Founding member of [NERF] Fort Engineer and driver for [TLC] The Legion of Charrs
RIP [SIC] Strident Iconoclast
I am looking for a small 5-10 man guild that stretches out zergs, and helps flank for friendly zergs.
Yes, please! Miss the old days….
Reminds me of this
can I just point out that all this offensive AC stuff placement locations are all stuff we learned from YB
I’m going to start taking more screenshots. You can’t make this stuff up! Maybe OP won’t like me posting screenshots of YB placing trebs in Citadel, which make defending the northwest tower pointless.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
Anet should also remove the ability to place catapults on the bases of walls where they can’t be hit by AC, especially YB’s favorite placement spot on the base of the pillar at southwest inner hills . There’s no spot in which to place counter ACs that don’t get burned down by players. Trying to defend against it is pretty pointless. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it “hacking” though, since it is something the game allows anyone to do.

Quickness boon my golem, please!
Why don’t you go hit FA for once.
That comment is not related to the match-up at all. /sarcasm
Keep being the troll you always have been.
Why do you think some have left your server?
Unkind and unrelated comments like yours are more bullying than informative.
They left the server because of the queues and/or because they got tired of DK push weeks. You have a habit of accusing other players of a lot of things. :/ Asking SoS to hit FA more is match-related. IDK how you don’t see that. Doing so would not solve their issue about being full either.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
TBH I’m feeling kind of meh right now because I’ll need to probably get new runes/gear and I am not interested in investing in anything until stuff settles a bit.
Yeah top 4 are pretty much always locked up…
Fort Aspenwood opens up around SEA and EU time.
People still buy games on disk? :O
thing is the blast on dodge completes with the mortar GM trait, which I can’t run without
It’s like the same thing: double blast finish with 2x orbital strike or double blast finish with 1x orbital strike and 1x dodge. :/
The white wings are a skin, not something you equip.
According to another thread on the topic, one must remove all kits from skill slots both on land and underwater.
The karka hatchling rifle is a bundle and whenever I go underwater, my engineer drops the bundle, making it impossible to kill karka hatchlings in the Bloodcoast Ward cave or skritt ecto cave. I just tried on my guardian and it does not drop the bundle.
Why don’t you go hit FA for once.
That comment is not related to the match-up at all. /sarcasm
Well I sure hope the new map will have some decent keep sieges and largish zergs. Why won’t it be good for large fights?
I’d be all for it leaning more twords groups of 20s / 30s but if the caps are the same why won’t blobs still be used?
From what I’ve seen of the new map so far, there are more choke points for objectives. Nothing chews zergs up more or creates long stand-offs than choke points. To be “PPT effective”, you’ll have to split up more. Because while your blob is held up at a choke in a stand-off, you’ll be losing your own objectives to smaller groups.
The WvW population in SoS isnt great. At times we can field a decent sized group. But we can never match the numbers of YB and FA. They can have massive zergs in several BL’s.
I hate to tell you but YB isn’t the zergy one.
FA is the problem – buying guilds isn’t good game management.
Funny but painfully ironic that your server kills a single person running any map with no less than 20 and as much as 40. That’s one person.
Talk about bored. Why don’t you go hit FA for once.
LOL this person wants to turn this into a match-up thread. There’s a forum for that!
These sort of things is what OP and others are arguing against.
Sure sandbox, sure open world do whatever…
No, not really. The OP is saying that he should be allowed to interrupt duels and that sort of stuff if OP deems them to not be playing WvW “properly”. This OP is going to be the same guy coming here to cry on the forums about losing stuff with queued maps when all the duelists and GvG players start using guild halls.
If all goes well we won’t have to avoid duels and scrims in WvW at all. I know some people enjoy reading rage tells for interrupting what others have deemed an “off limits fight” but I’d rather see it all taken to OS or these upcomming arena’s.
You should just be able to /duel or /duelbet on any pve map you want to. I loved that about EQ2.
Yep. WvW is going to fundamentally change IMHO, at least in the higher tiers. Roamers/duelists/etc. have already been a dying breed in WvW because those players were looking for “open world PvP” and found that WvW was a rather hostile environment for that sort of thing. Guild halls are going to be their sanctuary: sandbox PvP with PvE ruleset. It will still be a loss for the other kind of WvW player, the kind of player who only wants the so-called “PPT productive” activity in WvW. Being “PPT productive” sometimes doesn’t include a lot of PvP and my bet is that what you need to do in the new WvW to be “PPT productive” will include more PvP.
So how will it be a loss? The new map doesn’t look to support the kind of larger zerg on zerg battles. Players won’t be able to group up and spam 1 so easily now. To be “PPT productive” in the new map may mean a lot more smaller scale fights. So all those roamers/duelists/small-mans who played WvW for the PvP are going to be missed.
Hi,
You might try checking out Adverse on FA.
http://www.fort-aspenwood.com/index.php?/topic/5607-adv-adverse/
And FA is accepting and assisting guilds from another server in their own tier? When they already dominate?
No. I think the poster is referring to like 6 months ago when a PST/OCX guild left SoS when they were stuck in T3. Others had gone to DB and YB at the time.
Recently though both VOX and GH moved off SoS (and supposedly Zerg). If they can’t get more guilds into a full server, more are going to leave and SoS will not stay in T2 for long. Or there’s going to be another T2/3 rotation between SoS, Mag, and SBI. Hold onto your seats, boyz.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
guess what, he isn’t getting any help, which is my right to do so
he might find that when his beloved garrison is attacked that guild decides not to help, which is their right to do so.
Once expansion hit in and guild halls start to roll, are we gonna be able to play WvW properly?
To enter battlegrounds fight and kill any guys with red names over their heads, to capture and defend towers and keeps, to use siege and roam around, to be organized in small or big groups, to have your guild go out and play WvW to defend place we claimed with any means necessary, without any judgement.
To do all that without having bunch of “veterans” “guilds” “guild leaders” “pro mad skillz (watch me on twitch) roamers” bashing at you, cursing you and telling you not to do all that because you add up in 1vs1, interrupt their duels, gvg’s, scrimms, because you are danger that server might win matchup and rise up in rank, _________________________ type in all other stupid reasons.
Once upon a time WvW was place where u played with your team, helped you team, played for win, where u fought and killed reds with your team members. Now all i see is WvW turning into personal battlegrounds for individuals where team players are liability.
I just hope that people who dont want to play wvw can take thier duels, gvg’s, scrimms to some other place like guild hall arenas and leave wvw to those that want to play it like it was meant to. The OP claims to be a real wvw player but really has no idea what that means.
And please rename this http://www.gw2wvw.net/ to http://www.gw2gvg.net/ ty bye
There is no way to play WvW “properly” and this guy has rose-tinted glasses on regarding “once upon a time”. SINCE RELEASE WvW has been a sandbox PvP environment with players playing WvW in many different ways, not the way the OP wants them to.
This guy ignores that there are different types of units in an RTS with different roles. He wants everyone to play WvW as an RTS where there’s only one type of role, the one he defines. Lame because that’s not how RTS works. Claims to be a “real wvw” player but really has no idea what he’s talking about. Ironically the coming updates to WvW and guild halls with HoT are going to make WvW unrecognizable from dreamworld OP seems to live in.
I’d give more consideration of what else the OP wrote but it really isn’t worth it. OP is just looking to stir up drama.

I bet the size is related to skill ranges. The arena will still be way more spacious than the original windmill area.
20s all day at the old windmill area, which was much narrower, but longer than this area is. All this will do is to force another meta change in GvG
Exactly. The windmill had that narrow choke point in addition to some hilly terrain features that became part of the tactics for that area. That all went away with OS, which in turn caused the development of a new meta. For example, gank was rudimentary and restricted in the windmill location. The openness of the OS allowed for gank to explode into the meta. This new arena will see the development of new tactics.
I bet the size is related to skill ranges. The arena will still be way more spacious than the original windmill area.
Fatal falling damage due to some client-server desynch. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIIxDfQsJlE
Notice also in the video that the built oil and keep lord info in the upper right hand corner disappears as the game lost track of player position.
Seems to happen most often in the EB map for the FA/YB/SoS match, which is being reported by my servermates as really laggy.
Someone noticed last night in TS that the lag goes away when siege is killed!
(edited by Chaba.5410)
This is a classic. Won a GW2 user contest even.
If you only played sPvP, then think of WvW like a giant sPvP match where one team starts with someone who dc’d or quit for some reason so that they are always fighting outnumbered. Doesn’t make for a true competitive match, does it?
The rankings listed at the link given to you above are merely a measure of which teams have more players on during a 24/7 time period.
So the first question to ask is what timezone do you play in? The second question is what kind of WvW experience are you looking for, i.e. large zerg fights, small-man roaming fights, good mixture of both, etc.?
(edited by Chaba.5410)
Had someone on FA also die instantly and complain in mapchat about it. I told him he probably fell through the map and took fatal falling damage according to the server.
Email exploits@arenanet.com
Also use the in-game /report feature and select ‘botting’.
In game reports do nothing – we did this for weeks and not one castle nor anet employee did a thing until it was posted here and to youtube.
In game reporting is a joke – a bad, nasty, mean, joke.
We are supposed to use the forums – according to many emails I have – and now you and others change the rules that WE are being told to utilize?
Wrong answer.
Absolutely I gave the right answer. I took video myself of this guy, used the /report function on him, reported him for botting. Sent my video into exploits@arena.net the next day. I also mentioned it on this forum. A few hours later he was banned.
What you do not realize is that using /report gives ArenaNet the best data attached to the report in order for them to go look in log files to find the evidence of the hacking. Just posting on this forum does not give them that data.
If you want to see results, you have to be thorough and need to utilize all avenues, not say “oh this one is a joke so I’m not going to use it”.

Not being able to split stacks has hurt because many wanted to give me a hand but everything they had was already stacked.
Alt+drag allows one to split stacks. Yea, it isn’t obvious. I had to ask myself to find out.
Also try asking around on your friendly server community forum at http://www.fort-aspenwood.com
It’s actually a well-established fact at this time that IoJ is in fact the farm team for Fort Aspenwood. About every 15-18 months they buy off the best players on that server and leave it to crumble down until they rebuild again, then repeat.
All you can do in any bad situation is rally around your active commanders and give them all the support you can.
That’s actually really f_cked up.
And grossly misrepresented. AVTR and all those guilds that left IoJ for FA in the first exodus did so of their own accord because IoJ’s NA basically collapsed out of T1, that server was dropping, and the players in the first exodus wanted to remain in a higher tier. CORE and some others followed later for Season 1 and no one on FA recruited or paid for them. The third time it is true that FA approached the IoJ community. You can’t blame players who originally came from IoJ in the first exodus for looking to their old server, knowing that the communities have similarities. The offer was refused. An NA guild ultimately came on their own (they started on FA, went to IoJ, then went back to FA) while two OCX guilds were given like 50% of the transfer cost – the same as was being given to other interested OCX guilds from other servers. As another poster above said, Wolf suddenly and unexpectedly disbanded and that spurred others to leave. They didn’t all come to FA.

It could have been prevented, but it would have taken actions to control what players do. I’m sorry but players fill servers, players cause queues (except you know, when anet changes map population sizes, then yeah they can be blamed too but there were still reasons for the changes though).
Players could spread out, players didn’t have to stack servers before, but they did. And while it’s possible Anet lowered the max server population, they also I think raised it a number of times allowing even more people in what was full prior. Of course players leaving may have accounted for it at least part of the time.
DB has dropped from full numerous times, then went back to full. All I’ve wondered is why people keep wanting to move there, since it keeps going full. Reason it was full when guilds left? Because it was overfull really. You can blame anet for reducing the server max IF they did. But you can’t really blame Anet because players chose to return to the game (well you can but not the way you are saying, but that’s a different complaint anyways) and may have once again counted against the servers total when they may not have been counted prior due to inactivity. I’m not sure when/how/if they are no longer counted against it. If they remain counting against it, then again we can say anet is at fault, although really don’t think server caps should have been increased the last times (again if they indeed did increase them), on that point we can agree Anet is at fault. But Anet does not control what guilds choose to do. Anet did not for instance make TIME choose to leave DB, and consolidate those that couldn’t move to DB all on HoD. Chose to leave because DB was full and Anet controls the server caps, I can give you that.
And if HoD suddenly is listed as full with all those moving to it, you’ll have the same situation, but that too would be entirely Anets fault i guess? Kind of surprised that it hasn’t been full yet, considering how many pve/pvx guilds moved to HoD and never left because megaserver negated any reason to move for PvE. Of course that gets into a different discussion with resolutions that would cause other issues.
DB is a prime example of everything wrong with the PPT and Glicko ranking system and population/coverage issues. It had the largest SEA time population, T1-sized SEA time population, and almost nothing any other time. That carried DB into tiers higher than the rest of their server could be competitive in (even the last iteration of DB in T2, their non-SEA time PPT had to be carried by 2v1). The same thing essentially occurred with SoS and to some extent JQ and DH. I’d say the same about IoJ but IoJ had an off-hours exodus early on in the life of this game. No one should be surprised that these servers ended up full status and are non-competitive in NA WvW.
Reminder: This game needs a set of OCX/SEA servers separated from NA (so yes, it is Anet’s fault). Then NA might have a WvW experience closer to EU and OCX/SEA players would finally be able to enjoy GW2 without 500ms ping times. We wouldn’t get into this situation of servers ending up in tiers higher than their NA Prime can be competitive in.
if you dont like it I see no reason to play it either. It’s that simple.
i like the idea of open world pvp but the act fails for me,
then its clear waste of time and not worth bothering with
gonna stick to more productive parts of the game.
See, WvW is not open world PvP because it is not an open world. Each server is a closed world and you cannot PvP against players/friends on your own server. You have to have multiple accounts on different servers in order to simulate an open world PvP experience, which I do.
Can we get some lightening hammers and some guards and play dev golf with you?
That’s awesome! He can switch servers on the fly too so everyone can play asuraball with him!
I think there might be some friction arising from this if pre-existing logos that communities have created for themselves aren’t used.
Then there’s copyright and usage issues…
That would be Dhuum, not Grenth.
Hehe now you know how much time I spent playing GW1 compared to GW2!
dang bro
if only there were employees at a-net that actually checked exploits@arenanet.com
too bad though
The correct email address is exploits@arena.net
Hopefully with Chaba’s videos as well as others on FA reporting the player that will be enough information for ANet to permanently and publicly ban this player.
Chris’ post with Grenth attached is indication that he’s banned the player already. Grenth would appear whenever Anet banned players in GW1.
I embarked on a similar WvW project starting back in Aug. 2014 and called it “Wandering the Shards of Tyria”. My goals were to visit T1 NA, T8 NA, and an EU server. I didn’t write about it much, instead I made videos that tried to capture something of each server and/or tier that I visited and I tried to learn maybe about how others solve or deal with the same WvW issues. In the end, I feel the project said a lot more about my personal interests in WvW (open world PvP) than about the different communities.

knowing that he can do things you cannot prevent; that you cannot fight back
I had great fun fighting back and trying to figure out how to counter what he was doing and kill him before he teleported away. Killed him even. Didn’t matter that he respawned in the same place right away. LOL
I’m a fan of bearbow math! TY!

I got video of the same hacker and sent the video into exploits@arena.net
Better than having a PvP map being used as a PvE karma train.
I just HATE this hacker. They have run you guys from yb off and your not even playing.
Having zero fun …
I just fought the flyhacker tonight and got a lot of video of it. LMAO! I was laughing so hard I was crying! Uplevel warrior with the falling trait trying to kill people by continuously falling on them from above is some of the funniest kitten I’ve seen in awhile.
I’m wondering if it is the same guy who was in a golem under the map hitting SoS’s ebg keep and caught on Khezekiah’s twitch stream. IMHO most likely.
The camera changes made me despise underwater combat. My view will suddenly pop above the water even though my toon stays at same depth.
LOL. If you post a lot on a forum, of course other frequent forum users are going to respond.
Email exploits@arenanet.com
Also use the in-game /report feature and select ‘botting’.
I prefer using the /bug feature personally. It sends all the right data to their reporting tools.
Thanks for coming out to OS for the GvG support. The number of spectators were insane, I even had a queue to get in and play! I’m not the voice of the GvG community but it seemed to mean a lot to us to see some Anet representation there.
Simply standing there swapping servers was blowing people’s minds. Good times!
I had a blast last night. That was a fun event to be sure. I’ll be back for more!
You should come watch a GvG on a borderland when the OS is being used. Might be fun times, so to speak.
But it would have to be a HOME bl that is queued for sparks to really fly….
Not always! There’s the rare third server griefing too.
This I have not witnessed, but I suppose it could happen.
Ya, it happened on FABL a week or so ago. “If it’s red it’s dead.”
