Seriously. If T1 and T2 is filled go to T3 and T4, then so on. T3 and T4 will become filled and have a ton of more peeps to play with / against AND on top of that if they fill, there may finally be some movement and a break from stale match ups to boot.
The player-base has done a pretty good job within the past year of doing just that. The biggest problem, including PvE players in the server population calculation, has been solved finally. If that had been implemented in the past, servers near the top would have filled quicker and servers near the bottom would have not emptied out as much. Going forward we should see more servers start to fill up.
Jayne, you’ve been gone a long time and as I understand you don’t play on NA servers anymore. What you talk about is from a time now passed. A lot of the players still in the GvG scene are burnt out from the PPT thing and don’t find fighting big pug forces particularly interesting anymore because those kinds of fights tend to be too easy. A lot of them have already “been there and done that” in WvW.
WvW and GvG is really going separate ways in NA. Yes, a lot of PPT v. GvG trolling went on, from both sides, but that isn’t necessarily why things evolved the way they did. It’s a separate game mode at this point. Players more interested in GvG are going to place that interest above PPTing on a server just as a PvE player is going to prioritize Tequatl over a Bay cap.

@OP you should remove the so-called “Answer”. It looks like you are endorsing one guy’s negative opinion about his own server, when they are common issues all server communities face.
And I think you throw the term bandwagon around too easily. Bandwagons like HoD and Kaineng moved up all the way from Bronze Tier. FA moved up an average of two ranks. Not exactly comparable. There’s plenty of examples of “mini-bandwagons”, sure, and that happens to a lot of servers. They aren’t particularly spectacular.
Bandwagon… LOL….. FA has been in T2/T3 for a really long time.
One of the additional factors for why NA is like it is has to do with the T2/T3 divide Anet created with the Gold and Silver divisions.

How has the current situation broken apart guilds and communities?
oh come on chaba, you had to be laughing as you typed that…anyone who’s been on a server that got bandwagonned for a season can attest to the damage open xfers creates.
threads are littered with people fed up with the current situation.
but here’s the real point…“[I] want to take away individual players’ choices.”
nah…i just want the individual to actually have a choice in wvw instead of a few who think they know what’s best.and Reverence, i guess i don’t care about your one, singular, particular guild in this case…i suspect all our guilds have similar stories at this point. xfers have created this, and it is something that would have to be figured out…oh wait, like i said, give everyone a free xfer, just not right away.
I was laughing at the fact that you made an assertion and didn’t provide any rationale behind it. So I asked for one. Instead you return with an appeal to common belief (i.e., ‘anyone… can attest’).
You’re also being very disingenuous saying that you want individuals to have a choice in WvW. You wrote that you want players to have to go back to their starting home servers. There is no choice to be had in that. Contrast that with what happens right now: individuals have a choice. They have the power of self-selection, the ability to choose which guilds and server communities they want to be a part of. If they chose not to be a member of your community, that isn’t Anet’s job to fix.
So break apart every guild/community? lol
look, straight up…are you gonna pretend that the current situation HASN’T “broken apart guilds and communities” already, and doesn’t continue to? plz
Be real. How has the current situation broken apart guilds and communities? The current situation is guilds and communities moving together. If you didn’t move when your community did, that was your choice.
Asking Anet to enforce a break of current guilds and communities who SELF-SELECTED to stay together in the manner they have is a non-solution before it gets out the door. You want to take away individual players’ choices.

I am pretty sure fight-orientated players on YB don’t even care.
Depends upon whether they can get through queues or not.
That is, it would be really terrible if a server can do a blackout to game the system.
From dev comments on reddit reposted earlier in this thread, it sounded like the new calculation smooths out “rapidly changing artifacts like timezones or matchups”. So for example a server with a T2 population dropping to a T3 match and bringing out all the fairweathers won’t suddenly go full. With regards to timezone force discrepancies though I hope it doesn’t make it worse and prevent a weak timezone from getting new WvW players.
Basically, spamming the key to get the “invisible” loot of the floor, not even being sure if I have or not loot on the floor.
I’m not understanding how that’s a real issue.
I don’t get it either. Mines the shift key, my pinky finger clicks it when I see exp on my screen. When you see exp on screen during fights usually you get some sort of loot from it.
Haha yea! Exp means something died!
What timezone do you play?

My AoE loot key is bound to my TS push-to-talk key.
Can we quit with the rumors about FA shedding people and dropping to T3 just because one guild left for Maguuma recently? FA is in a good place right now and is gaining guilds with both HART and KING recently transferring over. Then there’s oT and Syn going to start up raids within the week. These guys want a piece of the new transfers to YB from T1.
OP: NA in T2 was never a real place for good small-man fights. That kind of WvW occurred mostly off-hours in T2. You’ll want T3 and below for NA small-man.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
YB …They’re still open while FA and SoS are locked.
Yep, it works both ways. YB should be full given how their WvW population was roughly matching FA’s before the recent T1 transfers. And SoS should be not full. But PvE players…. One of the things that caused FA to go full was a very large gaming community based around a streamer choosing FA as their GW2 home for HoT when it was announced. Those players mostly play PvE. With FA’s NA queueing four maps though it might have been that those PvE players couldn’t have picked FA in the first place if this new system had been in place then.

Yea, if you wanted to avoid fighting you’d go out the other exits.
Chaba…you could have leveled a ranger though!
I already have a lvl 80 ranger :/
“Golem Weak” is an appropriate title.
Why are you not ticking +695 yet? How will you ever get to T1? I’m really disappointed in how close the score is this week.
Yes, oddly, I live in EST zone (NA) and I find my ping better on my EU account than my NA account for some reason. I have no idea why.
Time Warner.
But seriously, I live on the West Coast and have to use a VPN into New York to get playable EU pings because routing across the continental US sucks for some reason. Get packet loss even.
One thing I do is have one of our raid nights designated as “alt night”. Guild members are allowed to play whatever class they want or bring an uplevel or run some alternate build on their main class. That helps them feel like they aren’t stuck to playing one class all the time. We adjust how we play on those nights because group comp goes out the window.
When the higher tier servers open up, do you expect our lower tier servers to lose even more?
When a server has large queues during X timezone, it will most likely stay “full”. There is no guarantee that this change is going to open up higher tier servers.
This is interesting. Our TS owner linked me a graph to TS usage a few days ago which also showed a 50% decrease in bandwidth.
Last night my guild ran a golem train in EB for a little more than an hour. It was only six of us in TS but we had around 30 on tag (normally we’ll get about 20 in channel). Golem training doesn’t need TS. That’s how mindless it is.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
Now we know the real reason for the golem event was to get good data on WvW population levels by disrupting them!!!!!!!!
I’m looking forward to this change. Who will remain full? Who will open up?
We’re much happier on Maguuma, I still play my FA account from time to time, but every time I do, Yaks Bend reminds me of why I stopped roaming on FA.
I’m glad you guys are enjoying it. You guys helped stabilize T3 and gave players greater options for WvW.
Also small guilds (like mine) started being ignored and excluded in the community, which ultimately led to me leaving to go to a server that appreciates us and what we do.
The Fort Aspenwood forum community has an long-standing policy on guild size (going back to 2012) for obtaining access to the Warzone sub-forum. Smaller sized guilds have been given access by consensus based on their leadership activities in-game. Among the small guilds that currently have access are Echo, FTF, CREW, PACT, THUG, WB, WS, and Drgn. There are additional small guilds who would be given access if they requested it, such as CC and DOJO, but the leadership in those guilds has never felt excluded nor unappreciated for lack of access.
Additionally, this player’s main guild had transferred to Maguuma and he admitted to not playing very much on FA during the mini-bandwagon period. Being excluded was a self-imposed event. XT was appreciated by quite a few in the community when they were playing on FA and they’d be welcomed back.

FA not top T2 anymore? Looks like I’ll have to jump back into WvW. Never really liked it when FA was a top of tier server anyway.
Lol you mean once in fa’s history?
FA was top of T3 whenever it dropped out of T2 like in Season 1, post-Season 2, and post-Season 3.
Point was not top of t2 anymore (not t3). Now once, but for several months, is quite different than a one-off 1 or 2 time appearance.
But you don’t care anyway right
…..
The point was more general: “a top of tier”.
Event basically showed me that there are a lot of servers out there with people that take this game too seriously. Instead of trying to make the best out of it they chose to give up and not play..
This event showed me that there are a lot of servers with people who take this game so seriously that they are willing to withstand the boredom that comes from ktraining in a golem for hours on end.
What a snooze-fest. A guild can only make a joke out of it for so long, like FSP’s “golem bomb” video. How many hours can they do that to make it entertaining? Probably got tired of golem bombs after the first 5 times.
My guild tried it. Our normally chatty TS channel was unnervingly quiet as the meditative quality of ktraining and watching the other server’s ktrain run away from us was lulling us to sleep.

While not on this forum. Of course I am gonna trash talk FA while on YB. Same as I trash talked YB while on FA. Just like playing a game of basketball. You trash talk, then laugh about it after the game.
I honestly don’t see anything changing. In time, FA will be top dog again in T2 and YB will fade to number two. Both servers will accuse the other of this and that. Its just the nature of the game.
See you all on the killing fields.
You have the perspective of someone who has played honestly on different servers. Do not expect those who have only played on one server to understand it. I certainly don’t.
Bandwagoners leave because their side is no longer face rolling the opposition.
Fairweathers went back to PvE because their side is no longer face rolling the opposition.
You forgot the third and fourth reasons:
- Players get bored of the same opponents.
- Players take breaks from the game.
Bump. I haven’t been finding him either in Camp Resolve.
This week is ending up as it is from lack of player participation. I’m actually really surprised how poorly a lot of WvW players responded to this week. Players already raged quit before reset even began. Other players rage quit after an hour or two after reset. The effects of having less and less players to fight just snow balled the rage quitting from there. The simply solution is to man up and get back on map! So what, we have a lot of Golems, that doesn’t prevent open field fighting. We have the Golem buff issue, which again, is a so what? Just everyone pop it and we’re all on an even playing field again.
Uh, no.
WvW is a sandbox environment. People play it for a lot of different reasons and do different things in it. The golem event forced WvW to stop being a sandbox, forced players into doing one thing and one thing only because of the way you were punished for NOT using a golem. That’s why players quit.
FA opens up to Very High during SEA and early NA. We’ve had a few good-sized guilds transfer to FA within the past two weeks.
/shrug
Some people define “action” as outnumbering the opponent. Others define it as being outnumbered.
In this time of need of your own server, pretty funny how you transferred off FA instead of stay and helping your servermates.
Sometimes players need a change. It’s part of the reason why those T1 guilds are moving to YB, with the tiers being locked, there is no change without population movement.
Yak’s Bend is the new bandwagon, with several large T1 guilds making the move for a push to T1. Even if DAWN didn’t leave, it would not have changed what is going to be happening now to T2.
The solution is not to play while this event is going on.
I see Josh at the end discuss how he basically implemented this whole event on his own time as part of the marketing team just to try and add something new into WvW, and this is the reaction he gets.
I’m just really disappointed in the playerbase.
Well, was the playerbase asking for a buffed golem rush event? Would have to search past threads to see if it was mentioned at all after the last “Sneak Attack” event.
I mean, marketing involves market research, like figuring out what the customers are looking for, how their needs can be fulfilled, etc.
Another two hours of grinding SW and still no official respond but they took their time to bring up a new teaser regarding ele specialization…rip ele. I will miss you as much as my WvW!
I don’t expect an official response. Looks like the devs got killed by 50+ omega golems.
Still no official response? What on earth…
The Devs have been overrun by 50+ omega golems.
“Hey guys, what are we going to do tonight in WvW?”
“How about another golem rush?”
“We could change it up and golem rush a different borderland.”
“Anyone up for golem rushing EOTM?”
“Let’s golem rush EB again!”
You guys are all looking at this wrong!
This is Anet’s way of shaking up the glicko ratings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
some people just got tired of fighting the YB blob, while others are thinking it would be a good idea to let YB PPT like crazy and push themselves into T1 that way they’ll be out of our matchup
T1 has to implode first…..
A very real possibility….
The new camera system is great. The problem is the AC design. It is a dumb idea to change the camera back to what it was just because AC can be broken sometimes.
Ac was should be the anti personal weapon, not the anti siege weapon. Make it do 0 dmg to siege and it becomes much more balanced like the other siege weapons.
Agreed. Remember when the damage on ACs was buffed? Should be put back to what it was IMHO.
Up to this point, the que time for YB is not as bad.
LOL, then you haven’t been on YB long enough yet. They pull longer queues during NA than FA over the weekends and have been for several weeks now.
FOV =/= exploit….
never has and never will
Haha, good sarcasm. But I guess the no-skill guilds which use these non-exploits see it that way. Shame that Anet created this problem and refuses to fix it. I just feel sorry for the commanders who need to use such questionable tactics to take an undermanned tower while having a zerg at the ready, I surely wouldn’t follow such a goober.
Taking this line of reasoning to it’s absurd logical extreme…
Please turn off “Promote Skill Target”, “Melee Assist”, “Right/Left-Click to Interact/Attack”, and change ground targeting to the fast option without the green ground reticle. These options are exploits that provide an advantage over those of us who are manually targeting. One could argue that auto-attack needs to go too.
And lastly, if your computer is faster than mine, if you are using an SSD, if you are using a mechanical keyboard, a highly precise gaming mouse, high resolution and/or multiple monitors, you are exploiting! The hardware manufacturers created this problem and refuse to fix it!
/sarcasm
Wish the wide FoV were in the game at launch.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
It didn’t bother me too much but I did hear complaints from others in TS about how distracting it was to have bricks falling in front of their faces in WvW all the time.
Just get in and start playing with your PvE gear.
Haha, if you do that you may create bad first impressions amongst your teammates with your rallybotting. Always best to ask those around you for some help, like you’ve done here.
Want to add, there’s something very weird about how the class has poor access to swiftness when it can channel a CENTAUR! Everyone seems to be able to run faster than a centaur…
