What gold sink are you talking about? I am making the same amount of gold if not more since the expansion hit.

The game has plenty of gold sinks. The fact that you’re able to make money doesn’t mean there aren’t gold sinks in the game.

  • They nerf dungeon rewards to stop elitism but bring raids that are ten times more elitist than any dungeon run (at least in dungeons you could succeed after a lot of time with a mediocre group. Some of us liked to teach newbies to run dungeons, that’s not an option in raids).

They didn’t nerf dungeons to stop elitism. They nerfed them to stop gold earning.

Why would this be of consequence to your SW farm? Aren’t you opening your bandit chests on low level twinks for the lower tier crafting materials?

Shame, could be making so much more gold.

Regular masteries can be lvled anywhere in central tyria. And its not hard to level maguuma masteries at all. Dragons stand is pretty great for XP.

A lot of people would like to level Maguuma masteries outside of the jungle maps because they’d like more variety while leveling than the 4 maps provide.

I admire you for putting your money where your mouth is, Vayne. I don’t see many people that love HoT saying much to people that dislike it that doesn’t include some version of L2P. So, it’s refreshing to see someone actually offering their time to help.

I’d change a lot about HoT no doubt, but I’ve found it less intensely unfriendly a month later than I did upon release. There’s much to be said for keeping plugging away at something until you can reach a level of comfort.

That said, the only thing that I really want right now is if you can get me into a map that guarantees the Gerent goes down successfully.

I didn’t even bother to donate to my guild at all. They will probably kicked me one day, but I do not care anymore. Donating is taking out resources that I need to make my ascended gear that I am forced to make in order to join a raid team, if not, they won’t even consider you if you are on exotics. And I am an ele that hits hard, I still need to squeeze out that 5% extra damage in order to get into a raid teams…..

Yeah, I don’t know of any guild groups that allow their regular raiders to wear anything other than ascended. From what I’m seeing and hearing, ascended gear is already considered standard raiding requirements.

People kept talking about how good the community was, how there was no elitism based on what gear you had, how you could play all content in the game with level 60-80 blues and greens just fine and that ascended wasn’t required. Oh and let’s not forget my personal favorite, that max gear in this game is easy to get.

It’s possible that these people are new players with no max characters and therefore no real experience with what it’s like in level 80 areas, HoT zones, and what’s it’s like to get max gear.

The new glider/outfit bundle is the latest debacle. ArenaNet are outright telling people who don’t want HoT that they don’t want them using the gem shop. Why would I EVER buy a bundle that has a glider skin in it if I don’t own HoT? Sell that biz a la carte please.

These seem really overpriced to me. Normally, an outfit costs 700 gems. Gliders sold by themselves cost 400 gems. Therefore an outfit + glider should only be around 1100 gems.

Overpriced items make me think that enough people have either left the game and so aren’t around spending money or the people that have stayed are keeping their money, so that overall they’re not making much money with their gem store and need to overinflate the prices to make up for the people that are no longer spending money.

Also Reddit, if you want accurate representation reddit is the place to go, also a lot of post are made by a few people posting multiple times so thousand is kind of exaggeration , it is nothing compare to the GW2 population as a whole. The fact is people who are unhappy are way more likely to post on forum, and bad post here can not be down voted to oblivion like reddit.

If posts people simply disagree with are downvoted on Reddit, how is that representative? Doesn’t it simply mean that whoever gets there first, their opinion is the one on top? Be it positive or negative?

Pretty good point, the current mega server tech, does hurt the game, especially when it resets map progression…
Also its odd when sometimes you have a Auric Basin Meta going on with 3 comms and you get the message to move, only to be carried to a emptier map.

Being moved from a reasonably populated map to a mostly empty map is something else that is frustrating since HoT. It happens to me way more than it should.

I’d like to have the option of completely removing crafts, too. And, as has been noted, to transfer crafting to another character.

  • Thirdly, after about a week, one of the guild leaders starts sending me PMs demanding that I “pull my weight” and that they’re stripping “freeloaders” out of the guild, demands that I deposit significant quantities of gold into the guild account or they’ll remove me from the guild. Guilt-trip messages telling me that everyone else is putting their ‘fair share’ in and that I’m sponging off them.

This is something else that has been made much, much worse by HoT. The expansion added guild halls to the game and the materials required for upgrading and the new scribing crafting profession are really intense. So some guilds have begun harrassing members to pony up lots of gold and mats so they can progress faster. Some have even gone so far as to “tax” its members, requiring a set amount of gold each week/month in order to remain in the guild.

Personally, I’d never stay in a guild where members are allowed to constantly beg for money or mats. This is simply bad behavior. And I’m not a big fan of taxation in guilds, either.

  • WvW seems completely un-tutorialised. For example, I have no idea how to break into a fortified site, and there are no NPCs that I’ve found that explain it, and there are almost never any players in the WvW maps.

WvW used to be busy, but with the changes that arrived with HoT, a lot of regular WvWers have stopped playing much. I’m hoping the game gets it all sorted, but until then it’s just too bad that new players like yourself haven’t had a chance to really see it like it’s intended to be.

@Celtic Lady
" Upgrades for a guild should be based on percentages that directly relate to a guild’s size or activity level. " – kick everyone from your guild, leave only ~6 players > upgrade your guild > invite players you’ve kicked.
Influence was the best system. It’s so sad that ANet chose guilds for their gold sink.

I tend to think this wouldn’t happen nearly to the degree people say it will. The logistical nightmare of getting hundreds of people back into your guild once you’ve kicked them for any length of time is fairly prohibitive. Besides, suggestions have already been made to make this less likely to happen.

So you want nerf difficult and interesting content to boring mindless spammy regular maps. What a great idea.

You might want to try reading a post before commenting on it.

What the OP said and what you said had absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Keeping my map participation when I’m prompted to move to another map would be terrific. I also think maps closing an hour after getting this message regardless of how well the meta is doing is something that needs fixing.

Having the events progress on a faster timer would be really nice, as well. The mandatory waiting is not fun and I’ve seen many map groups fall apart during the wait.

I agree that the Gerent Meta needs reworking. I think it expects too much of a group for open world content.

Noxious pods are…what can I say? Obnoxious! I would like to see more of them on the map pre-dragon-kill. Definitely too many machetes.

I still think Hero Challenges should be soloable. Again, waiting for help that often doesn’t come is not fun.

And I’d love it if we could have more access to the entirety of the Dragon’s Stand map for map completion purposes. So much of it is locked away for so much of the time.

It’s not fair for small guilds to get cheaper upgrades over larger guilds.

I disagree. Upgrades for a guild should be based on percentages that directly relate to a guild’s size or activity level. What’s not fair is for small guilds to carry the same weight as much larger guilds.

And I think it’s a bad idea overall to discourage smaller guilds. The world is big enough (or should be) for both types of groups.

Celtic Lady.3729

55 laurels every 28 daily logins. No drought here.

I still need hundreds of laurels. 55 a month feels really slow. lol

Craft slower.

Rant time …

Honestly a lot of complaints I’m seeing since HoT revolves around the idea that the player needs to get X now. This “group think” leads to a rush on the TP which shoots up the price of mats for crafting; the gold to gem exchange rate when something cool comes out or goes on sale at the gem shop; hero points for specialization; XP for masteries … I can go on.

A lot of these aren’t a problem if the drive for immediacy is ignored. Since raids rolled out the week it’s now ascended armor and the new precursors/legendary weapons.

It’s Black Friday at Wal-Mart in the microcosm of the game but instead of sucker punching the grandmas for a 70" TV for $499 it’s everyone draining the TP, their collections, cheap salvageable goods all to get affordable mats and if you are late to that party the cry goes out that it’s too expensive or it’s time gated. FOMO is imaginary. There will still be groups doing the first raid wing months from now. Everyone doesn’t need to do it this week so you all don’t need your gear yesterday.

I have all my gear. I need infusions.

Exploration Maps

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

So although I don’t know exactly how often developers frequent the forums, here’s what I’d like to suggest: a release of exploration maps. They don’t need to contain many (or any, at first) events. They don’t have to contain skill points/hero challenges. They don’t need to be lined with waypoints (the more challenging the adventure, the more interesting it could be). They don’t even have to contain points of interest! (Although they would contribute to lore very nicely.) They just need to contain mobs, villages/towns, NPCs, and landscape. It would make the world bigger and more open! And Anet can always use the maps later on if you need room for Living World events or updates.

This does sound like a really unique idea. The many and varied maps that launched with GW2 is one of the main reasons I chose to play the game in the first place. I’m big on map completion and exploration. I would explore any maps available, though I enjoy them more when they have map items for me to collect such as POIs, vistas, HCs, etc.

That said, I can see the appeal of a wide-open map with not much on it at first. Simply a place to go and run around in and explore. I’d want the mobs to be reasonably well-spaced so I can look around without having to focus overmuch on survival, though.

The idea of adding things as time goes on (in relation to future LS updates, for instance) is really intriguing. It would be fun to see events, vistas, POIs, waypoints, etc. added to open maps in a gradual fashion following a storyline. I liked the way they slowly added to the Dry Top maps with each story update, letting us play segments at a time and becoming familiar with the areas gradually.

I love that they’ve added some maps since launch. Southsun was the first, but I was disappointed that there was only a handful of POIs and not much else when it arrived. I’m glad they’ve since added the map completion legend and rewards to Southsun, Dry Top, and the Silverwastes. (I want them back in WvW, too, but that’s another discussion.)

I also would love more maps that allow for gliding, but ones that have less mob density and are less confusing than some of the HoT maps. lol

How did you get your ascended gear?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

I have made quite a lot of ascended gear, and I did it using a combination of farming/regular playing/grinding gold to outright buy materials.

Regular playing – I refused to work on ascended gear 100% of my playing time. So, I spent a portion of my play time just doing what I enjoyed – leveling alts and map completions. These things netted me materials that I used on my ascended gear.

Farming – I used the Silverwastes map events to farm bandit crests which I used to buy keys and once I had built up a good supply of them, I hit up a chest train (usually on weekends) and filled up my inventory with loot from doing this. I kept the mats that I could use for my ascended gear and I sold the rest for gold.

Grinding gold – Another method I used for this was Black Lion key farming. It doesn’t really work now, but I used it extensively to get ticket scraps, which I then used to buy weapon skins that I sold for good money on the TP.

Every day I crafted my time-gated materials, buying what I needed for that day that I hadn’t already acquired via the activities mentioned above. It took me more than 4 months to make everything I wanted. But really, the time I spent waiting for the time-gated items allowed me a natural break (there was a lot of grinding involved in those 4 months. lol) and gave me time to continue to rack up more gold.

In the end, I’m just super glad I made all this before HoT, considering the TP prices of things right now.

Adventures and masteries: Intended lock?

Celtic Lady.3729

Way too many ‘mastery’ points gated behind these mini games- I’ve managed exactly one silver, having tried several and wasting a lot of time on the JP timed one.

I feel the same way. I wish they’d given 1 Mastery Point for bronze, too, in order to pump up the mastery points one can acquire. Or just built enough mastery points into the system that you could bypass the Adventures altogether.

I’ve done enough with these to know that I have no chance of getting even most of the mastery points associated with Adventures, so I’m not going to be “maxing” out anything.

Orange: Lean techniques required. You glide to the branch below the mushroom, walk up the branch, then glide over to the mushroom, continuing on Dulfy’s path.

Red: You glide to the area below, move to the edge, glide to the updraft in the distance, turn around and glide to the box. This is what Dulfy should have shown.

Wow. The red path is WAY easier. Thank you for showing this.

Another reason I think the scribe implementation was poorly designed.
