold (account/soul bound optional stuff only, like things for our home instance, again to curve gold sellers) it should not cause a major disturbance either.
Haven’t read all the post after Icey’s response to mine but if this turned to debating whether Anet is manipulating the gem/gold market. Well, I, sincerely hope they are doing it and, if they are, I think they are going in the right direction.
With a harsher rate and a kind off 2 tier gem shop where some useful items (again BLTC salvage kit or tourney tickets) have a low gem value and cosmetics/conveninece retain their high gem value, the gem shop will serve as both a gold sink (for stuff used commonly) and as an incentive to buy gems for cosmetic upgrades or legal gold.

1. Anet is not trying to set up a branch in Argentina, why would they care about taxes that stop business growth?
2. Custom taxes (or fluffy bunnies as you called it) exist in almost all countries in the world, again including the US. Even if the goods in questions are free.
Actually Concept is wrong … on so many levels.
Right, do you live in Argentina? Because I did for a great deal of my life, and these taxes do in fact exist.
No I do not live or have lived in Argentina. I do live in Ecuador. As Axel said he currently lives in Argentina and says no such tax exist. your point being?
Anyway 2 things from the top of my head:
1. The taxes you are referring (which not always apply anyway) are not for receiving free stuff but for the act of importing goods and usually fall on the receivers end unless both parties negotiated different incoterms.
2. Many countries, including the US, have taxes for receiving free money. Win a sweepstakes? you have to report it to the IRS and pay taxes over it.
The reason I said you’re post is wrong its because your post is politically charged and attacks a country and its people for no good reason.
Actually Concept is wrong … on so many levels.
Axel, the reason for this has to do with legal costs. When you enter contest you “agree” to play by the set rules. The problems is that some of this rules may be illegal in Argentina.
Now… are they? probably not but Anet would have to pay a legal team to review Ecuadorian, Argetinian, Bolivian, Colombian, Peruvian, etc law to cover themselves form any potential lawsuits.
USA, Canada and EU have pretty standard regulations which have already been studied before and thus are easy to simply copy and paste a set of rules.
Shipping cost is cheap, as you pointed out. Legal costs… those are expensive.
I see where you are coming, but the fee its part of the immersion too. As with any real sale you would have to invest some money to sell your stuff to anyone in the world (well except on the internet, I guess… but I would hate to see an add supported TP)
On the other hand, a higher exchange rate will allow Anet to relax on the gold scarcity a bit… yes, prices in the TP will adjust accordingly but not vendor, repair or travel costs which will become less stressful for the more casual gamer with the added benefit of curving gold seller’s profit as players see their gold accumulate faster and feel less inclined on buying gold illegally.
I, for one, support that the exchange rate of gold for gems goes up, while making some items in the TP cheaper (the BLTC salvage kit comes to mind and other non vanity items) to counter the harshness of the rate. While a more elaborated study is needed, its not hard to conclude that gold scarcity is here, not only to prevent inflation, but to put an incentive on players to acquire gems with $$$ instead of the more hard to come by in game gold.
[As always my post on economy are not a rant/complain/conspiracy theory. I fully support Anet with $$$ in the gem shop and encourage people that like the game, albeit its flaws, to do so too]

In GW1 on the Factions expansion guild alliances could “control” outposts by participating in battles and accumulating points. This was reflected in the map (“outpost controlled by…”) I think the vendor had cheaper stuff and the guild had “free access” to a dungeon while other had to purchase a scroll (though it was cheap anyway). The outpost did had the guild’s banner.
(this is from memory)
Oh, and Heroes who simply kill the dragons will have to make do with Vendor trash.
IMHO, a Legendary weapon should be the reward for a Legendary act in Tyria. Not from beating the TP, farming like a bot or throwing stuff in the Mystic Toilet.
But everyone kills Zhaitan… how legendary is something that everyone has? (BTW devs did say that they are bringing unique skins for killing Z with a retroactive fix for people that run PS already).
As for the RNG part… why so much focus on that?.. the feat takes a lot of stuff… world exploration alone seems exhausting. As with many heroes in RL feats of greatness take planning. strategy, determination, courage, hard work and a little LUCK.
Getting your legendary will take planning, strategy, determination, courage, hard work and a little Luck. I see no difference. Not everyone will have them because life is like that.
All those who PvP in WvW plays PvE too.
I dun see them complaining that they have to do PvE in order to WvW.
Plus they are plenty of PvE monsters inside WvW as well.
Hence I say WvW is part of PvE.
So the 100% Map Completion including WvW is normal and justified.
So what do you say?
I think WvW having some, optional, achievements its fine.
However people that play WvW more, lets say enthusiastically, have to UNDERSTAND and ACCEPT that if someone is there to get the POI’s and SP or monthly kills and does not want to join on a “lets storm this keep” run its not a reason to berate them.
yes, that (its 7 btw)
If you mean your toon from GW1…
from what I understand the story does not revolve around your hero specifically but around the NPC heroes Devona, Aidan, Eve, Cyn, etc and “other heroes” (this is where your toon is) this is a writers trick to not deal with which class/name/sex was the hero of GW1 since it would leave some many toons out.
BTW I found Anton’s grave and spirit (the hero assassin from EOTN) in gendarran fields. He doesn´t say much about the destroyers either.
yes? no?
answer me, maybe?
Thanks.
Even if they can’t bring everything back for this year it doesn’t mean that it wont come at some point. Launch has been a handful for Anet.
