I’m on the West Coast and have played EU. The lag can be pretty bad at times, nothing like if you were an East Coast player. It depends how the routing and your ISP is. I avg 180ms ping, but TCP latency sometimes spikes to 400ms and I’ll end up dc’ing. It seems to also change depending on the time of day with EU prime being playable but late night PST barely able to keep a connection. You’ll have to look into a VPN solution to help with routing if it gets too frustrating. I believe a lot of the OCX players have a similar experience when they play.
Btw, I recommend a T2 server for the variety. Kodash myself.

Considering that defenders can also build ACs in such a way as to take out enemy catas and AC at that spot using the same fov settings, I’m not understanding the issue here.

This is the situation in which you miss the point. Intelligent leader see that they just controlled you with area denial and controlled the flow of your group. Something that is impossible for you when you limit yourself by refusing to use siege for no logical reason.
When I outnumber an opponent or know that my group can sustain through the enemy siege, basically when I know I can win the fight without it, my own lack of use of it is perfectly logical.

I think we’re looking for explanation of why your analysis always showed T1 locked with 100% chances of BG/JQ/TC when both FA and TC’s ratings were within 200 points of each other but now it shows less than 100% chance.
This sucks, I only started playing GW2 3 months ago and have saved up every single penny I earned. I now have 300 gold, and that is nowhere near enough to get me a twilight. I was thinking about getting RMT gold, and it seems to hit late joiners like me worse than others

I do carry most forms of siege around at all times so I don’t share this whole hate against siege weapons. But as for what I think…
The point of siege is to create area of denial zones to defend strategic objectives of which rhe enemy will find hard to ignore.
Building siege in the middle of nowhere greatly reduces their usage since the enemy could just ignore and go around you. This not only makes it boring, but now you’ve effectively siege griefed your own server. Consider the efficiency of a siege weapon that will only be used for 1 battle vs siege in towers/keeps or even camps that can be easily refreshed and protected, thus used for a very long time.
It has really nothing to do with cowardice. If a smaller group can build siege at a bridge or a tunnel to defeat greater numbers, then it is a great play. If you are doing it to defend a structure, well, that’s sort of the point. But if a larger group can wipe a smaller group without siege and chooses to do it anyways, then they’re wasting supplies and putting siege that will contribute to the siege cap… aka a tactical blunder. In this case, I would want to ask why they picked a fight with a superior force with no terrain or building advantages and didn’t simply pull to a better location. So even saying they were playing to win is often debatable as Coldtart brought up since such a move is very exploitable. More like they screwed up and are just trying to not die, at the server’s expense.
Supply isn’t free after all. It really does take a village to make sure camps are not flipped via scouting, and even more pain to those that run supply to structures. (Upgrades cost money too!). Taking the supply that people may have worked hard to get set up so one can go on a joyride is generally not that cool. But then I guess that goes the other way when people kitten on ppt’ers even though without them, people wouldn’t get those fights and karma trains.
I know a lot will think “but we won anyways!”, but to me it’s the same if 2 people can’t capture a camp and need 20 people to do it. Sure the camp was captured, but it’s horrifically inefficient.
In terms of fun, siege wars tends to slow down the pace of the game, meaning that people won’t be as willing to engage if they know siege is going up. But since this is subjective, YMMV.
And in any case OP, you probably had to build siege anyways to attack the keep, so people were clearly just not being aware. I don’t really care to chide anyone over it really because it is merely my opinion, and it could be argued that one side imposes their will too much on people.
This guy writes my thoughts pretty well. While “playing to win” means you should remain open to using siege (I seen people not use ACs to defend structures on purpose because of this “rules of honor” thing), it also means you should be playing to win. Saying you are throwing down the siege because you are playing to win is disingenuous in the case of combat in the open field. You’re really building an open field AC because you find it fun, not because you considered the meta issue with it.

I’m going to guess that it has something to do with being exactly 100 rating points apart roughly translates into a 1% chance. So being 130 rating points apart starts bringing the chance closer to 1% and above 0% (or 0.001%)

If you don’t have a smartphone, you can always use a desktop app which supports googleauth (the system GW2 uses). There’s really no excuse.

You mean like when the login server took a dump this morning for many many players?
I believe it has to do with the fact that the login server is frequently overloaded and responses timeout. Sometimes I can’t even use the TP because of timeouts to the login server.

Yep. This has happened this whole last match. I see guilds calling rallies early because the lag is just unusually bad since the patch.
The login server has been laggy for awhile now, ever since the stability change patch.
So when I also get errors of timeouts talking to the login server ip (up to over 400ms TCP latency according to Windows Resource Monitor lasting for about an hour during NA Prime last night), but the rest of my connection to the map ip is fine, that’s my internet provider? /sarcasm

I don’t really understand why you would transfer to the T2 server that has the most roamers. You should have transferred to SoS or YB.
The first thought that crossed my mind when I read OP was wondering if they did their research into the matter before they transferred.
Just get rid of immobolize stacking already.
Anet really rethink this. Currently w/o -condition duration food, some classes or 2 can easily achieve permenant immob thanks to stacking, ESPECIALLY venom thief.

I don’t know if it has been reported yet, but the camera is real buggy if you use “Look Behind”.
When in WvW, as I run to a keep tower/portal while looking behind, the camera starts to look up into the sky. You can’t pan it down either!
Also when run running up or down a hill, the camera will also move up and down depending upon the slope. It never stays stable like look ahead does.
Worst change ever. Sorry, but when you can have your full 25 stacks stripped in less than a second, there’s no chance for any counter play. There’s no room for skill. It is impossible for humans to react that fast.

Do GMs ever do their work while “offline”? I ask because last night I saw GM ProHeals go offline and about an hour later, after 9pm PDT, a flyhacking uplevel mesmer on FA that has been reported multiple times all week was seen flyhacking right in front of everyone in EB.

If you are SEA and like to fight while outnumbered, I suggest you check out YB or SoS. SoS recently got a large Chinese guild named GAN. DB has a large amount of SEA time players already and FA recently got three large Chinese guilds. So in terms of who will be outnumbered, most likely that will be YB and SoS. SoS opens up as “Very High” sometime during NA daytime.

+20% chance of a critical crafting success
+10% Defense against monsters
+10% Endurance regeneration
+20% Chance of additional mining/harvesting/logging node uses
+10% Healing Effectiveness
+10% Maximum health
+10% Bonus coin per kill
+10% Experience per killI so no reason at this point that the WvW players should be supporting the PvE’ers if the PvE players can’t be bothered to support the WvW’ers who earn these bonuses for them with the occasional foray into WvW.
Granted, some of you many not think these bonuses are worthwhile and I’ve provided the maximum examples (some servers earn lower rewards based on their score), but that’s how I feel.
Also, I completely agree that it’s time to give the WvW’ers some really nice incentives (skins, buffs, something!). Perhaps some quantity of the old WvW Tournament Tickets could be given out weekly for wvw participation and they could be used on the existing rewards which require those tickets and newer neat things could be added. (LET US BUY DUNGEON TOKENS WITH BADGES OR TOURNIE TICKETS PLEASE!)

I’d also like to see separation of builds/normalization of stats like what is done for PvP, only not as limited as PvP builds/stats. I want all traits unlocked, all gear unlocked, keep food/wrench, and only usable for WvW. I don’t want to have to PvE for my WvW gear. And I want it free so I can change runesets without losing a kittenload of gold cuz we know that wvw gear can’t be salvaged.

The one thing i did notice though is that i see more and more guild blobs running around without tags. More organized guild strike teams and small groups. But ya FA is basically commander less imho

Which timezone do you play in? If you are NA, you can end up in hour long queues for 3-4 maps on FA.
A lot of servers have community forums. If you plan on playing WvW a lot, I suggest you contact someone from that server through their forum and try to find out as much information about their WvW environment and WvW guilds as you can before deciding.
Engineer:
Pistol/Shield, accelerant packed turrets+healing turret, flamethrower, toolkit, slick shoes/mine, supply crate
You post gameplay footage in order to receive feedback on how you can improve. There is a lot of gameplay knowledge contained within those guilds. Those who have a desire to improve usually do not have issues with having their video reviewed by their guildmates.
Organization can make up for a minor population imbalance, which can turn tides. Coverage is a bigger problem, though.
That’s true, until your opponent creates a larger population and coverage imbalance, teaching you the folly of playing that way.
The only situation where such organization would be of actual value is in a WvWvW game mode where all three servers had equal population and coverage.
You could have the best organization in the world and still be beat because you wouldn’t be following the underlying mathematical formula of the scoring system: PPT = population + coverage.
None of them wanted to go to YB for reasons…
Indeed, YB should worry about themselves and why guilds are deciding to not to go there and stop worrying about FA.

One server stacking causes a cascading effect for all.
Because one server stacking is responsible for players from lower tiers going to DB, YB, or SoS. I mean, that’s why the TC guild left YB for JQ, right?

What is happening now in T2 between DB, SoS, YB, and FA is a direct result of this Full status. Participation levels in WvW never match a server’s total population levels and we can see how this skews competition in WvW.

If you die in the middle of a big battle and waypoint back really fast and then someone you tagged in that battle dies, you’ll get the bags at spawn. No bags appear at spawn from enemies who died before you or who died after you but before you waypointed back.
Good job highlighting player attrition in wvw. If you took FA out of that picture, you’ll notice two huge glicko cliffs, one between t1 and t2, the other between t2 and t3. And the attrition becomes even more apparent when you 1) include server full status that is influencing where players transfer to and 2) comparison with historic glicko ratings of each tier. For example, FA’s rating there is close to its historic high 2 years ago that only made it rank 6 most of the time. Now that makes it comfortably rank 4. You’ll also notice how traditionally lower ranked servers such as NSP have risen in rank due to their population merely staying stable as other servers collapsed around them.
ESO found the solution for the match-ups:
3 Teams instead of servers (could be guild alliances in guild wars 2)
And the option to guest on other campaigns when your server is full or when you want to balance a match.The penalty is that when you are guesting you do not receive xp.
I think it’s a great system that could easily be applied to Guild Wars 2.
It would really facilitate GvGs between guilds as well, as GvG guilds could go fight on low-population servers.

T6-T8 allows some bonus roaming opportunities, like soloing Towers, and taking Keeps with a buddy, or soloing Keeps if you are that OP (I’m not… yet).
Soloing towers and keeps when there are no defenders is a different kind of roaming for sure.
