Does this mean that it will affect level 80s?

Yes it will but the change will not be easily noticeable.

Then there’s no need to implement it, right? If it’s noticeable enough for people to get usable drops while levelling, it’s noticeable enough to hurt higher levels trying to gather resources for things such as ascended gear.

Or just lower the price per salvage to compete with mystics. The name would make no sense, but that’s the better option. A lot of us have a trove of Black Lion salvage kits in our banks, so the upgrading this one further is a but silly.

Mystic salvage kit costs what – just over ten copper per use? That’s if we ignore the cost of stones, but let’s be honest… anyone who does their monthlies is drowning in the things. I want to get a silver-fed salvage-o-matic, because I simply love its copper-fed twin; however it’s an absolute rip off. Sorry Anet.

I’ve stuck with plenty of characters and have this wonderful item on them. I just find it a bit disappointing that my newer characters can’t have some love – there isn’t always much call for my necromancer or ranger in group content, and when my friends are playing on their asuras, I’d also like to be able to play with them on mine… and fire cakes at them.

  • As a guardian and mesmer player, the speed boost idea is just horrible; simply put.
  • Half of the commander changes are already coming, the others listed here are unnecessary and would hurt WvW (zergs waypointing to your front door, lovely).
  • You do know that only a small number of ascended components can be traded, right? And that people craft those themselves anyway for the crafting xp to reach 500? The few which are traded plus legendaries (big money, but small numbers again) won’t affect much.

I know you were trying to help out here, but these suggestions won’t fix the economy by a long shot. And as a finishing point – players have set the price of gold:gems conversion, so plenty of them are happy with it where it is.

I’m completely in favour of a communication-based CDI. Just to throw something out early: you guys have a website – use it. I know social media and fansites are very useful tools, but why should I have to trawl through Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Dulfy, etc for things that should be here in plain view for all to see?

Links to or transcripts of important things posted elsewhere would be nice. Not hidden away in some subforum – an obvious stickied thread, or better yet, on the website’s front page. And I know the wiki is made up of player contributions… but how about some love in the form of new skins, etc being there for us to see when they are released; as opposed to having to go to the wardrobe in game or visit Dulfy? Anet makes Guild Wars 2, not social media and certain fansites that get special treatment.

Can’t disagree with the last point – even nearly two years on, there are those who don’t know that it can’t be salvaged and a safeguard that obvious should help. We’d still get people who choose not to read it…. but that’s a different issue.

I wouldn’t mind seeing karma armour salvageable for just the chance at the rune (account bound), no materials, etc. That way people can get their upgrades out of them too when they respec.

Chameleon Dude.1564

This post is, as has already been said, overdue – but it is still greatly appreciated. Hopefully your hand won’t get bitten by some angry ranter while you’re trying to reach out to us.

However, there is one thing I do just have to bring up. I’m not demanding a reply or anything, I just hope that it’s noted.

In general the simple truth is this: when we’re not currently working on something, it’s because we’re working on something else instead that we think is more important for the game and community.

I appreciate that everyone’s opinions differ, but I think the community has made it very clear exactly which areas they are interested in being developed. A little communication in regards to these subjects (I won’t name them, I don’t want to derail a communication-related thread into discussion about them) would be nice, perhaps a little more than something along the lines of “We’re not working on [insert content/feature here] at this time.” If the playerbase knew why something was on the backburner, maybe they would quieten down about it for a while?

Thanks again for daring to visit these forums at such a time; but saying that you are working on “more important” things is really raising the bar – especially considering how passionate some players are about things that aren’t being worked on.

The last thing I want to see is another “For the next two weeks, [insert zone here] has been completely ruined! Zerg around in a blob of 100 (whether mechanics want you to or not) and farm it, probably failing the events for more loot.” – those things were awful, literally destroyed parts of the game, lagged like crazy and became farm fests. it is rly annoying to see this people here always jump on everything with stupid arguments like “geargrind qq” and “dont play it” ….. seriously

noone said PROGRESS have to be geargrind

just look in wvw they addet the wxp system – this IS progress and no geargrind
look in spvp this ranksystem – this IS progress and no geargrind

so to just bring 1 simple system to explain wtf i talk about:

bring HERO lvls for pve and you can lvl this only with doing things in pve

  • easy repeatble things low pointz
  • hard things a lot pointz

like
for the simple things:

  • 1 dungeon/fraktal compelte 10 hero point
  • 1 temple event/worldboss 1 point
    for the special things:
  • liadri archievment(there have to be more than like this) gives 500 pointz
    other special things:
  • 500 points on wxp lvl 1000, pvp rank 80, Archievement 10000 …..

now for this they could sell things for this pointz like precursor 5000-10000 points
or recipes, minis, homeinstance things, maby gems?, ….. stuff like this

or make it a lvl system and give 1 hero lvl all 5000 points and bring something like this wxp traits but for pve ……

  • like lower waypoint costs,
  • +5% extra runspeed out of combat(add to the 25%)(works not in wvw or pvp)
  • gems?
  • special armor or weapon skins
  • precursor?
  • whatever
  • different spell colours or soundeffects

i just typed random ideas and numbers jsut to say progress has nothing to do with geargrind

bye

So… achievements then? We have those, thanks.

What do you think about Controller Support?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

This thread has been posted many, many times. It just isn’t a good idea.

only 15 percent of skyrim players were pc players

The quote above is actually a great example. Do you know why such a low percentage of Skyrim players were PC users? Because the game was designed for controllers – it was horrible to play with a mouse and keyboard and we needed third-party mods for UI changes, etc to make it playable.

Controller support would be possible, but a lot of the game’s UI and systems would need to be re-imagined to suit controllers… and it would hurt the vast majority of players who use their mouse and keyboard set ups.

  • Movement
  • Strafing
  • Camera angle
  • Using all 10 skills
  • Changing skills
  • Chat
  • Dodge roll
  • Inventory
  • Crafting
  • Traits
  • Trading post
  • Bank
  • Guild management

That’s just a short list of some of the most commonly used features. Fit all those on a controller. Can it be done? Probably, only just. Would it be easy with the UI set out as it is now? No. Games that have allowed as much as that to be done on controller have had UIs designed for controller use. We do not want that on an MMO so a few people can play with a controller; making it harder for the rest of us to play.

One last thing, you said we can chat using a keyboard or headset:

So how you chat in console? ;-) Came on guys. Is many ways how to chat, just use keyboard, or headset ;-)

In that case, you already have a keyboard with you… use it to play the game. As for the headset, voice chat for /say, /map or /team (in WvW) would be a nightmare. Maybe even in /party and /guild in some cases.

I honestly just go to the bank. Which take 20 second at most if I need something. I don’t think those 6-7 silver is a big deal.

Having spend a great of time as a miner in GW2, I “personally” don’t think you save that much time.

Travelling to an NPC and paying 6-7 silver kind of defeats the purpose of an infinite gathering tool – a convenience item that lets us bypass spending small amounts of money on gathering tools and travelling to an NPC to obtain them.

[Suggestion] Team Chat

whisper directly or create a guild and use guild chat.

Because whispering an entire server, or trying to cram them all into one guild, is a reasonable request.

A lot of MMOs have a world chat or such, so why not? I literally can’t see any downsides to this, so long as it isn’t in the main chat tab by default.

Traidingpost Flipping should brought in line

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

Sadly, Anet seems perfectly happy with this and that’s that.

All this talk of economies and bending it to suit your either viewpoint just gets silly. Let me get right down to this – why is it good for the game that the average, non-TP playing player has to pay more for their items (sold at a higher price by flippers – after all, they won’t sell it for a loss), instead of just getting to buy it at the price it should be? The only reason supply increases when prices rise is because flippers are offloading stock for profit, not because the regular player is more inclined to sell.

Long story short: the average player has to pay for; some people make easy gold; some idiots mess up their attempts at easy money and lose gold; and a small group of players sit on a pile of money and rare items that are off-limits to the rest of us.

P.S. Of course some things should be reserved for the best players, but give them to the best players instead of to people who can watch the TP all day and use multiple windows to buy up and dump faster than anyone playing properly could ever hope to.

As dirty as it feels to suggest this… I think the tier 4 merchant needs to offer something like crafting material bags, tomes of knowledge or scrolls of knowledge (for geodes of course, so players would have to contribute) – something the bulk of players would want access to. This zone has so much potential and I really love every aspect of it, but I can see it being pretty empty after we move on a bit.

Queensdale's Death

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

  • A massive hit to Economic Action (or Economic Movement, if you prefer that term)
  • A not-inconsiderable hit to getting new players/alts to higher levels quickly and easily (no one wants to stay in the starter zones for an eternity, and the trains were a fine way of getting you up to level 30 fast)
  • A detrimental effect on the game’s presentation to new players (difficulty, opportunity, necessity of teamwork, etc.)
  • A clear and fundamental shift from what Guild Wars 2 prided itself on offering apart from other MMORPGs: a cross-world experience for all players, young and old, that would be made available and enjoyable to players regardless of their in-game level.

Sorry, but I stopped reading here.

  • It was a horrible, horrible way to make money. Sure, everything pales in comparison to TP flipping (which is a separate issue for a separate thread); but anyone farming Queensdale was just fooling themselves.
  • Exploring and personal story was far, far faster xp than the train. Levelling up is no hardship in this game. Besides, what’s the point of levelling up in the train, instead of exploring; when you’ll explore the rest of the map at some point or another.
  • The game will look a lot better to new players now. No being yelled at by level 80s wanting to farm their zone, not being taught bad gameplay (that 1 is all you need), not being given horrible build/farming/how to play the game advice.
  • High level players can still go to Queensdale, and other sub-80 zones, to play with and help their friends. This feature was not removed.

I’m fine with a champion train for poor farm, but take it out of starter zones and lose the hostility towards interruptions.

An End to the Queensdale Train

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

For all these supporting (whether they use it or not) or on the fence about the train – riddle me this: why does it have to be in a starter zone? Would it really be so bad if they bumped it over to say, Kessex Hills or somewhere? Still 0/10 on the difficulty scale, still easy to reach and if Queensdale can be completed and moved on from so quickly, then new players can reach the train’s new location quickly. Simple.

I’m all for an inefficient farming route in a low level zone, potentially with some less than desirable people using it. But does it have to be one of the first things a new player encounters? The number of times I see new players ask for advice and being told ‘the train is the fastest way to level up, stay here until level 80’, etc. They’re new, they’ll believe this. Even if the experience is competitive… the game will just seem like a strange combination of train simulator and farming simulator set in a nice green field.

One last note: we know Anet wants to do something about the train, as we saw last update – surely moving it somewhere still easily accessible is better than nerfing it and probably all champion loot everywhere?
